Dead's dilemma

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

"Uh yeah," Dead stuttered, in the heat of the moment she had jumped up onto her seat. "So that happened." Dead chuckled as she got down and sat back down. She was now staring at Ditzy who had a blank look on her face. "Uh Ditzy? Are you okay?"

"Yeah, just a bit taken back..." Ditzy slowly said. "Are you alright? I mean you did kind of stand up and shout that you love me really, really loud and everpony in the restaurant is looking at us."

"Oh yeah..." Dead chuckled again. "I'm alright. I guess I just got caught up in the heat of the moment. But what I said stands. Even if I have only just met you... I know it may be sudden, but I have never been so sure in my life."

"Wow really? I never expected something like this to happen so quickly!" Ditzy said happily. "Who would have thought it. Me a mailmare, who crashes a lot and tends to make the odd mistake. And you, a powerful long-live immortal necromancer, Together!"

"I know right! Such an odd mix... Well I say that, but I have seen some pretty strange relationships..." Dead laughed as she finished, she grab her drink and drank a bit of it. "As long as you are happy, I'm happy."

"Don't go getting too lovey dovey on me! We still have dessert!"

"Dessert? Hang on a moment I thin I just need to rest..." Dead said abruptly as she passed out from emotional duress. Leaving a rather puzzled Ditzy with an unconscious Dead.

Five minuets earlier...

It was getting relatively dark and all the club goers were starting to stumble home. Normally at this time Twilight would in the library, sorting out books or researching some tome. She did not normally spend this time looking for a friend. A drunken colt being pursued by a skeleton would normally have grabbed her attention, however tonight it didn't.

"Twilight!" A floating skull shouted out. "Twilight! What are you doing out here?" The skull floated over to Twilight.

"Hey Skullworthy, I am just looking for Dead. Have you seen her?" Twilight asked the skull.

"Last time I checked she was in that restaurant over there." The skull turned and nodded down a street. "She asked us to make sure that this rather rowdy colt wake up regretting drinking..." The skull started chuckling.

"How is she going about that?" Twilight asked curiously.

"Just going to take the colt and surround him in skeletons... Nothing violent or anything."

"I would complain, but its too late for that... All I can do is hope that you don't do anything too bad to the poor colt, probably he first time drinking..."

"Have no fear! Dead has ordered us to 'go easy' on him... Whatever that means." The skull chuckled after finishing. "Hm? Twilight?"

"Yeah? Whats the matter?"

"Why are you looking for Dead?"

"I'm just worried... I mean I know she can look after herself, but that's what I'm worried about. This place has already been the chaos capital for a short time, what do you even call it when a necromancer takes over a town?"

"A nercocity, or something like that."

"Uh... Okay then! Thanks Skullworthy!" Twilight said as the skull started to float after the colt and skeleton. Twilight then decided to head down the back ally and towards the restaurant.

"Woah, Dead?" Ditzy asked as she waved for help. "Dead! Are you alright?"

"Urrf!" Dead mumbled as she let out a large snore.

"Oh Dead, trust you to fall asleep during dinner... Well not really, seeing as we have only just met." Ditzy chuckled as a few waiters came over.

Twilight entered the restaurant, by herself. This factor alone caused most of the ponies on the ground floor to stare at her. Twilight chuckled nervously and made her way over to the bar section of the restaurant. She sat down and tried to hail the barcolt. "Hey!" Twilight called out, the barcolt turned around and smiled at her.

"I will be just a moment!" The barcolt called out as he picked up two pint glasses and wobbly walked over to a table and placed them on the table. Twilight turned her attention to the restaurant, she kept her eye out for Dead however she could not see her anywhere. Twilight sighed as the barcolt moved over to her and startled her. "What can I get you?" The colt asked with a cheery smile.

"Oh..." Twilight flustered, in all her time spent in Ponyville she had never been to this restaurant. "I'm just looking for somepony, do you think you can help?"

The colt smiled at Twilight. "Sure, what do they look like?"

"Oh she had a dark chestnut coat and name, her hair is similar to mine except she changes it a lot so I don't know what it is like now..."

"I see, anything else?"

"Oh, shes a bit of an oddball. Goes by the name of Dead and has a skull for a cutie mark."

"A skull you say? Yeah, she was here a while ago. She was stood just over there." The colt nodded to the center of the restaurant. "She looked like she was having trouble with a colt... But she shooed him away before things could get... Intense."

"Yeah, I think I saw that colt in question. He was pretty drunk"

"Hm, I think the bouncer threw him out a few minuets ago. Anyway as I was saying, she was stood there until what I can only assume was her date took her to the VIP section."

"She was with somepony?" A confused Twilight asked. "Who was she with?"

"She was with... Uhhh I should know this!" The colt thumped his forehead with his hoof. "She is in here at least once a week! How can I forgot her name!" The colt huffed. "Sorry I couldn't be any help, if I see her again you will the first to know."

