A Tale of Many Worlds

Sonic looked over the boat's edge, while it was moving quickly, it was still slow for him, and his excitement was getting the better of him. He had finally convinced the Mane Six to go with him to see a place from his world. They were heading to the busy city of Station Square, where they would spending a day at the famous Emerald Coast, a very popular beach in the city. Sonic had actually managed to get ahold of Dipper and Mabel's summer caretaker, Stan Pines. He had allowed them to go seeing as business where he was is booming. The Merge usually had an effect like that, new people and creatures finding things they've never seen before and end up either hating it or really enjoying it. Jenny, Brad, and Tuck would be tagging along too, although Jenny would have to stay on the shore, otherwise she would rust. He was just excited, in fact he was wearing something Rarity had made for him, a simple pair of swim trunks, she had made custom bathing suits for all of them, and it was a very kind gesture. This would also allow them to reunite a couple of Sonic's friends who had left Ponyville. The least to say the hedgehog couldn't wait. However Discord ruined the moment when he promptly dumped Sonic in the ocean. After a light scolding from Fluttershy, Discord apologized and began to speak with Sonic.

"I must say something Sonic. When I was on my little tour along this planet of ours, I found Emerald Coast to be the highlight of my tour! It really is a wonderful place. The best part... I wasn't looked at like a freak! If I had come here ten years ago then I'd be called a monster and probably hunted down for a reward." Discord said with a grin, but Sonic wasn't really paying attention, he saw a distant figure, the only thing that could really be made out was that it was yellow. Sonic knew who it was and he couldn't be happier as the boat stopped at the edge of the city and allowed them to exit. The figure ran over and hugged Sonic, all that Dipper and Mabel could tell was that it was a fox, with two tails, and blue eyes.

"Tails! It's been way too long buddy!" Sonic said, once the hug had ended.

"I know! It seems like it's been forever. I see you brought everyone and a few new guys. For those of you who don't know me, I'm Miles Prower, but you can call me Tails!" The fox said, before the Mane six took turns exchanging hugs with the fox. "So what're you guys going to do first?" Tails asked as he walked with them.

"Well first we were going to hit Emerald Coast." Sonic replied, but that made Tails look nervous.

"You mean you haven't heard?" Tails asked, now taking on a sad look. "Something there's been terrifying anyone that goes on the beach! If anyone can stop it, it would be you Sonic! Good luck!" Tails said, before spinning his tails like a propeller and taking off to the skies.

"Huh... We should investigate this..." Sonic muttered, before he led them to through the hotel and onto the beach's warm sand. Then without warning, a large tentacle broke through the surface of the water and began reaching at them. "WHOA!" Sonic yelled, but the tentacle stopped and a familiar face popped out of the water holding the fake tentacle.

"Knuckles!? Was this just some big prank?" Sonic asked, now angry.

The red echidna began to laugh and agreed. "You really thought we wouldn't pounce on this opportunity?" Knuckles asked, grinning at them.

Sonic sighed as Tails flew down next to them. "Sorry guys... It was too good to pass up..." Tails said, and Sonic shook his head.

"You know... I thought you were much more mature than this Tails... I guess you still are just a kid..." Sonic said, frowning and shaking his head. Tails went to say something and Sonic shoved him into the water. "THAT'S FOR PRANKING US!" Sonic shouted with a grin, while Tails realized the trick. "Now let's just enjoy this day at the beach!" Sonic shouted, and they all began cheer. the group split up to do different things and try to pass the time for as long ask possible.

Sonic sat on a lounge chair with a pair of sunglasses over his eyes, he was trying to relax and enjoy himself, but he couldn't get rid of this feeling in his gut that something big was coming... However, he noticed everything get dark and he took of his shades to see Fluttershy standing over him. Sonic grinned and stood up. He began to take her in, she was very beautiful, her mane was wet and it hung heavy under gravity's effects, her thin arms were at her sides, her slender legs planted hooves into the sand, her pregnancy was starting to show, for she had become a little rounder in the belly area, but he didn't care. Sonic hugged her, and saw Discord with a mischievous grin. He changed his shape to fit a shark and began to flop towards Tuck, but Sonic let go of Fluttershy, picked up a small stone and threw it at Discord. It hit him directly on the nose startling him, which caused him to return to normal and fall face first into the water. Tuck looked behind him and began to laugh, although Discord didn't seem very amused. Sonic rolled his eyes and looked back to Fluttershy who was frowning, she looked at Sonic and he sighed giving in and apologized to Discord, who accepted it. That seemed to make Fluttershy happy, as she was smiling now. Sonic looked around the beach to see if he could spot everyone. Tails floated lazily in the water, while Knuckles lurked below, Dipper was making a sand castle with Jenny and Mabel, Brad and Tuck seemed to stay near the shallow water, Twilight sat cross-legged in the sand reading a book, Rarity had brought an inner-tube and floated in that, Applejack and Rainbow Dash were racing in the ocean, while Pinkie leapt out of the water at random times and startled them whenever possible. Sonic knew that they just needed a day off, after all the chaos that had just happened. However noticing that it wasn't even noon yet, knew that this day might be longer than they thought.

