Chapters You look over the horizon. See nothing but a wide range of old fashion H2O in the middle of this night. Nice of Twilight to make this small trip for you and her friends. Too bad this is a cruise ship filled with a bunch of other ponies touring along. Not even Twilight's new position could get her own boat or yacht. At least you and her friends have the VIP section. Take another sip of your scotch and swish the cup around. Woo! That's good. It gets the nerves all nice and loose. Hear the door to the lounge open.
"Hi Anon." Casually look back to see the animal caretaker.
"Hey Flutters." Fluttershy giggles. She always does when you address her that. Weird, but doesn't make it any less cuter. The sober mare trots over to you.
"How come you're out here?"
Take a small drink.
"Not my kind of music, even if that shitty singer is off."
"Now now, no need for that kind of language."
You couldn't help but snicker at that.
"Shy, we're grown adults here. Plus, there's not a single filly on this ship."
She kicks the hoof on the plank covered floor. "Well... I just... don't like it when you call out those harsh words."
"Yeah, well, it's just, not really my forte to socialize."
Flutters takes a seat on a patted chair next to a table. She notices the variation of bottles on there.
"Oh my. You must take a rest on these kinds of beverages."
"Psh, I'll have enough when I start puking."
The Pegasus pouts and crosses her arms. "That's the kind of attitude that I don't like. And who, in the right mind of this world, would need all of these?!"
"I like to experiment, alright?" You say after you finish off the rest of your beverage by guzzling it down. Walk over to the table and set the cup there. You reach over for a bottle of hard cider. A hoof rests between you and the neck of the bottle.
"I think you've had enough." You look over to Fluttershy. You've never seen a more serious mare in your entire Equestrian life here. Shit was more of a death threat, rather than a face for pleading that she normally gives out.
"Whatevs, such a shame to let good stuff stand there." You spit out as you take the chair on the opposing side of the table. "Anyway, why are you over here, when your friends are inside?"
She adjusts herself to be visible from the wall of liver killers. "Just like you, its not... really my place to be."
"I'm kind of wondering why you came along in the first place." You question while Flutters looses her serious look and goes back to being that scared mare. She rubs her hooves together and tries to make out words. "I'm sorry, what?"
"I just... ...be here." She mutters out.
"Flutters, you must speak up."
"I just... wanted to be here, OK?"
You rest the cup on the table. "Right, the mare with enough animals to start her own zoo, just happen to need a small vacation."
"Well... yes. Wh-what's so weird about that?"
You take a bottle from the table and open it. "Well, I think, you're telling a lie." Pour the clear, brain killing drink into the glass cup.
"I-I'm not! C-can't we talk about something else?"
Take a small sip. "Ahh, sure. How about... why can't you drink?" Just as she raises a hoof, the door opens wide.
"Heeey, guys! What's goin' on aroun' here?" See a tipsy Rainbow Dash walk in with a bottle.
"THAT'S why." Fluttershy points out.
"What, you're a bad drinker?"
Look back to Fluttershy. She swerves a bottle in her hooves. "I'm afraid that I am." You give out a small chuckle and shake the drink in the process. "What? C-can't we stop with just talking about me and go with something else?"
"Yeah! How about why you guys don' wan' any of this?" You and Fluttershy turn to see Rainbow Dash pouring the bottle all over herself. Once it's empty, she tries to give off a small dance, but instead falls from the drenched floorboards. The both of you laugh at the wasted speed whorse.
"H-*hic* hey now! That's not funny!" She tries to stand up, but slips once more and falls face first.
You and Flutters are kicking in your chairs for some air.
"Hey! What's going on?" Twilight is just in the party lounge and looks at you two. She looks to Rainbow and back to you.
"What? Just trying to talk about something, and Dash happen to volunteer." Twilight walks in and closes the door.
"Sure, let's follow with that. I just came by to say that we're going back to our rooms in 5 minutes." Twilight informs you. Raise your left wrist to your face and look at the watch. 1:55 A.M. "The two of you finish up with whatever, and I'll get Rainbow back to her suite." She uses her magic to cover up a part of Rainbow Dash. She then rests a hoof from Dash on the side of her. Hear loud snoring from a small distance. "Really?" Twilight barks. Dash then pukes on Twilight's dress, letting her release Rainbow. "Dash! Rarity just gave me this!"
