The Man with the Hidden Past

Author's note: I actually cut this in half. And don;t get used to these long chapters. I think of the story On-The-Spot, I do consider what people say for it though. If any of you guys have any suggestions -that isn't get an editor, I already have one.- just putit on the comment section or just PM me.

"Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck!!" I yelled as I ran. I turned my head to look behind me and noticed she was barly breaking a jog to keep up with me.

"Getting tired already?" She teased?

"Nope. I'm just getting warmed up!" I yelled, as I remembered my wings.

"And if this is like what it is in my world, you better hope you have some earplugs." I yelled back. And with that, I took off with a large boom following me. I turned around to see if she was following me and all I saw was a pitch black line with red waves going through it. I turned on my back to see her and she was left behind quite a ways.

"Ah ha! I'm faster than Celestia!! Whoo!!" I yelled.

I noticed Ponyville in the distance and flew over there to see if I could find a place to hide.

"Yo Twilight, you there?" I thought.

"What? Who is this? And how are you talking to me." I heard.

"Don't you remember wanting to be in my head?"

"Oh yeah! I can't remember much after that though."

"Good. I almost killed you with knowledge of my world."

"Really?"

"Did I give you a reason for me to lie about it?"

"No..."

"There ya go. Listen, Celestia is looking for me and I need a place to hide. Any suggestions? Wait. Don't tell me yet. Celestia is still in my head I think. By the way, do you know how to kick someone out of my head?"

"Um... No, maybe you should just try some things."

"Like?"

"If I knew I would tell you."

"I see that I'm rubbing off on someone."

"What? No way I'd be like you."

"Yep. More like me by the minute."

I didn't hear her after that. So I quickly flew over to her house and ended up knocking down the door on the way in.

"Sorry about that. Its kinda hard to stop when you break the sound barrier." I said.

"You broke the sound barrier?" Twilight asked.

"Yeah. Didn't you hear that boom a couple seconds ago?"

"No. Why?"

-BOOM-

"Oh. Looky there. There's that boom I was talking about."

Twilight stood there, If her jaw could unhinge I swear it would be on the floor.

"Y-you went faster than sound?! How?!" Twilight asked.

"Uh... How the fuck should I know? All I did was do it. I don't know how I did it. But if you want to know what I know, here ya go. I was running, Then I broke the sound barrier, then I came here. Now you know what I know." I said.

"That, doesn't help much..." Twilight commented.

"To bad. Deal with it. So, back to what we where talking about back there, where can I hide?"

"What about Fluttershy's place? You can easily get to the forest and I'm pretty sure Fluttershy took a liking to you."

"Fuck. How could she like me? I'm a human, and she's a what ever she is. Even if we did start to date, it just wouldn't work. Great. Now I have to act oblivious to her feelings." I thought.

"I can still hear you, you know." she said.

"Well then stop listening. This doesn't concern you."

"And what if I don't?"

"I'll have to break my promise with Celestia and make you go insane."

"Oh really?"

"You want me to prove it don't you."

"Yes."

"Ugh. Fine." I said, forcing a flash back into my mind.

I was in the battlefeild. I was on top of a hill with my knife, my rifle, and the bodies of my dead Brothers in Arms. I had to make a makeshift wall out of my brother's bodies to keep out the cold air, and to protect be from any bullets. Then, I heard footsteps, I instinctivly grabbed my knife, and peeked over the wall. There, stood about 15 enemy troops searching for me and my brothers, but all that was left was me. I quickly knock over some bodies on top of me to hide me as I waited for the troops to get closer, so I could quickly kill them with my knife. I knew it was crazy, but then again. I was fighting for my country, and If I could just kill one of those soldiers, I could save lives.

