A Tale of Many Worlds

Sonic had begun to slam shut doors and windows, while he ordered Dipper and Mabel to gather as much canned food and bottled water as they could fit into a bag.

"What's going on?" Dipper asked, as he began to fill the sack with canned fruits and vegetables, while Mabel stuffed the same sack with bottles of water. Sonic sighed and looked around for anything else they could use, however he had found nothing.

"The Zerg are coming. We have to get to the basement, I've got a safe room in there." Sonic said, although this didn't explain much.

Fluttershy rushed down the stairs and looked at them.

"Is this really happening? They've never gotten this close to town before!" She said, there was obvious fear in her voice.

"Come on! We can't wait any longer, we need to get to the safe room now!" Sonic yelled, grabbing Fluttershy's wrist and began to pull to towards the basement steps, he opened the door and allowed her to go down. He looked at Dipper and Mabel who rushed down after her. Sonic heard the windows shatter, and he began to rush downstairs as well. The Zerg were closing in on him, with so little space, Sonic knew that moving any faster would dangerous. He saw the door to the safe room up ahead and jumped inside just as a Zerg creature fired a spine that lodged into Sonic's arm. He let out a loud cry of pain as he fell into the room, and the other three managed to shut the heavy metal door.

"Sonic are you ok?" Dipper asked, while Sonic yanked out the spine, the wound was deep and crimson blood began to pour from it.

"I'm fine... Everyone laughed at me when I told them I was having this built into the house... I knew that it would be needed one day... I never imagined against the Zerg though..." Sonic said.

"Meaning?" Mabel asked, and Sonic stood up.

"Meaning that if they get enough Roaches or Banelings this door will melt like ice cream on a hot day." Sonic replied, but he felt something touch him. Fluttershy ad begun to wrap his wound, and he sat down. He was exhausted, running from aliens really drains you quickly. Sonic looked at the scared faces around him, he sighed and pulled them close to him.

"Don't worry. I'm sure we'll be fine." Sonic said, while they tried to calm down, and they began to think about their lives. Sonic began to hum a tune, and eventually all four were humming it while they waited for either the Zerg to come and get them... Or to be rescued...

Gauss Rifles fired as the Zerg approached Ponyville, although some were managing to get through, they wouldn't live long. Raynor stood on the front lines firing his own personal Gauss Rifle, having been painted entirely black with the Raider's symbol near the muzzle. He knew that these Zerg were feral, there was no doubt about that. After all Kerrigan wouldn't attack a town like this without reason. He often wondered what Kerrigan was doing, the last he had seen her was when she had killed Mengsk. That was a day that he would never forget. He was jolted from his thoughts by a sudden pressure on his abdomen, the Zergling had taken a different route of attack this time. It had tackled him, normally this wouldn't have done anything, but because he had been distracted the small Zerg caused him to tumble to the ground. The Zergling growled and prepared to strike at his exposed face, but a spear pierced the Zergling's side, making it fall over and die. Raynor saw Shining Armor and a group of guard approach, and Raynor smiled got back onto his feet and continued to fight. The large amount of Zerg must have known that only with Zerglings and Hydralisks, they couldn't win, so they turned and began to retreat. The Terrans and Ponies let out cheers of joy and happiness knowing that the Zerg had left.

Sonic opened the door and peeked outside, he smiled and stepped out with Fluttershy, Dipper, and Mabel following. They went back upstairs to find barely anything had been damaged, mostly it had been around the kitchen for they had been searching for food in there.

"We made it... Glad they didn't have any Banelings... Or Roaches... I suppose we should see the damage in town." Sonic said, and they moved back towards the small town and observed the damage that had been done. Much too their surprise, the town was intact, there had been no damage to buildings, but several Marines had been killed fighting. Sonic moved and placed his hand on the chest of one Marine.

"You fought protecting us and making sure that we lived... You were a good man..." Sonic muttered, he turned to face Raynor, who had approached.

"You ok?" Raynor asked, and Sonic nodded.

"The twins are going to want an explanation. You're going to give it to them." Sonic said, before Raynor sighed and agreed to tell them.

Raynor waited for Sonic to bring them over and then he began to explain what the Zerg are, and why they do this, even though the twins refused to believe that something out there could be this malicious, this dangerous, this willing to kill without a reason. However the truth hurts and they were indeed hurt. Sonic placed his hand around Fluttershy's waist and pulled her close to him, she wrapped her arms around him, they both began to shed silent tears, knowing that peace may never be found.
