PROLOGUE
“I’m sorry Rare’, but this just isn’t working out,”
Rarity jaw dropped lightly, her pupils shrinking to such a small size it seemed as if they were just pinpricks on her irises.
“W-What do you mean it’s not working out? We’ve only been dating for five weeks now!” She stammered, trying not to yell.
Across from her, Flash Sentry stood, leaning against the alley wall with his hands shoved down his pockets. He showed nothing but apathy, his eyes glazed over, mouth curled into a frown. Flash had been taking her out on a ‘date’ to Sugar Cube Corner, but midway said they needed to talk and took Rarity to the alley.
Her silver knuckles turned white as she clutched her purse tighter. Rarity was relieved he didn’t try raping her, but still this wasn’t good. Not at all.
“It’s just if me and my band are gonna get famous, I can’t be dating people like you,” He shrugged.
“What do you mean?”
“Well, you’ve been gettin’ awfully fat.”
His words were like a gunshot through her brain, leaving her standing there in pure shock. She didn’t even blink as he walked off as if nothing happened.
Soon, tears began to run down her cheeks, and Rarity began to ran off in the opposite direction sobbing.
-
“Scootaloo, what is that?”
“What is what?”
“That!”
Scootaloo looked in the direction Sweetie Belle was pointing, down at the bowl of gunky, bubbly mash potatoes.
“Mash potatoes, obviously!” She scoffed.
Applebloom walked over, holding a tray of perfectly made cookies. “Uh, what’s that?” She pointed to the cup of dark brown, boiling liquid in Sweetie’s hands.
“Cereal!”
They stared at her for a moment, before the little cowgirl shook her head. “Anyways, want a cookie?”
The others nodded, reaching out to snatch a treat.
Suddenly Rarity burst through the door, sobbing hysterically. “Oh Sweetie, I had the most horrible day!” She walked to her little sister and squeezed her tightly in her arms. “Hold me.”
“Uh, Rarity? What happened?”
“F-Flash dumped me!” She wailed.
The crusaders all rose a brow, going from curious and concerned to unamused.
Rarity wiped her eyes, turning to Applebloom. “Are those sugar cookies?”
“Uh yeah-”
“Thank you!” Suddenly, the whole tray had been swiped from her hands, as Rarity ran to her room.
The girls all looked at eachother..
“So, how bout we make popcorn instead?” Scootaloo offered, seeing her fellow crusaders ready to murder Rarity for kidnapping their cookies.
-
Rarity slammed the door behind her and put the tray on the bed, sniffling softly. “I can’t believe he’d do this to me,” She murmured, popping a cookie into her mouth as she started to disrobe.
Once she was only in her underwear, she popped a few more of the little biscuits into her mouth and walked to the mirror. She looked down towards her waist. She’d have the body of a top model, if not for the doughy roll of fat hanging over her waistline.
Rarity cringed, pinching the fat. “How haven’t I noticed this before?”
Tears began to sprout in her eyes.
“Oh god, have the others noticed too? Why haven’t they said anything about this?!” Rarity exclaimed to herself, chomping down on another cookie. “What if I can’t lose weight? What if I never get another boyfriend again?!” She ate more and more until all there was left to grab were itty bitty crumbs.
Licking the crumbs off of her fingers, she stood up and walked to the door, “I hope there’s still some ice cream left..” She murmured.
CHAPTER ONE
“Finally! School’s over,” Sweetie Sighed in relief, slinging her backpack over her shoulder as she strolled down the hallway, dodging other students running by about to knock her over.
The last few school days had been a bit more stressful than she had hoped for. Ever since Rarity had started skipping school, everyone went to Sweetie for an inside scoop. But she didn’t have much to share, Rarity rarely left her room when Sweetie was in home, and the only signs she did leave the room was when the kitchen lost another five tubs of ice cream.
