Chap. 1: When The Day Met The NightView OnlineMind GamesChap. 1: When The Day Met The NightI can't believe this, I can't believe that I'm stuck here. Stuck on the same moon I used to raise every night. More importantly, I can't believe what I've done, er, tried to do. Maybe I'm getting a bit ahead of myself, hello... me? I'm Princess Luna, the princess of the night. At least I was until just about a month ago. I'm writing this to myself, since I'm sure I'll be stuck here for an eternity, really, I deserve it. If I'm going to be on the moon forever, I might as well write down my experiences so that I can remember everything I've gone through. If I forget something as the years go by, I can just revisit this! Though, seeing that you're me, I'm sure you already know that. Let's start from the very beginning, the day I was born. I was born on a-... actually, I don't know when I was born. Not that surprising, when you've lived for eons and eons, time seems to stop mattering. The only time when Celestia or I would ever care about time would be if we have an appointment. Now, on the moon, who am I going to have an appointment with, rock #2010? Anyways, I was born on October 22, don't know the year or time, though. Since day one, I was meant to be the princess of the night. My mother would train me to one day raise the moon, while my sister, Celestia, was being trained to raise the sun by our father. Naturally, I didn't see our father often. I slept during the day and he slept during the night, so we were rarely up at the same time. And for our mother, she was always more of a teacher to me than an actual mom. I also had little to no friends, I always knew that I would outlive them, so I didn't want to be too close to them. I don't recommend it. Celestia, on the other hoof, was a completely different story. She was very close to a lot of the citizens of Equestria, especially our parents. That was probably why she was always a lot happier than I was. Remember when I said, "little to no friends"? Well, that was partially a lie. I did have one friend, a friend that I had throughout my entire life. Just thinking about her makes me incredibly sad, imagining how she must feel like with me now being on the moon. Her name is Princess Celestia. I can remember, even though just barely, her skipping training just so she could play with me. I remember having a lot of fun, and throughout most of my life, she was my only friend. She did get in trouble every once and a while for skipping her training for me, but she never really cared. As long as she had me and I had her, we were both very happy. When I first learned how to write, Celestia got me a diary. I absolutely loved it, I wrote my deepest and darkest of secrets in it every day. I can just imagine her reading through it right now just trying to see what came over me earlier. Author's Note Elos Nimnuts to the first chapter of a fic I've been very excited to write for a very long time now! I got the idea to do this from the My Little Pony marathon The Hub had back a few months ago, in 2014 if you're from the future. In it, Twilight was asked where'd she go if she could travel back in time & to anywhere. She responded by saying that she'd go see Celestia & Luna grow up. Suddenly, a pool of ideas came over me, I guess inspiration can come from the strangest of places. This chapter a lot more of an introduction than an actual chapter, but I hope you enjoy anyways!
Chap. 2: Live And Let DieView OnlineMind GamesChap. 2: Live And Let DieNot too much later, something truely amazing happened. I can still remember waking up to hearing Celestia screaming and yelling out of delight. When I came downstairs, both of our parents had the greatest smiles on their faces. When I asked what was going on, they both told me, "Look" and pointed at Celestia's flank. When I looked, there it was, her cutie mark! It was of a sun, obviously meant to symbolize her special talent, her ability to raise the sun. A smile grew on my face, from ear-to-ear, as I ran to my sister and I hugged her for a good 3 minutes. Our parents joined in less than half a minute in. We were all very proud of her newfound mark. To celebrate, our parents threw a big celebration open to the public. My sister called it the Grand Galloping Gala and it was to be held every year. Our castle was placed in Canterlot, a city known for its snootiness. So you could imagine that it was a very boring event, both Celestia and I hated going to it. Nothing exciting ever happened at the Grand Galloping Gala, except for one year. Sadly, the excitement wasn't at all a good thing for anypony. One year, the queen of the crystal empire, the changelings, and the crystal ponies, at a time they were in peace, came to the Gala. I believe her name was Queen Symfore and she had one daughter. Her daughter was named Princess Chrysalis and her husband was dead due to natural causes. Along with them, came two crystal ponies and two changelings. This year, my sister and I faked an illness so that we could get out of going, I heard that it was just as boring as any other Gala. That night though, the two changelings hid while all the other guests left. When they were all alone, they changed themselves to look like Celestia and I so that they could move around the castle easily. The next thing they did was go to the kitchen and grabbed our sharpest knives. Walking up to our parents bedroom, the changelings killed them both on the spot and fled. Both Celestia and I were in a deep sleep at the time. They were both caught less than a week later and explained how they did it. As for why, they said it had to do with how Equestria was being ran. I didn't understand politics back then, and I'm pretty sure that my knowledge on it only got worse. So I didn't really understand their motivations. The death of the king and queen hurt all of Equestria. Queen Symfore sent out an appology letter stating that she didn't, nor did anypony else in her kingdom, have anything to do with the attack. The two changelings were sentenced to death. Personally, this didn't hit me that hard. Like I said, it was almost like I barely knew them. But my sister took the biggest blow, she truely knew our parents how I never did. She blamed herself for their death and was put into deep depression. I really did care about her, Celestia was more like a mother to me than my own mother. So, the biggest blow I took was having to see my own sister like this for a very long period of time. I nearly fell under the same state, if I didn't fake an illness, this wouldn't have happened. Celestia wouldn't be like this if I didn't skip the Gala. But I quickly got over it because I had to. So that I could be there for her. I tried to be there for her as often as possible and tried to calm her down. It seemed like it was useless trying to help since I was never able to get her to believe that it wasn't her fault. But I still tried because I knew that she would do the same thing for me if it was the other way around. A close friend of the family, Starswirl The Bearded, took rule over the kingdom while Celestia was unable to. I always called him Uncle Starswirl and he was the greatest magician in all of Equestria! One day I went to him seeking some help and he taught me this really neat spell. He called it "Dream Weaver" and it gave me the ability to go into anypony's dream. I, of course, used it to enter Celestia's dreams, to better understand what she's going through. They were more like nightmares, always dark and foggy. They were almost always about our parents and the night they were killed. How she could have and should have saved them. I remember one dream where she went through the entire Gala and when the changelings came to kill our parents, she turned the knives on them. It quickly got bloody and it took me hours to stop crying for her. That she had these aweful dreams, it wasn't like her to wish death upon somepony. Apparently, these two didn't apply to this unspoken rule. At one point, I was sick of trying and sick of not making a difference in Celestia's life. So, I decided to go into her nightmare world one last time... except, this time, it wasn't a nightmare. It was about... me! I was so shocked that I stayed in there longer than usual. It seemed more like flashbacks to when our parents were alive, back when she would do anything just to be with me. When we were at our happiest and all of a sudden, a pool of memories washed into my brain. Of times when Celestia would skip training to play with me. That night, I remembered why I was still here for her, because she was there for me. Needless to say, I cried like a filly. Author's Note Chapter 2 & it's already getting better. If anyone's familiar with ConspiraPon3, you could probably tell that I kind of borrowed his conspiracy about Chrysalis. It's a really good one & I'm going to expand upon that a bit more as the story continues.
Chap. 3: Smile, Smile, SmileView OnlineMind GamesChap. 3: Smile, Smile, SmileThis continued for too long. The only thing keeping me from ever quitting on her were the memories of a time when Celestia was there for me, rather than the other way around. It helped that I actually felt like I was making a difference, that I was helping the pain go away. At some point, I just stopped going into her dreams as often. I just couldn't handle going through that more often than I needed to. Maybe I'd do so once a month. Any more than that and I'd start going through depression as well. Some of the imagery I saw while in there... I just don't want to talk about. Trust me, those are things that I'm better off forgetting and not remembering. During these times, the Grand Galloping Gala was stopped completely. Not only because neither of us wanted to deal with planning it and all that, but also because of what happened last time. Because of that incident, we both kind of had trust issues, especially towards the Crystal Empire. The only ponies I knew I could trust were Celestia, Uncle Starswirl, and myself. Celestia was in the same boat I was in, just a lot worse, and I knew Starswirl well enough to where we'd mess around and trust each other... a lot. I called him Uncle for my sake (several years have passed and I still have yet gotten used to using my name as a swear). Not too long after I stopped entering Celestia's dreams as often, the greatest thing imaginable happened! After our parents' death, I continued my training to raise the moon. I didn't have a trainer, so I had to teach myself with my sis giving me pointers every once in a while. In the mean time, Celestia was the one raising and lowering the sun and moon. She said that the moon was a breeze compared to the sun, as you can imagine, that didn't do much to help my self esteem. One day, I was trying to put the moon in the sky with Celestia right next to me, as usual. I put all my energy into it, as I normally did. This lasted a good 5 minutes, at most. Maybe 2 or 3 at least. When I finally gave out, I looked into the sky and it was up there! The moon! I was finally able to raise the moon! My eyes were closed during the process to use as much energy as possible into raising it, but according to everypony who saw it, the moon wiggled and jolted around a bit until it stayed in place. But I didn't care and I still don't care, I raised the goddessdamn moon! Right after the fact, I found my energy come right back to me! I jumped around with glee for what seemed like hours! I didn't care, I was finally able to reach one of my lifelong goals and something that I know only Celestia and I would be able to do for who knows how long! Not even the great and powerful Uncle Starswirl has the ability to do that! As I jumped around, the only thing that stopped me was the look on my sister's face. It was one of shock and surprise, her jaw was wide open and her eyes were centered on my plot. I said the first thing that came to mind, "What? You didn't think I had it in me?" She just continued to stare at my behind like there's text from my diary printed on it. And not the innocent chapters, the really raunchy ones that I hope nopony ever reads. I finally gave into temptation after staring back at her curiously for about a minute or two. That's when I truly saw the greatest thing ever! As I turned my head to look at my own flank, an automatic smile sprawled across my face as I saw it. My cutie mark, I finally got my cutie mark! I just couldn't believe it, I thought it was a horrible prank somepony was playing on me. But no, it was really there! A crescent moon, obviously meant to represent my ability to raise the moon and control the night. I would've probably been disappointed in the lack of creativity with it, but I seriously didn't care. I got my cutie mark! I found myself staring at my bottom along with Celestia for a very long time. We were finally taken out of our daze when Starswirl came over. He said something about how weird the moon was raised today when he finally saw my mark. It seemed like he put two and two together instantly because he suddenly congratulated me for my accomplishment. He gave me a hoof bump continued by, "I didn't think you'd be able to bring it up within my lifetime! Let's hope raising your first coltfriend will be much easier!" I found myself rolling my eyes at that stupid joke as both Starswirl and Celestia came in to give me a great hug. It lasted for at least as long as the hug I gave my sister when she got her mark, maybe even longer. My sister said, "So, when should we start it up again?" Out of confusion, both Starswirl and I said at the exact same time, "Huh!?" "The Grand Galloping Gala, when should we start it back up?" I said, alone, "Why would we start making the Gala a yearly thing again?" "Well, we have to celebrate this momentous occasion somehow. So, give me a date!" "Oh yeah! I forgot that the triple G was created to celebrate the coming of your cutie mark. About two months sounds like a good time frame, what do you think?" Starswirl added, pointing at me. I nodded, agreeing with him, as my sister said jokingly, "And no faking an illness this time." Celestia was happy again! I thought I'd never see the day! I could tell that's exactly what Uncle Starswirl was thinking as well by the way he was looking at her teeth while we were all beaming. I take back what I said earlier, seeing my own sister smile again is the greatest thing ever! Author's Note I believe this chapter is the one that both took the most amount of time to write & went through the most amount of edits. In any case, the last 2 chapters got a fair amount of great feedback that I'll definitely listen to. One critique I heard the most was that I didn't use much detailing, & I'll admit, I've never really been great at doing so. Even this chapter, though a lot more detailed than the last 2, I wish I could've put a bit more detailing into it. Thanks for all the feedback, as a critic myself, I know how important it is to listen to other's criticisms of your work & I'll make sure to listen to them. Now, I'll fix any misunderstandings of the story. Truly is spelled that way! That's autocorrect on Word keeps telling me & I trust it enough to listen to it! Luna, in this story, doesn't talk royally or uses the royal "we" because I straight up think that it would get annoying after the first 2 chapters. Alicorns can die from murder, suicide, or natural causes. Being an alicorn only makes it so that they're stronger & can't die from old age or lack of oxygen. The way their bodies are built makes it so that they can make oxygen out of anything they breathe. Since there's no food or water on the moon, Celestia is sending Luna food & water once a week. That won't be discussed in the story because I want to focus on what was happening to her at the time of she was reading. Yes, I do think that's a silly & stupid excuse, but it's still more than the show gave us. As for Nightmare Moon, that will be discussed more in later chapters. I'd go into greater detail, but I don't want to spoil anything in this story. Thanks again for all the criticisms & keep them coming! I don't care if they're positive or negative, as long as they are actual critiques rather than complaints, I'll listen!
Chap. 4: At The GalaView OnlineMind GamesChap. 4: At The GalaIt was about a month after I got my cutie mark that I got a word about The Grand Galloping Gala. Celestia told me that it would take place the following month in our castle, like how it's always been. The shocking part to me was that she said to go to the Gala naked! This may not seem like a big deal, I'm naked all the time like most ponies (even as I'm writing this and you probably are while reading this). The problem with that was that I always went to the Gala in a fancy dress Mom and Dad had made by a famous dressmaker. I wanted to wear one in their honor, but Celestia insisted that I go naked to show off my cutie mark. Not wanting to remind her of our parents, I didn't put up much of a fight. Celestia and Starswirl planned the entire event, insisting that I "don't worry about it" since it was being held for me and my accomplishment. Naturally I got worried. I don't even remember why, maybe just the phrase "don't worry about it" automatically told my brain that something horrible is going to happen. That's what happened in all the stories I read. Luckily, nothing bad happened. The worst thing that happened was that Celestia and Starswirl argued for a few minutes over whether or not to invite Queen Symfore. That was also the same time I found out that we weren't having an open celebration like the Galas that came before. Everyone that came had to be invited. I wasn't all that surprised, need I remind you what happened at the last open Gala. I was more shocked that they were considering not inviting the queen of The Chrystal Empire. Over that month I didn't do a single thing. Thank Celestia for that, going to The Grand Galloping Gala was boring enough, just imagine planning one. The idea still haunts my nightmares. Maybe with the exception of saying "yes" or "pink" whenever either of them asked me of my opinions of certain decorations, I just read my books and wrote in my diary. Mainly writing though. As much as I loved writing, I wasn't a big fan of reading. About a month later, the Gala finally came, this time, being slightly less boring! At least it was kind of exciting seeing who came, though I didn't know many there. I recognized Portrait Finish, my dressmaker, and that was kind of it. I also noticed a strange creature with antlers, a pony's head, a dragon tail, a claw, and other parts I have no idea what to make of. Celestia said that his name is Discord and he is a draconequus. As the first of his species to come to Equestria since our parents were young, he was invited. We were very keen to talk to him as soon as all the guests stopped coming up to us just to shake our hoof and say things like, "I'm sorry for your loss" and "Congratulations!" Honestly, they got annoying after the first hundred times we heard it! But suddenly, something caught my eye, or, should I say someone. At the corner of my eye I could see Queen Symfore, I recognized her from the pictures I've seen of her in newspapers. But she wasn't what got my attention. That honor goes to the filly, about my age at the time, hiding in Symfore's tail. I didn't need Celestia to tell me that she was Symfore's daughter, Princess Chrysalis. As much as I've heard of her, I've never seen her before. I later found out that was because she's camera shy. Since she's a princess, I just assumed that she was pretty, but I don't think I was ready for this. Chrysalis was beautiful, absolutely gorgeous! Not even the changeling part of her, which she got from her father, could make her ugly. Actually, I think it might have even made her look better, having her stand out even more than she already did. Princess Chrysalis is, to date, the best looking mare I've ever seen in my entire life! I think Celestia could tell what I was thinking (maybe I was drooling, I don't know) because she suddenly told me, "Go talk to her!" I quickly replied, "But I have to stay here and talk to everypony in this never-ending line of congratulations." Like on cue, I heard the next pony in line say, "Congratulations on getting your cutie mark, Princess Luna!" Celestia then said, "Starswirl can take your place." Out of nowhere, Starswirl turned to look at us to say, "What?" At least, that's what I think he said, his mouth was so full of cake, it was hard to tell. I replied back, "But I want to talk to that dragon-equest." "Draconequus, and Starswirl can take my place as well while I talk with him. I'll give you all the details." Again, Starswirl said, "What," while he is trying to inhale the chocolate cake. I said, "But what do I say to her!? It's not like a mare like her would even consider a mare like me. What if her barn door doesn't even swing that way?" "Just go talk to her, the worst that can happen is that she says no. Plus, who can say no to the princess of the night?" "You have a lot more experience with this kind of stuff than I do." "Actually, I don't have as much as you may think. I've only had one coltfriend and we barely even held hooves." I gave her a look of both worry and disappointment as she added, "Just try being friends for a while, what's the worst that can happen!?" "She says no?" I sigh as Celestia nods her head. I was about to speak when the next pony in line says, "I'm so, deeply sorry for your loss." He goes into his life story or something as Celestia whispers to me, "Do you seriously want to talk to every single pony in this line?" I shake my head and said, "Okay, I'll try." I walked away as, I'm sure, to pony speaking's confusion since he stopped talking. Author's Note Oh, I see how it is! When I actually ask for critiques, no one does! Well, screw you too!.. But seriously, keep reading & giving me critiques. As you can probably tell in this chapter, I'm a big fan of Spider-Man & the idea of the hero having a personal connection with the villain. So, all the villains in the show that date back farther than a thousand years will get their time in the spotlight & will play a big role in the plot. The only exception will have to be Tirek, though he's pretty bad ass, I don't exactly know what to do with him. I might give him a chapter that won't play a huge part, but that's a big might. Yes, I do ship Luna & Chrysalis! Is that even a thing? Eh, it is now, Lunalis! I don't think I mentioned this before in the author's notes, so here! All the chapter names will be named after a song I enjoy. The only exception will have to be the first chapter, which plays best as a prologue anyways. Thank you all for reading, liking, following, & commenting on this story. If you didn't, what are you waiting for!? Do it!
