The life of Icewing

Heya! Thought you'd be back around, where was I last..? Oh right, school...it wasn't fun, but at least had a few enjoyable parts! So it was a few weeks after Swift had taken me in (And it was the most awesome few weeks ever!) but then he decided that I really need to go to school. Not that I'm stupid, I just needed to. Every filly my age needed too..let's just get to the chase before I ramble.

Me and Swift were walking towards the school, and I was in no way happy. Being woken up this early for school was really annoying...how did ponies do it every day when they needed to go? I keep feeling like I'm going to fall over and go back to sleep..

"You'll enjoy it Ice, there's no need to be worried..!" Swift said, even though I was in complete denial.

"Suure.." I yawned. "Are you really sure I can't just-"

"No."

"But-..!"

"Nu-uh. Not happening" He chuckled lightly. "If I didn't take you in today, I'm pretty sure Cheerilee would not be too happy. Just think of all the new friends you'll be making!"

My ears flopped down a bit..I though Beat and Swift were friends enough. They wouldn't judge or say bad stuff to me. "Is it bad of me to say then that I just want you and Beat as my only friends..?"

Swift sighed lightly. He sat down a few steps away from the school and ruffled my mane with a light warm smile "And it'll stay that way, trust me, but you can't keep me and Beat as your only friends. It's better you get some of your own."

"Fiiiiiine..." I giggled lightly "You win..I'm going in now"

"Atta girl" Swift chuckled and stood back up "Have a good day!" He flared his wings and flew off, back home..where I wanted to be. Oh well, it's only a few hours right..? I straightened myself up and went up the small set of stairs to the door of the School, then knocked. Cheerilee soon answered the door, the best teacher in the world by the way! And smiled bright at me.

"Icewing! It's good to finally see you, Swift told me you'd be here today. Ready to learn?"

"...I guess...?" I laughed nervously.

"Come on in then, I'll introduce you to the class and then show you where to sit." She walked back into the classroom and I followed. And all eyes where on me...even Diamond Tiara and her friend. Ugh.

"Settle down Class!" They stopped talking among themselves and looked up at Cheerilee "This is Icewing, she'll be joining our class from now on. I hope that you will all be on your best behavior with her and treat her nicely. Now then, your seat will be next to Diamond Tiara."

Just what I needed, a seat next to my -enemy-! I wanted to say something at the time and get a new place but I didn't want to be rude..plus I felt shy about asking such. So I slowly went to the seat beside Tiara and took my place. I didn't even need to look to feel the intense heat of a grin from her. I avoided all eye contact with her in hopes she'd leave me be..and as Cheerilee turned to talk and draw something on the chalkboard-

"How was finding ''treasure'', Ice? Fun?" She quietly laughed, I could hear Silver doing the same. I didn't respond to her and kept looking forward.

"Yeah..!" Silver came in "Find anything good?" They laughed a little more, and I huffed. But this was when I actually got helped by three fillies I'm real good friends with now!

"Hey..!" A yellow furred, red maned filly came in "Leave her alone, Diamond! She ain't done nothin' to ya!"

"Or what?" She glared daggers at her "What're you going to do, blank flank?"

Another filly came into the heated argument, a orange furred and purple-ish maned one. "Or you'll regret it, that's what..! You know we're pretty good with pranks and stuff, we could get you easy!"

"Girls!" The four immediately turned back to Cheerilee and smiled innocently, who wasn't happy they were fighting once more. "Honestly, can you not behave and not fight in front of the new student..?" She shook her head, turning back to the chalkboard and going on with the lesson. From then on it was, thankfully, fight and trouble free up until the first break. We were all let outside and I was thankful Diamond and Silver strutted off to leave me alone.

I rolled my eyes and sighed "Stupid jerk.."

"Ah know, right?" A giggle came from the filly who had helped me earlier, known as Applebloom. She joined me by my side "She can be such a pain."

Scootaloo, the other filly who had aided me in my time of need, came up as well and snickered "Good thing cool fillies like us have got your back!" Applebloom seemed to have rolled her eyes and smiled at Scootaloo's usual wording.

"Ya're so like Rainbow, it's unreal" She giggled.

"I know, and it's a good thing!" She smirked.

Another filly joined us who was with both Scootaloo and Applebloom, her name being Sweetie Belle. "Hi Icewing! Sorry about Diamond and Silver..they gave us a hard time on the first days of school as well, but we won't let them bother you too much!" She squeed "I'm Sweetie Belle, this is Applebloom and Scootaloo, it's nice to meet you."

"It's nice to meet you three as well" I smiled bright "Wow, already made new friends. That was way easier then I thought" I laughed.

Applebloom chuckled "Hehe, good ta be your first three friends! Oh, can ah ask? What were they botherin' ya about..? Somethin' to do with treasure is all ah heard"

Oh good..now I'll look like a fool to my first three friends. Or well, so I thought. "You promise you won't laugh..?" The three of them shook their heads "Alright, I'll explain from the beginning." I then went through all that happened that day, from when Diamond told me about the treasure, to being chased by a hydra, then being saved by Swift. I couldn't help but shudder at the memory of being chased by the huge scary thing as well..

"Whoooaaa...You got chased by a Hydra and got away with it?!" Scootaloo gleamed "Wow, that's cool!"

"Ah don't think nearly being squished counts as cool, Scootaloo.." Applebloom added.

"Yeah..they've nearly done the same to us, but we know most the time there lying now" Sweetie sighed "At least you got out alive..!"

"And thankfully nopony knows but them!" I smiled lightly to myself, and the three laughed a little. I was so glad that they were way more friendly then how Diamond and Silver acted. I hope the rest of the class were a little more better as well.

"Let's go find a place to sit down, we can keep on talking then!" Scootaloo has suggested and we agreed, heading over to a tree and sitting underneath the shade. And as we settled down, I told them all about myself. The normal stuff, y'know? What I liked, what I didn't, where I was staying and all that. And in return, they told me all about themselves as well and even about the Cutie Mark Crusaders. I laughed at every little story they told me about what they did and how they tended to mess up in silly little ways.

"I'm sure you three will get your cutie marks soon!" I cheered, smiling bright.

"Thank ya, Ice. We sure are tryin' but nothin' seems to work so far...ah wonder what we're missing..." Applebloom thought to herself.

Sweetie giggled lightly at her train of though, and looked over at me "Thanks! You're really nice to be with, by the way." She smiled bright.

"I am? Wow, thanks!" I smiled back, this felt all types of cool..!

Soon, the bell began to rang and the four of us hurried back into the Classroom, and after a long few hours of class and another break, it was finally the end of the day. I walked out with my three new friends and I saw Beat wave me over. "See ya guys! I can't wait to see you tommorow!" I smiled and they said goodbye to me as well, as I trotted over to Beat

"Heh, makin' friends easy?" Beat chuckled "Swift told ya it'd be easy."

"Yeah yeah..don't rub it in Mr. DJ" I laughed and started heading home with Beat "Why hasn't Swift come to pick me up anyway?"

"He was a little busy with something. Something to do with Rainbow? I dunno, he didn't explain."  Beat shrugged.

"Huh..weird. Oh well!" I smiled. It was a pretty good day today..

So that was my first day..wasn't as bad as I'd originally thought it would be. Maybe if I'm lucky Diamond won't be too much of a bother tommorow, ah well, we will see!
