The Need for Something New
Link swung his sword, aiming for the italian plumber. But the plumber put all of his years of jumping to good use and evaded the attack, causing Link to hit the blue hedgehog who was planning to spin dash through them both.
The plumber grabbed a Pokeball that was being dropped and threw it, releasing a Fennekin onto the field.
The Fennekin shot fire, burning the pink ball that was planning on sucking up Mega Man.
Link got out his bow and fired at Mega Man, who was busy trying to shoot Sonic, and caused the blue robot to miss his shot, and instead hitting Mario.
Sonic began preparing for another attempt at a spin dash towards Link, but was interrupted when Pikachu shocked him with lightning.
The announcer began counting down how many seconds were left in the match, causing the six fighters to fight with whatever strength they had left.
The announcer then finished counting, ending the match.
“And the winner is…..LINK!” He said.
Link made a victorious pose as the other contestants went back to their areas. There was the Mushroom Area, the Triforce Area, the Poke Area, the Metal Area, and so on for the rest of the competitors.
Link went to his home in the Triforce Area and laid down on his couch, completely exhausted from that last fight.
He sure did hate that plumber and hedgehog. But thankfully he did make allies with Kirby and Pikachu.
Link decided that it would be best to rest up in his bed. As he walked to his bed he looked out of his window and saw the giant tower that housed the GameMaster, the creator of Super Smash Tournament.
“The Super Smash Bros. Tournament housed the strongest warriors, ones that would fight until the very end.” The GameMaster said, pacing back and forth in his dark office. “And that’s what I intend to keep it as.”
“Yes sir.” The man who served as the announcer said. He had trouble keeping his contact on the GameMaster due to how dark the room was. It was lit, but barely enough.
“And we do have it that way.” The GameMaster said, pushing a button on his desk.
Then a giant monitor started to come down from the roof of the office.
“Look at these fighters.” He said, pushing a button on a remote.
The monitor turned on and showed video of a fight between Lucario, Zelda, Peach, and Captain Falcon.
"They are all the strongest in the land.” He said, watching the fight.
“Yes sir.” The announcer said. “But what’s the problem then?”
“I’ve started to become bored.” The GameMaster said, turning the monitor off.
“Bored, Sir?” The announcer said.
“Yes, bored.” The GameMaster walked to his giant window behind his desk, which overlooked the stadium, and leaned against it. “I am tired of seeing the same fighters fighting over and over again. I want something new. I want something fresh. Something...unexpected.”
The announcer was about to open his mouth to reply when the door suddenly swung open, showing two guards that were out of their breath. “Sir!” They said.
“What is it?” The GameMaster said, perking up a bit.
"We have found something.” One of them said, holding up a vhs tape.
“Well what are you waiting for!?” The GameMaster said. “Bring it in!”
The guards walked into the room and pushed a button on the GameMaster’s desk, opening up a slot on his desk.
"Uh, sir?” The announcer said. “What is this?”
“I told you, I’m bored.” The GameMaster said, pushing a button, making the giant monitor to move around the room so that it was above the doors. “So I sent these two to go and find me something new and fresh for Super Smash.”
The monitor came to life and revealed a colorful world to view. The video was focused on a group of what seemed to be horses, being surrounded by black creatures that took their form.
“What is this?” The GameMaster said. “Are you showing me the black creatures?”
“No sir.” One of the guards said. “Keep your eyes on the colorful ones.”
"Ha!” The GameMaster said. “Those things!? You must be jesting!”
"No sir.” The other guard said. “Just keep watching.” The GameMaster wiped a tear from his eye and kept watching, only to be awestruck at how the colorful creatures managed to, somehow, take down all of the duplicates.
The GameMaster stood up, rewinding the entire fight sequence and replaying it, walking closer and closer to the monitor.
"This. Is. Perfect!” He said. “Guards! I want you to get your finest men! The strongest! And I want you to go back to where you found these creatures and I want you to bring them here!”
“Sir, yes, sir!” The guards said.
The GameMaster sat back down on his chair, chuckling while watching the fight sequence on the monitor again and again.
"Sir? Are you sure you want these creatures in the Smash Tournament?” The announcer asked.
"Yes.” The GameMaster said, not looking away from the monitor. “I am absolutely sure.”
Rainbow Dash was just flying, nothing new was going on as of now. She still felt weird about Discord being ‘reformed,’ she didn’t trust him at all. So she kept her eye on Fluttershy’s cottage.