Chap. 5: Crystal HeartView OnlineMind GamesChap. 5: Crystal HeartI started trotting up to Chrysalis when half the line began to follow. I gave them a nasty look and most of them went away. The ponies persistent enough to continue coming up to me to talk, I just ignored. None of them said more than 10 words to me. I didn't want to deal with any of them. I continued to trot over to the queen and princess very slowly. Being very nervous, I wasn't sure what to say. Should I start off with a "Hi!" No, that's too obvious. How about "How ya doin'?" No, no, she's obviously bored since she's here. Ooh, I know! I'll ask "You wanna run away with me?" No, too persistent. I looked back to Celestia, whom only gave me a nod. Now, I'm face-to-face with Queen Symfore, with Princess Chrysalis hiding in her tail. It's now or never, so I say, "Hello." Symfore replies, saying, "Hello, Princess Luna. Congrats on getting your cutie mark, it looks lovely. I would also like to say how sorry we are about what happened last time we were here." "We?" I say, as if I didn't know whom she was talking about. "Yes. I, Chrysalis, and our entire kingdom! Come out Chrysi and say hello to the princess," Symfore said to her daughter. She spoke to Chrysalis as if she was still a very young child, even though we were both preteens at the time, for our lifetimes. I leaned, so that I was looking straight at Chrysalis, she was even more beautiful up close. I said to her, "Hello." Chrysalis replied with a very quiet, "Hi." She then looked up to see me, a great beam grew on her face. Automatically, she recognized me. Not only as Princess Luna, but also as somepony her age. Chrysalis shot up and became very hyper, as if I was a new species she's never seen before. Princess Chrysalis bombarded me with questions faster than I could answer them. I was able to quiet her down a bit after a few moments. Queen Symfore then added, "Haha, I can see you two have really hit it off, I'm going to talk to Rivera. Why don't you two talk and get to know each other?" We talked for the rest of the Gala. Asking each other questions, running about, and pulling pranks on everypony. I found out that she's very shy, her favorite band is The Beach Colts, her favorite song is Equestrian Rhapsody, her favorite book is 50 Shades of Black, and so much more that I still have memorized! We put a bucket of water on top of a door so that it would fall on top of the next pony who opened it and gave ponies really nasty foods and oh so much more! They all squealed in terror, while we did the same out of delight. Kind of useless information now, so I won't bombard myself with it all. But that Gala was still amazing! Sure, we got in a bit of trouble, but at the end of the day, the worst we did were harmless pranks. Not to mention, even Celestia was laughing at most of them. Either that, or she was laughing at how silly we looked pulling them. That Gala was definitely one to remember and one I still haven't forgotten and won't anytime soon. Chrysalis and I became very close friends, I even started calling her Chrysi too! Around the end of the Gala, she had a great idea. She ran to Queen Symfore while I ran towards Celestia so that we could ask them if it's okay. Since they both said yes, it was official! Chrysalis and I were going to have our first sleep over at the Chrystal Castle! I ran to my room to pack up a few things. Only the essentials, like a toothbrush, toothpaste, etc. Then, as soon as the Gala was over, Symfore, Chrysi, and I flew to the Chrystal Empire. Since we were all alicorns and the empire wasn't that far away, we just flew there. When we entered the kingdom, it was nothing like what I've seen before. Everything, from the plants to the pony residents, seemed to be made of chrystal. Everyone was really shiny, even my coat got crystallized when I entered. The changelings and ponies of the city were very nice and greeted me with the biggest smiles on their faces. It was so weird seeing an empire housing multiple species. Sure, the rest of Equestria is filled with pegasi, unicorns, earth ponies, and the four alicorns, being Celestia, Symfore, Chrysalis, and I. But all of them seem to fall under, "pony." The most we get are griffons or minotaurs, but they only seem to visit the country for short periods of time. Heck, even then they usually have to handle racist slurs from the less tolerable of the citizens. I guess there's Discord, but who knows how long he's staying and how everypony else is going to react if he does. Here, in the Chrystal Empire, it was inspiring seeing the 4 pony races be in peace with living with a completely different species. As I was entranced by this new location, I didn't notice that we have arrived at the Chrystal Castle. I even flew into it. Luckily, I was close to the ground, or else that would've really hurt. I could hear both Symfore and Chrysalis make noises that sounded like concerned laughing. They both had trouble asking me if I was okay over their laughter. Since I was, they continued for a few more seconds. At some point, I even joined in the joy they were having. That was the first sign that this night would be one of the most fun and interesting nights I'd have for a long time. We all stepped into the castle one after the other. First Symfore, then Chrysi, then me. The first thing Symfore did was say, "Make yourself at home," as she headed towards her kitchen. She made Chrysi and I sandwiches and then went to bed saying, "I'm starting to get sleepy, I think I'll head to bed. Don't stay up too late you two, you hear?" We both nodded as we also thought about what we could do. Obviously, we couldn't make much noise without getting in trouble. Since it was already dark out, we couldn't go outside. We pondered this while eating the sandwiches, I remember mine being delicious! We didn't come up with much. So, we stayed up as long as we could talking and playing board games. We had a lot of fun. There were times I had to keep myself from shoving my lips up against Chrysi's, but she didn't really catch on that I had a crush on her. Overall, it was a great experience that we'd do again and again for a long time at both of our castles. We were both asleep by 2 in the morning, I think I stayed up a tiny bit longer than she did. The next day, I hugged Chrysalis and said goodbye to both her and her mother as I started my way towards Canterlot. As only about a fifteen minute trip, I practically memorized the way right after the first time going over. They both asked me if I needed help getting home, I said I was fine. The first thing I did as soon as I got home? I made myself a cup of coffee, of course! It was a long day as I had to get my sleeping schedual back on track, so that I'd be up at night. Author's Note Sticking with the tradition of every chapter being named after a song, this one is named after a great Poni1Kenobi song! A.K.A. brony with the greatest nickname ever, A.K.A. one of the few Beatle Bronies I have yet to talk to. Anyways, this chapter isn't as good as I'd like it to be. Don't get me wrong, I still like the chapter, but I don't think I knocked it out of the park like I was hoping to. But, it's still as good as I'm able to make it. At some point, I was considering skipping this entire chapter and skip to Luna and Celestia talking about their experiences. Luna, talking about Chrysalis, and Celestia, talking about Discord. But, I thought that would be cheating you readers, so I stuck with this! By the way, does anyone get all of the references in this? I'm pretty sure I spent an entire half an hour just working on the references! Most are pretty obvious, so I'll talk about the 2 that aren't. At some point, Symfore mentions Rivera, that's a reference towards fellow fanfic writer, whom I'm going to be working with on an upcoming story, Riveraisreal. He's a cool guy whose made many stories that would probably fall under "so bad their good." I don't know about all of them, but I've read one that would fit pretty well under that category. And also, the nickname "Chrysi" is a reference to Fluffle Puff. If you don't know whom that is, you might want to rethink your life.
Chap. 7: Golden SlumbersView OnlineMind GamesChap. 7: Golden SlumbersI found myself asking the same question again and again as I just sat there, what do I do now? I just came back from Chrysi's, so I can't hang out with her. Celestia is apparently busy, so I can't bother her. I don't really want to talk to our servants or gaurds, not like they ever really want to talk to me in the first place. There was really only one thing I could do. I got up and out of the castle, stretching my legs. I went out to a cottage not far outside the city to visit a dear friend. A friend I knew wouldn't be very busy but would make time for me even if he was. I trotted for less than twenty minutes before I reached the home of Starswirl the Bearded. I wanted to talk to him about improving my magic abilities. Namely, the Dream Weaver spell. At this point, I could only go into the dreams of ponies nearby, we had to be in the same room. I wanted to go into anypony's dream from anywhere. He trusts me enough to know that I'd only use this ability for good, that was literally what he made me say before he would teach me the spell at all. I only wanted this ability to enter Chrysi's dreams, see what she thinks of me. And maybe enter the dreams of my subjects, get to know them a bit better without even having to leave my castle. Since I go to sleep around the same time she does whenever either of us are spending the night, I couldn't enter her dreams then. And I'd have to be sneaky about this as well, since I doubt Chrysi would be okay with me entering her dreams. Learning how to use this ability long ranged and understanding it better seemed like the best plan. I know it might seem selfish, but I just had to know. I knocked on the front door to Starswirl's cottage. It took him about a milisecond to answer the door. We exchanged "hi"s as he proceeded to invite me in. When I trotted in, I could see the vast array of chemical bottles and books, all spreading across the shelves that aligned the walls. I could see books of every kind; mystery, fantasy, science fiction, and, most importantly, spell books. The latter, of which, was what made up the vast magority of his book collection. According to him, he's read every single one at least twice. I never actually believed that. There had to be a hundred books in here, there was no way he's read them all, let alone twice. The chemical bottles that sat next to the books seemed to have been used as book ends; he was always too cheap to buy propper ones. There were signs on a piece of paper taped to the front of every bottle to tell what was inside of it. Some had the ingredients, others had a skull and crossbones, and others had a radiation symbol. Only the safe ones did he keep on his bookshelves. The truly dangerous bottles were kept on the far side of the room, hidden behind a glass pane. Though he used them often in his little experiments, their first priority were to be his book ends. Whenever he did one of these experiments, I made sure to sit in to watch. They normally just blew up in his face, which never gets old if you ask me. But when they didn't, the experiments created something memorable. Not usually nice, but always something I'd find hard to forget. The room itself was very large. Uncle Starswirl built this entire cottage from the ground up out of clay. He made sure to put his home out of the city as to not endanger anypony's life while doing one of his experiments. Even I don't get to see all of them, only the ones he has declared safe enough for me to watch. The cottage, as a whole, was also very large. Though it consisted of only five seperate rooms; the master bedroom, the guest bedroom, the restoom, the kitchen, and the main room, the room we were currently in. The main room was a combination of living room, library, and work space. He's said that he made sure this room was especially large, since it'd be the one he'd spend the majority of his time in. Okay, second most amount of time, only beaten out by the kitchen. On the far side of the main room, I could see the glass case of dangerous bottles, next to a mirror that matches one Celestia kept in our castle. The sides of the walls that weren't covered by bookshelves had a door that led to one of the other rooms of the cottage. In the center was his experimental table, where he'd perform all of his entertaining observations. To my right was a comfy looking, black recliner next to two wooden barstools that he obviously just kept around so that Celestia and I could sit whenever we visited. This was also where he ate most of his food, but he kept the whole place so clean that you wouldn't be able to tell if it wasn't for the strong smell of sandwiches that came that way. He asked me what I needed and I explained my situation to him, purposely leaving out the part about Chrysi. I didn't need to hear, "Luna and Chrysalis sitting in a tree," every time I came over. He seemed to have understood, maybe a bit too well. "What's his name," he asked in a soothing tone. "What, who!?" I was feeling worried and it obviously came out in my voice. Uncle Starswirl didn't know that I was lesbian, and I don't know how he would react to the sudden news. "Come on, you never really went out of your way to watch over the ponies of Equestria before. There's obviously someone your doing this for, and not your sister this time. You can trust me, I won't mock you or anything of the sort. I just want to know his-" "It's Princess Chrysalis!" I said that as fast and as loud as I possibly could. I cut him off before he could finish his sentence. I knew that he'd keep persisting until I told him and that this is a safe place. There was, admittedly, no real reason to hide my crush for the princess for much longer. He thought about it long and hard for several seconds, I could practically see smoke coming from his brain. And yet, all he could think to say was, "What?" "Princess Chrysalis, of the Chrystal Kingdom. I met her while at the Gala, we quickly became friends and I was quickly swept off my hooves! Something about her, something about how kind and frigile she is, something about how she always seems to stand out in a crowd! How cute she is, how smart she is, how... everything! I absolutely love every little thing about her!" I feel like I might have gotten a bit carried away there, though I meant every word I said. And yet, the only word that he seems to let out of his mouth was, "What?" "What, did you not hear me?" "No, I heard you just fine. I just didn't think you'd be a filly-fooler. Does Celestia or Chrysalis know about this little crush of yours?" "Celestia found out the second I saw her without me having to say. Chrysi is blissfully unaware... I hope. She didn't seem to notice my true feelings for her, yet. But, truth be told, I'm easier to read than I'm able to read others." "Chrysi?" "Yeah, that's my nickname for her." "Alright, I'll teach you the advanced version of the Dream Weaver spell, which will grant you the ability to use the spell on anypony anywhere at any time at all... as long as their sleeping. But, if you wish for me to teach it to you, there are a few conditions you will have to follow. One: do not use this on ponies you aren't good friends with. This can be very rude if used on those you don't personally know well. Two: do not affect the dreams themselves unless you find it necessary. You may only be an observer. Three: don't use this ability too often. It can drain your magical energy pretty quickly if used excesively. Four: don't you dare enter my dreams! Trust me, I will know." I nodded my head at everything he said. I understood it all and understood why he placed all of these rules. I had no objections or questions about anything he was adding. "Five: this is an advanced spell. Therefore, it will take many months of training before you can use it at all. Many more if you'd like to master the spell. Understood?" "Yes." "Good." We spent at least four months before I could use it on somepony. I, of course, used it on Celstia until my training was done. I'd describe what I saw in there, but I'd rather not. Let's just say it was very gross and I puked right after I came back to the real world. After I think about it, that dream kind of reminds me of a few dreams I had of Chrysi. Over that time, Celestia went on many dates with Discord and I got to have many sleepovers with Chrysi, at both of our castles. Celestia has said that their dates went amazingly, I could tell from her dreams. I even got to meet him, kind of. He's been around the castle, but we've never actually said more than two words to each other. Starswirl, on the other hoof... he kind of just did his thing. He didn't have any drama going on, he wasn't seeing anyone, he just helped me learn the spell in his own Starswirl-y way. Though he did put all of his projects on hold to help me out. It wasn't until several months later that I got to enter Chrysi's dreams. I made sure to master my skill before trying it out on her. If Celestia caught me sneaking around in her dream, that would be awkward. If Chrysi found me, I'm not sure what would happen. Nothing good, I sure. When I was finally able to go about in her dreams, it was about the same time the Grand Galloping Gala was on it's way. Since I had to help make it a reality, I put off using the Dream Weaver spell on her until after the Gala. I've been waiting almost a year to use it on her, I guess I could wait another month or so. Author's Note Man, this chapter