Chapter-39 Guards[Edited]

Josh was awoken by the sun rays attacking his face. He felt more refreshed then he had felt since he had started his magic training. He wasn't even displeased that he was awoken rather then wake up at his own pace. As he was getting up he felt a thirst similar to the one he felt when he first almost got killed by Celestia.

Memory of what had happened surfaced to his still sleepy mind and he rushed to Luna's room to demand an explanation as to why her sister had tried to kill him and why did Luna knocked him unconscious in the painful way she did. As he burst the door open it slammed into the wall and the handle got stuck in the wall. Much to his surprise he noticed that there was no one in the room.

{Well it might be for the best considering she could kill me just as easily as her sister. I need to calm down and wait until my mysterious benefactor releases me from the bond's restriction and get away.}-Night thought as he headed for the bathroom, he couldn't wait for the servants to bring him refreshments.

Once Josh had finished drinking water he decided to search for Luna even if he couldn't find her he was sure to run into a guard or a servant who could tell him where she is. As Josh exited Luna's room he noticed that no guards were stationed to guard the entrance.

{Perhaps Celestia is starting to trust me more, or maybe she is genuinely scared from me nearly strangling her. Either way hopefully she won't try to imprison me, not now that it's just a matter of time before I escape.}-Josh thought as he headed for the guards barracks as that was a place where he was certain to find a guard.

"nah I am telling you he probably had a good reason for it. He is pretty calm usually."-Night heard the overly exited voice of Vibrant Arts coming from behind a corner and walked to see the pegasus mare walking side by side with an earth pony in a golden armour.

"Surrender." Upon noticing him the earth pony shouted as she pointed her spear centimetres from his neck.

"No wait" was all Vibrant Arts could get out before Night had jumped backwards then crouched and jumped forward grabbed the spears hilt with his right hand and used it to propel his left knee to the earth pony's side. The pony dropped the spear as she flew and hit a wall.

Night not really caring much for the pathetic attack and still needing Arts help dropped the spear to the floor then straightened his suit as he spoke while still observing the earth pony that was beginning to come to its senses from the shock.

"Vibrant Arts where is Luna? "Night said sternly. "Also does this mean that the gold armoured guard will become a night guard?" He asked as the guard got up and stood still under Nights gaze.

"Um I don't think so I mean if that's what it takes to be transferred to the night guard I think there won't be any day guards by the end of the year. As for Luna she should be in her bedroom. Oh! Night can you tell me why you attacked Celestia. I was just explaining to my friend here that you probably had a good reason." Night said calmly in her high pitched voice.

"Huh well she was pointing a weapon at me . Would you just stand there and be cut down? And don't say its a gentelcolt's code of honour I will not follow such idiotic teachings. Fighting just like war is a testament to ones skill and any restrictions you force on yourself make you a fool. Any ways since I won't find Luna, for now show me the way to the barracks I need to train my skills or I might get slow." Night said with a commanding voice.

"See I told you Greenie. Even if his reason was that he doesn't know how somepony is given a noble title it's totally a legitimate reason." Arts said happily as she looked at the earth pony that was picking up her spear.

"Oh yeah, then why the buck did he attack me Arts?" Green Fields asked spitefully. Both mares ignoring Nights order to show him the way to the barracks.

"Well duh you challenged him and he has this title to defend so when you demanded that he surrender I was Certain you would get knocked out. I tried to stop you but I was a bit late. Just be happy he didn't carry anything on him or you might have gotten hurt."- Vibrant Arts stated with a smirk.

"As enlightening as it is to hear your opinions of me I did ask you to show me the way to the barracks so I could train. If you don't want to I could always spar with the two of you." Night said with a bit of annoyance in his voice as he glared at Vibrant Arts.

"No, no that won't be necessary I was just waiting for Greenie here to get back on her hooves. So lets head back to the barracks." Arts said nervously as she dusted off Green Fields.

As they walked to the barracks the group passed a few patrols of guards, most shivered in fear and stepped to the side of the hall to let Night and the two ponies pass. One patrol however was made of 2 sun guards, a unicorn and a pegasus.

As they saw Night the pegasus charged at Night with his spear. Night sidestepped as he grabbed the spear and avoided it and then punched the attacking pony while focusing a small amount of his magic to make him heavier. The pony fell to the ground unable to lift itself under the weight of its own body.

The unicorn fearing for his friends life began to charge a spell. Night was seeing the energy gathering much more clearly now then before he had undergone his training. As the spell was charged 3 icicles were sent flying towards Night but he had noticed it long in advance he took the spear and charged magic trough it as he hit the icicles. The unicorn stood dumfounded as the 3 icicles flew and shattered into the small shards each peace standing firmly glued to the sealing .

While the unicorn was distracted Night walked up to him and pointed the spear inches from his eyes..

"Surrender." the unicorn slowly nodded to the command. "And if you ever try to use magic on me again I will break of your horn, tell that to the rest of the guards its your punishment for attacking me." Night said in a cold voice while looking straight at the unicorns eyes.

"Yes." The guard said as he ran towards the pegasus passing Green Fields and Vibrant Arts who were still in shock from what had happened.

"You didn't mean what you said about the horn right?" Arts asked nervously as they began to walk again.

"Of course I did. Horns channel magic and are as such a weapon. As soon as someone attacks me I have every right to break their weapons I would usually kill my attacker as well but I did make a promise to Luna." -Night said calmly as if he was stating facts.

"But a unicorns horn is like a pegasus wing its loss is crushing." Arts argued.

"Well then I suppose the unicorn guards won't be trying to use spells on me. So long as they attack me with weapons other then their horns I will only break those. And besides even if you lose one limb or sense it only means you would have that much more time to devote to training the rest of yourself."- Night said uncaring for the silly notion.

With that silence fell over the group as neither mare dared to speak and Night had nothing he wished to discuss.
