History Hurts

Discord was in his thinking tree.

He was wondering how everything got like this, first he made friends, well a friend. Then he betrayed them, then he was forgiven...again. He didn't know why the ponies forgave him but he didn't question it, he was thankful. But while he was thinking this a new thought came to mind,

'I haven't seen Fluttershy since the incident.' He thought to himself.

He had denied the feelings he had for her a long time ago but they just keep on coming back. He can't get rid of them, every time he would see a butterfly he would always think of Fluttershy. But even though they are the best of friends and they are pen pals, he hasn't seen her or gotten a letter from her.

'Maybe she still doesn't forgive me-no she said she did! Well maybe she found out on my feelings and this is the way she tries to say no?' He thought.

At the thought of this Discord's face darkened, but why should he feel this way? He didn't know for sure. From this his face brightened just a little.

Discord was growing bored so he made a bunny into a chocolate covered one, it screamed and ran off as Discord's laughter grew louder each second, but that laughter stopped when he heard a familiar voice call to him.

"Discord...?"

Fluttershy knew where Discord's house was but never really visited. The house was in the Ever Free Forest. Sure she was scared but she needed to see him, but she didn't know where this bravery came from.

As she walked the pathway she noticed all the different plants and herbs, 'they're really beautiful!' She thought. She began to smile, but she hadn't really smiled like this in a week. For once this week she felt peaceful. But the pathway ended and she arrived at Discord's house, well it isn't really a house, it has a force field around it and it's invisible, but she was really the only one to be allowed in. If you aren't allowed in well... Fluttershy couldn't think of the things that could happen.

But she knew he only used his invisible house to take cover from storms or to sleep. Fluttershy knew where he was usually, his thinking tree. She walked to it and sure enough Discord was sprawled out on a branch, he looked very focused.

Fluttershy watched as Discord's face darken at a thought she did not know of, but then watched as it brightened somewhat. She felt kinda awkward just standing there watching him so she began to speak.

"Discord...?" She called out.

Discord turned his head to she the pony he was just thinking about.

As he smiled he said, "My dear! What brings you here? Oh I rhymed!" Discord said excited at the last part.

Fluttershy smiled at this and continued, "Well I felt like I needed to see you."

"Well ain't that sweet?" Discord said in a country voice.

Fluttershy giggled at this, she never could figure out why Discord could always make her smile. He just had that affect on her.

"Discord? Do you ever feel useless?" Fluttershy said in a serious tone as she walked to the trunk of the tree and sat down, "Like you feel like you disappoint every pony?" She continued looking up at Discord as he looked down at her from his branch.

He teleported down and and sat next to her.

"Yes my dear Fluttershy, I have." He said almost in a whisper.

Fluttershy now had tears in her eyes. Discord didn't know what made him do it but be put his talon to her cheek and used his paw to wipe away her tears. Fluttershy was surprised at his gentle touch but thought nothing of it, she simply sighed and rested her head against his talon.

"Why do you ask?" He finally asked her, he slipped away and put his back against the tree trunk.

"I don't know..." She lied.

Discord knew when she lied, before she told a lie her hooves would twitch and she would blink five times. When he saw her do this he didn't ask why she was lying, he presumed that she had her reasons and that he shouldn't push her to do something she wasn't comfortable doing.

Fluttershy looked up at Discord and started sobbing, she didn't know why. She was just emotional right now and needed to tell some pony, even though she wanted to tell Discord she decided to tell Rainbow Dash first, for she knew what happened too.

Discord was shocked, he didn't know what to do when a mare cried. So he simply patted her head awkwardly.

"I'm s-sorry D-discord, I-I need to g-go." Fluttershy finally said as she started to run away.

Discord was more than confused but he was more concerned than confused. But he knew she must've had her reasons and shook off the feeling of sadness of seeing his beloved cry. So he left her alone.

But deep down he knew something was happening. Something Dark.
