History of Midnight Slash

Midnight looked at the memory orb on his bedside table " I guess since I can't sleep now would be as good a time as any to look at this again" he said. He sat up and grabbed the orb. He concentrated with his magic and was sucked into the memory.

Midnight felt smaller and younger he felt his head turn and he saw his reflection. He realized how different he looked when he was younger his fur was a deep blue his mane was a Dark blue with black streaks and he didn't have fangs. Then he saw made his father was standing behind him.

"Come on Slash its time for me to show you how to forge lunar steel" Midnight blood said. Midnight Blood was a tall unicorn with white fur. His mane was blood red with white streaks in it. He was wearing what appeared to be an earlier version of the Lunar Spartan armor.

" Okay dad I'll be right there" Midnight Slash said. He stood up and stretched his wings and stood up. He followed his father downstairs. On the way down they passed another room. Slash looked in and saw his sister sitting at a desk reading a book on portals to alternate dimensions.

Dragon Beat was a short Alicorn who for reasons unknown had dragon wings. Her fur was a dark teal colored. Her eyes were a deep lavender color. Her cutie mark was a golden music note. She looked up and saw Midnight Slash. " This book would probably help you more than me since your specialty is summoning portals anyways" she said.

" Okay I'll get it on my way back up to my room" Slash said. He turned and caught up with his father who was almost to the forge in the basement. He looked out a huge vaulted window and saw the barren landscape of the moon. " I hate living here" he said sullenly.

" I know so do I" Midnight Blood said. The whole afternoon was spent teaching Midnight slash how to find lunar steel and how to properly forge it. About 17:00 Midnight Blood had taught pretty much every thing he knew about Lunar steel to Midnight Slash. " Well son I've taught you everything I know about Lunar steel" Midnight Blood said. " And II have given you your armor I suggest you practice using it" he suggested.

" OK dad I'll practice for a little while" Slash said. He began practicing summoning the armor and weapons. After about two hours of practice Midnight Slash returned to his chambers. " I'm so bored" he sighed. " I guess I could practice summoning portals maybe ill get to see Bass Breaker again" he said excitedly. He stood up and walked to the center of the room. He began concentrating and his horn began to glow. A small light appeared in front of him so he concentrated harder an overglow of magic shining on his horn. He realized how tired he was and was about to end the spell when the portal fully formed and drained him of the little remaining energy he had he blacked out. He came to and jumped up because he heard the sound of fighting in the halls. He summoned his armor and rushed out of his room.

The first place he checked was his sisters room he instantly regretted it. His sister was lying on the floor in a pool of her own blood a gaping hole in her chest where she had been impaled. Rage filled him he rushed out of the room and down the tower stairs. He entered the main room which was in complete chaos. The lunar guards were in the middle of a battle with changelings and some creature that looked like a wolf made of wood. Slash saw his father fighting two changeling generals at once. Midnight Bloods dual scythes knives were more than a match for the changelings spears. he cut down the first. The second general was obviously smarter than the first because he flew out of range quickly. Slash noticed however many times the wolves were killed they always seemed able to just stand right back up. The guards were losing some of the changelings had morphed and were disguised as guards. This caused even more chaos. Slash saw a guard behind his father the guard stabbed a changeling that was about to kill Midnight Blood. Then suddenly the guard morphed into a changeling and stabbed Midnight Blood through the chest with a spear. Midnight Blood looked surprised then he collapsed.

Pure unbridled rage coursed through Midnight Slashes body Suddenly he felt different his fur changed to a solid black he grew fangs his wings turned into dragon wings and his mane changed to match his fur. sadly he realized he had let a demon posses him. Then he realized it wasn't a very powerful demon. He would purge it from himself later for now he had additional strength to use. He began slicing his way into the crowd letting his anger guide him. When he was finished there were only five guards left alive. The rest of the room was nothing but a pile of mangled pile of changeling corpses many were decapitated. He ran to his father. " Dad Are you allright" Slash asked. He realized what a stupid question that was. " I mean is there anything I could do to help you".

" No there isn't just promise me you will survive and protect your mother" Midnight Blood said weakly. He removed his helmet and coughed up blood. " Don't let Celestia find you if she does she will surely kill you" Midnight Blood said. " In my forge there is a safe in that safe is the design for the armor use it and form the Lunar Spartans" he said weakly. He stared out into the sky and breathed his last breath.

Midnight realized he was crying when he returned to the current time he looked into the mirror and realized he was forever haunted by this memory he was the reason his father and sister were dead. If he hadn't summoned that portal his family would still be together. He looked in the mirror even traces of the demon couldn't be completely removed. He still had fangs and his fur and mane were still that of the demons the only thing normal was his wings. He stood and walked to the display case in his room in it was a dark teal set of armor with a gold music note on the chest piece. The plaque read "In memory of Dragon Beat loving daughter and Amazing sister". He walked to the bed and got in. He drifted off to sleep.