Rarity’s group of friends had been especially nosy as well. Fluttershy had been an absolute wreck, assuming Rarity had some sort of disease. Applejack was acting all suspicious, even tried following her and the crusaders to Sweetie’s once to see what they had been hiding.
Thankfully, Opalescence took care of that quite quickly and quite violently.
Rainbow Dash was the worst though! She had done everything from interrogating Sweetie Belle with Pinkie Pie playing ‘good cop’, to being all Sherlock Holmes and barging into her house searching for Rarity! Opalescence, once again, saved the day.
Pinkie Pie was a bit better though, assuming Rarity just was sick and would keep sending balloons, cards, and sweets to help her feel better! Sweetie didn’t know if it worked much, all she knew was getting those sweets meant the fridge would be less empty that night.
And Sunset just assumed she was sick, but still as concerned as everyone else. In fact, she was most level headed about it, the only one actually trying to calm everyone down about the issue.
Sweetie looked around her as she got to her front door. No sign of Rainbow Dash, or Applejack, or Pinkie Pie. Sighing in relief, she walked inside feeling a bit better her big sister’s stupid friends or admirers weren’t on her tail.
“Rarity I’m home!” She called out, throwing her bag on the couch.
“Hey Sweetie Belle.”
Her eyes went wide. That was the first thing Rarity had said to her in almost two weeks! She rushed in direction of the voice, finding her big sister in the kitchen.
“Rarity?! What’re you doing out of your-” She stopped in her tracks, gasping loudly.
“Oh my god, Rarity! You’re huge!”
-
Rarity groaned softly to herself as she sat at the dinner table for breakfast, slouching in her seat. She didn’t have a fun night, with Sweetie treating her like a complete child, acting so over dramatic about her weight gain. But she meant well. Kind of reminded her of herself at times.
“Morning Rare’!”
Sweetie walked over, carrying a plate of burnt toast and eggs, putting it down in front of her bigger sister.
“Eat up!”
Rarity poked at the toast with her fork, almost throwing her plate in the sink seeing the inside of the toast crumble and blacken like wood in a fireplace.
“Do you think your friends will notice your weight gain?” Sweetie asked as she took the plate away and dumped out the food.
Rarity pouted, raising a brow at her. “What do you think?”
That was a definite yes. Rarity had gained maybe, eighty- a hundred pounds during her week long binge. Her curvy hourglass figure was now just a ball. Her gut was the size of a yoga ball, drooping over her waist line hiding her skirt and thunder thighs almost completely. Her arms were almost as fat as her legs, but just as soft, especially her sausage fingers. Her face had rounded out as well, with her plumper lips and extra chin.
Her shirt barely covered her gut, she was getting a terrible wedgie from her skirt, and her shoes squeezed her fat little feet so tightly they began to feel numb. Maybe she should have went out for bigger clothes before going to school today.
“Let’s get going!” Sweetie grinned, grabbing her backpack and ran towards the door.
Rarity sighed, slinging her bag over her shoulder, slowly waddling after her.
-
“What is Rarity hiding?!”
Rainbow Dash roared, rage consuming her thoughts as she bounced her soccer ball on her head. She let it fall to the ground, before stomping it flat.
“Rainbow Dash calm down! Rarity’s probably just sick, and doesn’t want to get us sick too,” Sunset said.
“But what if she’s dying?” Fluttershy squeaked.
“Or dead!” Pinkie exclaimed, a bit too enthusiastically.
Pinkie’s enthusiasm about the statement, caused Flutters to break down in tears, sobbing loudly.
Applejack groaned, rubbing her forehead, “You had to get the waterworks going, didn’t ya Pinkie?”
Pinkie frowned, “I didn’t mean to!”
Sunset sighed, “Anyways, I’m sure she’s fine,” She smiled gently at Fluttershy, putting a hand on her shoulder.
“Indeed I am darling.”
All five girls looked up, eyes wide.