She looked up at the sun, still a couple of hours in the day. What was she going to do until nightfall? She could sleep. Yeah, that sounded good.
She looked around for the comfiest cloud she could find and fell on it, closing her eyes and sleeping.
She was then woken up by somepony yelling at the top of their lungs. She bolted up and looked around for whoever was responsible for that, finding Gilda the Griffon laughing hysterically.
“You!” Rainbow said.
“Ha! Ha! Totally worth it!” Gilda said, unable to control her laughter.
“What are you doing back here!?” Rainbow said.
“Oh calm down. It was just a prank. What? Are you not the brave, courageous, and fearless Rainbow Dash you keep saying you are?” Gilda said, finally able to breath.
Rainbow was going to open her mouth to answer, but shut it when she heard Pinkie Pie calling for her.
“Dashie!” The pink mare said, jumping up and down.
Rainbow looked down under her cloud at the pink mare. “What is it Pinkie Pie?”
"Come on! It’s time to go with Twilight to go visit Canterlot!” Pinkie said.
Rainbow then mentally slapped herself, she’d been looking forward to this trip all week. “Okay Pinkie! I’m coming down!” She said. Before she went down she looked behind her, seeing Gilda gone from where she was.
Rainbow then flew down and ran with Pinkie to the train station, seeing Twilight pacing back and forth.
“She’ll get here sugar cube, don’t worry.” Applejack said.
“But she better hurry!” Twilight said. “Or else we’re going to be late!”
Twilight stopped pacing when she heard Pinkie happily humming.
“Where were you!?” Twilight said. Rainbow opened her mouth but couldn’t answer when Twilight started pushing her. “Never mind that! Come on we’ve got to go, now!”
The train started going and Twilight sighed in relief. “We might just make it after all.”
On the train Rainbow looked around, everypony was here. Except for one, Discord.
“Uh, Fluttershy.” Rainbow said. “Where’s Discord? I thought he was coming with us.”
“I don’t know. I can’t find him anywhere.” Fluttershy said. “But Twilight shoved me out the door during my search so I couldn’t find him.”
"We’ll have to keep an eye out for him and anything he’ll try to pull.” Twilight said.
“Right.” Rainbow said, looking out the train window.
The train ride was slow, but Twilight was relieved when finding out they had gotten there in time.
Twilight ran through Canterlot, her friends struggling to catch up to her. Twilight was born in this city, she knows what she’s doing and where she’s going. But her friends needed her to help navigate throughout the city.
She made her way to the castle and ran past the guards and ran inside.
“Princess Celestia and Princess Luna!” Twilight said, bowing when entering the throne room.
“Twilight Sparkle! How great it is to-” Princess Celestia stopped when she noticed the other ponies behind her. “Wait.”
“What?” Twilight looked back and found what Princess Celestia was talking about, Pinkie Pie and Applejack were missing. She guessed that was why the trip was so quiet.
"Where are Pinkie Pie and Applejack? Did they not want to come?” Princess Luna said.
“What? Yes, they did. But I don’t know where they are.” Twilight said.
“This is strange.” Celestia said.
“I’m going to go look for them.” Rainbow said, flying out of the room.
Rainbow didn’t tell anypony else, but she had a feeling that Discord was behind this.
She flew all over Canterlot, she didn’t know exactly where she was going, but she had some idea of how to navigate through the city.
She took a sharp turn through an alley and flew through a cloud of purple.
She stopped and flew in one place, trying to cough out whatever she breathed in. Soon she felt dizzy, and started struggling to flap her wings.
Her whole body then went stiff and she fell onto a mattress underneath her.
As her eyes closed she could make out very large figures walking towards her, then everything went black.
"Go fish.” A voice said, causing Rainbow to wake from her sleep.
"Do you have any….3s?” A quiet voice, that could only be Fluttershy, said.
"Go fish.” The voice said again. Rainbow recognized the voice. Discord.
She opened her eyes and looked around, seeing they were all in a giant cave with bars at the opening. She looked to the opening and could faintly make out cheering.
She looked around and saw Twilight, Applejack, Fluttershy, Discord, Pinkie Pie, Gilda, Rarity, Princess Celestia, Princess Luna, and Trixie.
Twilight was shooting the bars with magical blasts, all of them failing. She turned after one of her attempts and saw Rainbow Dash was finally awake.
“Rainbow!” She said.
“Where are we?” Rainbow said.
