Spike's Inner Dragon - Part 4
Previous ChapterNext Chapter"Spike, can you hear me?"
Spike slowly opened his eyes, blinking a few times before keeping them open. He sat up, rubbing the back of his. "W-Where am I?" Spike said, revealing that he could see his own breathe. "Whoa, it's not even that cold."
"Spike, you need to listen to me!" Gumdramon's voice echoed.
"Huh? Gumdramon, what's going on? What is this place?" Spike asked, getting up.
"Long story short, this is your Kaleidoscope. It's a very confusing place in your mind that's created by forgotten memories and dreams. Now, do you see a small fridge?"
"What? Why would there be a-Oh there it is." Spike interrupted himself, noticing a small fridge floating upside down.
"Alright, now open it and there should be a hallway inside."
Spike raised an eyebrow as he walked up the the small fridge. He slowly reached for the handle and quickly opened it, revealing a large hallway. "Whoa, this is weird." Spike said, looking at the back of the fridge before going into the fridge. Spike quickly turned around, seeing that the door was no longer there.
"Okay, now this is going to be pretty dangerous."
"What do you mean by da-" Spike stopped, staring down the long hallway. There were several cell doors going down the hallway, each one had different strange noises.
"This seems to be where a lot of your nightmare creatures are held. It's best if you stay as far away from each cell as you can. Whatever you do, don't let them touch you."
Spike was standing still as he shook with fear. He snapped out of his fearful trance when a flashlight hit him in the back of the head. He quickly grabbed it and turned it on. He slowly walked down the hallway, staying away from the cells. He kept the flashlight off them, so that he didn't see how terrifying there were. Before Spike could move away from the next cell, a spider leg-like tentacle grabbed one of Spike's legs, pulling him towards the cell. Spike screamed as he shined the light at the creature, revealing it as a large, plant-like spider. Spike fell on the floor, hearing the spider plant screech in pain. He looked up, seeing the spider plant cowering in the corner, staying away from the light coming from the flashlight.
"Y-You're scared of the light?" Spike said, picking up the flashlight. He looked at the spider plant and then at the flashlight. He smiled at the spider plant, causing it to cower again. It opened it eyes, no longer seeing any light. "There you go. I may be scared of you, but you're scared of the light. If I don't have this light on in the hallway, will you stop trying to scare me?" Spike said, giving a nervous, but gentle smile to the creature.
"Yessss." The spider plant said. Suddenly, the cell bars disappeared and the spider plant rushed out of it's room. Spike coward, awaiting for something to happen. He opened one of his eyes to see a door where the spider plant's cell used to be. Spike looked up, seeing the spider plant crawling on the ceiling. "Goooo... that... way..." It slowly said, point at the door.
"Uh, Gumdramon?" Spike called, looking around.
"Well that is a shortcut. I just didn't think you could've gotten to it, what with there being one of your nightmares in the way."
Spike turned to the spider plant, smiling at it. "Thank you!" He said, waving to the creature as he ran towards the door. As he entered the door, he could see that all of the cells had appendages waving at him in a much more friendly manner.
Spike entered the door, now in a completely different room. In fact, it wasn't really a room. It was a bizarre version of Ponyville Park. There a lot of his childhood items floating around in the air, along with some memories of him and Twilight playing in the park. He smiled, loving to see how much fun they were having in the memories.
"Alright Gumdramon, where to now?" Spike stood there for a few seconds, not receiving a response. "Uh, Gumdramon? Hello? Anypony?" Spike said, getting quieter with each word he said. He could hear a strange, distorted laugh coming from all around him. He looked left, right, up, down, but to no avail.
"Hello loser!" The distorted voice said, this time it was clearly coming from behind Spike. He slowly turned around to see himself, except it had the same broken mirror and distorted reality effect as the Kaleidoscope.
"W-Who are you!" Spike stuttered at first, but quickly got into a fighting stance.
"Isn't it obvious? I mean, you're pretty much looking into a mirror. A bit of a fun house mirror, but you get the idea." It replied, floating around Spike without any legs.
"You are not me."
"Well, that is true. I'm not a lame loser like you, but I am a part of you. I'm your true self, your dragon side." He exclaimed.
"My what?"
"Oh c'mon dude! We've met before, well... not formally. You remember, right?"
Spiked shrugged, obviously confused by what he was talking about.
"Your birthday! Jeez, what is wrong with you?"
"Wait, you mean when I became a big, scary dragon-"
"That was us! We were finally working together and you were finally embracing me... but you rejected me." It said, staring at Spike. "We were finally being a dragon, but you threw that all away, and for what? Friendship! After that I was put here, immobilized in your Kaleidoscope. That was, until that Misty guy set me free!"
"Oh no..." Spike said, remembering when Mist Lord flicked him in the head. "But why are you trying to take over my body?
"We are a dragon! You proved that your too weak and dumb to be one, so I'll take your place and show those ponies what a real dragon is like!"
"Not if i can help it!" Spike yelled, running at his other self. When Spike was about to hit him, he disappeared.
He began to laugh maniacally. "You twerp chose the wrong playing field to fight in." He said, cracking his knuckles.
