Dead in civilization
Hangovers and headaches
Previous ChapterNext Chapter"Oh my head..." Dead groaned as once again her pain relief spell wore off and she felt the full effects of her heavy hangover hit her. "Why did I have to have that last drink of punch..." Dead fumbled around the outskirts of the town looking for some herbs to help her deal with her hangover. Clouds hung high in the sky. "Urgh, wasn't today supposed to be sunny... Can't say I would complain, the sun would give me a splitting eye ache." Dead rubbed her eyes and looked at the ground. As she brought her eyes back up she saw a cyan pegasus in front of her.
"Sup." Was all the pegasus said, after no response the mare decided it might be a good idea to be a bit more informative. "So you're the mare Twilight has been showcasing around to everypony?" The pony spoke confidently and in a slightly mocking tone. "To be fair, not a bad catch."
"Urgh..." Was all Dead could muster. Her headache had evolved into a fully fledged meltdown complete with a migraine, she tried to summon enough magic energy to provide some pain relief but failed to. "Please, not now. My head is pounding like a drum." Dead pleaded with the mare.
"Wow, you must of gotten hammered. I bet you were a riot." The mare said confidently, she was clearly unaware of how doing the equivalent of poking a tiger with a blunt stick would have ended badly for her. "Yeah, I would have gone to that but its a bad idea to drink and fly."
"Yeah, would have..." Dead was just trying to kill conversation.
"So I heard Twilight got plastered, care to tell me anything about that?" The mare inquired before elbowing Dead is side.
"Please, I just need to find some herbs..." Dead groaned as she went about her searching.
"What'cha looking for? I could help, provided you return the favor." The mare asked, giving Dead a subtle wink.
"No, its fine. I can find it by myself. I mean how hard can it be to find a one in one million herb that is the size of a pin."
"Look, I could find you that herb in like ten seconds flat. Just tell me what it looks like and I'l find it." The mare threw a large amount of confidence in her voice as she ended her sentence.
"Alright, if you really, really, really want to help... It is a small flower that looks like a drop of blood. You can tell if it the correct flower because it will bloom if it comes into contact with blood." Dead gave in, she was at war with her migraine and the mare and she had to pick a side or face the consequences.
"Names Rainbow Dash by the way, a name I'm sure you will be hearing a lot of." The mare said as she jettisoned off to scan the horizon for herbs.
"Hey I found it!" Rainbow Dash crashed into chestnut colored mare. "Look here it is!" Dash present the flower, that had bloomed slightly and a small cut on at the bottom of her hoof explained why.
"Wow, thanks Rainbow." The mare said as she slowly got up and dusted herself off. "Maybe next time you can avoid crashing into me?" The mare chuckled slightly. "Well thanks for the help, I can make this into a potion to beat of the remainder of this hangover. By the way, the names Dead, Dead Quiet."
"Nice to meet you Dead, now maybe we can go back to my place and go about repaying me..." Rainbow said, attempting to hint towards thing to come.
"Alright although I don't know why we can't just do it here..." Dead said unwillingly knowing what she had just gotten herself into. Much to Rainbow's surprise she took a notepad out and looked to take notes.
"Wow, aren't you worried that somepony will see us or something? I mean you maybe new but I got a reputation to uphold! I definitely think it should be something we do at the cloud at least." Rainbow said as she leaned close to Dead, a little too close for Dead's liking.
"Um Rainbow, do you think you could let me breath for a moment... I mean I like being friends and y'know jumping in their breathing space." Dead slowly tried to back away from Rainbow, however she only seemed to get closer. "Could you at least let me go tell Twilight?"
"Tell her what?" Rainbow said as she backed away, a hint of worry could be heard in her voice. "I mean, we don't need to tell her anything. It can be our little secret..."
"But if she needs me for something she needs to know where to find me. I mean she is responsible for me." Dead said sounding worried slightly.
"Fine, we can tell Twilight, but I don't know why we have to tell her everything." Rainbow Dash said quizzically.
"We don't have to tell her everything, I mean if you don't want to." Dead said attempting to calm the slightly anxious Dash down.
"Oh that's okay then, I mean we don't really want her getting in the way of anything. I mean, she is a good friend and all but sometimes she can be a bit of a control freak. Like this one time, she cast a need it want it spell. On a doll. To make a friendship problem." Dash said as she regained her confidence, and started to lean in into Dead again.
"Well urghhh..." Dead once again tried to back away, but found herself pinned up against a tree. "She errrr.. Summoned a party demon. Last night. To make the party better." Dead gulped as she tried to move her head so that she could breath without getting a face full of Dash's breath.
"Really? A party demon you say? That sounds rather typical for Twilight. Y'know to do something totally unreasonable in a attempt to do something reasonable." Rainbow Dash moved even closer to Dead as Dead tried to back away. Dead was now nearly climbing the tree in order to get some breathing space. Meanwhile Rainbow Dash was still moving even closer to her, she only stopped when she was a few millimeters away from her face. "So do you want to go tell Twilight that you're going to be busy for a few hours?"
