Assault on the Castle

As the last of the changelings were exterminated Syth ordered all units to be ready for an assault on the castle. He went over his plan with Radec and the soldiers, the plan was to have snipers around all high points both outside and inside the castle to give maximum cover fire. Due to the fact that there were so many weak glass windows the bullets from the sniper rifles could take out a whole window with one shot which would give Syth and the rest of his soldiers a bit of an advantage. Razer was tasked with sneaking in the throne room with some infiltrators while the castle would be under siege to locate the queen while in disguise. The new objective was to capture or neutralize the queen and rescue the civilians that she had kept hostage, hopefully this queen wouldn't do anything too drastic or stupid that would cost more lives. Syth was hoping there could be a way to settle this without anymore bloodshed, while he interrogated those changelings he found out alot about them and why they did this invasion but it didn't justify that they would have probably raped some of these ponies if the Helghast hadn't intervened. Still he could relate them to the Helghast the only reason they attacked Vekta was because Helghan was losing resources and was too hostile to grow any pure food, Vekta however was pure, luscious, and for lack of a better term clean they came to the planet in hopes to find a way to ether help Helghan or to colonize it. The only thing that stopped them was the ISA, through stupid debating and politics the Helghast and the ISA started a bloody war that cost both sides a great amount of lives. Had it not been for Visari all those years ago the Helghast would been decimated long ago.

Syth made it his personal objective to stop this conflict one way or the other, but he hoped that the ponies and the changelings could settle their differences in a peaceful way rather than that of bloodshed he didn't want to have what happened to the Helghast and the ISA happen here to them. As the rest of the soldiers got in positions Syth contacted lieutenant Alex who was overseeing the camp that they sent the ponies to for food and medical attention "lieutenant give me an update on the civilians that were sent to the camp."

"They're doing fine so far, although they are a little scared of me and the rest of the soldiers they seem to warming up to us but there are some snobbish nobles here that I really want to shoot in the head."

"Remember your orders are to make sure they're safe but should they get to out of line lay down the line and remind them who saved them from a fate worst than death that should shut them up."

"Roger, I'll keep you posted" the signal cut out as Syth made his way to Radec to finalize the rest of the plan. Radec wanted to lead the assault into the throne room and personally see to it that either the changelings surrendered or kill the queen in front of all her people to make an example out of them. The plan was simple, move a large battalion through the main hall while being covered by sniper fire from the outside and reach the throne room. Now to some people this would be suicide but due to the fact that the changelings weaponry was very primitive and that their magic couldn't get through the Helghast's armor lowered the threat level.

Syth approached Radec as he finished giving orders to Victor, who would be in charge of the snipers around the castle, Radec then turned to speak with him "it seems everything is in pace all I need from you is to accompany me while the rest of the soldiers move towards the throne room and keep an eye out for any changelings that will slip by and try to kill me" Syth understood what he was saying if one changeling got past them and saw Radec it wouldn't take a genius to figure out he was leading the assault.

"I understand father I will keep my eye out for any changelings that get past the battalion and kill them if they get to close" Syth said as he loaded his rifle and prepared for the assault.

The door to the castle was blown open as the battalion of Helghast soldiers marched towards the throne room. The battalion had four standard troopers leading behind them were two tacticians walking alongside a heavy trooper, behind them were forty shock troopers with different weapons ranging from the standard issue assault rifle to the Sta-11 SMG. In the back guarded by Syth was Radec walking with his hands behind his back and with a fearless posture. Most changelings that saw the battalion ran but others stayed to fight, they were gunned down the second they showed a weapon. As the Helghast made it halfway down the hall they were ambushed by what looked to be the last of the changeling army many of them were on walls, the floor, and even the ceiling.

"OPEN FIRE!!!!" Radec commanded

All hell broke loose as the changelings and Helghast engaged each other, the heavy trooper moved to the front and unleashed a large barrage of bullets while the rest of the soldiers took cover behind columns that laid on their sides and proceeded to open fire from behind. The tacticians threw their drone beacons into the large horde soon enough sky drones flew in from either from the windows or holes in the roof and opened fire on the changelings from above. The snipers from the outside proceeded to shoot at the changelings as well getting some headshots or leaving them mortally wounded. One of changelings flew past the line of soldiers only to be greeted by swift kick by Radec sending him backwards a few feet, the changeling got back up and pulled out a dagger and ran at Radec.

"So you want this to be personal, it will be my pleasure" he said as he drew his knife from it's sheath and charged. The changeling tried swiping at his neck only for Radec to duck and slash his stomach. The changeling screamed in pain as he clutched the wound and fell to his knees he looked up at Radec only to be greeted by bullet to the head. "No challenge at all" Radec said unimpressed he looked towards the battle that took place ahead and grinned under his helmet the changelings weren't putting up as much resistance as he originally thought they would. However the thoughts were brought to a sudden halt as more swarms of changelings came out of the throne room door at the end of the hall. The heavy trooper had to take cover to both reload and get out of the way as massive amounts of changelings were firing crossbow bolts which wounded some of the Helghast soldiers in the process, after reloading the heavy trooper left cover and opened fire on the large swarm as did the rest of the troops.

"Syth move up with me" Radec commanded as he pulled out his pistol and moved up to take cover with the rest of the troopers. Syth followed close behind and took cover alongside him and proceeded to open fire. More and more changelings swarmed in as the Helghast continued to hold the line and fired crossbow bolts at them, one hit Syth in his upper arm while he fired on some changelings.

"SON OF A BITCH" he yelled as he got back into cover and pulled the bolt out, he then pulled out a grenade and pulled the pin.