Once they where all within 5 to 10 feet away, I threw the body on top of me at them. I then charged. I ran up to the first one and snapped his neck while making my way to the next. I quickly threw my knife into his face and before he could fall, I ripped it out. I ran up to the third one then, and used him as a meat sheild from the other enemy's fire. I then took his own gun and shot 3 other's heads off. I then sunk my knife into his spine and ripped it out, knowing he was paralized from the waist down and would bleed to death. I threw his gun then at a fourth enemy hearing a sickening crack at the force from it fractured his skull. I ran over to the body and found a single frag grenade. I ran over to a fifth enemy and cut open his stomach with my knife, ripped the pin out of the grenade and shoved the grenade as far as I could get it into the man. I then proceeded to push the man into the rest of the enemies. They all where ripped apart from the explosion but 2. I cut behind the knees of both of them so they couldnt run, I then made them skin their comrades. I used the skin to make a simple tent and used the bones to make supplies like knives, clubs, and supports for the tent. After the two where done skinning their comerades, I simply ripped out their eyes with my hands and left them there.

"It took two months for help to arrive and get me out of there Twilight. And I hope your happy with your results. You have now been scarred by what you saw. You also think I'm a monster. And if that is what you want me to be then so be it. But unless you attack me, I will not put up a fight. You can tell that to Celestia too. I know your her student. Now. If you'll excuse me. I'm gonna go pay Fluttershy a visit." And with that, I walked out of the tree, and flew off with a large boom after me. Breaking all the windows in Twilight's house.

Twilight was shocked out of her trance from the boom.

"That, that was horrible. How can he do such things?" Twilight asked to herself.

Then suddenly Rainbow Dash burst into the library.

"Hey! Did you hear that really big boom? What was that?"

"That was the sound barrier being broken Rainbow."

"By who?" she asked.

"I don't really know. He never told us his name yet."

"That... um..." Rainbow started.

"Human." Twilight finished.

"Yeah, that. So he broke the sound barrier?"

"Yeah. Hey, do you think he's kinda, mean?" Twilight asked.

"Well, yeah! He's always being a jerk to everypony. But for some reason, I kinda like him." Rainbow said with a blush.

"You not serious, are you Rainbow?"

"Well... yeah. Of course I am. But I can't tell why." Rainbow said, still blushing.

"Well I, for one, don't really like him. He seems evil."

"Evil? Nah, that's just the way he is."

"But why is what I'm asking."

"How would I know? You should go ask him if your curious."

"What? No! He's way to scary."

"Ha! He isn't scary. Why would you think that?"

"He has that knife, and that one thing that makes a loud sound. Plus those wings make him look even scarier."

"He has wings?! Why didn't you tell me before! I'm gonna go challenge him to a race, Bye!" Rainbow Dash said before she bolted out the door. She saw him heading over to Fluttershy's place with a black trail with red lines following behind.

"Why would he go over there?" She wondered.

She decided to try and be sneaky and fly up to the window to peak in. The room was empty but she could hear me talking with Fluttershy.

"Listen, Celestia is after me and I need a place to hide. Twilight said that this would be good considering how the forest is nearby."

Rainbow could hear some mumbleing after that.

"Perfect. I'm going to go to the forest and retreive some stuff. Anything I should know about before I go?"

Rainbow could hear some more mumbleing and then heard the door open and close. She quickly flew over to a buch and hid in it. Then, suddenly, a loud bang went off and a patch of grass in front of her face disappeared.

"I don't like eavesdroppers you know."

Rainbow slowly flew out of the bush and saw that I was standing there, rifle in hand, aiming right at her head. Once I noticed it was Rinbow, I lowered the gun.

"Your lucky I don't shoot and ask questions later. That shot right there was a simple warning."

"THAT WAS A WARNING? WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF YOU HAD GOTTEN ME?!" Rainbow screemed.

"Simple. You would have died. And then I would use your hide as a source of clothing and use the feathers on your wings for a pillow. Plus I would have gotten some food out of it."

"Food? You mean your a..." She said, backing up slightly.

"Omnivore? Yes. Yes I am. But remember, I would always prefer a steak." I said, finishing her sentence.