took me the most amount of time to write. Fitting, seeing how this is really the only chapter I did actual research for. I never actually had to do that for any other chapter, and I'm glad that I did for what's now probably my favorite chapter so far. In any case, let's go over some critiques I've gotten since the last one! First of all, the chapters are just as long as I need them to be. I might make them a bit longer, hopefully the next chapter actually gets past 2,000 words! But, as long as they're over 1,200 words long, I'm not all that bothered. I am definitely more worried about them getting too long than too short. Especially since I'm reading Fallout: Equestria right now, I know, I should've just listened to the audio book. Anyways, I have to proof-read these chapters myself & I'm really sick of spending an hour just to read a chapter. Maybe if I had some pre-readers, I might... have to proof-read them anyways. I kind of blame Fallout: Equestria for everything right now, DAMN YOU KKAT!!! So yeah, I'll try to make these chapters a bit longer, but don't expect them to get super long any time soon. As for the technology, it just serves plot convenience. I'm fully aware of what kind of technology they probably had in ancient Equestria, but it's one aspect that I'm not worried about following. For example, last chapter Celestia mentioned an "ice box." In all reality, they probably would've just thrown the food they kept in there away. But, I wanted Celestia to seem more motherly, so I used the ice box to create leftovers that she would talk about to make her motherly in a subtle way. To me, the technology isn't that important of an aspect of the story. Now, onto my own personal critique of this particular chapter. The last couple paragraphs seemed a bit rushed and felt more like the first 2 chapters. I didn't rush them at all, actually. None of this chapter was rushed, and it was more like me trying to make a whole year of absolutely nothing remarkable happening seem interesting. You gotta give me points for trying, at least! Now, some fun facts! Nope, I'm not even trying with the transitions in these authors notes anymore! First of all, as you should already know, this chapter was originally apart of the last chapter. I made it it's own because it had little to nothing to do with that chapter and together, they would've been over 3,000 words long. That's too long for this point in the story, maybe in 2 or 3 chapters they'll get that long. Then, the title, my god, the title. It took me forever to settle on a definitive chapter title. First, it was And I Love Her, but I wanted a title that had to do with dreaming. So, then, it was I'm Only Sleeping, but I thought that would be better fitting for the next chapter. Finally, I picked Golden Slumbers, I kind of like how they're all Beatles songs. At some point, all the chapters will just be random Beatles songs. So tune in for chapters 10: I'm Looking Through You, 14: Good Morning, Good Morning, & 28: Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite! In any case, if you haven't noticed, I love sexual innuendos! There were 1 or 2 in here that I'm kind of proud of! I'm probably just watching too much Ultra Fast Pony. As for references, there were 2 to the Beatles and 1 to the main MLP comics. Speaking of, I've been reading those and I've realized that their Starswirl is exactly like mine. I swear to god, that was an accident! Anyways, I hope you enjoyed and that you'll stick around... forever!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chap. 8: DiscordView OnlineMind GamesChap. 8: DiscordIt was about a week until the next Gala. Since I did everything I needed to do in preparation for it and Starswirl was out of town at BookCon, I was lounging around in my bedroom. I was lying on my bed, reading 50 Shades Of Black (a book Chrysi recommended to me). It seems to be about every middle-aged mare's, sexually induced dream. I thought it was horrible and dumb and the fact that there's a play based on it disturbed me. Not that surprising, seeing how I didn't care for the books this one was inspired by. I found myself wondering why Chrysi would want to read something like this in the first place, let alone enjoy it. But any thoughts on that were quickly attacked by other thoughts about Chrysalis and I, no doubt caused by some lines in this book. In the background, I was playing a Breezies album titled Magical Mystery Train on my magically charged record player. Luckily, my magic was good enough for me to play the album without it needing my full attention. The album was finishing up I Am The Zebra, meaning I'd have to flip it over any second now. They were pretty colt band-ish, but the twist is that their good! Maybe it was the surreal lyrics or maybe it was the grandiose music, but Magical Mystery Train was always my favorite album of theirs. My bed itself was very comfy and clean, I made sure to have a maid make it for me so that I could say I did it every day! The book was placed in between two small pillows as my body covered most of what's left of the bed. Above me was a picture of Chrysi (for obvious reasons). I made it a mental note to make sure I hid the picture whenever she was over. The only other pony to know that I owned it is Celestia, whom simply told me that it's placement was creepy. Behind me was the door that separated me from the outside world (or as everyone else calls it, the hallway). My bed is placed far away to give the door enough room to be as wide open as it wants at any given moment (my room is fairly large after all). At least the door would be that open if I didn't keep it closed and locked as often as possible. In front of me was a window that was blacked out to keep any peeping Toms or the paparazzi from looking through, though I never had any problems from either in the past. To my right is my nearly full bookshelf. Unlike Starswirl's, where his is mostly covered in spell books, mine is a lot less grounded in reality. Covered with books based in fantasy, science fiction, comedy, romance, you name it! My favorite was The Princess of the Rings, a fantasy story about a griffon and her zebra friend who must take an evil ring to a volcano to destroy it while everything and their grandmas are out to stop them! It was a great trilogy of books that inspired an incredible trilogy of plays. I actually have a poster for one of the plays hung up right next to my bookshelf. I'm not sure which book I owned I'd say is my least favorite, but the one I'm reading is quickly rising to the top of that list. I was in the middle of the third chapter when I heard Celestia calling for me. She must have just woken up, seeing how she normally doesn't get out of bed until about an hour later. But, I still jumped out of bed and trotted my way into the living room, where Celestia was calling for me. Half of me was happy that I was able to stop reading this stupid book, but the other half wasn't because Everfree Forest Forever was starting to play. As I made my way into the kitchen, I could see two familiar faces. One was of my sister, Celestia (naturally, seeing how she's the one calling for me), but the other was of a draconequus who goes by the name of Discord. Since I've gotten used to seeing his lion paw around the castle, his presence didn't phase me in the slightest. As if I was trying to completely ignore the space he was taking up, I asked Celestia directly, "What's up, sis?" Celestia looked at me with determination and relaxation, I could tell that whatever she was planning, she knew it would become a reality with ease. Discord looked about as confused as I was, but I could tell he was going to stick by her side no matter what. Even if he didn't know what for. About a second or two went by before Celestia replied to my question, stating, "I apologize for not doing this sooner, this should've happened months ago. But because the three of us were so busy over the last year, I couldn't get this to happen sooner. Again, I am very sorry." I took that statement for a moment and tried to analyze it. I had finally realized, after that moment, that I had no idea what she was talking about. So, I said to her, "I accept your apology, I guess, but I'm still not sure what it was for." "Don't you remember? Less than a week before Discord and I went on our first date, we agreed that you'd meet him within a couple weeks. It's been nearly a year and yet you two still haven't been introduced to each other properly!" "I've met him, sort of. I've seen him around the castle and we've said our fair amount of 'hello's." I knew that no matter what I said, resistance was futile. I don't even know why I was resisting in the first place. I guess since she's been dating him for about a year, it's a bit awkward to just now officially meeting him. Discord was just in the corner, twiddling his thumbs. It was obvious that he had his own opinions to throw in on the matter, but he knew that it wasn't his place. That, combined with the shy nature he had at the time, accumulated in him doing nothing while Celestia and I discussed about this meet-up. Celestia replied back in just a second after my last comment, saying, "Yeah, but you two never actually met each other, like, actually talk. I think it's about time we change that!" I made sure to respond back quickly, saying, "Okay, fair enough. But you couldn't have given me a bit of a heads up so that we could discuss about this beforehoof?" Celestia took a loud breath in as soon as I was finished, like she was going to say something really important, but that breath quickly left her lips in defeat. "Your right, it was selfish and impatient of me to do this to both of you without a hint of a warning-" I thought she was done talking, so I accidentally interrupted, "See, now why don't we-" "But, seeing how you're both here right now, why don't you two talk while there's some free time in both of your schedules!" Celestia said, completely ignoring what I was about to say, as if she didn't hear a peep come out of my mouth. She quickly continued, "And while you two talk, I'm gonna go back to my bedroom and listen to some of The Whooves!" She then trotted away most of the way up the stairs, stopping so that she could listen in on Discord's and my conversation. It was so obvious that she was there, that it prompted me to yell at her, "You know, we can still see you," as Discord just stared at his fillyfriend. She quickly replied, "No you don't!" "Yeah, we do," this time, pointing it out didn't get a single response to come out of her. I'm sure she didn't care much that we could see her, clear as day. There was really nothing I could do other than talk to the draconequus. So, I said, "Hey." That seemed to have gotten his eyes off my sister as he turned to look at my face. I was forcing a slight smile. Discord went for a bit more of a slightly confused face as he then said, "Hey." We then said nothing further and stayed silent until Celestia called out from atop the stairs, "Come on! I've had better conversations with my stuffed animals!" My mind then conjured up an image of her talking to her teddy bears like they were living, breathing ponies. I think they were of bears from this play she enjoyed, Friend Bears, I think it was. But my thoughts were interupted by Discord, who seemed like he really wanted to meet me. He said, "So... read any good books lately?" I said, "No, just this crappy one Chrysi recommended to me." "Chrysi?" "That's what I call Princess Chrysalis." "Oh, I think I've seen her around the castle before. You two good friends?" "Yeah, totally!" "Good! You know, Celest has told me about your little crush on her." I then looked up the stairs, as to threaten my sister with a hoof sandwich if she ever told anypony else. But, I was surprised to see that she was gone, probably left when she saw Discord and I were getting along just fine. From the direction I was gazing at, I could faintly hear her singing, "Ponies try to put us down! Talkin' 'bout my generation," over a scratchy sounding record. I turned my stare at the creature standing before me, remembering exactly what he said. His statement raised a question out of me this time, as I asked him, "Celest?" He quickly answered back, as if he was expecting me to ask him that, saying, "That's what I call Princess Celestia." We went on like that for at least an hour, as we discussed just about anything that came to mind. As it turns out, he's a big Breezies fan as well! His favorite song of their's is Revolution 6, as mine was For Nopony. He told me he loves the chaotic nature of the entire song. How it could be about something amazing, or could simply be completely random. Chaos, that word seemed to come up a lot in our conversations. Apparently, Discord was a big fan of chaos. He said that he loved the idea of chaos simply because it seemed fun. I'll admit, the way he described it made me wonder why our kingdom even bothered with logic. Discord said that when his powers became good enough, he's going to get his own place to create absolute chaos in. Being a draconequus, he naturally had his magic in his claws. Like how I have to use my horn to perform magic, he performs by snapping. But, we both had to learn spells and practice a lot if we were to to perform those feats in the first place. I, personally, thought this was a really fun idea that I'd love to see become true! As long as he didn't take up too much space, I saw no reason to stop him from doing that. At the time, he wouldn't hurt a fly, so I wasn't worried in the slightest about him doing so. And seeing how Celestia talks about Discord all the time, I'm sure she wasn't worried either. Our conversation on musical tastes started up another conversation altogether. I told him, "I love a song with great piano music, that instrument always intrigued me." That one sentence gave him an idea that he had no problem with sharing. He said, "How would you like to learn it? I have a friend whose great at writing and playing music. Especially the grand piano! Seeing how you're a princess, I'm sure I could convince him in teaching you, as long as you've got a piano to play on yourself." "I never considered learning how to play... sure!" "Great! When do you think you can get a piano by?" "A week, at most. I am the princess of the night after all." "Alright, I'll inform him as soon as I can. I think I can get him in about a month... Hey, Do you think you should run this by your sister first?" "Nah, I'm sure she won't mind." With that, a quick yawn came out of me. It was daytime, Celestia must have lowered the moon and raised the sun without my knowledge. Normally I'd lower the moon to create room in the sky for the sun and vice versa. I should be headed for bed right about now. I explained this to Discord. How I should be getting to sleep since I have to be awake during the night. He was understanding and we both started our way up the stairs. When we reached the top, he told me goodnight as we both separated into different directions. I said the same. After that, Discord and I became really good friends. Whenever I wasn't with Chrysi, Starswirl, or Celestia, I was probably with Discord. Though I wish my sister would've warned me about our little chit-chat beforehoof, I'd say I'm still glad that she made it happen. I had become friends with my sister's coltfriend. She's had a few in the past, but they rarely lasted longer than a first date, so I never met one before now. I'm happy for her. Author's Note Man, this was hard to make! Going in, I knew what it would be about, but I had no idea what the specifics would be. But I liked how it came out, it seems like these chapters get longer and longer with each new addition. This one is even over 2,000 words long! I predicted that in the last Author's Notes! And also, there were no new critiques to discuss, so just fun facts this time! First of all, happy holidays. I wanted this chapter to get out before Christmas, but I didn't get to work on it much over the holidays. And my birthday being about the same time didn't help me work on this. Most of the chapter was done before Christmas Eve, since I knew I wouldn't be able to get much done during Christmas or my birthday. But it's still out & I still love it! Anyways, onto fun fact! The title is not a reference to TheLivingTombstone or Eurobeat Brony! It's a reference to another song in the brony fandom! Which one, you'll have to find out on your own... Yeah, yeah, I know. References should be harder to find, whatever! I wanted to recreate a scene where I'd be reading a book in my own room when I was about Luna's age. In turn, giving Discord and her something to relate to with each other. With that said, I have never read 50 Shade Of Grey or a Lord Of The Rings book. Nor have I seen any of the movies... but I still bluntly reference them. At least there's another, less obvious reference in how Luna and Celestia spoke in one scene. I'm just proud that I was able to reference Care Bears in another! As for Luna learning how to play the piano, that was an after thought. I was listening to a Wings album when the scenario came to my head & I thought, "Yeah, that'd be cool." As someone who doesn't actually know how to play the piano, I have no idea how I'll pull this off... well, I'll find out when I get there! Maybe I'll make it like how I got Luna to learn the Dream Weaver spell... And that's it! I've got nothing left to say on the chapter. So, I wish you all a merry Christmas (or whatever the hell you celebrate during this time of the year) and a happy new year! And also, I want some figgy pudding, so bring it right here!
