Life as the Outsider
Chapter 1: A Whole New World
Previous ChapterNext ChapterI awake in a small grassy field. Next to me are all of my things, consoles, clothes, and other miscellaneous items. I immediately spring up and try to find out where I am. All I see are the plains, a dense forest and a small town. After at least half an hour of pacing, and decide to buckle up, and head towards the town. Maybe I can get some answers.
Gathering my things, mainly a couple of suitcases and a hygiene kit, I make my way to the area. On closer inspection, it seems that the house look of that from medieval times. On the weird side, it seem that the entire place looks absolutely more vibrant than the art depicted for the tales of old. Hay roofs, outside girders as seen in many a Minecraft house, and uh, a lotta pink. Pink fences, doors, balconies, archways, pink everywhere! Yet, it fit in with moderation, as the housing color compliments it. And the housing, let's just say they love their greens.
Just as I walk into the blast from the past, I see its citizens. They look like horses. Except, they're smaller, and not a normal color ranging from black to white. No, they are a large variety of colors. From pink, to blue, to green, yellow, orange, you name it, at least one of them has that color. They are small in stature, and instead of the long snouts we know, these ones are extremely smaller. Imagine a horse with a slightly normal face, kinda creepy when you think about it. Their eyes are of monstrous size, looking like they came directly out of an anime. Again, the eyes don't match the color of the normal human eyes, and again, are in fact a rainbow of shades. At least I'm still in my human form. Wait. Oh no. All around me I hear screams of terror and confusion, bolts and locks, doors being slammed shut shunning the new entity that has entered their humble town. I see a large towering building, and since it's size and build look stable, no pun intended, I assume that's an important building. I'll head there to see if I can get some answers.
~A few minutes later~
As I stand in front of the towering giant that is the building, I investigate around me. Silence. Things have gone eerily quiet, and it makes me extremely uncomfortable. Hold on, what's that? I see six of them running at full speed towards me. Except one of them. I ditch the gear, and me being the pacifist that I am, idly wait for their arrival. As they approach, I get a greater detail than before. Before me are six ponies varying of shape. Two normal looking ones, hot pink and a light orange, one with a horn, who I can describe only as a fresh marshmallow tint, two with wings, a cyan blue and a bright yellow, and one that looks like a mixture of all. Wings, horn, this one has it, and is a lovely shade a lavender.
The purple one shouts at me, horn glowing, possibly preparing to attack. "What are you and what are you doing here?!" I stand back, shocked that something so cute looking could potentially kill me.
"Listen, I don't want any trouble."
"Then why are you terrorizing our town?!"
"I'm not doing anything wrong, the others just looked at me, screamed, then ran away. I know I'm not the best looking, but they don't have to be rude about it." Behind the leader, I hear the pink one giggle.
"Twilight, let him go, if what's he saying is righty-right, he might not be so bad!"
"Pinkie! Now's not the time!" You can't be serious. I start holding back some laughter. Pinkie? What are the others? Sweetie Drop? Sprinkles? If the cartoon horses don't kill me, I'll die of laughter.
"What's so funny?"
"*snicker* I-It's nothing. It's just her n-name."
"What? Pinkie Pie may act goofy, but she can be serious!" Oh no. This was the straw that broke the camel's back. It was then I had fallen to the floor.
"AHAHAHAHA! Oh my god! That has got to be one of the funniest names I have ever heard!" Much to my shock Pinkie comes to my side while laughing with me.
"Heehee! Yeah, it's kind of a dopey name, but people like you are the reason I won't change it!" She smiles at she and helps me up. "What's your name, new friend?" New friend? Just a second ago I was "terrorizing their village", now I'm friends with someone who doesn't know my name.
"I'm Charles, but my friends call me Charlie." I walk up to the other five who are just standing there, mouths agape. I approach to the leader of the bunch. "Y'know, you could learn something or two from her."
The others shake themselves back into reality, as if they had been caught daydreaming in class. "Ahem. I'm sorry for misunderstanding. I'm Twilight Sparkle. Girls?" I look behind them as perform a role call.
The orange one spoke up first. "Howdy. Name's Applejack. Nice ta meetcha."
The blue pegasus drew closer, still wary of my appearance. "Rainbow Dash, fastest flyer in all of Equestria!" Well it looks like she's full of herself.
The marshmallow one gracefully skipped towards me. "Rarity, drop by my place later, those clothes look worn."
"Well thanks for the honesty."
"Oh no, darling. Applejack's the element of honesty." I'm not even going to ask.
Lastly, the yellow one cautiously approached me. "My name is Fluttershy." She quickly looked down. I kneeled down to get to her eye level.
"Listen, I know you're scared, but I promise you with all of my heart that I won't do anything to harm you or your friends. They're my friends too."
She looked up at me inquisitively. "Really?"
"Absolutely." As soon as I finished, she stuck out her hoof. I assume this is their version of a handshake.
"I'm sorry."
"Alright, we know that we can trust you, but where did you come from, and how did you get here?" Twilight's asking me questions I don't have time to answer. To avoid answering that question, I had a request.
"Look, I'm sorry but If you haven't noticed I have a lot of luggage with me, and I'd just like to find somewhere to rest."
She raised her eyebrow and started thinking.
"Well I guess since you don't know the area, why don't you just stay in the castle?" Castle? I look around the sheer scale of the monument causes me to fall on my back. "Charlie! Are you ok?!"
"Yeah, fine it's just, how did I miss this, and just look at this thing. It's huge!"
"True, but it's your best place for tonight. Ok, should we get going?" Frankly the hour itself had me in a state of pure exhaustion and I just wanted to sleep forever.
"Sure."