“Rarity!” Fluttershy grinned, running over to her friend and tackled her to the ground, hugging her tight. “Oh thank god, I thought you were dying,”
Rarity tried to hide her groan in pain, patting the thinner girl’s back gently.
“Well you don’t have to worry about that anymore,” She smiled, “Now can I please get up?”
“Oh, sorry,” She blushed, holding out her hand to her as she stood.
The plump teen grabbed her hand, attempting to pull herself up, but only managed to pull Fluttershy back down.
“You look different, did you gain weight?” Pinkie asked sweetly, looking over the two teens laying on the grass.
Rarity laughed nervously. “Maybe a little.”
Applejack crossed her arms smirking, as she pulled the two girls off of their butts and onto their feet. “Obviously alot.”
Rainbow Dash, bit her lip, trying to contain her giggles before bursting into laughter. “Shit man, you’re such a fatass!” She snickered, putting her hands over her abdomen. “Oh god, it’s so funny it hurts!” She wheezed out.
“Rainbow Dash!” Sunset smacked the back of her head, “Don’t be rude!” She scolded, her expression softening as she turned back to Rarity. “I’m so sorry about that Rare’,”
Rarity sniffled, holding back tears, “It’s fine darling, believe me,” She forced a smile.
“Ah, don’t be a teary eyed, Rarity! Rainbow Dash is just a horrible person with no heart, just ignore her,” Pinkie gave her a hug.
Rainbow scowled, “Hey! That’s not true,”
Fluttershy bit her lip, “It kind of is…”
The bell rang loudly, and the group started to head into the building.
-
First class Rarity had was History.
She waddled in, head hanging low as she could feel everyone stares burning her skin. She got to her desk, trying to wriggle her way into the seat. She managed, but not without it loudly groaning under her weight, making Rarity turn red as an apple.
Everyone turned to her, silence filling the room. It was interrupted by a long creak.
Not long after the creak stopped, the chair broke underneath her.
The room broke into laughter, while Rarity broke into tears.
“The Great and Powerful Trixie has a question to ask you, Rarity Belle!” The magician announced, being over dramatic.
Trixie approached her slowly, holding out her hand, “Are you alright?” She frowned.
Rarity shook her head, taking her hand, but Trixie wasn’t strong enough and got pulled onto the fashionista.
-
Next was Science.
Thankfully the stools held up better, but it didn’t help she was stuck sitting between Blueblood and Pinkie Pie.
Blueblood kept looking at her, making disgusted faces towards her and occasionally talking about her to the boys next to him.
Someone during the middle of class farted, and Blueblood was quick to blame Rarity.
“Rarity, we’re supposed to discuss the different types of gas, not give the class an example of them,” He smirked.
Pinkie scowled, cracking her knuckles as she walked up to Blueblood, “Do you even know what kind of gas it was?”
His face turned white as a sheet. “H-Hydrogen?”
“Methane you douche!” Pinkie yelled her battle cry, before tackling the pretty boy to the ground.
Rarity covered her face, not wanting to watch the destruction of Blueblood’s face or how scary Pinkie’s angry face was.
-
And finally, PE.
Rarity stood there in her track outfit, standing as tall as she could but still was sweating under the bright lights above. Rainbow Dash stood next to her, certainly looking a lot more confident.
“Don’t worry Rarity, I’m sure you’ll lose a little weight during this,” She smirked, nudging Rarity’s gut with her elbow.
“Shut up Rainbow Dash,” She hissed, stomping on her foot.
Soon, they were all lined up, ready to run the track.
The whistle squealed, and they were off!
All except for Rarity, jogging slowly behind all the others, her body bouncing and jiggling with every step she took. By the time all the others had finished the race, she wasn’t even at the halfway mark yet.
Everyone groaned, not too happy they’d have to wait for her to cross the finish line.
“This’ll take years! An actually blimp could go faster!” Rainbow whined, thinking Rarity couldn’t hear her from so far away.