"Now then, You distracted me from what I was doing. I will see you later." I said as I walked off. I quick threw a wave over my shoulder when I entered the forest.

"Now then, I gotta find my bag. I need some cloths and some food." I said to myself.

Suddenly I heard a russling sound. I quickly found the scource of it. It was some lion mutant thing going through my bag.

"You bastard. I'm not even gonna use my gun for this." I said as I steped into the opening where my bag was.

The thing looked at me with a steak in its mouth. Stupid thing. Just made his death worse. I quickly took out my knife and flashed the sun in his eyes. It reared up and tried to cover them. I took this chance and charged at the thing, Punching it in the face with my hand with the knife. I curved the punch so the knife would also cut the things face too. The knife ran through its cheeck. I could see the rows of teeth inside its mouth. One row on the outside where big and pointed, but not sharp.

"Most likely for appearance." I thought.

I then tryed to blind it again, only to have it swing its scorpion tail-like thing at me. I stopped trying to blind it and blocked the tail with the blade. I took this chance to use my other hand and smashed my fist into one of the tail's joints. Crippling the end. It rawred in pain and I threw my knife right into it's gullet. It let out a gurrgle and fell down limp. I walked over and felt for a pulse. None.

"Awww... I had many more things in mind for it." I said.

I picked up my bag and put it over my shoulder. I then walked over to the lion thing and tryed to pick it up. It was lighter than it looked.

"Cool. I was looking for more of a challenge though. But I ain't complaining." I said as I dragged the thing by its tail. When I walked out of the forest, I saw the six ponies from earlier by Fluttershy's house.

"You better not have brought Celestia with you!" I yelled over to them. They quickly looked at me and ran. I walked over to where they where and some drawings in the dirt. It looked like a map of sorts but with 6 X's all over the city.

"Looks like they where trying to find places to hide." I said with a clear frown on my face.

"And I was actually starting to warm up to those girls." I said to myself. This entire thing was only a small dent in my steel fortress of a heart, but it still hurt none the less.

I sighed and walked off back to the forest. But before I left , I took a stick and wrote a note in the dirt next to the map.

"Listen, I'm sorry for being who I am. I'm also sorry for scaring you girls. If you ever need me, I'll either be by Celestia, or in the forest. Hopefully the latter of the two. And Fluttershy, I know you like me. Twilight told me. And get a real man. I ain't one, I'm just a monster. Oh, and Twilight. If any of the six of you need me for some reason, you better tell me. I know where you live."

Once I got into the forest, I dropped my stuff on the ground and climbed a tree to find a cave or something. I ended up finding a clearing filled with rocks and some caves.

"Perfect. I can probably make some tools with the rocks and the caves will provide shelter." I said, while climbing down the tree. At the base of the tree, there where some blue flowers.

"Wow. Pretty." I said. And with that, I took my knife out and cut off all their heads. I grabbed them, and shoved them into my pockets. The pollen was starting to turn my hands a dark black.

"What the fuck? What the hell is going on here? Oh well. I'll only make me harder to see in the shadows." I said, as I noticed that the rest of my skin was slowly turning black too.

Once I reached the caves, I stepped into a shadow. I noticed that my hands started to dissappear.

"What the fuck?!" I yelled. I quickly stepped out of the shadows and noticed my hand slowly materialized where it was. I slowly put my hand back into the shadow and it dissappeared again.

"Cool. I'm turning into a shadow." I said. I looked at a rock in the shadow and focusted on it. I noticed a darker shade of black coming from where my hand was and surrounded the rock. I was able to lift it up. I then crushed it into the shadows, and noticed a shining gem in it. I immediatly felt a pain where my hand was.

"Ok... well thats Fan-fucking-tasic. I can't come within direct contact with light. Oh well. I don't really need much light. And condidering how It only effects me when I'm the shadow, I don't think its much of a problem. Hmm... If I wasn't hated in Ponyville I'd go terrorize some ponies... wait. I'm hated there, thats perfect reason to go terroize. But first I should go in these caves and make myself a home." I said.