"Yeah, well it wasn't your match, T-" More rich brown fluids flow out of the intoxicated sky blue mare.
"Augh! Well, she owes me something at the end of this." Twilight angrily comments as she picks up Rainbow. Once the door closes, it is back to you and Fluttershy. It's pretty awkward with what just happened. You can even see Flutters unsettling face, while she rubs her left arm.
"Soo... you... well... how old..."
"Do you really wanna know why I took this cruse?" sHETaken by surprise, you may as well go with it.
"Well, sure I guess. What is it?"
"HEY THERE PARTY PEOPLE!" A wild, amped up Pinkie Pie jumps from beside you.
You didn't even hear the door open. "How-"
"So, what's going on over here!?"
"Me and Flutter-" You say while turning over to see that Fluttershy's seat is empty. The table is shaking, along with the bottles clanging while they hit against each other. Reach under and feel something fuzzy. You try to grab whatever it is.
"EEP!"
"Whoops!" You shockingly state and bring your hand out. Fluttershy jumps out and heads back to her seat. She is immensely shading her face and tried to hide in her hair. "Sorry. Didn't know that..." Pinkie snorting laughs break out.
"It's fine, Anon." Fluttershy reassures you. Wow, you didn't know it was THAT big.
"Hey! Check out what I've found!" Pinkie then pulls out a bag of marshmallows and shoves them in your face.
"Okay. What about them?" You skeptically ask.
"I found them in the kitchen, and wow, what a place it was. I could easily make 12 dozen cupcakes in there, if there was enough flower, sugar, and-"
"Pinkie!"
"Oh, sorry. But, while I was looking around, I found a whole cabinet filled with these!" She waives them in your face.
"Aaand?" You demand a continuation.
"And we decided to play a prank!"
Sigh in disgust. "What kind of- wait, -we-?"
"That's right, Anonymous." It's Discord. You can hear him, but can't see him.
"Alright, where are you?"
"The answer takes you to a different state of mind. Why don't you take a drink?" Where is that mismatched fucker? But may as well take a guess. Everyone looks at the bottles on the table. You reach out to go for some AIRR. "Ah, ah, ah." That bottle launches like a rocket and into the sky. Look over the choices and see Buttwiser. "I know what you're looking at." The bottle implodes and ceases to exist. It reappears on your head and it's taken by Pinkie Pie. She chugs it down and rolls it on the floor.
"Just thirsty." Pinkie shrugs out. You see that there is 3 bottles left. Fuck this game. Reach out and grab two bottles. One feels like you are grabbing a radiator and the other is pure dry ice.
"Ow! Blistering bloody hell!" You shout out and release both of them.
"Are you OK?" Fluttershy speaks up.
"You're a lousy contestant." The bottles tip over and roll off the table. "But, that was a fun game, no?" Grab the bottle and look at the logo. The brand is named Mr. Chaos with him sporting a small dance.
"I've played your game. Now what kind of prank did you do?" The bottle then flashes to a scaly green foot. You let go and fly back in your chair.
"No massage? What a disappointment." He replies to your scare.
You stand up and brush away any dust clinging to your suit. "Alright, get to it. What did you do?" The bottle of AIRR fall back down and lands perfectly into Discords paw. It transforms into a bag of Marshmallows, 20% Rare! He tosses them to you. "What does this mean?!"
"Anon, my sweet child. Do you know what you do with them?"
"Uh, eat?"
"Ah, but what about on a special occasion?"
"What special occasion?" You continue questioning him. With his claw-like hand, it goes on fire. "I'm not following you."
The arm turns back to being a scaly bird claw like arm. "You ROAST them."
"Ah, like camping."
"Yes, like camping." He irritatingly comments.
"So, what does this have to do with anything?"
"Well, just like the kitchen, I was exploring the rest of the ship! When I was down in the boiler room, while eating a bag, guess who was there." Pinkie eyes Discord.
"He told me about this prank that can get everyone on this ship! It was a long and hard one, but we did it!" You grab Pinkie and shake her around.
"WHAT WAS THE PRANK!?" You shout out. Just then, a explosion is heard in one of the four funnels. It comes from the front of the ship, and notice it's erupting a white, puffy cloud. "You didn't." You say in awe and drop Pinkie Pie.
