On The Hunt - Part 1

It was early morning in Sweet Apple Acres and Applejack was walking through the fields of apple trees.

"Nothing like a breath of fresh, mornin' air to wake a pony up!" She cheered as she continued to walk down a dirt path. She suddenly stopped, sniffing the air. "Is... is somethin' burnin'?" She wondered, looking around. She stopped once she saw a few spots of grace were black and smoking. "What the?!" She yelled out, looking around for the culprit.

"And that's when I saw the burnt patches of grass! Now who in Equestria would go to a farm and just start burnin' stuff?" Applejack asked, slamming the inactivated Cutie Map.

"Hmm, that is strange." Twilight said, rubbing her chin.

"It's probably just some brats trying to cause trouble." Rainbow interjected, hovering above her chair.

"Dashie may have a point, darling." Rarity said, agreeing with Rainbow.

"I don't care who's doin' it, I just want it to stop! If whoever's doin' this keeps burnin' my land, they could do some serious damage!" Applejack yelled, slamming the map again.

"Ooh, we should have another stake out!" Pinkie suggestive, throwing confetti into the air. Suddenly, she appeared next to Fluttershy. "But this time, we won't find a vampire pony! Right?" Pinkie asked Fluttershy, raising an eyebrow.

"I-I pretty sure." She replied, blushing from embarrassment.

"Well, that might work, but I don't think it'll come to tha-" Before Twilight could finish talking, the Cutie Map activated, showing a closeup on Sweet Apple Acres.

"See! That map says we should go!" Pinkie said, patting herself on the back.

The map began creating each of their cutie marks and floated them to the center of the apple tree fields. Suddenly, the map began emitting a yellow light in the center of all their cutie marks. Slowly, the light disappeared and showed a yellow X between the cutie marks. Everyone's jaws dropped in shock, staring at the X.

"Hey guys, what are you all doing in here?" Gumdramon asked as he opened the doors to the room. The yellow X on his forehead was pulsing in the same manner as their cutie marks. They all turned their attention to him, still looking shocked. "What?" Gumdramon asked, raising an eyebrow in confusion.

"So you're telling me this map tells you where to go in order to solve friendship problems and it decided to choose me to go along with you?" Gumdramon asked.

"Yeah, that's pretty much it." Rainbow said, still hovering in the air.

"I would really love to help you girls tonight, but I've got some work in the lab I need to fi-OUCH!!!" Gumdramon screeched as his X glowed. "You never told me it shocks you!" Gumdramon said, rubbing his forehead.

"We didn't know it did either!" Twilight quickly said before checking Gumdramon's forehead. "Are you alright?" She asked him, looking directly into his eyes.

"Y-Yeah, I-I'm fine." Gumdramon stuttered as he looked into her eyes.

Rainbow glared at the two and then at Twilight. "So!" She shouted, flying between the two. "What's the plan, Twi?" SHe asked, gritting her teeth a little.

"Uh, well, I think we should all meet up at where the map says to meet at sunset." Twilight nervously said.

"Great! That means me and Gumdramon can race a few laps before we have to go!" Rainbow cheered, smirking at Gumdramon.

"But I-"

"But Gumdramon said he was going to help me before he left for work." Twilight interrupted Gumdramon.

"Oh really? I've been wondering this for awhile now... what IS he helping you with?" Rainbow asked her, getting close to her face.

"I-It's not important!" Twilight shouted, blushing a little.

"Well, if it's not that important then I guess it'd be fine to reschedule." Rainbow said, giving Twilight a smug grin.

"Actually I'm su-"

"Why are you making this such a big deal? Do you want Gumdramon all to yourself?" Twilight asked, causing Rainbow to blush.

"W-What, no! If anypony's trying to keep him to herself, it's you!" Rainbow refuted.

"Why you!" Twilight growled, getting right in Rainbow's face.

"Um, girls?"

"What?!" Rainbow and Twilight shouted in unison at Rarity.

"Gumdramon already promised to help Fluttershy with the animals today. Isn't that right, darling?" Rarity asked, turning to Fluttershy.

"Um, y-yes." She confirmed, lightly nodding her head.

"Oh..." Twilight and Rainbow said, looking at each other once more before going back to their seats.

"Well... I guess this ends the meeting. I'll see you all at sunset." Twilight said, regaining her posture.

"Whatever." Rainbow sighed, rolling her eyes before flying off.

"Now then, I believe you two have somewhere to be?" Rarity said, using her magic to nudge Gumdramon and Fluttershy out the door.

"Uh, yeah! We better get going, right?" Gumdramon asked Fluttershy, only receiving a nod in agreement.

"Wow, now that's what I call tension!" Pinkie said as she hopped out of the room.

After a few minutes, Twilight was finally alone in the room. She stared blankly at the door, as if in a trance. "Rainbow and... Gumdramon? Oh no, that's not how it's going down!" Twilight angrily said. "It is on!"