Chap. 9: Here TodayView OnlineMind GamesChap. 9: Here TodayEver since my talk with Discord, I've done nothing except for piano shopping with him. He insisted on coming with because he apparently dabbled in music for a small amount of time and knows where to find a nice piano for me. Being a princess, I naturally have a fair amount of bits, definitely enough to buy a piano good enough for somepony just starting out. It helps that a lot of stores tend to insist on giving me a discount. I don't know why, it's not like their taxes will become smaller because of it. I'm just happy that it's an option for me, since I tend to be pretty cheap (especially for a princess). In any case, today is finally the day of The Grand Galloping Gala and Discord said that he'll bring his friend for me to meet. I know nothing of him, I don't even know if he is a he. All I know is that he's apparently a really good pianist and teacher. He better be, if he's not, then I'm wasting a lot of time and money getting a piano. I was preparing to go to the Gala, in my room, when my sister knocked on my door. I yelled, to be sure she could hear me from the other side of the door, "Come in!" "Your door is locked," she yelled back, but still sounding muffled. I trotted over, now having my dress on, and unlocked the door. She came in and immediately took a few steps back at the sight of me. She simply said, "You look amazing, you got the dress from Portrait Finish?" "Of course," I said in response. The dress was nearly completely black with white curves and lines making up the borders surrounding the darkness. My cutie mark, of a crescent moon, was on the front and back. Inside of the vast blankness that made up eighty percent of the coloring were hundreds, if not thousands, of sparkling stars. It looked like Portrait Finish trapped my night sky into a dress, if only for one day. I took a look at myself in the nearest mirror and realized that I didn't look bad. But something, I'm not sure what, was mis- Before I could finish my train of thought, Celestia came up right behind me and said exactly what I was about to think. "It looks beautiful, downright gorgious on you. But there is something missing." She then left the room, but only for a minute or two, to come back with a white carnation. She places the flower between my right ear and my head and says, "Discord gave this to me on our first date." She took a couple steps back, to take a good look at me, before continuing, "The most lovely mare in all of Equestria. No doubt, Mom and Dad are smiling down at you from the heavens, beaming with pride." With that, she hugs me tighter than she did the day I earned my cutie mark and kisses me on the forehead stating, "I'll see you in the ball room, for the Gala." I just stood there, thinking of what she said as she trotted out the room. Was I really that beautiful? Could this be my lucky day with Chrysalis? Those, along with so many more questions spun around in my head for several minutes. Thinking about it all, I placed my head onto the mirror in front of me and stated in a soft voice that no one but me would ever be able hear, "If only I was 'the most lovely mare in all of Equestria.'" I must have been up there for a while, because at some point Starswirl came up to check on me. He knocked on the door three times, when I gave him no answer, Starswirl proceeding to come in. He closes the door as quietly as he could and then the unicorn sat down next to me. I was just sitting there, staring at myself through the mirror like I have been for at least twenty minutes. Starswirl broke the silence soon after, stating, "What is it that's bothering you? Do- do you want to talk about it?" I answered back as soon as I knew what to say, "Is- is what Celestia said... to me, true?" "What did she say?" "She said I was beautiful, gorgeous, lovely, she kept complementing me like never before. Do I- do I really... look that good?" "Of course you do, you've always looked dazzling. Look... I know that can't be the thing bothering you, really, why would it? What's the problem? Does it have to do with Princess Chrysalis?" "Do you... think I have a chance with Chrysi? That she would ever want me as more than just her friend? That she would... ever consider taking our friendship to the next level?" "You do have a chance, absolutely. But- whether or not she will want you forever as her very special somepony, only time can tell... You just, have to take this relationship of your's slowly. If she needs you as her fillyfriend in the future, she'll call out to you, I'm sure. Then you can make your move. But for now, she needs you as a friend. And, quite frankly, you need her as a friend right now more than vice versa." "What if it doesn't... exactly work out? What if that day where she needs me as her filly... never comes?" "Then it wasn't meant to be in the first place. You live, move on, and find a new pony to fall in love with." "But-" "Let me tell you a story... about a stallion named Winchester." I stopped talking, I was done doing whatever I was doing. I was now, just listening to what Uncle Starswirl had to say. He paused for a moment to make sure I was listening, and he then continued, "You see, Winchester, when he was a little older than you are, fell madly in love with a pegasus named Zoom Flash. She could fly faster than any other pony in Equestria and quickly caught the interest of Winchester. "He did all he could think of to get her attention. Buy her flowers, become an amazing magician, he even tried flying as fast as she could. But nothing seemed to work. He tried at every angle, except for being her friend." "But, wait," I interrupted, "How could he be a magician and be able to fly? You need to be a unicorn to create magic that will do your bidding and you need to be a pegasus to fly?" His only response was a smirk and a chuckle as he continued. "At some point, Zoom Flash did find the right stallion. They married, bought a house, and had a few foals. This left Winchester heart broken, he was downright depressed for a long time. That was until he met Matrot. "Matrot was a unicorn who loved learning magic. Because Winchester practiced magic a lot while trying to woo Zoom Flash, the two became very good friends. They'd hang out and trade magical spells. Overtime, he found that he started forming feelings for Matrot and vice versa. Of course, he didn't know this at the time, as she was already in a relationship. So, he continued being her friend until his day would come. "Then, one day, Matrot's coltfriend got angry. Real angry and he started drinking. At first, it was just one bottle... then two... then three, until he was completely drunk. She got into an argument with him soon after, and in a fit of drunken rage, he hit her. His whole hoof went right across her face. "In self-defense, she pinned him to the wall and galloped out, tears gushing out of her eyes. She ran to the first safe place she could think of, to Winchester's house. She explained the situation to Winchester and he understood. He understood that he had to be there for her, as a friend. "The next day, Matrot sent a telegram to her coltfriend telling him to never see her again. She stayed with Winchester until she could get her own place to live. But, by then, she didn't want to leave. She chose to stay with Winchester... forever, for she was in love with him. Cut to years later, they get married and they have two adorable fillies... Celestia and Luna." I had nothing to say, what could I say other than, "Was that what really happened to my father?" Starswirl simply nodded, looking down, avoiding my eye contact. He then added, "Do you see? You have to be patient. Get Chrysalis to like you too before you start dating her." I simply nodded, nearly about to cry my eyes out. It's been years since I last thought of my parents. Even though, I didn't know them that well, especially my father, all the memories I had of the two were very happy. I knew they were good ponies. And seeing Celestia be depressed over our loss only helped drive that point forward like a stake in the heart. When they died, I didn't cry. I didn't mourn their death, I was too busy taking care of Celestia to do that. Now was my chance to, and yet, I just continued sitting there. Didn't think about all of the moments I had of them, didn't cry, didn't say or do a thing. I just sat there, like a rock. At some point, Starswirl got up and started trotting to the door. He asked me, "You ready to come out yet?" I replied, "In a minute, I'll be right down." With that, he made his way back to the Gala, closing the door silently as I now had even more to think about. Author's Note Man, this chapter title must be confusing to anyone who hasn't listened to "Here Today" by either Paul McCartney or The Beatle Bronies. So that's your homework for today because those songs are fucking awesome! Anyways, still no new critiques (maybe the critics think that the story has finally become perfect), so let's talk about this actual chapter. First of all, I am a bit disappointed by the amount of words. I was hoping it'd be higher. But there is no way in hell I am going to add onto this chapter, it deserves to stand on it's own as is. Then there's the fact that this was the first chapter to not be planned out! Every single chapter so far was planned since the beginning. I have a short description in my head of what each chapter is supposed to be about. This one was, for the most part, improvised on the spot. But, after finishing the writing, I realized that it made for a good chapter & I chose to keep working on it until I got what you just read. And if anyone's wondering, maybe. The story Starswirl tells Luna might be canon to the overall story. It's really more up for interpretation. The whole point of having him not look Luna in the eyes as he nods his head is to make it seem like there's the possibility that he's lying to her. Just trying to calm her down a little. But with that said, Celestia and Luna's mother was a unicorn, it's my canon, shut up! With that said, keep that story in your mind as the chapters go on. It may not seem like it yet, but it will be important. It's kind of funny. At one point I was kind of proud of the first 2 chapters. Now I'm doing my best to make up for how horrible they are! I never had Luna mourn their death, so it was interesting to do so without her completely sobbing or getting depressed like Celestia did. And yet, this chapter was done in the spirit of those 2, especially in Starswirl's story. Not extremely descriptive, but enough to get the basic plot and moral across. I like how I did it. By the way, the names killed me. I spent so much time just coming up with the names of the 3 new characters. At first, Zoom Flash was Fast Zoom, then Zoom Dash, then the name I stuck with. That alone took me several minutes! I never spend so much time on something that trivial in the story & yet still have it come out horrible! I'm a bit disappointed in myself in that category. So if anyone has a good name for Luna's piano teacher, I'd be more than happy to take it! It's also kind of funny that I spend a lot more time working on my YouTube channel and have been doing that for a lot longer, & yet this fanfic is starting to become more popular. It boggles my mind! And when Starswirl & Luna first start talking, that's me trying to replicate normal speech. In all fairness, I don't like it much either, but I thought it helped with the mood. Oh yeah, & the description of Luna's dress came from Cartoontiger on Deviantart. I found it & thought it looked absolutely perfect, so I used it. Go look him up, he's actually really good! Okay, I believe that's all. I really enjoyed writing this chapter & I hope you enjoyed reading it! Thank you so much for doing so!
Chap. 10: Piano ManView OnlineMind GamesChap. 10: Piano ManI stayed up in my room for a few more minutes after my talk with Starswirl, if only because I realized that I forgot to do my makeup and was hurrying to do that. When I did finally come down, everyone's head turned towards me as they all started stomping in applause. Not surprising, seeing how I am the princess. What was a bit of a shocker was the first to meet me when I came down. It wasn't Starswirl, or Celestia, or even Chrysalis, it was Discord. "Oh, there you are! There's a certain pony whose been dying to talk to you all night! And I think you'd be interested in talking with him as well," he said with a smile. I combed the room to see what the other three were doing as Discord brought me to this "certain pony." I saw Celestia being assaulted with "thank you"s and "congratulations"s, I felt pretty bad for her. A few feet away, saw Starswirl chatting it up with Chrysi. I got so scared that he might be talking to her about me that I nearly ran up to them and yelled, "It's not true!" But I trusted Starswirl enough with this little secret of mine to not do that... plus, it would only make me look more guilty. Chrysalis was nearly hiding behind her mother, as she normally did when she wasn't around me. Next to Starswirl was a colt, looked to be around my age. He was a black unicorn with the tiniest bit of red on his horn. I could see myself thinking he was kind of cute if I didn't already have my sights on a "certain pony." It didn't help that I wasn't into colts anyways. Finally, Discord got me to point B and there was a strange unicorn with a powdered wig on his head. "Why do I have this thing on my head," he asked Discord with a hint of annoyance. "Because it makes you look more presentable," Discord replied. He then turned to me and said, "This is Keynan, your new piano teacher!" "Pleasure to-," Keynan cut himself off to shake the obvious wig off his head. He clears his throat as he continues, "Pleasure to meet you, Princess Luna. I assure you that by the time I'm done with you, you'd be able to play Coltsart like it's nothing!" With the wig off him now, I could get a good look at him. He had a straight, slightly dark brown mane with streaks of light brown to boot. His coat was completely light blue with quarter and eighth notes jumping on a piano as a cutie mark. He spoke as formal as a surfer dude could speak. It was clear that he was from Coltifornia, but he still had the voice of a business guy as well. Like the Colt from The Big Lipony in a business suit. He also gave off a coltband-esc kind of vibe. Just by looking at him, I got more of an impression of P-Sync rather than Coltsart. So, naturally, I instantly became friends with him! "Believe me, the pleasure's all mine," I said with a grin. I continued, "Discord's told me so much about you!" That was a lie, Discord has told me jacksquat about him. I was just hoping to start some kind of conversation with him, luckily, Discord never chewed me out about that white lie. I think he was too distracted staring at my sister in her new dress. I also think she noticed, as she then started shaking her plot at him. I immediately regret taking my eyes off of Keynan, even for a split second. I guess my plan worked since his very next sentence was, "Oh, in that case, I'm sure you heard that I'm a huge fan of Billy Goat. Especially that one song, We Didn't Start The Friendship." That was something I wasn't expecting, I thought he'd be into REO Speedchariot or Colts II Stallions, not... Billy Goat. Eh, I'm just happy he has a good taste in music. "Ah, I love Billy Goat! Though, I'm a much bigger fan of The Breezies," I replied. "The Breezies? Personally, they're not my cup of tea, but I still have to admit that about half of their songs are genius." I take back what I said earlier, he has a horrible taste in music. "Actually, one of the members went on to compose a song that I've really wanted to play." As I told him what song it was, I saw his expression turn from calm to shocked. "I-I'm honored, b-but we just met and I don't know-" "I don't want to play it for you," I said, cutting him off. His face went from shocked to embarrassed and his face went from a cool blue to completely red, like it was sunburned. "Then who is it for, someone doesn't want to play a song like that for no reason?" I tilted my head in the direction of my crush. "Starswirl?" I facehoofed as I said, "No, Princess Chrysalis!" I was starting to not only get annoyed, but also question his IQ. "Oh, OH, OOOHHH!" I could only imagine what was going through his head as he was realizing that the princess of the night was a lesbian. His face, on the other hoof, changed between different levels of surprised understanding. By the last "oh," his eyes were so bulged out that I was sure they were prepared to jump out at me. "Yeah, so can you help me out?" "Well, a song like that isn't impossible, but it's also very difficult to get right. I think I can get you to master it in about a year, especially considering that I also need to teach you how to play the piano first." I was very excited by this answer, but there was still one question I needed answering first, "Good! So, how good are ya?" "What?" "I bought a grand piano when I was out shopping with Discord. That same piano is up on the stage with the musicians. I'm going to ask them to leave the stage for a few minutes. When I do that, I want you to go up there and show me what you got! I do want to make sure my piano teacher is brilliant at what's on his mark, after all! But, if you're not-" "Sure," this time, he cut me off. I went up to the stage as soon as they played the last note in the song they were currently playing and kindly asked them to leave the stage for a short amount of time. Though, they seemed pissed at first, they also seemed to understand. After Keynan took a seat next to the piano, I was slightly surprised at what the first thing I heard come off of the stage. It wasn't the piano or him introducing himself, it was him singing, and singing a familiar tune as well. As he sang, "A long, long time ago, I can still remember how that music used to make me smile," I (along with several others) realized what song he chose, Equestrian Pie by Don McClean. Everyone turned their heads in shock and awe, including Discord, as if he wasn't paying any attention to the talk Keynan and I had. I was also surprised at how good his piano skills were. Don't get me wrong, I assumed he'd be pretty good, but not this fantastic. Even his mistakes weren't noticeable, as they were quickly covered up with a masterpiece of music. By the second verse, the guitarist of the group I kicked off was galloping up to the stage. I thought she was going to stop him in protest, so I quickly started after the guitarist. But before I could get one hoof in front of the other, one of the other band mates put her hoof on my shoulder, stopping me in my tracks. When I looked back at the mare with a hoof on my shoulder, she had a face that softly spoke, "Don't worry." And I believed her. When the guitarist got up, she didn't scream and shout, she played along. It's obvious that the mare didn't memorize the song as well as Keynan, but they were both more than talented enough to make up for that fact. By the fourth verse, the entirety of the band was up there, playing and having fun (at least it looked like they were). By the third chorus, everyone, including myself and the band, were singing along. It was the most fun I've ever had at the Gala and it was the most I've ever seen these tightwads come out of their shells. As a side note, Chrysi is a stunningly fantastic singer. By the end of it all, my jaw was wide open at the astonishing performance I just bare witness to. The entire room of ponies stomped in delight and seemed genuinely saddened when Keynan had to leave the stage. I guess he felt bad about leaving this adoring crowd wanting more, because he sat right back down and starting playing Somepony To Love by Princess. I was just surprised that this normally stuck-up group was actually loving this. I felt Discord put his claw on my shoulder and ask, "Well?" The only word I could muster at the time was, "Perfect." Author's Note I'm back bitches! Now, I'm sure you've all been wondering where I've been. Simply put, I've been busy. I'm still in school & I've been working very hard on my YouTube channel. I just haven't had the time to write for Worlds Apart. But, I'll see if I can cut my YouTube work a bit, if only to work on this more. With that said, I know the title of the chapter doesn't work well with the anybody/anypony spoof. But to that, I say, who gives a shit!? It's the chapter title, at least I bother giving these chapters titles to begin with. Also, I kind of dis REO Speedwagon in this chapter. In case anybody cares, no I don't hate them, they're alright. But Boys II Men does suck hard. And if you think there's too many references in this, it's because I've been working on an MLP Analysis recently, & those always get me in a referencing mood. Okay, some fun facts about the chapter. Keynan was originally named Pitchyotto after Pigeotto in Pokemon. I quickly realized that was literally the dumbest sounding name ever & settled on naming him after Kenan from Kenan And Kel. I also listened to American Pie & We Didn't Start The Fire about a million time while writing this because referencing them made me want to listen to them. If you're not familiar with either of them, listen to them both immediately. They are brilliant! Also, since I'm sure he's reading this even though he's not a brony, happy birthday to my good friend Matthew Broderson from 52 Yangma on YouTube! He's an asshole, but a lovable asshole... barely. That should be about it, so, thank you all for reading & I hoped that you've enjoyed! Especially since you probably had to deal with the first 2 piece of shit chapters to get here!