She then looked back over to Discord. “But I think I know who put us here.” She thought.
She flew up and flew right towards Discord.
“Where are we!?” She said.
Discord didn’t move, he just continued playing ‘Go Fish’ with Fluttershy. “I don’t know.” He simply said. “And I surely didn’t put us here.”
"Well who did?” She said, not believing a word he says.
“I believe that would be me.” A voice said.
Everypony turned around and saw a tall figure in a suit standing behind the bars, standing next to him was another tall figure.
"Who are you?” Twilight said.
“I have a name, but I prefer to be called GameMaster.” He said.
"Well them, ‘GameMaster,’ where are we?” Celestia said.
“I was hoping you would ask that. Welcome!” He held out his arms. “To Super Smash Bros. Tournament!” “Super Smash Bros. Tournament?” Rainbow said.
“You can call it that.” The man next to GameMaster said. “You could also call it, Super Smash, Smash Bros, The Tournament, or just simply Smash.”
“Ah yes, this is my brother, Announcer.” GameMaster said.
“Well what do you want from us?” Trixie said. “Trixie cannot waste her time on silly things such as this!”
“‘Silly?’” GameMaster said, with shock in his voice. “Super Smash is not ‘silly.’ It is a tournament where only the strongest fighters come to show off what they can do.”
“So...It’s a fighting tournament?” Applejack said.
"Precisely!” Announcer said.
“And we have seen you all in action.” GameMaster said. “So I have instructed that you all are brought here, to show off your stuff to the other fighters.”
"What? We will not participate in your barbaric ritual!” Rarity said.
“Well, I don’t think you have much of a choice.” GameMaster said. “You can’t use your magic to get out of here. You can only use it to fight, Link helped us with that.”
"Now, get ready.” Announcer said. “A fight is coming up. And one of you will be there.”
GameMaster took the clipboard his brother had and read over it.
“Twilight Sparkle?” He said.
Twilight hesitantly walked forward. “Yes?” She said slowly.
“I hope you know good fighting spells.” GameMaster said.
“Why?” Twilight said.
GameMaster showed his brother the board and they both shared a good chuckle.
"Because you will be fighting first.” Announcer said.
“Twilight Sparkle vs. Lucario!” GameMaster announced, walking out of the cave with his arms in the air.
“Welcome ladies!” GameMaster yelled down the cave to the ponies. “To Super Smash Bros Tournament!”

“Look Twi we have to find a way out of here.” Rainbow said.
“I know Rainbow.” Twilight said.
Twilight had been pacing around for nearly two hours after GameMaster and Announcer left, trying to find some way to get out of there.
So far she had no luck, this cage was guarded with powerful magic that even she couldn’t break through. Whoever this ‘Link’ guy is can cast some powerful magic.
“Ladies!” A voice said.
Everypony turned to the entrance to see GameMaster walking down to them, arms out in the air. Rainbow saw him and flew right to the bars.
“Let us out of here!” She demanded.
“Yeah! You can’t trap us in here!” Gilda said, joining Rainbow Dash’s side.
“Well ladies, I think you might want to be a little nicer to your host.” He said.
“You ponynapped us!” Rainbow said.
“Yes, well anywho.” GameMaster got out a clipboard and wrote something down.
“Twilight Sparkle!” He said.
“What?” The purple mare said.
“Are you ready to fight?” GameMaster said, a grin growing on his face.
Twilight looked at him for a while, then walked the gate.
“Twilight!” Rarity said. “You can’t possibly be going along with his barbaric ritual!”
“It’s the only thing we can do.” Twilight said, still walking to the smiling open armed man.
“Let’s go dear, a challenger awaits.” He said, walking with Twilight to the outside of the cave.
“How could you do this to us?” Applejack said to Announcer. “Ponynapping all of us an forcing us to fight for yer own amusement!”
“How were we able to do this?” Announcer said, chuckling a bit at the end. “Well it’s quite simple.”
“How about explaining?” Rainbow said, punching her hoof into her other one.
“Well first we teleport you into a world of hate and war, then you’ll assault everyone you’ve ever known and loved before!” He said.
“I don’t think I want to do that.” Fluttershy said quietly, but not quiet enough for Announcer to miss.
“Oh come on, It’ll be bash. Now, grab all your little friends.” Announcer said, patting Twilight’s back.
“Cause it is time for us to mother fucking SMASH!” The brothers said in unison. The brothers clapped hands and laughed, obviously they were enjoying the things they were doing.
