Chapter 4 - A Fatal Calculation

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

The kitchen fell silent as our two lovers exited their bedroom. The two were more closer together as they walked smiling to each other and not paying attention to the stallions who were watching their movements. Flash, Golden and Piercing sat there and watched them walk by like nothing is wrong or nothing is amiss. Piercing teleported in front of the two mares stopping them in their tracks, giving him their full attention.

“What do you need Piercing?” Twilight asked not caring about his situation at the moment.

Piercing can obviously smell their scents mixed between the two so from speculation they didn’t bother taking a shower. “For one thing Princess Twilight you were very ‘vocal’ in your room when you were supposedly taking a nap. We suspected that you were under some distress so we were about to breach when we heard more than just snoring.”

Twilight’s face was now a shade of burning crimson. Piercing overheard them, they all did. The look of embarrassment on Twilight’s face turned into an angry fury.

“You over heard us doing…Oh what is wrong with you? Why were you spying on us?” Twilight was practically crying now.

Piercing looked to Sunset who wasn’t fazed at all. “We didn’t spy on you two we are only here to protect and serve like all guards who serve you but our methods of doing that is more, how can I say this right? We’re more ‘advanced’ then all for the guards here including Flash Sentry-“

“Buck you.” Flash yelled to Piercing.

“As I was saying…” Piercing resumed, “We respect your full privacy girls and we do not intend to impede on such matters. However we did overheard your ‘session’ from the kitchen. Mainly you Twilight. But as a guy we cannot help ourselves from listening and also it can be heard all around the castle as these walls bounce sound waves. So if you wish to punish us then go ahead.” Piercing spoke truth and nothing but truth. They did hear them all the way from the kitchen.

Twilight looked at the three stallions, they did agree with Piercing so she came to a conclusion. “There will be no punishment just knock on the door 3 times if we get to loud.” Piercing nodded it off and went back to the group.

Flash walked over to Sunset and nudged her. “You win Sunny, you actually got some and by the sounds of it you were slaying it. Nicely done.” Flash congratulated the mare on her first time. Both Sunset and Twilight were now red with embarrassment. Twilight looked to Flash, she was thinking about punishing him but she thought of a better idea for this current issue.

Just a simple word was said from Twilight’s lips.

“Alpha.”

The word so simple was the trigger word for ‘takedown’ by Piercing and Golden. Twilight was facing Flash so he was the target. Piercing sprang into action and threw 3 darts to flash these weren’t lethal but they did can penetrate the skin.

The 3 darts Piercing launched at Flash were too quick for him to react or to see coming at him. Especially at this close proximity they can do such incredible damage. The first dart hit the base of his neck penetrating the skin and muscle tissue hitting the major artery. The second hit him in the side breaking through his wing completely and striking through his body with such a force that the dart ripped through his skin, muscle tissue and nerves, but what made this one more forceful is that the dart broke his wing and his ribs. The dart was lodged deep within his body as his wing was clamped between the dart itself and his own body. The third one hit him in the right hind leg, but just like the other dart this one shattered his leg bone.

In the blink of an eye Flash lost his life. He was sent flying through the kitchen and skidded to the other end of the room hitting a nearby wall. His blood trailed off the floor and wall that his corpse was.

Twilight and Sunset rushed to his aid. But it was no use he was gone from this earth bound pony world laid to rest by a simple trigger word that was meant to subdue the target but because it was at such close proximity the force of each dart was doubled therefore it meant immediate death.

Sunset tried to heal him but Piercing put a hoof on her shoulder. “It’s no use Princess, he’s gone.” She tried to hold back some tears but some managed to escape.

Sunset knew that he was right, Flash Sentry was gone. She looked to Twilight who was trying all her best to revive him but the situation was useless. She was crying over his dead body. It wasn’t supposed to happen this way. She should’ve known that the darts will kill him the closeness of both Piercing and Flash were to compact for it to just be a simple takedown. She put a hoof around Twilight embracing her as she wept for the loss of a good friend.

“It’ll be okay Twilight it was an accident no one knew that this will happen.” Both Twilight and Sunset never have seen death before in such a manor so it was only acceptable to act this way especially if the pony was close to you.

Sunset took Twilight to the throne room she asked Piercing and Golden to leave them alone for a while.

Piercing saluted and walked back to Golden who was examining Flash Sentry’s body from where he sat. “You do know you could’ve subdued him by hitting his flank 3 times. The paralysis potion within each dart wouldn’t took effect through the same means but just more slower.” Golden commented as he sat down.

Piercing looked back to the body. “I could’ve but that wasn’t how I was trained. I was trained to hit the neck, body and flank at once.”

“Understandable.”

Suddenly rushing into the kitchen came a standard royal guard of both Sunset and Twilight. Golden stopped him before he could enter the throne room.

“What’s your business?” Golden simply asked but the guard was trying to get passed him without answering or even speaking at all. Golden tripped him then pinned him to the floor with his bow drawn, the guard froze in place fearing the worst to come. “Listen here you little shit! You will answer my question until I reach some satisfactory results out of you do I make myself clear?” Golden pulled the bow back more to show that he was serious.

The guard got up and spoke firmly. “Sorry Major but I have to deliver this letter to Princess Sunset and Princess Twilight.” Piercing levitated the letter to him.

The guard tried to stop him but failed. “Major Piercing sir you can’t read that it’s extremely confidential and can only be read by the Princess to whom it was designated to.” The guard rushed at him to grab the letter but Golden tripped him once more.

“You will leave this area and resume your post we will deliver the letter ourselves.” The guard bowed to them and ran off not wanting to deal with them both.

Piercing opened the letter and read it to himself. “So Golden?” Piercing asked looking at him.

“Hmm?”

“How do you feel about traveling to the Griffon Empire?”