Chap. 11: Beware Of DarknessView OnlineMind GamesChap. 11: Beware Of DarknessAfter Keynan started playing Somepony To Love, I went to meet up with Chrysalis. I trotted as fast as I could as to not be stopped by one of my subjects, but also as casually as I could as to not seem weird. When I finally got close enough to see Chrysi, I stopped completely and started trotting slower. I didn't get a good look at her, but I was able to see that she was wearing a dark blue dress with black twirls and loops sewn into it. Definitely a strange outfit, but Chrysi was able to pull it off. As I got closer, I could see Starswirl in his normal, light blue with bells, cape and hat. I could also make out the young colt talking to Chrysi, he was at least wearing a proper suit. The unicorn had a white jacket and a white bow tie. His coat was gray and his horn still had some red to it. I made a mental note to ask him about that later. But, before I could, I was right next to Chrysi. "Hey," I said, just to break the ice. "Oh, hey Luna," Chrysalis said with a grin and a hug. She continued, "This is Sombra, Starswirl's new apprentice!" I looked at Starswirl in a questioning manner, "When did you..." "I met him at BookCon! Since he is such a great magician already, I offered him an opportunity to train with me to become an even greater one," he said to me. "Okay, when did you and Chrysi meet?" This time, Chrysalis answered my question, stating, "Luna, with how many times I've been over, you should be shocked if I didn't meet him." "Alright, point taken," I said to Chrysi before switching my attention to the grey unicorn in front of me. "Nice to meet you... Sombra, is it? I am Princess Luna, the princess of the night," I said to him bringing my hoof out, expecting a hesitant hoofshake. Most ponies get nervous when meeting me for their first time. To my surprise, he shook my hoof without any hesitation, stating, "Nice to meet you princess! And yes, my name is Sombra!" As he did so, he was looking me square into the eyes and smiled. Throughout the entire conversation the four of us would have, he would never stop beaming. Sombra just gave off a sense of confidence, like the kind salesponies would have, except his felt real. That's a feeling I so rarely ever felt about myself. I was actually jealous of how much confidence he had. Throughout the rest of the Gala, the four of us stayed together, only ever leaving to get some punch. Though I talked to all of them a fair amount, I spoke to Sombra the most. I'd ask questions like, "Why did you agree to go with Starswirl?" And he'd answer with, "Because I was a big fan of his, so I jumped at the opportunity to work with him." Not once did he show a hint of un-assurance or quit showing his pearly whites. Until... Nearing the end of the Gala, I thought I've ran out of questions, then I realized that I completely forgot one. So I bluntly ask Sombra, "What's with your horn?" His smile began to dim as he answered back, with a squeak in his voice, "W-What?" I was starting to feel bad, it seemed as though his horn was a sensitive spot for him. So, I rebutted, "Your horn has a red mark on it when the rest of you is gray, is there any story to that? If it's a sensitive topic, you don't have to-" "No, no, it's fine. I-It's... just a... birthmark," he said, not only interrupting me, but with all the hesitance I wouldn't think Sombra would ever have. I felt like he was lying to me, but if it's something he'd rather not talk about, I wouldn't want to bring it up again. As the Gala was ending, our quartet spread out into different pathways. Chrysalis left with her mother, Symfore, and went back to the Chrystal Empire. Starswirl took Sombra back to his place, where I'd assume Sombra would be staying until he could get a nice place of his own to live in. And I went upstairs to my bedroom, passing Celestia on the way. She asked me, "Did you have a nice time?" I replied with, "Yeah!" I yawned before continuing, "I'm going to sleep," "Okay, just make sure to wake up early to lower the moon in the morning." I yell back, "Okay," as I enter my room. As soon as my head hits the pillow, I'm in dreamland. I couldn't believe I was this tired, I didn't feel this tired moments ago. I guess that's what talking to the three most interesting ponies in Equestria will do to you. Normally, when I dream, I dream of either my parents, Celestia, or Chrysalis, with the occasional sweets dream. This time, it was about Sombra. He was turned around as to not face me and was engulfed in blackness, except for his horn. That was covered in red. Since I've learned how to enter other's dreams, I've been able to control and remember mine a lot easier. So, I trot up to him and tap him on the shoulder. He turns around quickly and I could see his smile, but this was different. He looked evil. I could also see a set of fangs on him and he looked very mad. He jumped out at me in mere milliseconds. I jump back right before he would hit my face. I woke up just before I would fall on my flank in the dream-world to find that I did fall to the ground in the real-world. As soon as I woke up, I heard my sister banging on the door for me to get up so I could lower the moon. After I do so, I fix myself some coffee, head back into my room, put on a Breezies album, and try my best to forget that horrific nightmare. Author's Note Just to remind everyone, I'm still looking for a singer for a special song I'm working on for this story. Just so you know... Anyways, Sombra was always someone who was going to play a big role in the story. The big problems I had was how was I going to introduce him & what his personality was going to be. His personality came naturally as I was writing, but his introduction took me a while to come up with. Originally, he was going to show up near the end of Luna's piano training (for reasons I can't explain without spoilers), but I decided against it because I really needed something for this chapter. So, I came up with Chrysalis already meeting him while Luna was upstairs. I came up with this late in the making of the last chapter, so the fact that Luna stayed upstairs & that Starswirl was held up at a convention was complete luck. Trust me, I'm thankful! Then there's the band from the last chapter, there was going to be another character that I'd bring in this chapter named Apple Pie. She was basically going to be this story's Pinkie Pie & was going to be (& technically still is) the drummer of the band. I got rid of her because I saw no use in her other than me wanting to write Pinkie Pie. I'd be fun! Maybe, if I can find some use for her, I'll introduce her at the next Gala. I'd also like to mention that Worlds Apart was rejected from the LGBT group, this is a message to them... FUCK YOU! Unless you either still enjoy this story, change your mind, or realize that this is a joke & that it shouldn't be taken seriously even though I'm sure many will. I just find it strange because no other group has said no & the mane character is a lesbian (even I, the writer, am apart of the LGBT community). Eh, it's something interesting to talk about... I guess. By the way, I don't know why this chapter's so short, even for this story. I honestly thought this was going to be one of the longer ones. Probably because I'm better with comedy than drama, & this one's dramatic. All of the longer chapters are much more on the comedic side, guess that's what you might get if you let a comedian be dramatic. And since I'm sure I'll get a ton of complaints about this, no, I did not mention the stars or moons on Starswirl's cape & hat when describing him. I didn't mention them because they don't exist in this story. They should be mentioned at some point, but only when I can figure out when & how. And this is a paragraph to Matthew from 52 Yangma, I got rid of everything for this chapter I wrote in front of you because they pertained to Apple Pie & I already explained why she's not in this story! Well, technically, she is, but she doesn't play a big role. Also, since this week is spring break, I'll probably come out with another chapter by the end of it since I'll have a lot more time to write. Alright, this should be the last of the author's notes. So, thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed. If you did, make sure to like, comment, & follow. If you didn't, 1: why are you reading this, 2: tell me how to improve, & 3: do all that anyways. Make sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel, you know, the other thing that takes up way too damn much of my time ( youtube.com/reviewinme ). See you next chapter!
Chap. 12: I'm So TiredView OnlineMind GamesChap. 12: I'm So TiredYou know... future me, being trapped here on the moon has surprisingly been relaxing. I don't have anything to worry about and the view looks great! Of course I do miss my friends; Celestia, Starswirl, Crys-... Anyways, Celestia has been sending me food every week, probably hoping that I can survive up here and come back a brand new mare. That is, if I can go back. Sweet Celestia, I hope I can go back. But, let's not linger on that, she also send me my old diary with this week's delivery, the one she gave me when I was still a foal. I found an entry that seems to fit into this autobiography quite well. I thought it may be better to put that in rather than to force myself to remember the experience myself. Heh, maybe you can sell this when you get back to Equestria. If you get back. If we get back. Dear me, I'm going to go look for some alcohol... again. Dear Diary, The rest of my day has just been a game of "Stay Awake For 24 Hours." Since I slept all night last night, there was no way I'd be able to sleep today. I normally sleep during the day, after all, I am the princess of the night. But by the time my night came, I was too tired to use my magic to go into Chrysi's dream. So I had to stay awake all day and night so that I can catch some Zs during the day and when I wake up, I'll raise the moon & go into Chrysalis' dream! How is it that I've lived for eons & that's the most complicated plan I've come up with so far? After I stayed awake for an entire 24 hours and slept during the day, all I can say is thank Celestia for coffee (literally, she made me coffee at some point), I finally made it into Chrysi's dream world. Strangely enough, when I finally got some rest, I had a repeat of the same dream from 2 nights before. It was all the same, right down to it being Sombra who attacks me. The only difference was that there was a purple & green glow around his eyes. Like the kind you'd find on a unicorn's horn while they'd perform magic (the difference, of course, being that it's around his eyes). I'd guess my dreams were telling me that Sombra is a threat, but how could that be, he seemed so nice? Maybe it's because I was sleep deprived. Note to self: don't go off your normal sleeping schedule ever again! Right before I went into Chrysi's dream, I started having some self-doubt. Out of nowhere I started asking myself if this really is a good idea. I mean, dreams are gateways into a pony's psychi (at least that's what Starswirl keeps telling me), is it right to enter her dream without permission? Well, I haven't questioned my motivations before, so I went right in! I'm not sure what I was expecting going in, maybe a land made of cookies & milk that goes on as far as the eye can see? Ooh, maybe a dream about me!? Oh my me, can't you just imagine!? Either way, that's not what I got. :( I flared my horn & performed a long-distance Dream Weaver spell on Chrysalis to find myself in... the Chrystal Kindom. Not gonna lie, I was hoping for a bit more. To be fair, the place looked very detailed, like a portrait. The dream world looked exactly like the kingdom Chrysi calls home. I looked around to find myself right next to the crystal heart in front of the castle Chrysalis & Symfore lived in (I've gotta visit this in real life one day). I heard Chrysi & another voice coming down one alley, & saw somepony else's shadow coming down another. I pulled off an invisibility spell as quickly as possible & made sure to not make a peep. I couldn't make out exactly what Chrysi was saying, something about love & Sombra. Even though she was saying all of this quite loudly, like she was yelling at whoever was in the alley across from the one she was in, I was paying more attention to being silent. When Chrysalis came out & revealed herself to me, I could see she was alone. I could swear I heard 2 voices, I'm pretty sure I did. Chrysi's voice was a bit on the weird side, it was like hearing 2 voices come out the one mouth, it was strange to say the least. Her appearance was somewhat normal, though. She looked like herself, albeit a bit taller & older. I looked at the other alley to see Sombra coming out of it. He, like Chrysi, looked like himself, again being a bit taller & older. Unlike Chrysi, though, he didn't speak. He, instead, just gave this menacing smile, a lot like what I saw in my dreams. The instinctual side of me wanted to get between the 2 & protect my little Chrysalis. But then I remembered Starswirl mentioning something about this. I believe he said to not interact with the ones in the dream in case the dream may suddenly reject my presence & kick me out because it would then know I was in it. Dreams are weird! So my next instinct was to just leave, but a larger part of me just wanted to see where this was going, so I stuck around. Both Sombra & Chrysalis moved forward until they were face-to-face with me right between the 2. Even though I was just inches away at this point, they didn't notice me. But, with both of them surrounding me, I couldn't help but have a tiny squeak escape my lips, luckily, they either didn't notice or didn't care. Most likely the former. With both Chrysi & Sombra so close, I was slightly scared for my life. I didn't care that I technically can't die when in somepony's dream unless it was due to an outside force, these 2 were weirding me out! It didn't help that Sombra's smile seemed to have been permanently etched onto his face. I looked over to Chrysi to see her own face start to adorn the same smile Sombra was wearing (though she totally pulled it off better). Just then, I was kicked out of the dream, most likely because it was over. That tends to happen when the dream or nightmare is done. I started hearing Celestia's hooves walking on the ground towards my bedroom. I open my door to see her tilting her head to the stairs, obviously telling me to go with her to lower the moon. Strange, I was in that 1 dream for most of the night. Normally, a dream would last for about an hour at most(picked that up from the year or so I've been doing this). I do my duty & come straight here to record all of my findings from Chrysi's dream into you! Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to sleep, that was a heck of a long night. Love, Princess Luna Author's Note I know, this took forever to come out & I'm sorry about that. Like I said last chapter, I've been busy, mostly with school. But, summer is coming, so I should be able to update a lot more often than I am right now. A quick talk about the last chapter, it's my favorite! It was easily the most fun I've ever had writing this story & I'm proud at how terrible I could make it! Of course, it was an April Fools chapter & it has absolutely nothing to do with the overall story. But I still love it! This was an interesting chapter to write for multiple reasons. First of all, I had absolutely no idea how to start & end this chapter, just what it would mostly be focused around. No big deal, that's basically every chapter. But I seriously had no idea! This actually started out being a normal chapter, but obviously, it's not. While I was writing, I realized that this chapter in particular would work a lot better if it was written like a diary entry. I like the idea that the whole experience was a bit too much for Luna to write again. Plus, it let me write about how the moon has been. That was something I've always wanted to do in the story, but never really had a chance to do, so I like being able to do so here! Not to mention, it allowed me to write lazily like I do in the author's notes! Personally, I've never written in a diary or been a teenaged girl, but I imagine that it's something like this. I actually wrote in the diary to maybe make a midquel at some point. Now that I've decided not to, it became completely useless... until now. I'm still not sure when this story is going to end, I don't know why, but that's something I've been thinking about. Probably because I know exactly what I'll be doing on FIMfiction after the story's over & done with. I'm planning on ending it by 2016. I've also been thinking about rewriting the first 2 chapters. They bother the shit out of me just by how horrible they are. Maybe if I have time later on. And since the chapters are named after songs, it's very likely that I'll change the title to be named after an album. The obvious name is Dark Side Of The Moon, but I've also been toying with A Hard Days Night, Eclipse, & Mind Games. But that's all if I decide to change the name at all. Also, as a writer, I love foreshadowing! That is literally this entire chapter & I'm proud of how this came out. There was a lot of exposition about how the Dream Weaver spell works, it's not that I don't know all the rules with the spell, I'm just not good with exposition & I don't want an entire chapter dedicated to the rules of Dream Weaver. That should be everything, so thank you for reading & I hope you enjoyed!