“Well, Twilight.” GameMaster said. “Are you ready to smash?”
“No.” She said.
“Well too bad!” Announcer said, with a joyful tone in his voice. “Now, now Mark. Let’s not frighten the poor thing.” GameMaster said.
“You guys already have.” Twilight thought.
Twilight followed the two brothers outside of the cave and was forced to squint her eyes when exiting the cave as the sun shone in her eyes. Once they had adjusted she opened them, seeing they were in a giant stadium. The stadium had a simple platform floating above the ground with three smaller ones floating above it. Twilight looked around, taking in the place. It wasn’t a normal stadium, as there were no seats for others to sit and watch. There were just giant walls that formed into a giant bowl stadium. Twilight wondered who would be watching this match other than the two brothers, then remembered that GameMaster said something about a ‘Link.’
“Well Twilight Sparkle, get ready to smash.” GameMaster said.
Then they heard a ‘thump’ of something landing behind them. They turned around to see a blue and black dog like creature standing behind them. It opened it’s eyes and started at Twilight, scoffing.
“Lucario!” GameMaster said. “Meet your next opponent, Twilight Sparkle.”
Lucario just started at her and nodded it’s head, jumping to the platform afterwards.
“Alright, don’t keep him waiting.” GameMaster said, walking away.
Twilight tried to use her magic to teleport to the platform, but was shocked, stopping her from doing it. Lucario jumped down and grabbed her, jumping back up.
Lucario set her down at the left end of the platform and walked to the right end. As he walked a song started playing. The song went on for two minutes before the GameMaster and the Announcer’s voices boomed over the stadium.
“Welcome new fighters!” GameMaster said. “To Super Smash Bros. Tournament! Twilight, I would like you to know that Lucario does not show mercy. And also know all of your friends are watching, ANYWHO! Lucario! I would like you to not hold anything back. Give her a proper Smash Bros. welcome.”
Lucario nodded at the GameMaster’s words and cracked it’s knuckles.
“Alright fighters!” The Announcer’s voice boomed. “3!” Lucario got into a fighting position. “2!” Twilight tried to get into a fighting position of her own. “1!”
Lucario ran to Twilight and jumped, coming back down punching the ground Twilight just ran away from. Twilight turned around and tried to shoot a magic blast at Lucario, only to be stopped by a blast Lucario shot from his hand. Lucario ran to Twilight and punched her, sending her into the air. Lucario jumped up and started to punch her repeatedly, until she flew off the stage and a large beam of energy left her. Apparently signifying she lost.
She reappeared on a hovering machine that brought her back to the platform. She jumped off and Lucario ran at her, stopping to shoot her with another ball of magic.
Twilight shot out a beam of magic from her horn. The ball of magic from Lucario hit the beam, stopping the ball and beam from going any further from where they were.
Twilight kept her focus on keeping the beam of magic on the ball, not seeing Lucario jumping above her with his fist pointed at her until the last second. Twilight felt the impact of something hitting her and felt her face connect with the concrete of the platform.
She lifted her head and was able to dodge the next punch Lucario threw at her.
Lucario backed up from the purple mare as she shot Lucario with streams of magic, firing as fast as she could muster so Lucario wouldn’t get the chance to fight back.
“Oh! Lucario’s life percentage is going up FAST GameMaster!” She heard Announcer’s voice boom over the stadium, shaking her a bit, but not enough to distract her from her current opponent.
“I see Announcer!” GameMaster said. “Do you think it’s possible that this prissy little pony could beat one of the strongest fighters Smash has to offer?”
“I don’t know, but MAN am I on the edge of my seat!” Announcer said, his excitement obviously uncontainable.
Twilight kept shooting Lucario, not wanting it to get the chance to attack her back. Lucario tried jumping, but was stopped each time by the constant barrage of streams of magic emerging from the unicorn’s horn.
Lucario could feel his life percent going up fast, and found he didn’t have any chance of escaping now that his life percent was this high.
Lucario closed his eyes and accepted the defeat as Twilight shot one last beam of magic, sending Lucario flying off of the stage and bursting into a pillar of energy, signifying his utter and humiliating defeat.
“I did it!” She said.
She turned around to face Lucario as he was brought back. She had a new face of confidence, an extra kick in her step now that she knew she could have a chance at defeating Lucario. If she did it once, she could do it again.
Lucario jumped off the platform and they heard Announcer counting down from three.
