Shadows Start to Rise - Part 1
Previous ChapterNext ChapterIt was the middle of the night and Twilight was walking up and down the hall. She was trying to be as quiet as possible, so that she wouldn't wake up anyone.
"What am I gonna do?" She questioned herself. "I like Gumdramon, but I don't want to ruin our friendship." Twilight started to panic, but did her breathing exercises to calm down. "It's okay, I mean they were just dreams after all. It probably means nothing."
As Twilight turned the corner, she bumped into someone. She was about to hit her back on the ground, until something caught her. She slowly opened her eyes to see that it was Gumdramon. From a 3rd person view, it looked like they were doing the dip at the end of a dance. Their faces were only inches away from each other. Twilight face was engulfed in the color red.
"You okay?" Gumdramon asked.
Twilight's pupils were larger than normal and her eyes were sparkling as she looked into Gumdramon's emerald eyes. Once she snapped out of it, she got back to her hooves and simply nodded to answer his question. "W-what are you doing up so late?" She asked, looking away from him.
"I heard walking and I thought someone broke in. Once I heard that it was coming from outside your door, well, I rushed to see if you were okay." Gumdramon said, with a tint of blush on his cheeks.
Twilight just looked at him in 'aw'. "Y-you... were trying to... p-protect me." She asked, her eyes doing the same thing from earlier.
Gumdramon walked backwards a little. "Y-yeah. Well, I-I gotta go."
Once he was out of her sight, Twilight still had a love struck smile on her face. She shook her head as quick as possible. "Okay, maybe those dreams do mean something."
Cadence was walking down the stairs when she heard the noise of over hooves behind her. "I know what you're going to say and I'm sorry." She slowly turned around to see a ruffed mane Twilight with tears flowing down her cheeks. Cadence noticed this and quickly wrapped her hooves around her in a tight embrace. "What happened?"
Twilight sniffed and looked into Cadence's eyes, saying her next few words in the most serious tone she ever had. "I love him."
Cadence shook her head after hearing it. "What? Love who?"
With another sniff, she answered Cadence's question. "Gumdramon."
Shock engulfed Cadence's face, but was slowly replaced with a small smile. "Then, why are you crying?"
"Because, I don't know how this will end. Will he love me back or will he just laugh at me." Twilight rubbed the sides of her heads forcefully. "What if he doesn't want to be friends with me anymore." Twilight started crying into her hooves.
Cadence put on her most caring smile as she lifted up Twilight's head. "Twilight. You are an amazing pony, your smart, strong, and beautiful. If Gumdramon doesn't see that, well then he isn't worth it."
Twilight's lip began to quiver. "B-but what if he rejects me like Flash." More tears started to form in her eyes.
"It won't be like that, I promise."
"How do you know?"
"Because Gumdramon is not Flash."
Cadence used her magic to teleport and levitate a tissue to Twilight's eyes then muzzle.
"T-thank you Cadence." She said, returning the hug from earlier. "But what do I do now?"
"Well, love takes time to become really special. So, the only thing you have to do now is just wait."
"Wait?" She asked, tilting her head.
"Yes. Just wait for the time you're ready to tell him and just go for it."
Twilight smiled and wiped her eyes with a hoof. "You're right."
"Lord Plasmamon!" Dark Shoutmon yelled across the room.
Two big red eyes quickly opened and looked in his direction. "What is it? I was trying to regain my energy. This spiritual form isn't exactly a body you know!"
Dark Shoutmon cowered in fear. "I-I know sir. I just came in here to let you know that the Shadow you wanted is all charged up and ready to go."
Suddenly, a giant black glob of goo stretch out of the shadows and held Dark Shoutmon to the wall. "Then what are you waiting for?! Send it to that miserable Gumdramon already!" The black glob let him fall to the floor and went back into the dark corner of the room.
Dark Shoutmon started coughing. "Of course sir! I'll get the machine ready."
As Dark Shoutmon left the room, The red eyes looked at an orb showing Gumdramon making pancakes in a crystal kitchen. "You hear that Gumdramon? The D-Drive will be mine!"
Twilight was walking towards the kitchen when she came to a sudden stop. She saw Gumdramon was flipping pancakes. "There he is. Remember, wait for the right time." She said to herself.
"Um, good morning Gumdramon." She said with rosy cheeks.
Gumdramon slowly turned around to see who it was. "Oh, good morning Twilight." Gumdramon stopped what he was doing and walked towards Twilight. He put a hand on her cheek and rubbed it with his thumb. This act made her blush even more than before. "Where you... crying?" He asked, looking very concerned.
Twilight, once again, was looking deep into his emerald green eyes. "M-maybe." She said, wincing away.
"Do you wanna talk about it?"
"Uh, no. I mean, it's okay. I already talked to Cadence about it. I'm fine, really." She said, giving him a fake smile.
"If you say so. But I just want you to know that if there is anything you need to tell me, I'll be here to listen." He said, walking back to the stove.
Twilight just had one more tear dropped down her cheek. "If only I could."