While walking to the caves, I felt a small rumbleing under me. I quickly dismissed it but kept my gaurd up. I walked into the cave and my entire body was gone. I noticed my cloths appeared to be floating. My black jacket covered up where my waist was and my pants where a dark blue so I wasn't worried about being seen by anyone in the cave. I kept wandering through and noticed a couple torches on the walls. I also found a bunch of these dog like things all around. I made the shadows wrap their way into one of the dogs head and crushed its skull. All I heard of it was a sickening Crack, and then the thud of the body hitting the ground. I used the shadows to cover the body up and drag it to the wall, where the shadows where darkest near the bottom. I walked into a small opening in the caves where it was completely lit. I noticed my body materialize. I took out my knife in case one of those dog things showed up.

"I should really head back to Fluttershy's place every once and a while to visit and get supplies." I said to myself.

"Well, either way, considering how I can apparently become a shadow and how easyily those dog things die, I think this seems like a good place to stay." I said.

I had dug a small hole and put my bag in it. I now cut open that lion thing and gutted it. I cleaned out the stomach and attached it to a wall to dry out. I then cut off the tail, and used the plating on it to make some armor for my arms and legs. I cut off the front paws and hollowed them out so it was just the claws and the paw itself. I put the paws in my pockets so I had them with me all the time. I used some of the mane on the thing to make rope. I used my knife to make holes in the tailplating and wrapped the rope through them and tied them to my arm tight enought to hold them on and not get shook off. I used my foot to smash the things skull in half and used my knife to cut the rest of the flesh off. I then took off the upper jaw and the skull and put some rocks and dirt in there to get out any moisture in it. Once I cleaned it out, I used my knife to make 2 more holes in the side and tied the skull to my head. I used the rest of the mane on the thing and cut off the skin holding it and cut holes in to spots and wrapped it around my body.

"Nothing new, I used to do this with deer all the time back home. Then again, I always had to find a way to get a challenge out of killing them. I'm pretty sure the harest kill I had was when I snuck up to a buck and gutted him right there. Poor thing kept kicking until I ripped out his heart. Worst part is that he didn't taste very good either..." I said to myself. I suddenly felt the rumbleing under me again. Then, I saw 3 more of those dog things again. One was a large grayish- blue with a grey jacket, another was a small brown one with a grey jacket, and last was a taller dark-grey one with a red jacket. He looked the smartest of the bunch.

"Vat are you doing here?" the tall one asked.

"Your mother." I replied. I didn't like these three the moment I saw them. Instinctivly considering them enemies.

"Vat did you say?!" It yelled back.

"Your mother!" I yelled, as I stood up to my full height of about 6 ft 4in. The dogs must have been about the height of a pony, 'cause they had to look straight up at me. They shrank back when they first saw me, but quickly regained their composure. They quickly gained an attack stance. I, mean while, just stood there, waiting for them to attack. I put my hands in my jacket pockets where the lion-thing's paws where and slipped my hands in them. The dogs noticed this and started to circle me.

"What are you waiting for? Come and get me. I garantee you will die." I said.

"Ohh.... Now you vill get zit!" The tall one said.
They all jumped at me at once. I quickly took my hands out of my pockets with the lion-thing's paws around them. I swipped the small in while I grabbed the tall one by the neck. I used my other hand to stab the claws on the other paw into the big dog's chest. I kept the tall one in my hand. I had a plan for him. I kept pushing my hand into the big ones chest, slowly twisting it to breaking ribs and cutting the flesh. All the while it screemed from the pain. Soon I found a lung and lunged straight through it to it's heart, and grabbed it. And ripped it out. I held the still beating heart in front of it's owner's face. I watched the heart stop and the dog close it's eyes. I then walked over to the small dog. Paralized with fear and unable to move.

"I advise you to run. Or you can stay and fight me." I said to it. It quickly got up and ran. I took my knife out and threw it straight into its spine.