Chap. 13: With A Little Help From My FriendsView OnlineMind GamesChap. 13: With A Little Help From My FriendsUuuuuuggggghhhhh!!!!!!!! After a very, very long search of my new home, I have found absolutely no booze anywhere! Even Celestia hasn't sent me any, now that's evil. Anyways, for some reason, I kind of stopped writing in my diary after that dream Chrysalis had. I don't know why, maybe I grew out of it, maybe I just didn't want to write in it anymore, maybe the things I went through from then on was just so terrible that I couldn't force myself to document any of it. Knowing me, I probably just got lazy. In any case, I guess the show... er, story, must go on! It's been just short of a week since I first entered Chrysi's dream, but I haven't gone back in. I was just too scared to see what else I might see, or might not see. There's still a chance I'll go back in, it really just depends on how curious I get. So, odds are, I'll probably go into another one of her dreams within a month. That's not really what I'm worried about though, I also haven't seen or heard from Chrysi since the Gala. Usually, we at least talk to each other once every other day. But it's been nearly a week since I last heard from her! I've tried sending her a few letters, but she won't answer me! Celestia thinks I'm making a mountain out of a mole hill, she's probably right this time. But I'm still worried. So, later today, I'm going to sent her a letter saying I'm coming over to her castle and I'll fulfill that prophecy tomorrow! I'd say today, but I'm a bit busy today. Keynan is coming over to start our first piano lesson. I know it's going to be tons of fun, especially with a stallion like Keynan being my teacher. He's been nothing but nice to me ever since I've met him, and I have no doubt in my mind that Keynan is going to be a pretty great friend from here on out! I've got my piano all tuned up (with a little help from Discord) and a copy of Playing The Piano For Beginners (again, with a little help from Discord). I've even taken it upon myself to look over the book a couple times, sure it all looked like a bunch of random symbols and squiggly lines to me, but I still looked through it. With Celestia's help (who knew she could play the violin), I found out what a few of those weird marks were. I also made sure to get Celestia out of the castle so that I won't get interrupted by her or Discord, as helpful as they both were. Just as I was putting the book in that spot where the music would normally go on a piano, note to self: ask Keynan what that thing is called, one of my guards trots in. "Introducing Keynan, the pianist," the guard said, as loud as he could possibly announce that fact so that I would be able hear him. As a way to kind of shoo him off, I yell back, "Thank you, Knight Armor!" Just as expected, he kneels and trots off just as Keynan enters, carrying a bunch of papers that were no doubt a few lessons he definitely wanted to go over today. "Does that happen all the time," Keynan asked. I chuckled a little and then answered him, "Not all the time, just a lot. You get used to it." "Huh, well, are you ready to start your training to become the greatest pianist of all time!" "Yeah!!!!!" I made sure to answer as loud as possible simply because I can. "Then let's get started!" And we did just that, he taught me about the art of the piano for about five hours. Granted, we took about one hour to take a much needed break. Since it was day time, I took this opportunity to make me some coffee. I offered to make him some, but he said he'd just like a nice beer [which I am still on the look out for!]. I also got to show him my extensive record collection; which covered bands and musicians like The Breezies, The Rolling Boulders, The Herd, and even Billy Goat (trust me, Keynan went crazy over that one). That time off seemed to fly right past us, as it only felt like ten minutes before we went right back to playing the piano. As our lessons were concluding, he said he had a nice gift to give to me. "Remember that song you really wanted me to teach you," he said, "Well, I took the time to rewrite it so you could play it on this," he places his hoof onto and rubs the piano. Just as he did, Keynan took his other hoof and pulled out a piece of paper from the stack he brought with him. As much as I wanted to freak out and thank him a million times, I tried my best to stay classy and not do such a foalish thing like that. The key word there was "tried" as it only took about two seconds before I snatched the piece out of his hoof and hugged both it and Keynan as tight as possible yelling, "Thank you, thank you, tank you, thank you, thank you!!!" I could hear him, if only barely, say, "Your welcome, now can you please let me go so I can breathe?" "Oh, sorry," I said as I let him out of my arms, still maintaining a grip on the song. "It's okay, I just thought you might like this. I have the feeling that you did," I only nodded as he continued, "We will be taking a look at this piece at some point, after I teach you all you need to know and learn some much easier songs. I am giving you this now so that you can look over it alongside your normal homework, in case you wanted to. I don't expect you to be able to play any of this song within the next week, but since you were so gung-ho about playing it for..." He paused before dropping his voice down to a whisper, "you-know-who-" "You know, nopony's here. You can just say Chrysalis," I interrupted. "Oh! Then, for Princess Crysalis," he continued once again, "I thought you might want to start looking at it now." "I do, and thank you so much once again, not just for the song, but also for taking the job of teaching me how to play the piano in the first place." "It's no problem," he started as he makes his way to the door, "after all, you are the-" Keynan got interrupted once again by the doors opening to let Celestia and the guard in. I heard Knight Armor start, "Introducing-" only to get interrupted as well. "Please don't," my sister said, with a frown on her face. Knight Armor simply bowed and made his way out as Celestia closed the doors. "Hey Luna," she started, now with a grin, "How was-" Celestia froze as she sees Keynan standing there. "Oh, you must be Keynan! Both Luna and Discord have told me so much about you!" She lets out a hoof and Keynan takes it into hoofshake as he says, "Yeah, that's me!" "Well, let's get this out of the way, how much am I going to have to pay you for these lessons," Celestia asked as they both let go of the other's hoof. "Nothing." "Haha, don't be so modest. We're the princesses of Equestria, no digit's too large. Just, name a number." "No, really, it's alright. Teaching Princess Luna how to play such a great instrument as the piano is payment enough." "Well, in that case, consider an I.O.U. as your payment. If you ever need anything, don't hesitate to ask," my sister said, still beaming. "Okay, if you insist." Keynan shook her hoof one last time before he made his way to the door, yelling, "It's been great meeting you Princess Celestia, and I'll see you next week, okay Luna?" "Yeah, see ya," I said as Keynan left the castle. As the doors closed, Celestia turns her attention towards me, "So, how did your lessons go?" I looked at her and said, "Great! But," I quickly yawned, "I could go on forever about it, but I'd rather go to sleep. I haven't slept all day." As I slowly made my way up the stairs, Celestia yells at me, "Goodnight!" I yell one right back at her. With Keynan out of here, I was surprisingly running out of energy quickly. Screw that letter I was going to send to Chrysi, I guess that could wait until tomorrow. Author's Note After the last chapter being so mellow dramatic, I'm glad that this one came out much more fun! I think this is probably going to be the chapter everyone's going to have the most problems with, but that's kind of the nature of these kind of chapters. Especially after chap. 12 being so depressing, this might actually kind of be whiplash. When I came up with the first draft, it wasn't very good. I'd even say it was downright awful! Which is weird, I don't normally write chapters I really hate anymore, even when it's just the first draft. But, then it went through a couple edits, and now I kind of like it. I don't know, there's something about it I really like. And no, this isn't me just praising my own work, this is legitimately one of my favorite chapters so far! If I did have a problem with it, I'd say it's too fun, but the last one was too sad so I think it works nicely. And I also love how this starts, I think it hits a nice middle between really funny & yet kind of depressing. It's great! And I'm sure a lot of you are wondering this, & the answer is yes, there will be more chapters that came from the diary. I'm just waiting for a chapter that'll work well with the format. Something I really love about writing this is that I know how this story's going to end, but I don't know every single detail. So, with each chapter, I'm kind of discovering what I can do with the characters to get them from point A to point B. This chapter in particular gave me a shit ton of ideas that I can't wait to use! That should be all, so I thank you so much for taking your time to read this & I hope you enjoy!
Chap. 14: P.S. I Love YouView OnlineMind GamesChap. 14: P.S. I Love YouAfter a long, nice nap, I found that Celestia had lowered the moon for me. I made a mental note to thank her for that later. But now, I had something important to write. I fell asleep before I could write my letter to Chrysi saying that I'd be coming over to her castle soon. So I got right to it! I used my magic to open up a drawer where I kept all of my writing tools. I levetated a quill, a container of ink, and some paper. I grabbed a few pages, just in case I messed up somewhere. I can get really nitpicky about my own writing, even in private letters sometimes. With everything I need in hoof's reach, I sat down on a chair in front of my desk and grabbed the quill with my mouth. I know I could've used my magic, but I surprisingly find it easier to do it with my mouth. Maybe I shouldn't say easier, more like... I'm just more used to writing like that. Even when I was little, Celestia, my mom, and my dad were always trying to have me be more familiar with using magic. It just never came as naturally to me as it did to them, but now I'm just getting sidetracked. I had everything set up to write my letter, so I grabbed ahold of the quill with my mouth and placed the other end onto the paper. I then wrote, "Dear Princess Chrysalis," but then I stopped in a sudden realization... I had no idea what to write down. Sure I could tell her straight up like, "I would like to come over because I was in your dream and would like to talk to you about it," but that seemed immensely stupid on my part. If I told her I was snooping around in her dreams, who knows what she might do. Knowing her, she'd be confused, concerned, and then will never talk to me again. So that approach was off the table. I could write down, "Hey, I want to come over and hang out for a bit. Feels like forever since I've last seen you," but I'd rather not lie to her. Okay, maybe not lie, more like hide things from her that she should probably know. Though I guess you could say that I've been hiding something from her ever since I met her, but I was planning on telling her sooner or later! In the end, I decided to do a combination of both. Not telling her everything, but also not lying to her. Something like... Can I break the fourth wall real quick here? I don't actually remember exactly what I wrote to Chrysalis at all. That might seem strange because I've been able to remember some parts of my life vividly so far, but I at least have an excuse. So far, everything I've told you, I've also written in my diary. Therefore, I remembered them better and if I really needed to, I'd have my diary as a refferance. Around this time in my life, I stopped writing in there for some reason, probably had to do with me growing up. So excuse me for not remembering something that happened eons ago, at least I think it's been eons. Hey, I said I had an excuse, not that it was good! The only thing from my letter to Chrysalis I do remember was that it ended like this: Your Friend, Princess Luna P.S. I lo After I was done writing my letter, I sent it out to Chrysi via a mailpony. I trotted inside to find Celestia in our kitchen, looking for food. I heard her mumbling to herself, "Why don't we have anything to eat?" I quickly replied, "We have plenty of food, you're just used to eating it all." My sister lifted her head out of the fridge to look at me in confusion, followed by realization. "I guess, but I'm still hungry!" "Alright, I'll cook something, I'm a bit parched myself anyways," I said with a smirk. "With how your acting, you'd think I was the older one." "You might as well be, give me less work." "What do you have to work on," I asked as I grabbed a few things to cook with. "Like ehn-neh-nah, what are you cooking?" "Subtle much?" "Your one to talk, Miss Chrysalis-picture-above-her-bed." "Fair enough, I'm cooking up some omletts for breakfast." "It's about five in the afternoon." "Yeah, well, it's morning for me." "Speaking of, have a nice nap?" "Yeah, and thanks for not waking me to lower the moon." "Not that I had much of a choice, I couldn't for the life of me wake you up. I tried having your alarm go off, putting food in front of your face, yelling 'Chrysalis is here!' Nothing would work. For a minute, I thought you were dead." As she finished, we both shared a short laugh. "Oh, in that case, I'm sorry." "Nah, don't worry about it. Just please don't do it again." The two of us went on for a couple minutes until the omletts were done and I'm reminded that I'm a great cook. We ate and talked until it was time to bring nighttime. I raised my moon and Celestia lowered her sun. She went off to hit the hay soon after and I'm left alone in the kitchen as I made some coffee. I usually am around this time anyways. Several hours have passed when I heard a knock at the door. I opened it to find the same mailpony I gave my letter to. The grey mare gave me a different letter that said to be from Chrysalis. I gave her my thanks as she kneeled and then trotted off as I closed the door. I opened the letter hoofed to me to find exactly what I didn't want to see: NONONONONONONONO!!!!!!!! Sorry, but the Chrystal Faire is this Saturday and I've got a ton of work to do that I cannot be distracted away from! If you and/or Celestia wanted to come, that'd be great! Plus I'd probably be able to hang out with you that way, but please don't come over until then! Hope to see you there! Your Friend, Princess Chrysalis After reading that, I had only one thing on my mind, "I'd hate to say something this stupid, but I think I know what I'm doing this Saturday!" Author's Note I am so sorry that it took me this long to have this chapter to come out! I assure you that it is not because I was too lazy (though that didn't help) or because these are hard to write (I'm not that sad). The problem was A.) my computer's cable broke because of my cats, so I couldn't upload this, B.) school started up again recently, & C.) I was working on my Televisor review of Rainbow Rocks. That took nearly an entire month to make, so I straight up didn't have time to write this chapter. So, again, very sorry about that. And with that said, I included a link to that video, it would mean a lot to me if you'd all check that out seeing how that's something I always wanted to work on. Speaking of, I started up a new series named Televisor recently! It's pretty much my Nostalgia Critic-esc reviews of TV shows & movies. I'm shooting for one a month (which is also my goal for Worlds Apart)! I'm hoping that the series won't affect my fic much, it really shouldn't distract me so much that I can't do a chapter a month. Also, since this chapter is late, I'll try to do another one by the end of the month. Emphasis on "try." I decided to change the style of the text when Luna is breaking the 4th wall, from now until doomsday it'll be in blue. I'm also going back into past chapters to change that just to not confuse anyone. This is kind of a nothing chapter, but I also like how I got to write a bit on Luna's psychi. Plus I could write some dialogue between Luna & Celestia along with build up the next chapter, so there's that. And with that, this is sadly one of the shorter installments, I hope you guys don't mind. I try my best to make these as great as possible. If anyone is wondering, that grey mailmare is not Derpy. It's simply her ancestor, the problem is that I couldn't think of a good name for her... how about, Ditzy? Yeah, I like that! Her name is now Ditzy "Fuck You" Do! (As a side note, do you think Ditzy Do & Daring Do are related? And if so, do they have a musical cousin named Didgeri Do?) That's about everything I can think of, so thank you for reading this chapter of Worlds Apart! I hope you've enjoyed & that you'll come back for Chapter 15!
Chap. 15: ImagineView OnlineMind GamesChap. 15: ImagineI stayed up for the rest of the night having to lower my moon for my sister to raise her sun the next morning. I went to sleep and woke up having to raise my moon right after my sister lowers her sun to bring around the night. Wash, rinse, repeat for the next couple days until the day before the Crystal Fare, then I slept during the night so that I'd be up all day... I know, very riveting. But those few days that felt like several eons payed out, for the next day, I was awake, hyper, and excited to see my best friend once again (I was so excited that I nearly forgot to lower the moon)! And by that afternoon, I was at the Crystal Fare with Celestia, Discord, and Uncle Starswirl (whom all wanted to tag along). But more importantly, I met up with Princess Chrysi, who was more than glad to see me there. She greeted me with a "Hey!" and a hug as I noticed that she was just in the middle of a conversation with a certain somepony standing right beside her, Sombra. Who was, like everyone else, naked as we all treated this as just a regular fare, nothing to get all dressed up for. That is except for two... "Hey Chrysi, hey Sombra! Um, what's with the fancy dress, I thought this was just a fun fare," I asked her. "Oh, it is! But I am the princess of this place, so I kind of have to slap on at least a decent dress. Same goes for my mother." I opened my mouth, about to pay her a compliment on her dress (it being the same one she wore to the Gala just a few years back), when I was interrupted by Sombra's voice. "Well, if it's any constellation, I think it's a lovely dress and it suites you amazingly." "Aaahhh, thank you Sombra! Hey, how about I go get us all some corncarrots?" Both he and I just nodded our heads. Normally, I'd either offer to go get them instead or at least go with her, but I was so shocked at Sombra's ability to take the words right out of my mouth. Chrysi nods back and heads on out to go get those treats for us. I watch her as she goes to one of the food stands when I hear Sombra clearing his throat. "So," he begins, "you enjoying the fare so far?" I turn to him as I answered, "Oh, I haven't really gotten to enjoy the fare yet. As soon as I arrived, I came straight here to talk to you two!" Wearing a friendly smile, I think we both knew that I was partially lying. I didn't come to see Chrysalis and him, I came to see Chrysalis. "Oh! Well I must recommend the Crystal Heart! It's so..." he then tenses up, "interesting..." His smile quickly turns itself upside down. "Really? This is my first Crystal Fare, what about it is so interesting?" "Well, historically, it's been used for defeating many enemies of the Crystal Empire, including a terrible dictator of this land (and this fare is dedicated to his defeat)." "Really? A crystal? I mean, they can be pretty hard and very sharp, but I can't imagine one being that effective as a blunt instrument." "See, that's the interesting part; the Crystal Heart has never been used as a regular weapon. It's said that looking straight into it can cause one into seeing their own future. So most of their enemies, after gazing into it, have gone on to either run away or commit suicide!" "That's crazy talk! Why would anypony put something that dangerous in a fare for the general public?" "Well, Queen Symfore has said that if one would look into it and see something ugly, they would skip the whole fighting part and move straight to running away!" "Huh, I might have to look into that... wait, did you and Chrysi look into this 'magical crystal' yet?" "I-" once again, he stiffened up as soon as I asked, "uhm, I did. But Chrysalis didn't, she said something about 'not believing in such nonsense.'" He said that last part in an