"Oh, but we did Nonny!" She says happily as you run to the wall restraining you to this small deck.
"And it begins." Discord then pulls out a bottle of Sombra Mezcal and drinks.
"Why?" You desperately ask Discord.
"Why not?" He replies. You look down blow to view the crowded group of ponies panic as they are being bathed in the sticky substance. Hear the laughs of Pinkie and Discord fill the air. You look over to Fluttershy. From the look of her covering her mouth with her hooves and those stretched out eyes, she is in pure shock.
"What a prank! I can't wait to tell this back home!" The glass door slides opens. Screams from the room exit out and into the air. There is a mare wearing a captains hat.
"You guys need to get out of here- YOU!" She points a hoof to Discord.
All eyes draw on him. "Ah, yes. Apparently, I'm on everyones 'no go' list from traveling."
"I can see why." You snarlingly reply.
"Forget that! Listen you all need to leave!"
"Why? Did the party end?"
"It's not that! All of you need to head for a lifeboat and abandon ship!"
"Wh- why? What's going to happen?" As Fluttershy finishes her question, an eruption shakes the boat and makes everyone on the floor fall down. Discord is the only one not effected from the shaking ground. Floating bastard. You get back up and look at the funnel. It's immersing fire on the exit.
"What's going on?! What was that!?" Fluttershy says while shaking on the floor.
"THAT was one of the machines breaking down and exploding. It will happen to the rest, so we must go!"
"What happens to the rest?"
"They're all filled with marshmallows. I wonder why."
You turn to give Discord a disapproved face, but he vanished. "Where'd he go?!"
"He left while you guys stared at the ring of fire!" Damnit Pinkie.
"What if we stay here?"
"...It's not a fate you want to witness. Let's go!" The captain runs off, followed by Pinkie.
"A-Anon!" You turn back to see Fluttershy stuck in fear limbo.
"Come on, we're getting out of here." Grab her and run out the glass door.
Over some time, you're passing the suites to get on a boat on the port side. The starboard has already dropped all of their boats, so there's only a few left. Keep on jogging with Fluttershy in your- Wait, why do you need to keep on carrying her.
"Fluttershy, do you want to get off?"
"I-" The hallways rumble. Your arms are now vibrating, but not by the aftershock. There goes another generator. As you stand there, the lights flicker and hear soft whimpering. Just ignore it and keep running with Fluttershy in your arms. Pass 3 rooms until you see Applejack and Rarity coming out of one.
"I'm tellin' ya, this is a waste of time!" Applejack shouts out.
"And I'm telling you, these are some of my dresses, MY WORK that won't be lost in the sea!" Rarity irritatingly says to Applejack acting like a mule with a stack of luggage on her. "Ah, Anonymous. Thank goodness you have arrived, I need help with carrying-"
"There's no time for this, we have to go, NOW!" You interrupt Rarity's bidding.
"What's the rush par-" The floor shakes once more. How many generators does this ship have?!
"That. That's the rush."
"But there must be plenty of boats around, correct?"
"Nope. None. One side of the ship dropped them all, so where heading to the left side of the ship."
"We must hurry, grab a suitcase or two so we can-"
"Stopping you right there, that will slow us down." You interrupt Rarity one more and hope she can get some reasoning into her. "Are these dresses really worth more than your life?!"
She actually thinks this over for a few moments.
"RARITY!" Almost everyone simultaneously shouts out.
"Oh, alright. But, once we get out of this all of you owe me so much."
"Fine, yeah, whatever. Let's go already!" You rush her.
Applejack unties the rope that's keeping the set of luggages down. "Thank ya' Ahnon."
"Later, let's leave."
"But-"
"No time!" You shout at AJ and run off with the two debating mares behind you.
You are on the deck. Many of the boats are already or being launched into the ocean. Rarity and Applejack start to run off to a boat, but are pushed off. "Sorry, we're filled." The stallion then pulls on the lever to release his evacuation. Stand there and watch them get rejected to every boat they plead to.
"Too late, gals!" The mare bluntly says.
"We're crowded!" Another mare yells to them.
"Find another boat." A stallion nudges them away.
You feel like everything is lost. "Anon..." This is the end. "Anon..." You always wanted to go down in a blaze of glory. "Anon!" Maybe wielded two swords while in a burning building, surrounded by enemies. Yeah, nice way to die. "Anon!" You finally pay attention to Fluttershy calling out your name.