When Announcer said one the two found themselves unable to move. Twilight tried with all her might to move, but found her unable to, despite her best efforts. Lucario just relaxed itself.
“Sudden death!” Announcer said as Twilight and Lucario were brought to opposite ends of the platform.
“Sudden death?” Twilight said. “What does that mean?”
Lucario just smiled a menacing smile and ran at the mare, stopping mere inches in front of her and shooting her with a ball of magic that sent her flying to her defeat.
Twilight woke up to find herself back in the cave, surrounded by her friends.
“What? What happened?” She asked, trying to get up.
“Now, now there sugarcube.” Applejack said. “That Lucario fellow hurt you bad. You might want to take it easy for a bit.”
“But did you see yourself?” Rainbow said. “You kept shooting, and shooting, and shooting, and it just couldn’t move! Awesome!”
“It was pretty awesome.” Gilda said. “Even for a prissy pony like you.”
“I must say that the way you fought off this ‘Lucario’ certainly was remarkable.” Celestia added.
“It surely was something incredible.” Luna said. “You’re powers were doubled!”
Twilight opened her mouth to speak, but hear Announcer and GameMaster’s voices coming from the other side of the cave, shutting her up quick.
“And did you see Lucario when he just shot her out into the End Point?” GameMaster said. “It was AWESOME!”
“And did you see the way Twilight just kept shooting Lucario like there was no tomorrow?” Announcer added. “It was amazing!”
“What do you guys want?” Twilight said, seeing the two brothers walking in. “I already fought your stupid fight, now just let us go.”
“I’m sorry, but one fight isn’t enough to impress us.” Announcer said.
“Yeah. We have stronger fighters.” GameMaster said. “Luigi, Charizard, Pac-Man, Kirby, Link, that weird blue robot kid that no one likes, a lot of them.”
“So what?” Celestia said. “Will you force us to fight all of them?”
The brothers looked at each other, then the opposite directions. Their faces looking in deep thought.
“Well……..… Uh……… Ye-Yeah.” The brothers eventually said. “Yeah, we will.”
“Barbaric!” Rarity said.
“Oh, I wouldn’t think such things Miss Rarity.” Announcer said.
“Why?” Rarity said.
GameMaster gave his brother a confused look. Announcer showed his brother the clipboard he held and GameMaster read it, barely able to hold back his laughing.
“Well, Miss Rarity.” GameMaster said. “I hope you know some good fighting spells.”
“Why?” She said, confused.
“Because next match is.”
“Rarity vs. Princess Zelda!” The brothers said in unison.
“You better get ready Rarity!” Announcer said. “Because Zelda might be a princess, but she knows how to fight! You’re match begins in two hours, so you better get ready.”
The brothers left, chatting up how excited they were to see Rarity and Zelda fight.
Rarity turned around, a look of shock and fear on her face.
“Oh no.” She said, passing out.
Super Smash Bros. Equestrian Brawl
Rarity woke up, her friends crowded around her to make sure the fashionista was alright.
“What happened?” She said, shaking her head.
“You passed out after the brothers announced you were going to fight somepony named ‘Zelda.’” Twilight said.
“What?” Rarity got up, slowly remembering the situation they were all in. “I most certainly will not!”
“It’s the only thing we can do.” Twilight said. “The brothers said that this Link guy used magic to stop us from escaping, so all we can do is fight.”
Rarity gulped as Twilight told her about what she should try during her fight with Zelda. Meanwhile the brothers were talking about an expansion.
“More fighters?” Announcer said.
“Yes!” GameMaster has just finished rewatching the footage from Twilight’s fight with Lucario for the 5th time. “If these creatures that we have now can fight, then certainly the rest can too.”
“Alright brother, I’ll go call some more guards.” Announcer walked to the door, only to be stopped by his brothers words.
“No. I want you to go with the guards.” GameMaster said. “Go give them a proper Super Smash Bros welcome.” GameMaster rewinded the footage and watched it again in amazement.
It was a beautiful day in Equestria and the whole town was excited. There was a picnic and the whole entire town was invited!
Lyra looked around, seeing her friends enjoy themselves on apple cider, pies that the Cakes baked, and many other treats.
Lyra stood up, announcing to her friends she wanted to say something.
“Listen everypony.” She said. “I love you guys, you’re my best friends in the world and you make me glad to be alive!” Lyra let out a warm smile before she was interrupted by a tall creature.
