Chapter Twenty-One: Phoenix

I awoke in some sort of weird dark green room, with a vortex pattern imprinted in the walls. The light bulb glowed an iridescent green. A commanding voice suddenly boomed out,

Don’t fuck up this time

“Wha- How am I still alive…?” I asked, searching for clues.

The deal was to bring you here, and keep you alive. I’m giving you a second shot…DON’T fuck it up. There is no third try. Do you hear me?

“I…I guess, but how the hell am I still…?”

Good. Then we have nothing else to discuss.

A bright red light suddenly enveloped my vision and I found myself literally being thrown into the past, and I then saw the Princess standing in my face.

“Hello Earth.”

“Err…hello there, Princess. You look…uh, different! Did you get a new body?”

Appalled at my strange question, Chrysalis simply raised her hoof. “I need to speak with you.” She said, feigning Celestia’s voice; now that I had heard her actual voice, there was an undertone that I could scarcely detect to indicate it was Chrysalis.

“Uh, huh, sure. Listen, I’ll get back to you. I’m sure you can wait on me.” I said to her, just as the party ponies began to stream into the doors. She was going to grab me again, but I simply said “…Wouldn’t want to create a scene and ruin you’re grand ‘plans’, now would we?”

“H-How in Tartarus do you…”

“Please, Chrysalis, I know a lot of things.”

Her eyes widened when I called her by her actual name.

“Yes, Queen Chrysalis, I know that’s you in disguise!” I said, a little louder. I got the attention of the nearest ponies.

“Yes, Queen Chrysalis, I know that you’re trying to have sex with me so you can increase your powers!!” I said, nearly shouting. All the other ponies ceased talking and had their eyes focused on us

“Yes, Queen Chrysalis, I know that-“

She gave me a quick, deft hoof to the jaw, and shape shifted into her true form. “Well, then Earth, I bet you didn't know your dear Princesses’ are trapped in the depths of Tartarus!” Furious that her plans were now on permanent hiatus, she fired a laser beam at me. I attempted to deflect it with a bolt of my own, but failed miserably. Her beam completely tore through my bolt, and subsequently her magic coursed throughout my body. I jittered a lot and felt the electricity rattling my teeth, and I fell against the marble floor.

She was quickly swept aside from a bolt by Twilight Sparkle, and the rest of the Mane Six. Pinkie quickly came to my side and winked. “Right after this Earthy durthy!”

Oh…please NEVER call me that again.

They all confronted Chrysalis, and after a rather explosive battle, they managed to leave Chrysalis in Tartarus and extract Luna and Celestia safely. While everypony was celebrating inside, I decided to venture outside and ponder why I was brought back.

“They had a job to bring me here…and make sure I stay alive.” I recited. But who assigned that job to them? And why was I to be kept alive? Was I just going to be the pawn of some other grand scheme? I then thought about Earth; could I ever make it back there alive? I wanted too, because as nice and cheerful as this world was, this wasn't where I belonged. Hell, it might even take a while to re-adjust to life back on Earth, but I know I’d bring the good spirits I've learned here back with me. If I could bring one of the ponies with me, even if it was a copy of some sort, I could help spread cheer back home...after all, what better proof to be the “Broniest of the Bronies” than have a real life pony from the show? Or any other sort of trinket. I could even-

Wait, damn…did I just think that? Am I really a brony now? Wait a fucking second, is that even important now? That should be on my list of LEAST important things right now.

Once I was finished thinking, I went back inside to be congratulated for my assistance in defeating Chrysalis.

Technically, Earth didn't die. Rather, the Odd Force that brought back Earth BEFORE he died, simply reverting time to a prior moment.