"Hmm?"
"Oh, finally. I... I wanted to-" A violent rumble tosses you out of your balance and you fall down. Out of instinct, you toss Fluttershy to the side. You didn't want to use her as a pillow, so something clicked to follow that. You realize it was a terrible cost when you slam face first to the dirt covered boards. You weren't able to use your arms, just for sacrificing the safety of her. In some way, you actually regret it. You Start to get your focus back on track. You try to get the ringing out from the multiple explosions coming from all directions. The floorboards start to feel very warm. Some white substance starts to come through the tight wedged spaces.
"Anon!" That voice, it sounds like- "Anon!" Look over to see Twilight in a boat, trying to fight the captain. "On your feet, Anon! We are leaving!" Twilight orders.
"We can't stay here!" The captain shouts out.
"Not without my friends!" Twilight argues,
"Most of them are here! We need to go!" As they argue and fight, you get up and try to make a run for it.
"Anon..." You stop and look back to see Fluttershy's tail stuck on the floorboards.
"Oh no." Run over and free her. A volcanic burst of the floorboards from beside you reveals an upward shot of marshmallow goop. The pressure is too damn high on this cruse. "Come on." You tug on her but carry her in your arms. You jog with any reserved will power and head for the lifeboat.
"Jump for it!" Twilight yells out.
Just as you're about to, the floorboards beneath you give away as a cluster of the sweetness fires up. You are launched into the sky at rapid speeds, coated in the white monster. As you fight to get rid of this, you let go of Fluttershy in mid air. When you finally get your vision back on, you see that Fluttershy is inching away from you. You try to swim in the air- this is air, not water dumbass. Still acting it out and see that it is working. Once you reach her while free falling, check her current state. She is breathing, but looks like she's comatose. Shake her a little to get her back.
"Come on! Wake up!" You look down and see that the water is getting closer. "Oh, no no no NO!" You cover Fluttershy by centering her on your chest and ball up to cover her. You hold your breath as you are about to cannonball into the sea. When you slam through it and start to sink, you release Fluttershy to swim with one arm while carrying her with the other. Once the two of you are leveled, see that most of the boats are way off. Witness the ship is slowly being demolished. That blast did keep you from a distance from the damage zone. Only, if it was to the other direction, you would have been beside of the boats. They possibly can't spot you from this distance and Rainbow Dash can't fly out to help you, since she is a fucking drunk. You swim off to a long plank and hold onto it. It is better than to waste whatever energy you have left.
OK, think about your options. You are drifting in the sea with an unconscious mare & slowly falling asleep from how late it is and all that energy you wasted. Not to mention that alcohol is starting to drag you down. You toss Fluttershy in the air and allow her to land on the plank. It droops a little, but not enough to make it sink. Hold on with both arms and let the current swish you somewhere. You try to keep your eyelids open, but there's just no point. You are tired and weary from all the mishap from tonight. You start to sail away with a blacked out Fluttershy.
Hear the waves slowly rise above the shore. Some of the rising water enters your clothes and give you a small chill. Grunt from the hellish headache you can feel from last night. Open your eyes to be blinded by the morning light. As they adjust, see the tip of two, full grown coconut trees.
Wipe your face with a soaked palm and attempt to get up. Stumble a little from a -slight- hangover. Once you finally gain enough balance, you scan the environment. Clear day, tiny island, no bigger than 30 meters in diameter, some debris are on shore, and Fluttershy is- Wait, where is she? Look at the board you were washed away with, and noticed she's not on it. Maybe she woke up before you did and flied off for help. Or maybe she went too far and right now is drowning! Oh God, oh God! Wait, maybe she-
Something tackles you from behind and runs you to the sand. Shit! It might be a tiger! Struggle around to survive. It's pointless, their snuggles are too power- Wait, snuggling?
"Oh, Anon! I wasn't sure on what to do!" Nope, just Fluttershy. "Thank you so much for saving me, I didn't know if you were in a coma! But, I was sure that you could move, with all that puking while you slept." Look down on your name brand tuxedo to see various splotches, ranging from texture and wetness.
You don't remember them while abandoning the ship, so it's safe to accuse it was during your rest. "Yeah, it happens sometimes."
