The Spark
The idea
Previous ChapterNext ChapterJason stared at the designs for the finished grappling hooks. He couldn't stop thinking about what Rainbow said to him, and what happened yesterday day. It was his sixteenth birthday and she wanted to give Jason some advice. She said 'what ever you do, make sure you enjoy it. I can't stand seeing you unhappy, I love you.' Those were the words that rang in Jason's head, the images of what happened were ingrained into his mind.
~ 3/13/15 9:00 pm - yesterday ~
Pinkie was poking Applejack in the back, Applejack stepped forward to give Pinkie some room. She tripped over Fluttershy's foot and knocked Jason out of the eighth story window. Jason shot his grappling hook at the building across the street, the projectile drove itself into the stone wall and held itself in. Jason swung down to the ground and stopped on the sidewalk across the street. He retracted the grappling hook and turned around to see the reactions of the five girls.
~ 3/14/15 3:00 pm - present ~
Jason got to thinking, if he could swing around using these things. Maybe he could use them for other purposes, first he would make a set of claws for his hands. The last thing he wants is to try to grip onto a building and slip, Jason decided the claws will sink into the wall of the building. This will allow him to climb, it will also help him with free running. Next he will make suit, probably spandex. He wants something skin tight so he can't get caught on things while climbing. What should be his name? 'The flying penis? No, not that.' He thought. He can't just swing around stopping crime and give his real name. 'Hi, I'm here to kick your ass because your committing a crime, oh by the way my name is Jason Carloan! Just thought you would want to know so you can plot some revenge on me.' He thought to himself as a joke. He decided the name could wait, he has more important things to worry about. first things first, He needs claws.
Jason pulled out a big piece of steel sheet metal and his cutting torch. He cut ten acute triangles out of the metal, he took them to his grinder where he can start sharpening them. He slowly slid the edges across the spinning wheel, he stopped to gaze at the sharpened claw he just worked on. The blade gleamed in the light from his desk lamp.
After an hour, Jason not only had the claws, he had an apparatus to retract them. The claws are connected to the grappling hooks so they have a secure point to attach to the body. Jason got to sewing and made a spandex suit, it was black and it had pissed looking, red eyes. It also had a big sharp toothed grin.
"Hell yeah! Let's go kick some ass." Unfortunately, the only ass that got kicked was Jason's. Jason was good at one on one combat, he wasn't good at fending off multiple people swinging at the same time. The only thing he knew how to do was to do a split in mid air and knock two people out. As Jason lay there on the concrete in the ally, his attackers were slowly getting closer. They all pulled knives from their pockets.
"Any last words kid?"
"Yeah, I should have trained a bit more." Jason said. A figure with a hood on and a black trench coat landed in front of Jason, he was facing jasons attackers.
"Who is this faggot?" One of the thugs said. The man pulled up a rusty, metal fold up chair and sat on it backwards. One of the men lunged at the hooded figure, the figure quickly yanked the chair out from under himself. He smashed the metal chair against the thugs head. He tilted his hand backward and a hidden blade revealed itself. He stabbed the thug in the throat and stood back. Another two lunged at him, he picked up a metal pipe and took the two men out with on swing. The figure looked right at the last two thugs, they dropped their knives and ran.
The hooded man started climbing up the building next to him, Jason got up and followed. The hooded figure perched himself on the corner of a building.
"Hey, thanks man. You saved my skin." Jason said.
"Why are you following me kid?" Jason stopped in his tracks.
"Well, because you seem to be good at this."
"So you mean your going to shadow me?"
"No, I was actually wondering if you would train me. I'm good at 1v1 fights, not so much 1v10." The figure turned around and removed his hood.
"And why should I train you?"
"Because we do the same thing, we fight for what's right, and I'm new to this." Jason said, he removed his mask.
"Jesus, your only fifteen! Why would I train a fifteen year old to risk his life?"
"Hey, your only seventeen and your doing it!"
"I'm eighteen dumb ass." The figure walked right passed Jason. Jason got an idea.
"Alright, I'll just continue to do what I'm doing and get myself killed because I don't have the proper training." Jason said, he turned to walk off.
"Wait a minute kid. I'll train you on one condition, we don't tell anyone about what the other looks like. And once I've taught you everything, we go our separate ways, ok?" Jason smiled and turned around.
"You've got a deal." Jason shook the mans hand. "So what will be my first lesson?"
"The best way I've found to train a person Is to start with a hand to hand fight. This will allow me to see what you know and adjust your training regiment. I'm going to stand here and block, you have to try to hit me."
"Easy enough." Jason threw a punch and the man stepped to the side, tripping Jason win his foot.
"Lesson one, never assume something will be easy. Always give it all you've got. Continue." Jason did two back hand springs and tried to round house kick the hooded figure. The figure grabbed his leg, stopping his kick.
"Hey, I never got your name." Jason said. The figure released jasons leg.
"Garret, the names Garret." Jason maneuvered around a lot and suddenly tried to sweep Garret's feet out from under him, Garret did a simple jump over jasons leg.
"Well, my name is Jason." Jason started swinging and kicking at his fastest pace, Garret had no problems dodging or blocking jasons attacks.
"I know who you are, your father owns a billion dollar company." Jason stopped attacking for a second.
"Hey, Why do you look like your wearing an assassins creed costume?" Jason asked.
"Not everyone can afford to make original costumes. besides, I like to think of myself as an assassin. Well, I've concluded that you have about as much experience as someone who took karate, gymnastics and Kung fu."
"Is that bad?" Jason asked.
"No, but that stuff is very basic. You can learn a lot more. Also I noticed when you tried to kick me in the face, you had trouble balancing on one leg."
"Well no duh, you had my other one in your hands."
"That's no excuse, that's why the first thing I'm going to teach you is balance. When your done, you will be able to balance on a thin metal pole using your index finger."
"Holy shit, people can actually do that?" Garret walked over to the fire escape and did a hand stand on one index finger. Jason was surprised that he didn't fall off the narrow pipe.
"That answer your question?"
"Hell yeah it does." Jason said.
"Great, let's begin."