“Excuse me, hi there. I’m the announcer for a fun new family game, It’s called Super Smash Brothers!” The creature said. The creature was tall, straight hair that pointed straight forward it also had a large bow tie above it’s light purple jacket that matched it’s light purple pants.
Lyra was intrigued by what this creature had said. “That sounds fun, how do we play?”
“Well first I’m going warp you into a world of hate and war, where you’ll assault everyone you have ever known and loved before.” The creature said.
“I don’t think I want to do that.” Lyra said.
“Oh come on, it’ll be a bash.” The creature made a snap sound with the tiny arms it had on it’s strange hooves and many more strange creatures came out from behind bushes and from the tops of trees. Lyra began wondering how long they had been there. “Now grab all your little friends cause it is time for us to mother fucking SMASH!”
The creatures surrounded the ponies, reaching behind them for a long tube they had. The creatures aimed at the ponies and waited for the first creature’s signal.
“What are you doing?” Lyra said.
“Why are you doing this?” Bon Bon said.
“Well, we have some of your friends.” The creature named off the friends they had, raising one of it’s tiny arms with each stolen friend it named off. “We have Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, Discord, Gilda, Celestia, Luna, Rarity, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, and Trixie.”
“You ponynapped mah sister?” Apple Bloom said.
“Well, I guess you could say that.” The creature said, looking over the crowd before it. “But don’t worry little thing, you’ll see her soon.”
The creature whistled and the others used the weapons they had, shooting out a gas at the ponies.
Lyra fought unsuccessfully to stay awake. Before she closed her eyes she saw the first creature walk to her, putting on a mask. The creature leaned down to her and said something before she fell unconscious.
“Get ready to Smash.”
Rarity gulped as she was taken to the place that would serve to be her battlefield against this Zelda.
She stepped off the platform and was greeted to a tall creature with pointy ears and clothes that had to be royal. Rarity took the guess that this was Zelda, her opponent.
“Why, hello there.” Rarity said. “My name is Rarity, I’m guessing that you’re Zelda?”
Zelda looked at Rarity and nodded her head.
“I’m guessing that we’re going to have to fight now?” Rarity said.
Zelda nodded again and walked to the other end of the platform.
“I was afraid of that.” Rarity muttered.
When Zelda arrived to the other end of the platform she turned around, getting herself into a fighting position. She had seen Lucario’s fight with another one of the prissy ponies, she now knew it wouldn’t be wise to let her guard down.
“Hello, fighters!” GameMaster said. “I’m very sorry to say that my brother can’t be here for this match, which is why I’ll be recording it.”
“What is he doing?” Rarity asked.
“He’s……. Going to get some new friends.” GameMaster said, chuckling. “Oh don’t worry Ms. Rarity, everything will be alright.”
“What does that mean?” Rarity asked.
“Uh, oh look at the time! It’s time to SMASH!!” GameMaster said as a bell rang.
Zelda ran towards Rarity, stopping right in front of her and holding her hand back. In Zelda’s hand a purple vortex appeared, seemingly charging itself. Zelda waved her hand forward, Rarity flinching at the thought she’d be slapped, but that wasn’t the case.
Rarity opened her eyes for a split second before she was sent back by the force of being slapped back from a large knight’s sword.
Rarity got back up and stared wide-eyed at Zelda, shocked by what had just happened. Rarity’s mind then went to what Twilight had told her if she wanted to win the fight.
Rarity stood her ground and shot a magic beam, Zelda dodging it with no effort. Rarity tried her best to mimic what she saw Twilight do during her battle with Lucario, shooting a never-ending stream of magic at her opponent.
But, as much as Rarity may try, Zelda found herself always able to dodge her beams with no effort at all, leading Rarity to have to find some other method.
Zelda disappeared, reappearing in front of Rarity and kicking her back, almost sending the fashionista turned fighter off the stadium. But Rarity grabbed onto the sides, holding on for her dear life.
Zelda walked over to Rarity and put her foot on the fashionista’s face, kicking her down afterwards.
Rarity looked down as she fell, knowing that she’d lose a life if she fell. Rarity tried to use a teleportation spell. Then the thought of Twilight being shocked went through her mind as she did, but it was too late. Rarity had already used the spell and found herself above the platform, falling down to Zelda.
Rarity took a moment as she fell to take a grasp of what exactly happened, then focusing on Zelda.
She looked down at Zelda, who hadn’t noticed Rarity’s teleportation, and shot her with a beam of magic which took her by complete surprise.