over-the-top Chrysi impression. "Hmm, in that case, what did you see," I asked, tilting my head in a curious fashion. "Well... I, uh..." he stared up to his left at seemingly nothing but a patch of clear skies with a couple of clouds that were few and far between. "Saw, uh... a swimming pool full of bits. Yeah, a large swimming pool filled to the brim with bits and hot mares!" "Ha! That, I know is not going to happen," followed soon afterwards, along with a short laugh, from a hot mare, Chrysi to be exact. "You surrounded by 'bits and hot mares,' that'll be the day," she stated in a joking way, this time imitating Sombra. "I said that there's a swimming pool full of them, not that they're surrounding me! I probably just snuck into Hugh Hoofner's backyard," Sombra said with a grin. "Eh, it's not completely out of the question. Let's ask a hot mare, herself! So Lulu, would you date Hunt For Red-Horn October here?" I found the conversation quickly turning towards me as a few questions popped up from the back of my mind. "Lulu," was my first one. "Hey, I can have a nickname for you too," was the only response I got. "You think I'm a 'hot mare,'" was my second, this time coming with a Chrysi impersonation of my own. "Sure, you have that goth look that I know so many colts are into nowadays. Plus, I've had more than a couple stallions ask me about you," I found that answer especially ridiculous. What stallion would turn against this beauty right in front of me for somepony like me. "Okay, well where's our corncarrots?" "Oh, they were taking too long, so I trotted away." Knowing her, that's something I can believe. Just as I thought that, I heard someone yell the princess' name followed by a, "Ooh, speak of the carrots," from the pony standing right in front of me. She left and came back only seconds later, corncarrots in tow. As she magically hoofs me mine, she pipes up once again, "I'll take that as a yes, then!" "What," was the only response I could think of. "Well, you never answered my question. Would you date Sombra here?" "Well, uh... no." "Ah, you hesitated! That means yes! How about you Sombrero?" His response was the exact same answer I gave just milliseconds ago. "AH! That also means yes! Lulu and Sombra, sitting in a tree! K-I-S-S-I-N-G," even though I knew this was just a practical joke on her part (along with her smirk), I also knew that I would never hear the end of this. "So," I said, interrupting her teasing, "how about we go check out that Crystal Heart?" "Well," Sombra said, clearly knowing what'll ensue if we stay and listen to our tormentor, "we've already seen it. But I wouldn't mind seeing it again." "AH!!! My shipping dreams are coming true! Lubra is best OTP!" Both Sombra and I gave her our best walled eyed stares that showed we didn't find this very amusing, even if I kind of did. "Are you coming with," I asked her, in a deadpan voice. "Well, I do need inspiration for my fanfiction. So I guess I might as well!" So the three of us made our way to the heart, with Sombra in the middle after Chrysi insisted on it. Part of me thinks it's just so she could say he and I are dating at random moments, but another part of me thinks it might be for another reason (it's probably just that dream she had driving me crazy). It didn't help that Chrysalis wore a never ending smirk on her face the entire time. We were talking about whatever came to our minds when we came up by Celestia and Discord. "Hey Cele! Hey Discord," I said as we passed them by, "Um, where did Starswirl run off to?" I then jerked my head every which way, wondering where he might possibly be. "Knowing him," my sister started, "probably just over by one of the food stands. Why?" "Just wondering." "Hey there Princess," Chrysi butted in, "did you know that-" She was then cut off by the sound of Sombra and I simultaneously facehoofing our own faces. She stared us down for a hot second before she continued, "That Sombra and-" This time, she was cut off by me pulling her back with my front legs. "See ya later sis," I stated as we continued our track, with me still having to pull her and Sombra following right behind us, waving away. As soon as we were far enough away from those two, I helped Chrysi back onto her hooves. I just had to know one thing, "What in Tartarus was that!?" All she said was, "I thought it'd be funny," with that smirk that I'm possitive will never leave. My response back was a simple eye roll followed by a friendly smile. I could see Sombra do the same, minus the grin. So we continued on our way, this time with Chrysalis in the middle after both Sombra and I refused to be. We talked on and on about whatever we wanted to talk about until we came up to the Crystal Heart. I looked upon it. It certainly lived up to it's name, it most definitely was a heart shaped crystal. The heart was completely light blue and didn't sport a single curve, opting to instead be very edgy. And I could've sworn I saw it sparkle in my sister's sunlight. I averted my eyes to a plaque just to the left of the heart, I scanned it to only find that it didn't tell me anything Sombra hadn't already told me. So I slowly trotted up to the thing, letting out a breath I didn't even know I was holding in. I said, "Let's see if this thing really works," to my friends as I prepared to stare it down. I guess I was kind of afraid of what I'll actually see when I looked into it. I knew what I wanted, my sister's throne as she happily sat in mine with Chrysalis lying on my lap, both smiling up at me (and for some reason, an almost evil smile on me). I was afraid that's not what I'll see when I look into it. But I still stallioned up and looked into the thing and got... I don't know. I saw a pair of angry red eyes shooting open followed by my moon rising in my beautiful night sky. Or maybe it wasn't my moon, there was a spotty silhouette of a unicorn on it. And it was probably not my night sky either, for there was not a single star up, just darkness, blackness, a never ending void that showed absolutely nothing. How can this possibly be my future, what can it possibly mean? I had no idea but it still made me scared for my life, it seemed lonely and sad and angry! Why!? I didn't know my life would end up like that! Who would or could possibly know that I'd be here!? Still on this Celestia-forsaken moon for all eternity!? I didn't ask for this, I don't want this! I miss Chrysalis, I miss Uncle Starswirl, I miss my-... ... ... ... Sorry, I think this autobiography may have gotten the the better of me for a second there. Let's just get back to the story at hoof. I fell back onto my flank, wondering nothing less of, "What the?" "So," I heard a familiar voice say. I turned my head to see Chrysi looking at me with an innocent smile, "What'd you see?" I thought for a second, what did I see?, only to come to one conclusion... loneliness. I saw loneliness. But of course I couldn't say that, say my future is full of lonelilness, I'm sure that's a fantastic mare-magnet. So I quickly came up with something on the spot, looking at the ground, "N-nothing. I didn't see anything, it's just a scam." I saw Sombra's half-lidded eyes shoot open even faster than the ones in my vision did, almost like he just remembered something he once forgot. I looked back to Chrysi as she begins to talk once again, "Well, that stinks! I honestly don't know why we keep this thing around, but whatever." I switched my focus over to Sombra as he begins to speak, "Well, I guess you're right Chrysalis, this thing is just pretty junk." He then looked at me with a hard stare and a frown, quickly being replaced with a much friendlier look and smirk. After they both helped me up and onto my hooves again, he and I let Chrysi ahead of us as we go where ever she's leading us. Sombra lightly bumped into me and I hear him whisper, "We need to talk." A couple hours pass and the fare is nearing an end as late evening is on it's way. Chrysi, Sombra, and I are just trotting around when, out of nowhere, Sombra opens his mouth, "Hey, Chrysalis. Can I speak with Luna alone for a few seconds?" I look at Chrysi as her eyes slowly open wider and her mouth slowly turns into a smile bigger than what I've seen out of her all day. "Yes! I'll just get out off your manes as I go prepare your wedding!" She galloped away at break neck speed to go do Celestia-knows-what (as far as I knew, she could actually be preparing our wedding). I turned to Sombra, "Please don't tell me you're actually going to ask me out." I saw his eyes open wide, as he began stuttering, "Oh! I, uh, uh, I, n-no. N-n-not that I-I m-mea-" "What is it," I cut him off, just wanting him to get to the point. "R-right, um," I heard him clear his throat as he continued, "What is it that you saw in that Crystal Heart?" Now it's my turn for my eyes to open wide and to start stuttering, "I-I, uh, uhm, t-told you. I saw a-absolutely noth-" "Yeah, and I saw a pool full of bits," he said, not only cutting me off, but also in a sarcastic manner. "Cut the crap, what did you really see?" "Well, um," I thought for a minute when a great idea came to mind, "Why should I tell you?" "What," he asked, losing his serious tone, swapping it out for more of a genuinely confused one. "Well, why should I tell you? I sure don't have a legitimate reason to. If I do tell, you could go off and tell Chrysalis or Celestia. So, I want to hear what you saw, just in case you do open your big mouth." I saw his expression change just as quickly as it did before, this time into a more frustrated and angry one. "Okay, if I tell you what I saw, will you tell me what you really saw?" I gave him a nod before he continued, "Alright, I'm honestly not a hundred percent sure what I witnessed. There was a ghostly, black and gray fog figure going through a group of red and black crystals with an ugly black sky. Then the vision panned up to the sky where I saw the Crystal Heart falling and hitting some kind of invisible floor. It then broke into a million tiny little pieces. The entire thing just gave off this feeling of-" he stopped abruptly. Seemingly trying to find the right words to say before they finally spilled out of him, "pure evil..." "Just like mine..." "Huh?" I then went on to explain my entire vision in as great detail as possible. We both agreed to never speak of this conversation with anypony else and finished off speaking just as we saw Chrysalis trotting back with cups of punch in her magic. "You two lovebirds done," she asked, giving us each a cup. "Yes, we're done talking," I said. "And no, we're still not dating," Sombra quickly followed up. "Well that sucks," Chrysi continued, "Sorry then, Lulu." "Why," I asked in a both curious and worried tone, with my eyebrow slowly rising up. "Well, I ran into your sister and Discord on my way back and told them both that you two are in love." Sombra and I facehoofed again. "But don't worry," she said, grabbing our attention, "I'm sure that in a few more months, you two will be inseparable!" Sombra and I facehoofed one last time as Chrysi wore nothing less than her now trademarked smirk. In the distance, I hear Celestia calling for me, "Luna come on! We have to go do our jobs here soon!" I rushed back to my sister's side only to hear her say, "Hey, don't you want to bring your colt-" "No. Just, just no," I say, interrupting her. I then hear both my sister and Discord give out a hardy laugh as I wave goodbye to Chrysi and Sombra. I realized something about a second later, "Wait, where's Uncle Starswirl?" "Oh, he went back a while ago. Said something about his stomach hurting and spells. I don't know, but he left." The three of us made it back just on time for Celestia and I to bring around nighttime. She and Discord went off to her room (bringing up both a visual and audible, "Ew," out of me), while I headed off to mine. After over an hour of tossing and turning, I finally fell asleep. Author's Note Hey look, a proper chapter! I honestly never thought that there'd be a chapter of this with a normal amount of words! With that said, I am so, so, so sorry that's it's been this long since the last chapter! I've been so busy with life, school, & my YouTube channels, it's honestly been a lot. And my situation is not going to get much better. I'm working on a review of Fairly OddBaby right now, but I promise that as soon as that is out, I will go right to work on at least 3 more chapters of this! I swear. Also, did you notice that my writing has gotten a lot better? Yeah, between my review series & a writing class I'm currently taking, I'm hoping that at least that'll be nothing but uphill. I adore Chrysalis is this chapter! I looked back on her character in the past & realized that I didn't give her much personality this side of Fluttershy, Big Mac, & Marble. So I thought up of this personality for her & I think it really suites my take on the character. The inspiration came from myself (yeah, look hard enough & everybody in this story is based on me), & the fact that I will literally do this kind of shit to absolutely every friend I have. I am that guy who will randomly rickroll you in 2015, so that's what I made Chrysi! I've been getting my shit together as far as titles are concerned. I took the first chapter's name (the only chapter not named after a song) & changed it to When The Day Met The Night, a fantastic song by Panic! At The Disco. Actually, the title of this chapter was originally Mind Games, but I changed it to Imagine because A.) Mind Games is a great idea for a chapter title, so I want to save it, & B.) I'm actually going to rename the story that! Of course, the change isn't going to be right away (I want a couple more chapters to tell anyone reading this story that) but it is going to happen at some point. Probably after the 3 chapters I do after my Fairly OddBaby review. With Sombra, I wanted to make a guy who's both intimidating & fun to be around... so I did! I honestly don't know what I'm going to do with his personality, which is weird because I have absolutely every step of his character already planned out & we just took a trip into his psyche. Normally I'd just say, "Let's do a dream sequence with him," but I don't think it'll help much. Maybe I can do something about his romances... I'm really liking what I'm doing with Luna's personality, especially that part where she completely breaks character. That was honestly a lot of fun to write. I hope I can write more scenes like that in the future. I completely took the idea of the Crystal Heart from the comics! I really liked the idea, so I stole it & ran with it! Don't expect too much of Starswirl. After Luna's training with him, I don't have too much to do with him other than having him show up & eat everyone's food. Maybe I can pull off a Mr. Miyagi kind of character & make him wise & intellectual, but I don't think I'm that good of a writer. My favorite line this chapter is by far letting out a breath I didn't even know I was holding in because I see it come up a lot in bad clopfics, so I really wanted to put it in Worlds Apart! Actually, this is a very good chapter (at least compared to the past ones). I hope that the rest of this book will be just as good. That should be everything, so thank you reading & I hope you've enjoyed! Please think about giving it a thumbs up, adding it to your library, or following me! Thank you, & good night!
Chap. 16: 99 Bottles Of BeerView OnlineMind GamesChap. 16: 99 Bottles Of BeerWhen I awoke, my moon was still in the sky. I trot out of the room and down the hallway to notice something I rarely ever see. Celestia was in her queen sized bed with (I presume) Discord, sleeping soundly with the loudest snoring I've ever heard... or, at least since the last time I heard her snoring. I wonder how Discord would be able to sleep with that noise always being present while I approach the door. It opens easily, strange seeing how we both normally keep all the doors locked "for our own safety." Squeaking a little, it came as no concern seeing how Discord could sleep through Celestia's thunderous snoring, I'm sure he wouldn't mind a bit of squeaking. That's when I noticed that he wasn't there, at least I didn't think so. My sister seemed to have bundled herself in as many blankets that she was able to find, I saw one princess-sized bump in the middle of her bed placed neatly in the middle of her room. Unlike my bedroom where anything could honestly go anywhere with whatever I owned spread across the floor, Celestia seemed to have cared much more about her living space. Nothing had a speck of dust and it was all placed in a specific location. There wasn't a single thing on her floor, it too seemed to be spotless. To her far left, there was a large table with a cloth on top that's big enough to be the only thing touching the ground. On top, it adorned several beakers and tubes and cups and... I don't even know what half of them are. Inside were many differently colored liquids that I didn't know anything about, and had no intention of figuring out. They each had labels that read some chemical formulas that I wouldn't be able to understand if my life depended on it. One read AsF5, another was CCl3NO2, and the last one I read stated CH2N2... a sign on the front of the table stated that they were all deadly, I'm pretending I didn't see that. Between her and the table are a couple of overflowing boxes stacked on top of one another. There were only 5, but it's weird that there were any boxes at all. I tried to take a look at what might've been coming out of the tops but I couldn't tell what they were. Everything I saw was brightly colored and was strangely shaped, reminded me of something out of a Dr. Hoofs book. Assuming they had something to do with Celestia's poisonous science experiment, I ignored them and continued looking through her room. On the right of the bed, she had a record player of her own next to a clock, both atop a shelf of her short collection of music. My sister never engulfed herself in the musical arts as I did, never even touched an instrument. The small selection she owned wasn't too good either, not bad but far from great in my opinion. So it only went to show that in that same shelf, she also only had a small amount of books as well. Unlike her music though, her literature was all educational. The types that most young foals dreaded whenever they went to school. I'm just glad that I was homeschooled, or else I'd probably run away at only the sight of it. You'd laugh, but I've seen that happen! Above her bed, Celestia had a detailed portrait of our parents. It seemed as though they were both staring at me, judging me... I threw my eyes away to look at the clock atop her bedside shelf. It was a standard black and white clock with three arrows pointing out the minute, hour, and seconds. Or at least the minute and hour, after about a day of trying to figure that damned thing out, neither Celestia nor I could get the seconds just right. We hated having to give up, but we figured that having it be off by a few seconds wouldn't spell the end of the world. At the top was a tiny, silver hammer that was meant to hit two tiny, silver, hollow balls to make a ringing noise. Since, most of the time, Celestia has to get me to do our job rather than the other way around, she has it set to go off when it's time. You know, with that one clock all that's telling us when to lower the moon and raise the sun, it might just spell the apocalypse only being a few seconds off. I checked two of the arrows to see the time only to see it was four in the morning. I guess I could let her sleep a while longer. I turn and trot out, using my magic to close the door as quietly as possible. As I started my decent down our stairs, I hear the noise of something hitting the ground somewhat hard coming from where I was going. Hurriedly, I got down to the kitchen in ten seconds flat to not be greeted by a burglar or killer, only Discord. I'm not too disappointed, he did say hi by offering me coffee after all. I happily accepted before asking what he was doing down there. "Have you ever heard your sister snore before? It's like sleeping through a hurricane," he answered matter-of-factly whilst picking up the couple of spoons I assumed he dropped. "Just put in earplugs, you've slept over before," I answered back in between laughs. "I didn't know I was staying over until last minute, I didn't have time to grab my ear plugs and by Celestia, I can't say no to that mare!" He was then washing off the spoons before putting some away, leaving two on the counter. "Thou shalt not take thy princess' name in vain," I say, mockingly. A second later, he looks at me extremely annoyed. After I get my giggles out, I tell him, "That's what you get for being in love. I'd say I blame ya, but I honestly can't." "Just wait, one day I'll be saying that to you." A few awkward