"You see mister? THIS is why you should stop."
"Like I said, I'll stop when I start puk-"
Ponder for a few moments on what you said last night. Fluttershy crosses her hooves with a side of "I told you so."
"Fine. And like it matters now. We're stranded on an island!" She lets go of the attitude and drops to the ground. "Hey, hey. What's wrong?"
"I... I circled around the island to look for any boats in the distance." Just by looking at her sobbing, you don't need to ask if there was any.
"Come on, you did your best."
"No, I didn't! I would have left the island to get help, but I'm afraid to leave!"
"Why? You're afraid we're too far?"
"Not just that, I don't want to leave you alone!"
Something inside of you drops. But whatever it is, it's now going up. "Flutters, I'm going-" Turn around and run. You trip and start to release whatever acids are left in you while you fall directly into a puddle of your failed creation from last night. Start to get back up to see her in a different pose.
"Alright, alright. I'll make a deal. If we get off of this island, the drinking will stop, for good."
"Pinkie promise?"
Swallow not only what's left in your mouth but also your pride. "Pinkie promise." She reaches out a hoof. You grab it and start to be yanked back up. Once your up, she just shakes your hand in agreement to the bet.
"Good. All we need to do is plan."
She's right, since the both of you might be here a while may as well start looking around. "Sure, let's look around this island. Maybe we can make something useful here."
She nods and walks in one direction. You head off to the landing site.
What feels like a few hours have gone by, and noting has been much of use. Just more boards from the crash, some oddly shaped metal lying around from the ship, and a crate. The crate has been a strong interest to you, so you've been trying to open the bastard for the entire time. Finally, after a sore elbow, fingernails reduced to nothing, and a possible broken rib, you give up.
"Any luck?" Fluttershy says as she approaches from behind you.
Look back to see Fluttershy with a messy mane.
"Nah, this bitch won't open."
"Remember our language, Anon?"
"It's a habit from where I'm from!" The streets were hard for you, man. Why else did you started to drink in the first place?
"If in need for such vulgar words are needed, use them. Not for when you feel like it."
"First my drinking, now my foul language? This is just too much. What are you, my mother?"
"By the looks of it, you never had one."
"And like you did?" Oh shit son, ya dun fucked up.
"Shy, I-I didn't mean."
She starts to sniffle at your snappy comeback. "Wh-why?!"
"It was just at the moment! I didn't mean it that way."
"Then what did you mean?"
Not much to run by. No point of winging it, so tread carefully.
"I just, had a rough time that's all."
"Was that, b-before the trip, or during it?"
"It's not that. It's just where I was raised."
She tries to hold back tears, but they still flow. "What... what happened?"
After some time, you told her your childhood. You were raised in a shitty apartment, being adopted by a mom fueled by drugs, eventually being sold to a gang. You were able to escape by ratting them out and fortunate enough that all of them were killed in a standoff.
"Oh... I... I'm so sorry."
"It's fine. It really is."
"But, how did you get into Equestria?" Fluttershy questions.
"That is the one thing that I still can't believe. I was 17 when that happened, so they had to take me back to the orphanage. I ran away and lived in bathroom stalls or abandoned buildings for a year. It was hard, but I eventually quit school and took up small or odd jobs for a few years. When I was heading to the bathroom one day, I found a door that was boarded up. Curiousity took the better of me, so I teared it down to find the door. The poorly black written words said Interdimensional Madness . I took it as a joke and... the rest is history."
"Wow... I... That's just... It's a nightmare."
"Yeah, I'm much more happier here. It's just, nice to have friends like you."
She blushes and sways a hoof. "Oh stop it."
"No, I'm serious." You look at her straight in the eye. "You're amazing. Someone who is so kind and forgiving that doesn't even expect to be re-payed. You're really more than the "Element of Kindness" everyone keeps on giving you."
She blushes fiercely. "N-no, you're just saying that."
You take a knee and hold her hoof. "I'm telling on how it's all true."
Her gaze goes deep into your own eyes, just as you give back to her. She slowly takes her hoof away. "T-Thank... you."
"It's the least I can do." You look over to your left wrist and notice that the watch is still operational. Right now is 6:43 P.M.. You look off to the ocean and watch the sun setting in the horizon.