"Wrong choice. I told you all you would die. And I keep to my word." I said, as I walked over to it, I noticed it was slightly breathing still.

"Poor thing. Don't worry, I'll end your troubles right now." I said, as I ripped my knife out and slit it's throat. It let out a small gurgle as the blood filled his esophagus.

"Now you." I said, throwing the tall one against the wall.

"You have successfully killed your friends with your actions! And now you will pay the price! They have died. And their deaths will be on your conscience. But you will suffer a worse fate. You will have to live without them! The people who loved you! You, will have to carry the burden of their deaths. Have a nice life you piece of shit!" I yelled as I kicked him in the side, breaking a couple of his ribs. I then picked him up by the scruff of his neck.

"Tell me this before I throw you out of here. What where their names?" I asked.

"Spot... and Fido." It said, having a hard time breathing.

"Good. Now you get to live with their names forever engraved in your skin. Have fun remembering your mistake." I said as I threw him on the ground once more. I held his arms in one hand and sat on his back. I then used the other hand to carve the names Spot and Fido on the dog's back. Once I was done, I got up, kicked him again, picked him up by his hind leg and walked to the cave entrance with him dragging behind. I then threw him about 10 feet away from the cave.

"And run to Ponyville while you're at it! Tell them that Paul'll be seeing them soon!" I yelled after it as it ran away.

Once I was back inside the cave, I made my way back to the opening where my stuff was. I went over to the lion-thing's corpse and opened up its abdomen. I then climbed in the body and moved some of the fat to where my head was and fell asleep purposly for the first time in Equestria, with the thought of steak for breakfast on my mind.

A couple hours later...

A tall dark-grey dog was staggering its way to a village. Once there, he quickly was found by a worried looking pink maned pegasus.

"A-are you alright?" It asked.

"Yes... But I needz help."

"Oh my! What did this to you?"

"A really tall creature..." It said, gasping for breath. "It said, 'Paul vill be seeing youz zoon." It gasped. It then fell to the ground unconsious. The pegasus noticed two names on its back. Spot and Fido. It also noticed a dent on its chest. Like something had broke the dog's ribs. The pegasus hurried to find help. She neared what looked like a castle in the sky and quickly knocked on the door.

Soon, a cyan pegasus with a rainbow mane opened the door.

It yawned and ask, "Hey what's up Fluttershy? It's like 10 PM."

"There's a Diamond Dog on the road over there!" Fluttershy said slightly above her usuall wisper. "He calapsed and he said something about somepony named Paul coming to see us soon!"

"Paul? Never heard of him. What a strange name too. Did he say anything else?"

"He said that it was really tall." Fluttershy said.

"Tall? Could it be that one thing from before? I feel kind of bad from running away... He said that if we never gave him reason to attack, then he wouldn't. Do you think he found a reason?" The rainbow maned pegasus asked.

"I don't know Rainbow, but right now we need to help the Diamond Dog. He can probably tell us more when he wakes up." Fluttershy replied.

"Yeah, I guess your right. Come on, we need to get there fast. We should bring him to Twilight's, maybe she could help." Rainbow said.

The two pegesi quickly flew over to where the Diamond Dog lay. He was sturring in hissleep. Like he was having a nightmare. Fluttershy quickly flew over and noticed itandstarted tosing a lullaby.

"Hush now, quiet now..."

While she was singing, the Diamond Dog's nightmare was getting worse. The night mare kept replaying the events of that day over and over. Fluttershy noticed her lullaby wasn't helping and stopped. She motioned for Rainbow to help lift the Diamond Dog. Once they brought the Diamond Dog to Twilight's, they quickly knocked and after waiting about 5 minutes, Twilight finally came out with a messed up mane.

"What now...?" She asked, her eyes where still half closed and didn't notice what the two pegasi where carrying.

"Can we bring him inside and help him Twilight? He warned us that something was coming soon and we want to let him rest so he can tell us." Fluttershy asked.