Twilight paused for a moment. "Did she come back down from the VIP section?" Twilight asked, the colt placed his hoof on his chin and thought for a moment,.

"Now that I think about it... I don't think she ever did. Then again they haven't been here too long. But if you want to get access to the VIP section you need to pay a monthly subscription."

"Can't you do anything about it? I am really worried about her." Twilight pleaded to the barcolt, who then sighed.

"I swear if I allow every heartbroken mare into the VIP section it wouldn't be much of a VIP section. Would it now?" The barcolt let out a hearty laugh. "Well I suppose I can do it this one time, but you owe me. And just for future references... Name please?"

"Twilight, Twilight Sparkle." Twilight said as the colt ducked under that bar. "You alright?"

"Yeah, just sending a message to the bouncer. So he knows to let you past..." The bar colt emerged from the bar and flashed a smile at Twilight. "Hes is just over there." The barcolt pointed to the stairs.

Twilight left the bar and slowly made her way over to the stairs. The amount of ponies that were in the restaurant seemed to be decreasing every moment, just as Twilight reached the stairs she turned around to see that she had an unbroken line of sight to both the exit and the bar where she was just at. Just as Twilight reached the stairs the bouncer popped out of nowhere and stopped her.

"Name?" The bouncer asked. He looked sternly at Twilight.

"Uhhhhhhhh..." Twilight stuttered, the large overbearing stallion threw her trail of though out the window.

"Take your time... I'm here until midnight..." The bouncer sighed.

"Twilight, Twilight Sparkle." Twilight half shouted.

"Ah yes, I see." The bouncer stood aside allowing Twilight past.

"Thank you..." Twilight stuttered. She slowly started to move up the stairs

The stairs were long, to say the least. Or so they seemed. Midway up the wallpaper changed to mach something that was more refined, one that would suit the higher class citizens that live in Ponyville. After what seemed like an hour Twilight arrived on the balcony that overlooked the ground floor. A few groups were sat down and eating their fancy foods, one table stood out. A table that had a light grey mare eating a dessert with a dark chestnut colored mare slumped over. Two waiters quickly hurried over to the table and checked the sleeping mare for any signs of foal play.

Twilight swiftly ran over to the table and addressed the mare who was quietly eating. "Derpy! What are you doing with Dead!?" Twilight half shouted to avoid drawing attention. Just as she finished the waiters left.

Ditzy shrugged. "We were just having dinner here. And she passed out! The waiters assured me that she would wake up in a moment.." While Twilight was confused and worried, it was highly unlikely that Derpy would even try and slip something in Dead's drink. Not only was she not that kind of pony, but she would have be unable to do it without making a mess.

"Alright... So tell me, what are you doing here with Dead?" Twilight asked as she took a seat next to the knocked out necromancer.

"Dinner date!" Derpy cheered happily. A slight immature tone took over Derpy as she half squealed.

"And how did this happen?" Twilight asked as she started to bring her hoof closer to her face.

"Well I was doing an evening run for the Apple's they got some late mail from Manehattan. And she was slumped up against a tree, talking to a skull and all."

"So you saw her by herself talking to Skullworthy, then what?" Twilight said as she confirmed the events.

"Well I was looking at her as I flew over her, and I..."

"You crashed into her right?" Twilight's hoofs made contact with her face, she swiftly pulled them away and allowed Derpy to go on.

"Well she was hungry and all, her stomach was rumbling really bad! I decided that she needed to eat something!"

"So you brought her here?" Twilight asked with a puzzled look on her face, her hoof rubbing her chin.

"Well, we were going back to my house."

"But you didn't..."

"Well I remembered that the manager owed me a favor, and I thought that it might be a good idea to treat her. Seeing as she cleaned up the town."

"And then what?" Twilight asked politely.

"Well we came up here, and well... Something happened..."

"What happened?"

"We fell in love..? Yes, I am pretty sure that happened."

"You what!?" Twilight exclaimed.

"Yep, she even shouted it out! It was, quick. Then after that she fell asleep, then you showed up. Then I told you what happened!" Derpy said happily.

"Alright... I uh... Need to think about this... Its a lot to take in..." Twilight stuttered.

"Yeah, it took me a while to take it all in as well Twilight. I mean, she lovely and all but I have heard about..."

"The others?"

"Yes..."

"Don't worry about them. They have done nothing but cause problems for each other. Sabotaging Dead's dinner today and all." Twilight said flatly.

"Rain and Rarity did that?" Derpy said with a shocked expression.

"Yes, although they didn't do anything too bad... I just think they went over the line this time."

"Really?"

"Yes. But don't you worry about them. I will take care of them. You just take Dead back to yours and I will deal with Rarity and Rainbow and possibly Big Mac..."

"Big Mac? He was in love?"

"Yes, Dead seems to attract a variety of ponies." Twilight chuckled slightly.

"Oh, well I hope this doesn't pose to much of a problem..."

"It won't Derpy, I will make sure of it. Come on, lets get you two to bed. I'm sure Dead could use a break..."
