Dead in civilization
What not to do when panicking
Previous ChapterNext ChapterRarity was busy making Dead's dress, she had polity requested that Dead leave her alone while she work on the dress. Dead had gone to Twilight's house to return her books. Dead was worried about the upcoming visit from Luna, while Twilight and her friends were confident that the visit would go smoothly Dead was not.
"Twilight, the last time I saw Luna we were at each other throats. It wasn't friendly. I know what Celestia is like and I doubt she will be very welcoming as well." Dead was addressing her concerns to Twilight. "I know you are trying hard but the last thing I want to happen is get banished or something." Dead didn't wait for Twilight to respond she walked around the room looking at the books in the library.
"Dead, how many times are you going to do that?" Twilight said as she saw how worn the floor was getting from Dead's constant movements. "Don't worry about it, she was once like you." Twilight walked over to her and put her foreleg around her and directed her to look out a window. "And besides, you have us to look after you. Not like anything bad will happen if the elements of harmony are protecting you."
"Yeah, I guess so." Dead smiled lightly. "But still I worry, I just don't want this to come crashing down. I almost let my feelings destroy it when I should not have, and that was something I could control." Dead freed herself and looked at the slowly setting sun. "So how long do you think it will be until she shows up?"
"Not too long Dead, the letter said a few days. But if I know Luna she will be over as soon as the moon has been risen."
"I guess I better go see how Rarity is doing, she kicked me out an hour ago." Dead said as she slowly made her way towards the door. "Well here's to hoping that things don't go too bad." Dead chuckled lightly as she left the library.
Ponyville was always such a quiet little town, the sun setting over the forest bathed the town in a warm orange glow. Dead had gotten to know a few of the regulars in the town however they never did much except say hello and wave to each other. A cool breeze was blowing in the treeline that made the trees sway gently from side to side. It was peaceful.
Suddenly a loud gust of wind came over and settled, the sound of something landing could be heard, followed by the sound of hoofs on soil. Dead shuddered in anticipation of what was to come.
"Greetings!" Was shouted at Dead in the royal Canterlot accent. "Oh sorry. Greetings. We hope we did not cause distress." Luna said more calmly. While Dead never saw her she knew it was Luna.
"Its okay, no harm was done." Dead said trying to not sound like herself. "So what brings you to Ponyville Princess?" Dead asked hoping that Luna would not ask her to face her.
"We are just checking for denomic arts at play. We did not expect demons to surface here though. This town seems to be a hotspot for villains." Luna spoke regally, an accent that would have taken years to master.
"Oh really?"
"Yes. Myself, Discord and you."
"Me?"
"Did you not think we could not smell your foal arts? You reek of death. Turn around." Luna commanded.
"But..."
"Turn. Around." Luna said harshly.
"So, you know who I am then. Tell me and I will turn." Dead said, not asking but insisting.
"You are Dead. In more ways then one." Luna said flatly. "Now turn around Dead."
Dead turned and was met by a bright flash that threw her a few feet backwards into the wall of a house. With a large thump she hit the ground dazed and confused. Its had become clear to what Luna's intentions were. Dead readied her various shielding spells as she got up. With a determined look on her face she prepared herself for what was to come.
"Ha!" Luna mockingly shouted. "Do you honestly think you could stand up to us? You were weak with your minions and you are weak without them." Dead could take the insults, they were just Luna attempt to cause her to fly into a fury. "Very well then." Luna fired a bolt of dark energy and Dead who blocked it with a quick reaction shield of bones. As soon as the spell had been blocked the bones dug underground before anypony could see them.
The fight had been taken toward the center of town, ponies who were at their stalls had run inside and the streets were barren. Every time Luna attacked Dead would block it in a flurry of bones that would vanish within moments.
"Dead! Stop hiding behind your bones and face us!" Luna shouted as another attack was deflected. Dead remained silent throughout the fight, not say a word and just focusing on surviving the onslaught. Each attack Luna did pushed Dead back and drained her of energy. Dead had been pushed back to the town hall when suddenly a rumbling noise could be heard.
"That's not me... What are you doing?" Dead asked angrily. "Your not going to raze this town just because I'm here are you?"
"Hold your tongue, we would not do something so petty." Luna said spitefully. "Now Tell us what you are doing, witch." Luna's use of the term witch took Dead back a few decades, however she was more focused on the rumbling. Something was coming, something big. "Tell us!" Luna shouted.
"Nothing, at least nothing I am not aware of. Now tell me. You recently returned from being banished. What was it like?" Dead asked hoping that Luna would give her some insight to what was happening.
"Not something I would tell you!" Luna bark back, the rumbling getting louder every second.
"Well I heard you were a bit, evil." Dead asked with a grin forming, if Luna answered it correctly she would know what was coming.
"It is not something I care about. Do not bring up the past if you want to live." Luna hissed at Dead as the rumbling became incredibly loud. The ponies who were outside had ran inside in fear of what was to come. "But yes. I was."
Dead let out a large sigh. "Well then I hope your happy, go grab the elements. We will need some support if we are to take what is coming." Dead said as she prepared a large summoning spell.