"Bring who inside?" She asked as shelooked at what they where carrying. She saw the Diamond Dogs terrable condition and noticed that it looked familiar.

"Isn't that the Diamond Dog that kidnapped Rarity?" She asked. The two pegasi looked at him closer and recognized him too.

"Well... yeah. I guess so, but he's hurt and he warned us. He could help us with whatever is coming. He said something about a tall creature named Paul. He said he was gonna see us soon." Rainbow said.

"Fine... He can come inside. I'm going to go write to Princess Celestia about this." Twilight said. She then opened the door all the way and walked over to her desk and started to write. Fluttershy brought the Diamond Dog over to the couch and set him on it. She quickly started to work on his many cuts and bruises.

"Whatever did this to him must have been strong..." Rainbow commented.

"Poor dear. He must have been through alot. But whatever it was knew how to write. See? Just look at the names on his back." Fluttershy said, Turning over the Diamond Dog to show Rainbow.

"Do you think it was that one thing from before?" Rainbow asked.

"No, It couldn't have been. These cuts where from an animal with claws. Maybe it was a manticore."

"But he said that it was tall and could speak, remember?" Rainbow said.

"Yes, I remember. I just don't want to think that he would do this..."

"Why?" Rainbow asked.

"B-because... I-i Kinda like him..." Fluttershy said with a blush.

"You like him too?" Rainbow asked witha suprised look.

"Y-yeah, why? Do you do too?" Fluttershy asked.

Rainbow just simply nodded.

Suddenly they heard Twilight yell for Spike. Soon, a baby dragon with green scales and a purple body came walking down the stairs.

"Yeah Twilight?" It asked.

"Send this to Princess Celestia please." Twilight said.

The dragon blew a sparkly green flame at the letter and the ashed flew out the window.

"Good, maybe Princess Celestia will know what to do, Thanks Spike!" Twilight said.

"No proble-" Suddenly, the dragon was interuped as a puff of smoke came out of his mouth with a letter. Twilight opened the letter and read it. After she was done, she quickly dropped it and ran upstairs.

"What was that about?" Rainbow asked Fluttershy. Fluttershy simply shruged and watched as Rainbow walked over to the letter to read it.

My Dearest Student Twilight,

The thing named "Paul" was actually the thing you and your friends saw before. I feel that what he said was a threat and he is extremely dangerous. I will be sending Royal Gaurds to Ponyville to help protect you and your friends. Until we know that it is safe for you, I will not withdraw the Royal Gaurd. I advise that you stay away from anywhere that he could be. Sadly, that means anywhere. So I advise that you get all your friends and hide somewhere safe. I would like to tell you more, but all I know is this, he was a Soldier back from where he is from. He has killed thousands with deadly skill and quick thinking. If you ever see a glint of a small metal object in the sun, duck behind cover. I doubt that he would attack during daylight though, so be inside and hidden at night.

Once Rainbow was done, she was shaking in fear.

"Quick! We have to go get the others!" She yelled, and flew out the door as fast as she could go. First she went to Pinkie Pie's house. She flew in, knocking everything over, and grabbed Pinkie and flew out, heading to Rarity's place next. She then flew in the window on the second floor and grabbed Rarity. She quickly flew back to Twilight's and dropped them off. She then flew over to Sweet Apple Acres and flew into the barn and found AppleJack snoring in her sleep. She tried to lift her and found she couldn't. So she wrapped a rope under her front hooves and dragged her back to Twilights. By now, everyone was wondering what was going on.

"What's goin' on here?" AppleJack asked, she had woken up when a rock her her head on the way to Twilights.

"Here! Just read this!" Rainbow said, flying over to the paper and grabbing it. She then gave it to Twilight to read. After she was done reading it, all of them where shaking, all but Rainbow and Twilight, as they had already read the letter.

"So when is the Royal Gaurd suppost ta get here?" AppleJack asked.

"I don't know. Celestia never said." Twilight replied. Suddenly, there was sound of wheels on dirt and a knock at the door.
