Argue Crew in Equestria
Spunk
Previous ChapterNext ChapterDavid Jensen
David had been waiting for Vinyl outside of Hoofbeat. Since the night before, he had remade an old song of his on the laptop Vinyl provided him. "I'll show that bitch." He said to the bouncer. "This'll make all of her songs sound Skrillex-tier." The bouncer gave him a sideways glance. "You really wanna put her out of the business this bad?" The bouncer asked as he continued working his shift. "Well, no..." David replied, clutching the laptop. "I just want to put that bitch in her place. I mean, who cares if she loses one club? She's one of the biggest mixers in Equestria, right?" The bouncer scoffed. "Where have you been the past few months? She's lucky she's getting any gigs after she worked on that Wonderbolts song." He explained. "Wonderbolts song? That one with Pinkie?" David asked. "Yeah. One of the lowest on the charts. She hasn't made any money off of it, either."
David leaned against the wall in thought. Damn, tells you what one small mistake could do to you in the music industry. While he was thinking, Vinyl arrived at the club. "What's up, big guy?" She greeted him. "So, you got your show-stopping track ready?" David nodded. "Yeah." He answered. Whatever, fuck this bitch. She probably still has money from her previous works, right? "Well, how about you go up first, then?" She offered with a sarcastic grin. "I'm sure the club'll be begging to hear a no-name like you play your music for them." David faked a laugh. "Yeah, fuck you too." He retorted as he followed her through the side door.
The inside of Hoofbeat was just as flashy as it was outside. The club's entire floor was illuminated in sky blue, and the platform for the DJ had appeared to be vomited on numerous times. Absolutely disgusting. David thought as he set up his equipment. "Well, big guy, the club opens up in a couple minutes, good luck!" She laughed as she went to the bar. While setting up, David took note of the amounts of shots Vinyl had been downing. 4, 5, 6...Jesus Christ, she's gone through all those in 2 minutes? He thought to himself.
Overall, David's performance had been amazing. Many of the ponies had loved his work, some even coming up to him afterwards asking for links to his track. The manager had came up to him after the clubbers left. "Well, kid, you've got spunk. How's about you work for us full time? That Wonderbolts mare's got nothing on you, son!" He said to David. "Sure!" David eagerly replied. The staff had been ecstatic when they heard of his employment. Although David could see one pony who hadn't been too happy: Vinyl. After downing another shot, she stumbled out of the club in drunken sadness.
"Well, you did it." The Bouncer said as they sat outside of the club. "You got Vinyl fired. Didn't know you had it in you." David felt guilty over taking her job. "Well, it isn't really that bad for her, right? I mean, doesn't she still have money from all her other songs?" He asked. The Bouncer shook his head. "Nope. She shoveled that all into the funding of that stupid bass cannon. She's been living off her marefriend for weeks now." He replied. David tried to shake the guilt off. "Serves her right. She's a complete bitch." He said to the Bouncer. "Pfft, whatever you say." David got up. "I'm going to find a place to stay. I'd prefer not to sleep in the slums again."
As he walked off, David could feel the regret on his shoulders. She doesn't mean anything to me. He thought. So why do I feel so bad?