seconds pass before Discord breaks the silence, "While we're on the topic of sleeping, what are you doing up?" "I'm the princess of the night, I live for the beauty of each star in my gloriously dark sky." "As corny and bullshitty as that is, I get what you mean. Your sky is much nicer than Celestia's." "See what I mean? I put hard work in each of those dots up there." "Do you really have to put every single star up there every single night?" "Nah, they're always up there. It's just that during the day, you can't really see them due to the sheer brightness of the sun. My moon, on the otherhoof, simply reflects the sun's light. With that said, they're still my stars. And seeing how the sun is technically a star, I own more suns than Celestia," I say with a grin. "Wow, I didn't expect to be going to school tonight," he jokingly stated before checking our coffee maker. "Yeah, well... wait, can't you just poof up some coffee?" "Yeah but," he stops himself for a quick minute before continuing, "yeah!" Discord then snaps his fingers and two cups start floating in the air, one right in front of me. I hesitated before picking it up in my magic and staring at it like it was about to explode. "What's up," he asked as he ironically started floating upside down. "It's just that it's magically made and, I don't know..." "Oh come on, I know just how you like it!" He then teleports himself right-side up and takes a sip of his cup. "Do you," I questioned. After all, he's never made me coffee before. "Just two-thirds filled with caffeine, one-third with milk, five spoon-fulls of melted chocolate, at least 25 tiny marshmallows-" "That sounds more like hot chocolate," I told him bluntly. "And just a dash of peppermint!" "I hate mint! You know this sounds more like how you'd like it!" "It is! And how your sister likes it now too!" "But-" "Oh, just try it already," he commanded, cutting me off. "... Alright." I stare long and hard at the cup. He's not going to poison me... right? Maybe Celestia would, she does have that collection upstairs. I look at his beaming face before I take one large gulp of coffee... and it's really good! "Hey, this isn't half bad! And it doesn't taste like hot chocolate at all, what else did you put in it," I asked, half expecting him to say something disgusting. "Mmmm, I might've replaced the milk with alcohol," he stated with the largest shit-eating grin I've ever seen, followed by a sip. "You know, in alicorn years, I'm only 16." "I know." "And Celestia doesn't like the idea of me drinking." "I know." "And that this is actually the first time I've actually drank." "Yes, yes, I know all this. It's just that if I didn't introduce you, then someone like Sombra or (what do you call her, Chrysi is it?) probably will. And I'd honestly prefer you starting someplace where an experienced adult can make sure you don't get drunk or anything like that... Not to mention, I want you to see me more as a good friend and not just your sister's coltfriend. Especially with me moving in and-" "Wait, what!?" "I'm moving in," he stops to take a sip of what I've realized was also alcoholic coffee before beginning again, "Did Celestia not tell you this?" "No, she didn't... huh." I wondered why she didn't tell me this before. It's not like this is something that they both just decided, those boxes in her room must be all his stuff. Now that I think of it, "Why don't you just poof up your earplugs?" "Because then we wouldn't have this conversation!" "And I take it all those boxes in her room are your's?" "Yep!" "Then why don't you poof that stuff to wherever you want them?" "Do you know how hard it is to poof shit around? The coffee is one thing, I can just imagine this and... well, poof! But all my stuff? I'd have to imagine every single thing I own and exactly where I want it. There's things in there I forgot I even owned." We both take sips of our coffee before he continued, "And by the way, it's not just poofing, it's called molecular-reconstruction. You see, draconequuses have the innate magical ability to deconstruct the air and really anything else into their basic molecular structure. From there, we can change them to create the exact elements we need to create whatever our hearts desire. You can actually see it happening, it's just that it happens so fast that the naked pony eye is unable to see it. Other than that, we're pretty much like unicorns except minus the magical field around whatever we touch and a horn, all that magic is put in our left middle finger. We can do whatever spells and tricks unicorns can do and need training to do any of them just like unicorns do. It's just that we're much more powerful, and therefore, it's much easier for us to do them." I think for a bit about what I've learned before coming up with a way of being lazy, "Then can you move the moon for me?" "Oh no! I have a lot of power, but not that much! Think of it like this, draconequuses are about as powerful as ten normal unicorns. Back before your parents, it took somewhere around thirteen unicorns to raise the sun? Right?" He stops to get my approval, which I give in the form of a nodding head. "So, alicorns are at least three unicorns more powerful than a draconequus and I am basically fucking thirteen ponies at once every other night." There was a long pause before I decided my next move, "Okay, didn't need to hear that." "Drink some more of that coffee, it'll help you forget about it." I do so before speaking again, "Also, I didn't expect to be going to school tonight either." After mocking him, we both finish whatever of our coffees we had left and Discord molecular-reconstructs (you know, I think I'll just stick with 'poofs') earplugs into his claw. "Well, I'm headed back to bed and I suggest that you do the same. You did only get about five hours of sleep," Discord stated as he started trotting away. "Nah, I think I'll just read a book until I have to lower my moon. But I can go for another one of those coffees!" Just then, we both hear the coffee machine go off, signalling it being done. "There you go!" "You know, we don't have any alcohol." "I know," he says quizzaciously, with the widest grin I've ever seen on his face before he heads back upstairs. I stay in the kitchen a while longer as I make a new cup of coffee when I finally took a good look at the front of the cup he had poofed for me. It showed Discord with that exact same smile on his face that I'd seen just moments before with a thumbs up that was holding up a coffee cup with my confused face on the front of it, holding up a coffee cup in a magical aura with the same picture of Discord on the front and on the cup he's holding is the same picture of my face holding up a cup with... I stopped being able to tell what was on the cups but I think I could probably guess. I shake it off as Discord being Discord and continue pouring my coffee. Then I had the idea of actually trying that recipe Discord recommended, just with actual milk; after making and trying it, I can say it also wasn't half bad. I go upstairs and into my bedroom, as much as I wanted to read something, all I could think about is why Celestia didn't tell me about him moving in. I mean, I'm not mad or anything, I get why he's moving in, but why did I have to hear it from Discord instead of my own big sister? A while later, I found myself yawning and decided to have a small nap only to hear knocking on my door as soon as my eyes were shut. "Come on Lulu," I hear my sister's groggy voice say those two syllables of a word and I automatically wanted to kill her, "it's time." I slowly get up, stretch my back, and head outside with both Celestia and Discord following right behind. We do our job and hear that draconequus' applause. "We don't need approval," I said sarcastically. "Yes, but I thought it might help," he replied with just as much sass. "Get used to it, you get sick of seeing those two moving around after the eight billionth, two hundred and thirty-nine millionth, five hundred and fifty-six thousandth, seven hundred and twenty-first time." "It hasn't- wait, what do you mean 'get used to it?' Did he tell you he was moving in," Celestia asked, somewhat peeved. I nod a little too quickly before she rolls her eyes, clearly annoyed. "Yeah, well...," she takes a large sigh, "see ya..." She then marches inside, grabbing Discord's lion paw in the process. He shrugs at me, apparently not knowing what's going on as they head inside. I shrug it off as I think about what to do... ooh! I bet Starswirl's probably working on something really cool! I started my day by trotting to his cottage. Author's Note Expect 2 more chapters by month's end! And after that, I'm renaming the story "Mind Games." Oh boy, where do I begin with this chapter. I like it, it might just be one of the better chapters. It's kind of pointless because this is really all about Discord & Celestia, but hey, I can't make this completely about Luna & Chrysalis! The funny thing is that it started with being about what the next chapter's gonna be about (I even had the name of it down), but this is what came out of my typing fingers instead! I have not tried that kind of coffee, but I assure you that I'll make an update to this author's notes as soon as I do. In the meantime, why don't you try it & tell me how it is? I'm honestly really interested. I'm currently taking a writing class & I feel like that's coming out in my writing. But more importantly, I'm playing a lot (& I do mean a shit ton) of TellTale games recently & I know that's showing. Can't you just imagine trying to walk around Celestia's room, clicking that eye icon to inspect a clock. I kind of wanted to write down "Discord will remember that" every other line they spoke to each other. I joke, but I fucking love playing them TellTale games. I think this is the first time I swore in the story. I mean, I swear fucking constantly in these shitty author's notes, but I don't think I've actually swore in the story before this. It really doesn't matter (Worlds Apart is rated T for a reason), but it's kind of interesting. I wrote that part with alcohol praying that it doesn't contradict a little detail in a past chapter that I just don't remember. I don't think it does, but there's a good possibility that it does & in that event, make sure to find a desk to crouch under. In this entire chapter, I think I'm mostly proud that I got the word "quizzaciously" in there. That's a little word only us Vsauce fans will know... & even then, most of us probably still don't. If anyone's wondering, yes, those are actually poisonous chemical formulas. That's one of the few Google search histories I manually deleted. The song 99 Bottles Of Beer may seem like a weird title to give this chapter, but I challenge you to think of one better! I put so many details into things nobody cares about the details of that I feel like Kkat! Have I made enough Fallout: Equestria jokes yet, because I have a ton more. That should be all, so thank you for reading! Make sure to like the fic & follow it for updates whenever it does! Like how I beg for likes? That's the kind of shit you get used to after being on YouTube for so long...
Chap. 6: If I Needed SomeoneView OnlineMind GamesChap. 6: If I Needed SomeoneCelestia walked in as I was grounding up the coffee beans. She seemed to have been half asleep and just glad to see me again. She sat to the table nearest to me and said, "Good morning. You know, we have servants to make you coffee if you really need some." I just simply rolled my eyes and said, "Yeah, but I like to do some things myself." "Then what's the point in having them?" "To do the things I don't want to do. Plus, you tend to use our servants a lot more often than I do." I put the coffee pot on top of an open flame and sat across from my sister, she seemed to have been thinking of what to say next. Then, she continued, "Fair enough, how did your sleep over at 'Chrysi's' go?" Even without having to look at her, I could sense that she was trying her best to hold back the urge to fall on the floor, laughing her flank off. I smiled at her and replied, "It went just fine, thank you very much." Half of me was trying to be snarky while the other half was actually being genuine. "What did you do?" "Not her, that's for sure," I barely whispered through my teeth. "What?" Celestia still heard me, but wasn't able to make out a single word I said. "Oh, nothing. We just hung around; played, read, ate, you know. That kind of stuff." At this point, my coffee was just about done. I got up and made myself a cup as I asked, "You want some?" "No thank you, I'm already pretty awake." She paused for a moment, as if she was about to say something but forgot exactly what. Then, like if she just remembered, she continued, "Well, that's nice that you got to hang with your new friend." I sat back down to contemplate what's happening right now. Celestia and I were just talking like normal ponies, this was amazing! I was certain that when I came home, everything would go back to how it was before the Gala, before I got my cutie mark. Back to my own sister acting as depressed as she has been for who knows how long. For the first time in forever, it was like I had my old sister back! I was determined to figure out what's got Celestia back on her hooves and hug it to death! "So, what's got you so chipper?" It took Celestia a few seconds to think about what I just said. And yet, all she could think of to say was, "What?" "You seem to be happier than you normally are, what's up?" "Oh, well, I met someone last night at the Gala. We seemed to have hit it off pretty well. He's gonna take me on a date this Friday." My eyes widened with shock. If I was drinking my coffee, I would've probably done a spit take! Not that I'm surprised that she was able to get a date, with how she looked, I would've been more surprised if she didn't get hit on by every other stallion there. I was just shocked that she was able to get away from that line of ponies! I got a smirk on my face as I asked, "Ooh, so whose the lucky stallion!?" "He's real nice and I think you two will enjoy each others company. You're very much like him, you know." "Okay, that answers my next question, but that first one is still in the air! Who is he!?" "Okay, he's very strange and different. So if you make fun of him, I swear-" "Come on, what's his name!? He can't be any stranger than the mare I'm chasing." A moment of pure silence filled the room. It only lasted a second or two, but it was still quieter than I've ever heard it get in this castle. Then, finally, she answered, "His name is Discord." I considered that for a moment. I knew exactly whom she was referring to. Part of me couldn't believe it, the other part put in a bet that it was him the second she mentioned that she had a date. I thought of what to say next, but really, what else could I say other than, "Oh, you mean that drac-, drac-, drac-" Celestia giggled and replied, "It's pronounced drac-, drac-. Great, now you've got me saying it too." We shared a hardy laugh as we said, "Draconequus," together. Saying it very slowly, making sure that we pronounced it correctly this time. I then continued, "Well, I hope it works out for you two lovebirds," as I then started to take a few sips from my coffee. It was still hot, so I couldn't drink any more than that at a time. Celestia replied, "And I hope it works out for you and Chrysalis. By the way, did you ever find out if she actually feels the same way about you as you do for her?" "No, I didn't actually think about asking her." I was confused at this question. Was I supposed to ask or was I just supposed to pick up the signals while we were together? Was that something you find out within the first day or two of knowing them? "I hope she does." "Well, you've got to take this kind of stuff slowly. You can't expect somepony to love you just like that." "And if she never does?" "Then, at least you've still got a new friend. Though, I wouldn't be that worried about it. Even if this one doesn't work out, there's always going to be someone willing to give you a shot! And being pretty and a princess only helps your odds. Heck, I bet every mare in Equestria that's from that side of the street would date you in a heart beat!" "Yeah, well, let's just stick with this one right now," I wasn't completely sure about what she had said. But, Celestia knew more about relationships than I did, so I took her word for it. A quietness overtook the room for about a minute as we both thought about what to say next. Finally, I broke the silence and said, "Hey, when do you think I'd be able to meet Discord?" She considered it and replied, "I don't know. How's two weeks sound to you?" "Sure! And I want you to remember, if he makes the slightest mistake on Friday, tell me so that I can kick him to the moon!" "I'll consider it," Celestia said, getting up from her seat. "Anyways, I'm sure I've got something important to do. If you get hungry, there's a lot of leftovers from the Gala in the ice box." "Alright, see ya," I said, getting up to put my now empty cup in our sink. "See ya," and with that, she left the kitchen. Leaving me with only my thoughts as I sat back down. Author's Note Well, I genuinely liked this chapter. Both reading & writing this was a blast, even more than the last couple chapters! If anyone's wondering, my favorite chapter is still Smile, Smile, Smile. But really, who cares about that? Let's go over the critiques I've gotten since the last chapter! This first one is a personal critique that I'm surprised no one else has pointed out. The chapters are very short, I mean, this one is literally just a single conversation. That's because of a combination of a few reasons. For one, my audiences attention span. Not that I don't think any of you can or will be willing to read a chapter as long as one from Fallout: Equestria, but I don't think this particular story is great enough to hold everyone's attention for that long. Another is because I can get into greater detail this way. If I focus on a smaller part of this story for each chapter, I can go into as great of detail as I want without worrying that a particular chapter is too long. And, finally, it's just the style I'm most familiar with. I grew up with television & the internet, so I'm very used to shorter forms of media. Therefore, it's a lot easier for me to write & edit each chapter if they're shorter like this. As for references, I was a bit blunt in the last one. To be fair, I needed some blunt references to make the character of Chrysalis more 3-dimensional. I think this chapter was a lot less obvious having at least 3 references in it. See if you can catch them all!.. make that 4. Then there's things like Chrysalis reading their equivalent to 50 Shades of Grey, Luna drinking coffee., & these tweens doing some other adult-like things. That is more of a cultural difference than anything else. Though I'm not completely sure on what their exact age is, they're definitely about 14-16 years old. when I was about that age, everyone was drinking coffee every morning & watching R-rated movies. No one really cared that we were doing that. Since this story is written like they're growing up in a time I did with the technology & verbiage of Equestria, it's only fitting that stuff like that would end up in the story. Now, with that out of the way, lets get into some fun facts about this chapter! Originally, there was a whole 2nd part to this chapter that would (spoilers) involve Starswirl & the Dream Weaver spell. But, I knew that it would have almost nothing to do with this chapter so I'm making it chapter 7. With that said, this one was very much inspired by the Owl's Well That Ends Well episode of the Mentally Advanced series. I think it's amazing how much character you can get out of a single conversation between 2 characters & I tried to replicate it here with varying degrees of success. Also, reading chapter 5, I think me being a male really hindered the quality of the whole thing. I mean, it was about the romantic/friendly relationship between 2 females. It's almost impossible for me to have done that completely correct. Not that I regret the chapter, I still very much like it & did the best I could do, but I'm also shocked that no one critiqued how not-realistic the relationship between Luna & Chrysalis felt. In any case, I hope you've enjoyed this chapter & I'll try to get chapter 7 out as soon as I can with the best quality that I can!

To tell you the truth, I had always wanted to end Worlds Apart like this, but never knew how. Then, one day, it just came to me. It was so perfect, that I didn't need to fix a thing in editing. Maybe a couple grammar mistakes, but that's it. I would like to thank you all for reading and we'll see what comes next. Oh yeah, and happy April Fools Day or something like that.
