Meow and I
An Afternoon That Lasts
Previous ChapterNext Chapter"Hey Crystal! Are you going anywhere after work?" Meow asked as I entered into the kitchen to get my food.
"Uh, not really just coming back home and seeing you guys when I get back like I normally do when I get back from work. Why?" I responded grabbing an apple from the fridge.
"Well, I want to take you someplace special for dinner. I already asked one of your friends if they could watch Emerald and Comet for a couple of hours."
"Okay, sure! Where do you wanna eat?" Just by his statement of taking me out to dinner got my heart racing, Meow had taken me out to dinner before while we were out traveling with the doctor in the TARDIS. But this was completely different, this was actually going out into public and eating dinner together.
"We're going to the little café down the street, nothing really fancy but..."
"Don't worry about fancy, that part will make it amazing. And that I'll get to spend some time with you."
Meow smiled, "Good, I'll meet you there once you get out of work."
"Alright. Love you guys."
Meow's POV
Once Crystal left the house and it was only the girls and I, I quickly grabbed up the bits that I had collected from the small jobs that I had done most days for ponies around town and I walked out the door. Emerald Rose and Comet left shortly behind me to leave for school. I headed towards the local jeweler that was about a mile away from the house.
"Ah! Mr. Kolenko, soon to be Mr. Feather. How are you doing on this fine morning?" Garnet Rock asked, "Do you have the last part of the payment for the ring you want?"
"You bet your flank I do have that! The time has come, I'm going to ask Crystal that one special question. And her daughter Emerald approves of me finally. DO you remember that Diamond Dog that had spontaneously appeared in the middle of the Crystal Empire and the filly in his evil clutches?"
"How could any pony forget that. Probably the most interesting thing that has ever happened here, other than Sombra," he quivered, "Who was that filly in his paws anyways?"
"That was Emerald, I came out a rescued her and then Princess Cadence took care of the rest of that ratchet thing. And even though that was a random thing that happened, she counted that as my test and now has let me have her mom, and for once instead of calling me Meow, she has called me her dad."
"Well, I can say this Meow," Garnet Rock stated as he handed me the little box containing the ring, "She truly has chosen a great stallion to care for her little filly. And you have chosen an amazing mare to care for yours."
Crystal's POV
Late that evening I made my way towards the little café down the street still carrying my saddlebag filled with my nice blue notebook and lucky crystal quill. Thoughts were spiraling in my head about what possible reason, that seemed logical to me. Opening the door, there alone inside was Meow; the lights were dimmed down enough to where only the candles that were sitting on the table was the lighting in the room, beside the table was Meow wearing his Equestrian Air Force Uniform and a small box was tucked under his right wing.
"Glad you could make it Crystal. Are you ready?" Meow asked, "I have your favorite thing made, peanut butter and grass sandwiches."
I could tell Meow was a little nervous; sweat was dripping from the side of his head, his smile seemed nervous and his eyes were kind of darting from one place to another. But he stepped away from the table revealing the delicately made sandwiches all decorated on the plate. Sitting down to eat, Meow hardly ever touched the sandwich and I know that he likes these as well. As I slightly glanced down to look at the sandwich below me to take another bite, I noticed Meow go under his wing and grab the small box that was there.
He cleared his throat and grabbed onto my free hoof as I placed the sandwich down and says, "Crystal Feather, I know we have known each other for about two years now and like I am so happy that we found each other. We danced together at the Galatic Ball and had our first dance, kiss and we sang together, we traveled through time together, and the moment that we split apart I felt like a part of me had just died." he opened up the tiny box revealing a small blue diamond ring, "Crystal Feather, will you marry me?"
***
Standing on a tall stand, with my flowy white dress trailing behind me; Safire, Metal Note, Divine Oath, and Glowing Frolic were all in the room with me. Metal Note dolling up my mane, Safire helping Metal in the best way that they could, Glowing getting my high heeled shoes on and Divine Oath doing a little bit of make up but not too much. Once they all took a step back from me, I looked into the mirror... the front of my mane was curled in certain spots, like in the front part to the back was curled around my ears, the back part was waved out like how Metal did hers for church most Sundays; placed in my mane was white flowers and right above me left ear was the last crystal quill I had ever made, my dress and shoes sparkled against the sunlight as I turned in different directions to see the different perspectives of the white dress.
I smiled, eyeing a red hoof tapping me on the shoulder, Safire handed me a bouquet of flowers; the dark blue flowers in the shade of the TARDIS, crystalized roses in all different shades of jewels, and a single purple flower with a hint of orange mixed in with it. Grabbing a hold of it, Safire took a step back. Looking at every pony, they all had a smile on their faces like today was a day they were looking forward to see me move on.
"Are you ready?" Metal Note asked helping me down the tall stand.
I swallowed as all four of my hooves hit the floor, "I think so." Safire, Divine and Glowing trotted out of the room to the following one that sat just beyond the new journey I was about to endure. I was stopped halfway to the door by Metal Note with her lavender hoof on my back, her dark brown eyes staring at me with worry, typical for her.
"Are you sure your ready? I know you normally don't tell ponies what is going on." Metal Note asked, "Are you nervous?"
I remembered back in my tenth grade year, being in the choir at church, there was one day when her and I were walking together some-pony had sent her a message that apparently had worried her and she told me, "It's my family's blood in me that whenever you send one of us a message, please tell me what it is so then I don't worry about it."
"I am really nervous Metal, I know I said yes but something in my gut is saying that I should back out, grab Emerald Rose and run." I responded, "I want to be with Meow, but at the same time... I just want to run away."
Metal Note paused, " It's just a natural thing to be scared over something, believe me I know. And it's normal for entering into a new commitment like a marriage, I was frightened at my wedding as well."
"But you love your husband, Lunar Sketch."
"Exactly, just like you love Meow. Listen, take a deep breath and think about the happy times that are going to happen to you two in the future. Emerald Rose and Comet are going to have a couple of ponies that are in love to set an example to them what true love really is and it's incredible that the both of you coming from two different time periods that have almost a lot in common; both have lost some pony in your lives and have the same desire to protect the things that you love the most. I didn't choose Lunar Sketch because of his beauty, although he is ruggedly handsome I must say, I chose him because I saw within him that he was going to be a godly father to our foals. Love definitely is unexplainable for ponies like us, but something about it always seems right. You come to love not by finding the perfect pony, but by seeing an imperfect pony perfectly. Face this new journey head on like you have done with every other problem that has come your way."
I smiled, "Thanks Metal, don't know what I would do without you in my life... I'm ready now."
She nodded her head and led me out the door and handed me off to my Uncle Oil who led me down the isle. The wedding came out just like I had wanted it, except, of course, something that had to go wrong from the probably most likely pony that I know. Crystal Skies was dancing with Night Beat on the dance floor right before I would have the dancefloor to myself with Meow, her hooves had slipped from under her and Night accidentally launched her under the table where I was. The only thing that really mattered to me was that she was okay and back on her hooves. After all the ponies left Meow and I headed on our way to Rainbow Falls for our honeymoon together, my mom was going to watch Emerald Rose and Comet while we were gone.