Zelda was in a daze while Rarity landed on her feet, oddly not taking any damage from the fall, and shooting her again with a beam of magic.
Zelda turned towards Rarity, but Rarity used her teleportation magic and appeared behind Zelda, doing her best to copy Applejack’s bucking technique, using it to buck Zelda in the back. Zelda was sent flying towards the other end of the stadium as Rarity teleported to where she was headed, shooting her with a shot of magic as powerful as she could muster.
Zelda was sent flying off the stadium, disappearing into a blast of energy that signified her loss.
Rarity jumped up in joy.
“I…. I did it!” She said. “I really did it!” She was overjoyed that she was able to knock Zelda off the platform, now she just needed to either do it again, or just dodge her attacks for the next 30 seconds there were left in the fight.
Rarity didn’t agree with the brother’s tournament, but she knew that if she and her friends were to ever get out of there it would be by going along with it for as long as they could.
“WOAH!!” GameMaster’s voice boomed over the stadium. “THAT WAS INCREDIBLE!!! OH MY GOD! I’VE DEFINITELY GOT TO SHOW MARK THAT WHEN HE GETS BACK!!”
Rarity didn’t agree that she was getting praise for beating someone else senseless, but she found herself flattered by the compliment.
Zelda appeared again, doing her best to try and knock Rarity off the stadium, calling a Sudden Death, but the fashionista just found her rhythm for dodging Zelda’s spells.
Zelda tried and tried, each of her attempts failing. Eventually they heard GameMaster’s voice count down and hit zero, ending the fight.
Rarity felt joy run through her as she made her way back to her friends.
“Rarity!” Rainbow Dash said. “You were AWESOME out there!”
“That was amazing!” Applejack added.
“Yes, yes, she was.” GameMaster’s voice said from the entrance of the cave.
They all turned to GameMaster, seeing his brother Announcer following him.
“And I don’t mean that sarcastically Rarity, I mean it. That was the most amazing fight I’ve seen Zelda fight in a long time.” GameMaster added.
“But, let’s see how the rest of you can hold against Rarity.” Announcer added, taking out a clipboard.
He read over the clipboard. “Fluttershy?” He said, GameMaster chuckling as he did.
“Y-Yes?” The timid pegasus said.
“You like animals, right?” GameMaster said.
“Why yes, I do.” Fluttershy said.
The brothers looked at each other and smiled that same devilish smile they had almost every time they saw them.
“Well then.” GameMaster said, his devilish smile growing wider. “I think you’ll just love Pikachu.”
Super Smash Bros. Equestrian Brawl
Fluttershy followed the brothers out of the cave, the light from the sun forcing her to cover her eyes.
She looked around, seeing the platform that her friends had fought on, and quickly realized she’d have to fight too.
The brothers mentioned an animal named Pikachu, Fluttershy wondered what this new animal looked like. Fluttershy’s question was soon answered as a cute little yellow mouse creature landed right in front of them.
“Pika Pi!” The mouse said.
Fluttershy gasped at the adorable creature. “It’s soooo cute!” She grabbed Pikachu and pulled it in for a hug. “How could I fight an adorable, defenseless creature such as yourself?”
Fluttershy put Pikachu down as GameMaster chuckled. “What’s so funny?” Fluttershy asked.
“Nothing. But just remember one little thing.” GameMaster said.
“What’s that?” Fluttershy asked.
“Pikachu’s way less fucking cute when he’s trying to electrocute you.” GameMaster said as a large grin grew on his face.
“Electrocute?” Fluttershy looked back to Pikachu, who now had electricity coming out of the red circles on his cheeks. “Oh…… My.”
“Pikachu! Fluttershy! Get ready to Smash!” Announcer said.
Fluttershy and Pikachu were taken to the platform, which then rose up several feet off the ground.
Pikachu ran to the opposite end of the platform from Fluttershy and turned around, electricity appearing around him and his face full of confidence.
“Now, I probably should have told you all this before Twilight’s fight, but you all do have some of your abilities from back in your homeland.” Announcer’s voice boomed over the stadium, causing Fluttershy to jump. “But they’ve been…… Forcefully modified.” He gave off a little chuckle that sent chills up Fluttershy’s spine.
“It wasn’t easy.” GameMaster added. “But, Link and Zelda eventually got it done.”
“Anyways, now’s not the time for that.” Announcer said. “Now’s the time to SMASH!”