"We need to rest. The earlier the better." She nods and walks off. "Wait, where are you going?"
"While you were focused on the crate, I made a little camp for us." You follow her to where she could be going with. See that there's a bundle of wood in a circle of rocks. Aside is a large metal part sticking out of the ground, costumed to act as a tent.
"Woah, nice going Flutters." She gives off a small giggle, along with a growl. "Was it that harsh?"
She reaches down to rub her tummy. "Oh, sorry. I just haven't been able to eat anything for a while.
Another grumbling is heard. During this one is sounded, you can feel it coming from your own stomach.
"You're not the only one." She chuckles and walks over to the "tent." Fluttershy gets under the metal part and rests on the leaves.
"Come on. There's enough room for the both of us, and I don't want you to freeze out there." You may as well. Get on all fours and crawl inside. Curl up beside her and make a small mound to make as a pillow. More grumbling is heard as the two of you try to sleep. As soon as those crates open, you will use them for food. Some fishing gear to get some bass or a harpoon gun to catch a whale or shark. That food could last the both of you for a while, IF, Fluttershy is capable to allow you to do that against her wishes to not harm an animal. Desperate times, right? Whatever is in that crate, you're determined to open it. For now, you rest on the warm sand.
"3 days! 3 days working on this stupid crate and not even a hint of damage left on it!" You scream out. You are on the edge of starvation from this constant determination for a fucking wooden box.
"A-Anon, I r-really think y-you should reconsider this." Fluttershy flies over to you while holding a coconut.
"This damn box will be open!" You continue to scream as you get closer and hug the box. "Tell me, box. Why? Why are you so stubborn? What mysteries are hidden beneath your oak chafed layers? Hmm? TELL ME!"
Fluttershy raises the a coconut and tries to hide behind it. "P-please Anon. S-stop this."
Your attention turns to the cowering mare. "Oh I'll stop. As soon that I found out what's inside! Now tell me, WHAT'S IN THE BOX?!"
She drops the coconut and flies over to hide on top of the crate. "Anon, t-this isn't like you. You must stop this and... what is this?" She grabs a rope from the top of the crate and reveals it's existence.
You stare at what you hope it could be. "Quick, hand it over." She lowers it to you. Grab & pull down with all your weight and remaining energy. Laugh maniacally while you hear the nails giving out.
"Anon, w-will you stop this behavior w-when your done?"
"Yeah, sure. Just as soon as-" The side gives out and releases it's containments. "At last! It's... tools and kitchen utilities?" You bend down to grab a pot in one hand and a hammer in the other.
"Well, at least we have what's inside, right?" Fluttershy says to lighten the reward. You fall on your knees and cry in shame. Fluttershy gets off of the crate and stands right next to you. "Don't be too hard on yourself." She rests a hoof on your shoulder. "You finally got it open and that's what you always wanted."
"I wanted something USEFUL, not this crap that won't do anything!" You hear her walk away as you continue crying in your hands. She comes back with that coconut she dropped. You let the coconut poke you a couple of times. After a while, you look up and see a cheery smile on her dirty face. Suddenly you get an idea. You drop the tools and hug her. She doesn't make a sound and only returns the hug. Let go of her and look around for the tools that come into mind.
"What are you looking for?"
"Aha!" You exclaim while grabbing out the hammer you were holding in one hand and a screwdriver in the other. "The right tools to crack open our lunch." You run over to Fluttershy and sit down. "Quick, set the face of the coconut up." She does so and backs away. Rest the screwdriver in one of the hairy oval eye. Twist and jab it to make a hole. Once done, raise the coconut and drink. "Yes! Finally!" Keep on draining the juice from the coconut. Once you're sure it's empty, rest it on a piece of wood. Throw away the screwdriver, and grab out the hammer. Rest the head over the coconut. Raise your arm up, and thrust it down. It makes solid contact, causing the coconut to split into two. "IMMUNITY!"
You go over your fourth coconut by scraping off the insides with a spoon. You watch your partner digging deep into her fifth coconut. It's insane on how they need more food than you, even if they are smaller. But still, doesn't mean it's no excuse to survive. Now the both of you have food, and that's all that matters for now.
"Anon?"
"Yeah Flutters."
"M-May I have, another?" She asks while pushing the empty coconut away. You reach over the stack of coconuts Fluttershy picked out.