Oh but Rarity did, and it was hard to get her friend’s harsh words out her head as she jogged over.
-
Rarity sighed softly, sitting a bit farther than normal from the others, poking her meatloaf at the other end of the table.
“Can you believe her? She took two hours to jog, and we couldn’t even go to our other classes!” Rainbow scowled, “Bitchy blimp made us late! Now I got two detentions, thanks to Rarity!”
“She did cause a lot of trouble between be and Blueblood,” Pinkie murmured, wiping the blood from pretty boy’s stupid face off of her hands.
“Look, obviously Rarity’s weight gain has been causing trouble,” Applejack said, “Maybe we oughta help her lose it, get back to her old figure! Then everything will get back to normal and we can forget that this ever happened,”
Fluttershy nodded, “I agree with Applejack, I can help her with dieting!”
“I can help her at the gym!” Rainbow grinned.
“Some hard work around the farm should slim her down,” Applejack smiled.
“I can help her binge on sweets when she gets ‘a day off’ from all that stuff!” Pinkie squealed in delight. They all looked at her, scowling, while she just sat there confused. “What?”
Sunset shook her head, “Anyways, in no time, we’ll get our old Rarity back!” She smiled.
Rarity felt a sharp pain in her chest listening to them talk, and she began to stuff the meatloaf down her throat.
-
Vinyl bopped her head to the beat of the song running through her headphones, walking in time as she grabbed her lunch, narrowly dodging Snips and Snails roughhousing next to her in line. As she payed for her meal, she had a look around for a seat.
However, what caught her eye wasn’t an open spot, but the obese girl who had saved the school twice now, but at smaller sizes before.
‘What was her name again? Rare? Radiance?’ She thought in her head.
Vinyl snapped her fingers, finally remembering, ‘Oh right - Rarity! Guess I should see what’s goin’ on.”
As she walked towards her, she could better hear her friends talking. She scowled in distaste. Really? The saviors of the school were so pretentious, they couldn’t just accepts their friend gained so much weight? How distasteful.
‘Well no wonder she’s so upset then! Her friends are assholes!’ The DJ thought, getting closer and closer.
She said down across from Rarity, who was too busy eating to notice, until she felt a slender finger press into her shoulder. She looked up, teary red eyes meeting a pair of magenta shades.
Now she wasn’t too good with words, but she knew she had to say something to cheer her up, even if only a little. Vinyl didn’t think and just held out a small little bag of chips.
“Want some chips?”
Rarity blinked, looking from the bag, to her glasses, then back to the back, before taking it gently.
“Thanks.”
“No problem,” Vinyl smirked, her heart thumping loudly as she got a smile in return.
CHAPTER TWO
-
“Thank you for coming with me to shop Sunset, I really don’t wanna be shopping alone like this…” Rarity murmured softly, her eyes focused down on their shadows, hiding from the sun beating down on their backs. She hated how big it was, compared to Sunset Shimmer’s itty bitty shadow.
Sunset smiled, “No problem Rarity! I’m sure we’ll find something in your size- what is your size anyways?”
She shrugged as they entered the mall. Sunset would simply follow behind Rarity, silent as she noticed a lot of weird looks being directed towards them. The fashionista took a pretty long time choosing her outfits, and by the time Sunset actually looked over to see if she was done, she was off to the dressing room.
Rarity took the one dressing room farthest from the cashier’s and biggest since she wasn’t sure the usual rooms she changed in would suffice.
She slipped out her clothes, leaving her in her lacey bra and panties.
First, a pink dress with long, silky white sleeves. She had been saving up money for it a while, but never got the chance to wear it before.
But as she slipped it on, she realized what a hog she looked like it in.
The dress was meant to go over her knees, but only made it halfway down her thigh. It pressed tightly against her gut , and she could feel seams stretching to allow the fat to breath. Her sleeves go only cover so much of her upper arm, appearing much shorter than they’re meant to be.