"OH MY GOSH! HE'S SO ADORABLE!" Mabel shouted, she had walked further down the beach and pointed at something in the water. Jenny and Dipper looked and they both agreed. Sonic, who was now curious what this thing was, approached and smiled. What was swimming by was a small round creature, it was bright pink with red feet, it had two nubby little arms and big blue eyes. However it was wearing a snorkel and a diving mask. Sonic picked up another small stone and gently tossed it near the creature, getting its attention. It noticed them and waved before heading for them. It stepped out of the water and removed the snorkel and mask before breaking into a run towards them.

"Kirby, I didn't know you were coming here today." Sonic said calmly, and Kirby jumped into the air happily. "So you liking it so far?" Sonic asked and Kirby nodded. "Well these are my friends. I'm sure they'd like to meet you." Sonic then pointed at Jenny, Dipper, and Mabel Kirby waved and said something in a strange language. Only Sonic and Fluttershy only seemed to understand was he was saying.

"Well. I suppose you need to be going, don't you Kirby?" Fluttershy said, and Kirby nodded before running off into the distance.

"We should wrap it up, I want you guys to see the Mystic Ruins before we head back home." Sonic said, and they began to collect and gather their things.

Now wearing more casual clothing instead of their bathing suits, with the exception of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, they approached the train that led there.

"We've got to take the train. Usually I'd run in front of it, but the conductor's requested that I stop. Makes him nervous. It should only take about five minutes or so." Sonic explained, as they boarded the train and waited to arrive at the Mystic Ruins.

The train stopped, allowing them to get off, when the doors first opened they saw the old looking wooden structure that led them to the ground. They saw the nearby cliff side and the few trees that were in the area.

"Welcome, to the Mystic Ruins! Where Tails has a workshop." Sonic announced, pointing at the building in the distance. They moved over and saw a large waterfall with a pool of water at the edge. "Pretty neat huh?" Sonic asked, as Pinkie inspected an old looking mine cart.

"Does this thing still work?" Pinkie asked, and Sonic nodded.

"You actually take it to get to the ruins." Tails said, before they each boarded it and allowed the cart to take them through a large tunnel. One they came out many of them were shocked and surprised at the sights before them, a large collection of nature, trees, animals, and no sign of civilization. The group climbed down a ladder and approached the ruins that lied ahead, they were large and very old. Sonic took a deep breath before beginning to explain what he knew.

"This was at one point a great area for an ancient tribe of echidnas, they built their city around this structure and things only went downhill from there. Their Chief sought power, for all the wrong reasons. He wanted to take the Chaos Emeralds for himself, and use them to destroy all his enemies. However during their charge on the area where the Emeralds were kept they injured small creatures known as Chao. The current guardian of the Emeralds went into a rage and absorbed their power, before trying to destroy the world. The Chief's daughter had become good friends with the guardian and wanting to save both him and the world, sealed the guardian away inside of the Master Emerald, it was five years ago today that the Guardian was released by Eggman. With the power of the Chaos Emeralds and my friends I was able to calm him, allowing him and the Chief's daughter to finally rest." Sonic explained.

Jenny whirled around and her hand turned into a strange looking weapon, it was obviously used for firing something, but what she was focused on was something following them. Much to her surprise the creature was not a threat and was actually kind of adorable, even if it did horrify Rarity. It was a small green frog, just big enough to fit in her palm. She began to gently rub under its chin and it gave out a few happy croaks.

"Froggy? What're you doing here?" Sonic asked, moving to the animal. "Wherever you are... Big isn't too far away..." Sonic muttered, but they soon felt the ground begin to shake under their feet. A loud stomping was echoing through the trees, and it was getting closer and closer. They saw the source of the stomping was a large purple cat. He had a simple pair of boots, a brown belt with a golden buckle, and a pair of tan gloves. In his right hand he carried a fishing rod. The jumped and slid forward on his belly, causing them to be forced into the air a few inches.

"Froggy! I found you! How many times have I said not to run off like that?" The cat said, talking to the frog that was in Jenny's hand. "Hm? Sonic? You're back!" The cat shouted, rising onto his feet and wrapping the hedgehog in an enormous hug. They let out looks of shock when they heard something crack.

"BIG! SPINE BREAKING! CAN'T BREATHE! AIR! PLEASE!" Sonic shouted, and the cat's eyes widened realizing that he was crushing his friend. Big dropped Sonic and the hedgehog fell onto the ground attempting to suck air into his lungs. Big picked Sonic up and set him on his feet, before looking back at the frog.

"Thank you for finding Froggy. I don't know what I would have done if he'd run off..." Big said, reaching out his left hand, the frog jumped from Jenny's palm into Big's and let out a happy croak.

"Guys, this is Big. He didn't come with to Equestria, mostly because he was worried about Froggy." Tails explained, and the large purple cat waved to them. After a short conversation with Big they knew it was about time to start heading back to Equestria. for the day was ending and Mr. Shine would soon be in the sky. So they said goodbye, leaving Tails, Knuckles, and Big in Station Square while they traveled back home to get some well deserved rest.