"Right back atcha" he said as he threw the grenade at a group of changelings, the changelings just looked at it and laughed just before it blew up in their faces. A lone changeling pulled out a dagger before charging towards them but before he could climb over the downed pillar Syth came out from cover, grabbed him by the neck, and dragged him over. The last thing the changeling saw before he died was Syth unsheathe the blade from his gauntlet and plunged it into the changeling's face.

Radec decided to hop over his cover and use his knife and pistol, he fired his pistol at few changelings and killed them via headshot before a blast of green magic knocked the pistol out of his hands. He looked to see a changeling clad in dark purple armor and had a giant two handed sword strapped to his back, Radec assumed that this was a high ranking general or field commander. The changeling drew the sword from his back and charged with a battle cry raising the sword, Radec drew his knife and charged as well but before the two combatants could meet Radec activated his cloak. The changeling was confused at first but then switched to high alert, eyes dashing back and forth looking for the Helghast veteran.

He continued to look for him but was suddenly hit in the face by an unseen force and sent staggering backwards a bit, he looked up to see nothing and was hit again this time in the stomach. He looked up just in time to see Radec before he got hit by a bicycle kick and was sent sailing back a few feet, and dropped his sword while Radec landed skillfully on his feet. The changeling general got back up and cracked his neck before he charged at the Helghast soldier full of rage Radec sidestepped him and stabbed his back making the general howl in pain as he fell to his knees .

Radec picked up his pistol, walked over the general, and kicked him hard making him lay on his back. Radec crouched down and looked at the general "you actually proved a little bit of challenge unlike the rest of your kind" the downed general just glared at Radec "but now you will be put down like animal you are" Radec finished as he stood up, loaded his pistol, aimed at the head, and fired giving the changeling an honorable death. Radec turned to see the rest of the changelings were retreating towards the throne room, no doubt in fear of the troops they lost, not all of them made it as some snipers got some lucky shots on them. Syth ran up and reported that only a few soldiers were wounded and were being given medical attention Radec was pleased that the assault was pulled off with no casualties.

"Syth I want you go on ahead with two of the shock troopers while me and the rest will wait for the signal" Syth nodded and went ahead with two other Shock troopers. When they got to the door Syth checked with Razer to see if he and his troops were ready.

"My squad is ready to go we also have troops on the roof of this room ready to swing down through the windows and from a hole in the roof. There are ten civilians in the room but one is in a cocoon above the throne ready on your mark" he said in a hushed tone so that none of the other changelings would be aware of the mission.

"Alright troops prepare for breaching" the shock troopers nodded and took positions on both sides of the door. Syth placed a few explosives on the door and detonated them.

Chrysalis sat on the throne with anticipation, she had sent out her changelings to deal with the unknown creatures when they came back it was only a third of her army. She scanned the room trying to find General Krell but she couldn't find him she looked and pointed to a random changeling "you what happened out there and what happened to the general?"

The changeling looked down at the floor "we retreated because he was killed and we were losing so many of our soldiers. During the battle the general was engaged in one on one combat by the leader of the creatures who call themselves 'Helghast' who only wielded a knife and could turn invisible at will. We couldn't harm them any with magic blast and their weapons kept us too far of range to use swords and daggers. When the general was defeated and killed that is when we realized we were out numbered and fled here" said the changeling, who was really Razer wearing his changing disguise. Chrysalis was shocked just what weapons did they use? and who was their leader?

"Heh guess your army isn't so tough as you thought" Chrysalis looked at the owner of the voice who happened to be Rainbow Dash, The Element of Loyalty, and scowled.

"Watch your tongue or I will make you show respect" she hissed.

"Oh yeah? prove it!!" Chrysalis was about to retort when the door exploded. All eyes went wide when three figures stepped through the smoke of the explosion. Two of the figures looked the same so they were assumed to be guards but the third one was different, the figure looked like the other ones except he had more armored and was pitch white with a blade protruding from his right arm. As he walked in he began to look at some the changelings and then towards the ponies before looking at her.

"Queen Chrysalis I presume" the figure said in distorted voice which she theorized was because of the helmet he was wearing.

"That is me who are you?" she asked cautiously looking at him.

"I am Captain Syth, of the Helghast Empire, and I'm here to make you surrender and take these civilians to a designated safe zone" he said looking at her with those lifeless, red eyes.

Chrysalis just started laughing while Syth stood there not moving a muscle "you think that only three of you can stand against my children, you are outnumbered" she declared with smug smile. Syth just chuckled darkly, the changeling queen wondered what he thought was so funny until she heard the remaining changeling drop their weapons. She turned around only to see changelings holding some of the Helghast's weapons and pointing them at other changelings. One of them walked up to her "what are you doing use the weapons on the-" she stopped mid sentence when the changelings turned into Helghast soldiers and one of them wore the same armor that Syth did.

She turned back to the Helghast captain who was chuckling at the look on her face "surprised your highness, i'll have you know that the Helghast have much more advanced technology than you or any species on this planet, so I will say this once again surrender!" This time Syth put more authority into his voice which only seemed to anger the queen.

"Never!! I will never surrender to you" she launched herself at him and tackled him to the ground. She was about to punch his head until a loud crack sounded off everyone looked towards the door to see a new even more frighting figure.

"Get away from him you BITCH"

I'm happy I got to give him more screen time and also I gave a hint to who Syth will have a relationship with can ya guess if not well who cares another chapter is done and also if you have any ideas for future chapters you want to share put them down in the comments and I will see about putting them in the story also here is a tribute for the helghast I found that I thought was pretty cool