She quickly took the dress off, but the damage had been done.
Next was a short, black dress. It was meant to expose alot of skin, but oh when she put it on, she showed much more skin than required. The dress barely covered her gut, and where the back was exposed, her rolls weighed down the zipper and broke it completely.
Rarity threw the dress down over the other.
Soon, she found none of her choices fit, and the ruined dressed began to pile up. Panicking, she looked around for a place to hide them. Noticing there was some space between the mirror and the wall, she shoved the clothes in, making sure they were just far enough in they wouldn’t be noticed at first glance.
Rarity strolled out there as fast as she could without looking suspicious, whistling nervously to herself as she went back to looking for clothes that would fit her much better.
-
“Come on Rare’, let’s get you from a size 300 back to a size 3,” Rainbow joked, dragging the larger girl behind her by the wrist.
“But I don’t want to go to the gym…” Rarity whined.
Rarity was hoping for a short jog around town, she didn’t put on her new track suit for nothing. And the public gym certainly was not the fashionista’s favorite place. Every time she went there before, there would always be one or two boys who’d try to flirt with her.
But as her multicolored friend pulled her into the building, the boys did not react the same as usual. Some just made this horrible face and walked the other way, others tried to avoid eye contact but still commented on her weight, and the rest just kept working out, not paying her any attention.
She didn’t know whether to be happy they weren’t flirting with her or to cry at the way they treated her now.
Seeing Rainbow Dash walk off to the weights, Rarity decided to just use a treadmill. That should be easy, right?
Well as she took her first few steps, she realized she was very wrong.
She could feel her body jiggle faster than she managed to waddle on the machine, and sweat already coated her body like a second skin. Panting heavily, she tried turning it down a bit, but her fat little finger pressed both the minus and plus button. And we all know fate favored making her go faster.
She pressed down again, a bit harder. She went from level 5 to 12, forcing her to waddle faster and faster.
Rarity pressed down one last time, getting the button stuck. The numbers went up so fast- 12,13,14,15,16…
She was in a full on sprint, but time seemed to slow down as she stepped on her shoe lace, and flew back into the wall. Everyone looked up, feeling the small earthquake she caused due to her landing.
She looked up and smiled nervously, “Ehehe, oops…”
-
Rarity sighed softly as she walked down the sidewalk, looking down at the concrete below her. Today so far had been humiliating, she just needed a cookie, or maybe a piece of cake. As she neared Sugar Cube Corner, an odd feeling of dread washed over her as she saw Flash Sentry through the window.
She wasn’t as filled with as much hate as she should have been, I mean come on, Flash was the person who dumped her. Which caused Rarity’s reaction to binge and eat the feelings away. But still, hate was replaced with fear. The fear he’d make some snarky comment on her weight.
Still, she walked into the little shop, keeping her eyes on the ground.
She felt so anxious and so nervous she didn’t realize she walked right into a certain DJ, who fell onto Flash Sentry in front of her.
He yelped in surprise, spilling his coffee onto his shirt. Grumbling, her turned around to face Rarity, before looking down at Vinyl on her knees. He grabbed her hand and helped her up, but not without glaring at the fashionista. “Why don’t you go watch where you’re going?”
“I-I’m sorry, it was an accident-” Rarity backed away.
He scoffed, “Or were you just too focused on getting food for that stupid gut of yours to pay attention?”
Vinyl frowned as she watched the two yell at eachother, opening her mouth to say something when Pinkie Pie stepped between them.
“Hey, calm down you two! Why don’t we just relax and share some donus~?” Pinkie smiled brightly, holding out a box of glazed donuts, her smile being wiped away when Rarity snatched it from her grasp and stormed out the door. “Uh, Rarity? They’re not just for you…”
But Rarity wasn’t listening as she marched down the sidewalk, stuffing her mouth with the pastries, angry as can be.
