Darkwings

Fluttershy was woken up by the familiar feeling of rabbit feet jumping up and down on her dreary body. The yellow pegasus yawned and smiled at her cute pet bunny. "Just five more minutes, Angel," Flutters said as she turned over and closed her eyes, trying to fall back asleep. Angel's hopping became more intense as he squeaked at his owner. The pony turned to see Angel hopping on her once again this time pointing at the opposite wall towards her calendar. She paused for a second to process what Angel was pointing at and said, "Angel, grooming day is not til tomorrow. Now please, just let me sleep a little longer." Fluttershy turned back around trying to sleep again. Angel buried his face in his hands out of frustration, then grabbed Fluttershy by the mane and turned her head once more to look at the calendar. He then hopped over to it and pointed to the current day, which was circled many times and decorated with stickers and cute drawings of various animals. The mare sleepily looked at the date trying to decipher it's meaning for a few seconds before it all finally clicked.

The yellow pony gasped. "The animal sanctuary!" she exclaimed excitedly. She darted out of bed flying sporadically  throughout her cottage, picking up Angel for her second lap around the house and almost causing him to get sick from the speed. When she came to a stop, she gave Angel a big hug as she said, "Oh, Angel! I've been waiting for the day when the animal sanctuary opens in Fillydelphia for months and it's finally here!" She let go of Angel and gave a big smile accompanied by a squee. When Angel's feet were finally back down on the ground, he pointed to the clock next to the calendar. Fluttershy saw the time and gasped again, this time though it wasn't out of joy. "Oh my goodness!" She said with worry, "The train to Fillydelphia leaves in 15 minutes!" Fluttershy suddenly sprang to action, frantically flying around the house to gather everything she needed for her trip to the much-anticipated Fillydelphia Animal Sanctuary.

Fluttershy's pony friends were told of her plan numerous times over the course of the past 6 months, due to Flutters being so immensely excited to make new friends with the animals of Fillydelphia. She had never been to Fillydelphia before, so to see what kind of wonderful creatures lived there was an opportunity she did not want to miss out on. At first, when Rarity told Flutters that Fillydelphia was a large city, she was intimidated and almost changed her mind about the vacation. Pinkie Pie, however, told Fluttershy that her family's rock farm was in Fillydelphia and that it isn't as crowded as somewhere like Manehattan or Canterlot. This eased the pegasus's worries and she decided that she was going to take this trip alone. She had given her friends the information of where she was staying while in Fillydelphia and if they needed to reach her they could always call the hotel.

With 7 minutes to reach the train station, Fluttershy grabbed Angel and rushed out the door. There was one stop she needed to make before she reached the station: Twilight's castle. Twilight had agreed to watch after Angel while Flutters was away in Fillydelphia since the hotel Flutters was staying at didn't allow pets. The yellow mare swooped down, bunny in her hooves, and knocked repeatedly at the front door. Twilight Sparkle opened the door but before she could even say hello to her timid friend, the pony held her bunny out for Twilight to grab with her magic. Twilight's aura surrounded the bunny and suddenly Flutters was gone. The purple alicorn gently set the pet down and stared at him for a few seconds as he stared back. Suddenly Twilight remembered the pet-sitting duty she had promised to Fluttershy. "Today's the day the animal sanctuary in Fillydelphia opens, isn't it?" Twilight asked Angel. Angel nodded. "And I'm stuck with you for 3 days, aren't I?" The bunny nodded once more.  Twilight sighed in lament for taking on this responsibility, unaware when she offered her services that she would go off on a learning binge and get caught up in a fascinating book about the reactiveness of various chemicals in their various states of matter. Twilight's eyes darted between her book and the pet bunny when, suddenly, an idea sparked. Twilight's magic aura surrounded a drawer in her study desk and opened it. She took a large stack of blank index cards and dropped them on Angel. "You can help me make flash cards and then quiz me on what I've learned!" Angel frowned in frustration.

Meanwhile, Fluttershy raced to the train station. On her way, a fluffy white cloud started following her. "You're just leaving without saying goodbye? How rude. I thought we were friends." a familiar voice said to the pony. Two yellow eyes with red pupils appeared on the cloud as it kept up with the pegasus. "Oh, I'm sorry Discord. I was in a rush and forgot to visit you," Fluttershy said apologetically. At the sound of a snap, the cloud transformed into Fluttershy's faithful draconequus friend, Discord. Discord crossed his arms and turned away from the mare as he floated alongside her in anger. "I still don't see why I can't join you on this little vacation of yours," he said. The draconequus snapped his fingers yet again and was suddenly wearing Fillydelphia tourist apparel including a hat, shirt, camera, backpack, foam finger and shopping bag. Discord  snapped a picture with his camera and said, "I've always wanted to see Fillydelphia for myself! I've only ever caused chaos there from afar!" "We both know what you'd do if you came along. You'd cause chaos everywhere and I'd get stuck apologizing for your behavior for the entire trip," Fluttershy said with judging eyes locked on Discord. The draconequus snapped his fingers again to revert to his normal self and said, "Well! I never! No trust in her old pal Discord. Fluttershy, When are you going to learn to trust me not to cause a scene?" "When you learn how to use your magic for something other than causing widespread panic!" Fluttershy announced to her friend. Discord, knowing he was defeated, shrugged and said "You've got me there, friend." Discord snapped his fingers and next thing Fluttershy knew, they were both at the train station.

"All aboard for Fillydelphia!" the conductor shouted. "You got me here just in time, Discord! Thank you! I don't know if I would have made it in time without your help!" Fluttershy exclaimed and hugged Discord. "What are friends for?" Discord said as he hugged the pony back. Fluttershy dragged her luggage aboard and found her seat. Right before the train started moving she found a window overlooking the platform to see Discord standing there, tears in his eyes, as he waved goodbye to his only friend. Fluttershy smiled and waved back as the train crept forward, then began picking up speed. As Fluttershy's train crested the hill and appeared out of sight, Discord got an uneasy feeling in his gut. His intuition said that something terrible was about to happen. Upon reconsidering though, he just chalked it up to worrying about his timid friend on a big trip all by herself and reassured himself that Fluttershy would be fine. With a snap of his fingers, Discord disappeared from the train station, anxious for the return of his yellow pegasus friend.
