Spike is depressed because he worries that Fluttershy is ignoring him, so Fluttershy takes him in for a little comforting
Since Spike's arrival in Ponyville, Fluttershy thought Spike was the cutest dragon she had ever seen. Unfortunately, Fluttershy seemed to be ignoring Spike lately, causing him to worry that she didn't love him anymore. Fluttershy finds out about this. Feeling guilty, she invites him into her cottage for a little while to comfort and cheer him up. The only problem is the cheering up that Spike needs may go a little too far.
