New Colt On The Block
Chapter 2 - The Cutie Mark Crusaders
Previous ChapterSilver laid there on his desk in school.
He was listening intently to his teacher's sermon about carrying numbers and what not, but he wasn't hearing her. It was in one ear and out the next. The only sound he could say her truly heard was the school's bell, marking the end of the school day.
Silver always hated school. Not because of the teachers, they were are all great, or the lessons, they were all easy because he had learned this all in Canterlot about 2 grades below, but because of his mother being outside the school at exactly 3 every day. He never got to make any friends because, let's face it, a bandaged face doesn't exactly get you respect points in class.
Curious fillies and colts would stare at him, but no one said anything. Only the teacher ever spoke to him that day, and she was friendly, but creepy at the same time. Weird part is, he never remembered her name.
But today had been his redemption day, because his mother wasn't outside the school when it had ended that day. He was overfilled with joy but then remembered the sight of the day he moved into Ponyville. He could still remember the color of the colt who hit him, but nothing more.
He was just about ready to walk home, until he was stopped by a filly with a red mane, a big, pink bow in her hair and a cream-colored body. Before he could speak, she abruptly stated "Hi! I'm Apple Bloom and I'm apart of the Cutie Mark Crusaders! We're a group that-" She was cut off by another filly who shouted from a number of feet away, "Apple Bloom! I thought I was going to introduce us!" This filly had a pink and purple curly mane and a white body.
Silver was more confused than anyone in this situation. He then said, "Uh, hi... my name is Silver Lining. I'm supposed to be waiting for my mom, but she isn't here for some reason."
As he finished his sentence, another filly practically sped over to them on a scooter. She then said, "There you guys are! You could have at least let me come along to introduce ourselves!"
"Sorry Scootaloo, we would have told you, but you were over there doing... whatever you do on that scooter." The cream-colored filly stated.
"Well excuse me. Anyway, my name's Scootaloo, this is Apple Bloom..." She pointed at the filly who has a bow in her hair. "And this is Sweetie Belle." She pointed to the white pony with the pink and purple hair. "We're the Cutie Mark Crusaders!"
"I wanted to introduce us..." Sweetie Belle stated, feeling a bit cheated.
"I'm Silver Lining. I'm waiting for my mom." Silver managed. Really and truly, he didn't know what to say.
"Yeah we see that, you always go home early. We been wanting to talk too you for days, but you always left so early." Apple Bloom dragged, "But now that we finally get to talk to you, we wanted to know if you wanted to join the Cutie Mark Crusaders!"
They all got in some fancy position as a flag with the picture of a colt with a cape flew in the background.
Silver felt confused about these fillies. He didn't want to say yes, but then he didn't want to say no. Instead he just said, "II appreciate the invitation, but I have to go now. I feel as though I should walk home. Bye now." He walked past the fillies and towards the direction of his house.
"Told ya we should have had added some fireworks." Scootaloo stated.
"Quiet Scootaloo." Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle both retorted.
Silver walked home in silence. He didn't know why his mother hadn't been waiting outside for him, and would ask her as soon as he got home.