Fluttershy jumped at Announcer’s screaming and turned back towards Pikachu, who had more lightning emerging from his cheeks.
“Three! Two! One! GO!” Announcer said.
Pikachu ran towards Fluttershy and seemed to disappear. Fluttershy looked around for the adorable mouse creature, only for her to be flung back from an impact behind her.
She flew forward, landing on her face.
She got up and turned around, seeing the yellow mouse surrounded by electricity, a chain of it going right to her. Fluttershy jumped up, dodging the attack. She figured that maybe she could dodge the creature’s attacks, hoping that maybe the match would end in a tie.
“Alright, this is boring. Fluttershy isn’t even trying to attack.” GameMaster said.
“I know, I know. What are we going to do about it?” Announcer said.
“Hm……. Give them items.” GameMaster said, chuckling.
Fluttershy knew that whatever the brothers had planned couldn’t be good.
Her suspicions were proven when a giant hammer fell from the sky, and into Pikachu’s tiny adorable hands.
Pikachu then went into a wild hammering spree, slamming it onto the ground, and right onto Fluttershy. She was sent back, flying off the stadium. A beam of energy appeared, signifying her loss.
Fluttershy was hovered down on a device, only to look down and see the yellow mouse angrily glare at her with electricity emerging from it’s cheeks.
Fluttershy decided to just jump off the stage and run, or to use the Stare on the yellow creature.
She gulped and lept off the platform, landing next to the yellow Pikachu, who prepared to shoot a thunder bolt at her. It would have hit, had Fluttershy not used the Stare already.
Now, now, now,” Fluttershy said, “Is that any way to treat somepony? To hurt them? You ought to be ashamed of yourself!”
Pikachu stared at Fluttershy as she continued to scold him. Pikachu decided enough was enough and rolled his eyes, shooting a beam of electricity at the distracted yellow mare.
Fluttershy felt the bolt hit her and she was instantly thrown back, almost off the stage completely had she not jumped back on.
As soon as she landed she jumped back up as Pikachu bolted towards her faster than she could see.
“5!” A voice boomed, continuing to count down until the voice reached 0.
Fluttershy landed next to Pikachu and braced herself to get hit again, but found Pikachu rolling on it’s back and making cute noises.
“And the winner is.... PIKACHU!!!” Announcer’s voice boomed.
Fluttershy watched Pikachu leave the stage and she was escorted by Gamemaster as he told her that in her next fight she should at least TRY to hit her opponent.
Fluttershy held her head low as she reentered the cage her friends were in and they heard Announcer running inside, panting as he looked over a clipboard he held in his hands and grinned. He sounded like he was on the verge of laughing.
“Brother,” Gamemaster said upon hearing his brother’s frantic breathing and laughter, “What’s the matchup?”
“The next fight is,” Announcer grinned, looking towards a cyan mare who was talking to an orange mare, probably discussing how they would escape, “Rainbow Dash and Applejack vs. Sonic and Mario!”
“What?” Rainbow Dash said upon hearing her name being said.
“Now wait just a minute!” Applejack joined in.
“Now come on! This is going to be awesome!!!” Announcer said.
“Equestria’s fastest flyer versus the world’s fastest hedgehog,” Gamemaster said, “I’m voting on Sonic and Mario!!”
“Equestria’s best apple bucker (whatever that is) and athlete, versus the world’s... Best... Uh... Jumper and brick smasher,” Announcer said, “Eh, I’m gonna give the ponies the benefit of the doubt. I’m voting on the Rainbow and the Orange.”
“Apple.” Gamemaster said.
“What?” Announcer responded.
“Apples. Her name is Applejack.” Gamemaster said.
“Really? But she’s orange ,” Announcer said, “The rest of her family is the color of apples, so them I get, but her!?”
“I know, they all confuse me too.” Gamemaster said, waving them off and turning to leave.
“And what was that creepy staring thing the yellow one with wings tried to do,” Announcer said, turning to follow his brother, “It didn’t help her at all!”
“I don’t know brother. But as long as Link’s spell is in effect they can’t use their... gifts... to get out.” Gamemaster said.
“Well you better double guess that! Because we will get out!” Rainbow Dash said, flying to the bars and giving the brothers a death stare.
“Well you better get to training.” Announcer said.
“They don’t call Sonic the Hedgehog the ‘Blue Blur’ for nothing.” Gamemaster said as he left the cave.
