Doctor Whooves: Friendship Games Part 1
Mysterious Figures
Previous ChapterNext Chapter"They were definitely doing something to the statue, or were going to." Sunset explained, as she and the rest were in the library.
"Do you think they came through the portal from Equestria?" Fluttershy asked, petting Angel.
"No, I think we would've noticed that." Sunset said. "I think they were from over here."
"Well, that's a relief," Applejack said, "The last thing we need is another magical so-and-so bent on world domination comin' over from Equestria." Sunset smirked at the familiar jab.
"Agreed." Rarity said. "I have no interest in another fight against the powers of evil magic. The wear and tear of my wardrobe us just too much to keep up with."
Adagio raised an eyebrow. "Rarity, don't you only ever wear a similar, if not the same, blue sweater and purple skirt?"
"And, you always wore a different dress for each occasion. You wore your dress at the Fall Formal, and a different one at the Battle of the Bands." Pinkie Pie added cheerfully.
"I'm simply stating that I don't want to fight against magic again." Rarity explained.
"Five girls, and, they left a note for Twilight, which is odd." The Doctor explained, lowering his copy of The Time Machine, and looking at Twilight above his glasses. "Did you get a good look of them under those hoods? Any chance you recognized them?"
Twilight was broken out of her trance. "Huh? What? Oh, no I didn't get a good look."
"Hm..." The Doctor wondered, "I wonder who they were..."
"Well, you don't have to anymore, because I totally figured out who it was!" Rainbow Dash said gleefully, coming around the corner.
"Oooh! Is it a night time statue cleaner? A magical portal maintenance maintainer? A gardener!?" Pinkie Pie asked gleefully, getting in Dash's face.
Rainbow pushed Pinkie away, and said, "Seeing as they got on a bus heading from the city, and got on a bus heading to the city, I bet they go to..."
"Crystal Prep." The five girls exasperated.
"Yep." Rainbow agreed. "With the Friendship Games starting tomorrow, they'd totally try to prank us by defacing the Wondercolts Statue."
"Hm...it's a possibility." Twilight said. "That would explain the note. There weren't exactly a good amount of happy students when I transferred here."
"Why's that?" The Doctor asked.
"Because the Crystal Prep Shadowbolts are our biggest rivals." Applejack explained.
"Because that's just what the students at Crystal Prep would do." Rarity added.
"Because even though the beat us at everything," Rainbow held up a yearbook, "Soccer, tennis, golf! They still have to gloat!" Rainbow held up a photo of the statue dressed as a clown.
"Sounds like you two are at each others throats." The Doctor said. "Are you sure they'd do that again, even though they haven't even seen what the competitions are yet?"
"Oh, definitely." Twilight explained. "When my brother Shining Armor competed in the Games four years ago, he was the only person who didn't gloat all the time, and didn't go to the celebration party, because he knew the students at Crystal Prep were jerks. So, he became assistant coach here."
"It's kind of a big deal..." Sunset said, though she sounded unsure.
"Oh, that's putting it mildly, darling." Rarity said. "They're still revamping the playing field in preparation."
"Hm...I see your point." The Doctor said, standing up, and walzing over to Rainbow and Applejack, placing his arms around them. "But, hey, there's no sure thing said that they'll win this year, right?"
"Exactly!" Rainbow said, pulling away. "This time, things are gonna be different."
"What do you mean?" Sunset asked.
"Oh, you'll find out..." Rainbow said, smirking.
"I'm scared." Fluttershy said.
Before they could say anything else, Vice Principal Celestia's voice rang out through the library. Will the teacher who applied for the new position please report to my office.
"A new teacher?" Adagio said. "I guess Mr. Turner is going to be replaced. I wonder who it will be."
"Hopefully someone who knows what he's doing." Sunset said.
"And, doesn't give out a lot of homework." Rainbow added.
"Hey, where'd the Doctor go?" Twilight asked.
The girls looked around, and discovered the bowtie wearing alien was nowhere in sight. "Maybe he left. he did say he wanted to buy that Cyberman head." Sunset said.
"Too bad." Rainbow said. "I guess he'll miss it."
"Rainbow Dash," Fluttershy began, "That was, amazing! Even I feel like we can win!"
"I don't." Adagio said.
"I feel like my school pride is at an all time high!" Rarity said.
"I never had any to begin with." Adagio added.
Rarity glared at her. "You're running the mood, darling."
"Is anybody else wonderin' how Dash ponied up without playin' her guitar?" Applejack asked.
"I know right!" Rainbow exclaimed, "It's probably because I'm so awesome!"
"Maybe..." Sunset said, "I mean, you are awesome, but, there's gotta be more to it than that, right? It just seemed so random."
"Well, it'd be nice if you girls could get a handle on it." Vice Principal Luna stated behind Sunset, causing her to turn around.
"We get a handle on it?!" Adagio exclaimed, "You get a handle on it! You're the Vice Principal of this school, can't you figure something out?!"
Luna glared at Adagio, before looking back at Sunset. "We'd like to keep magic as far away from the Friendship Games as possible. We don't want to be accused of cheating."
"That's what you're worried about?" Adagio exclaimed again, "Has it occurred to you that CHS might be in danger with the amount of magical energy developing here?"
Rainbow skipped in front of Adagio. "Don't mind her Vice Principal Luna, we can get a hold of it! Besides, we don't need magic to defeat these Crystal Prep students, am I right?!" The other girls, save Adagio, exclaimed in agreement.
"Still," Luna continued, "The Friendship Games are serious business." Adagio rolled her eyes. "We don't want any surprises, especially the kind that could cause us to forfeit." She turned to face Sunset. "Sunset Shimmer, you came here from a world of magic-"
"So did I." Adagio interrupted, but, Luna payed no attention.
"-Perhaps you can get to the bottom of our magical development."
"I'll do my best." Sunset said, smiling.
"Vice Principal Luna?" Adagio asked, as Luna looked at her. "May I ask why you only asked Sunset to figure out how to fix this magical mess, even though you know fully well I'm from the same world as her, and that I can probably help?"
"With all do respect, Ms. Dazzle," Luna said, "I don't trust you. I'd rather put my faith in Sunset."
"Oh, you are ignorant, aren't you?" Adagio asked.
Luna's eyes turned to ice. "I beg your pardon?"
"You're allowing your personal opinion of me to blind your judgment." Adagio explained, "You don't seem to understand that magic is a tricky thing to work with, and just one person to manage is more likely to cause a bigger mess than the one we already have?!"
Luna nodded. "You're right." She turned to face Twilight. "Ms. Sparkle, you may assist Ms. Shimmer as well."
Adagio's jaw fell open, and her eyes turned to fire. "You are so stupid!" She exclaimed, causing Luna to stare back at her with her cold eyes. "Are you so ignorant, and so blind to realize that I can help, and I'm willing to help, but you are so stubborn, you can't get past your opinion of me! Have you yet to realize that I've changed?!"
Luna stared directly into Adagio's eyes. "You haven't changed a bit Ms. Dazzle. And, because of your language, I will see you in detention this evening." With that, Luna turned away, and swaggered off.
"Why you self-centered moron!" Adagio exclaimed, causing Luna to turn back. "Can you not see how you're acting?!"
Luna walked up to Adagio, and stared at her with her ice eyes. "Remember this, Adagio Dazzle: I am above you. I can send you out of this school and send you back into the hole you came from with nothing but the clothes on your back. Don't cross me, or I will end you."
Adagio stared at Luna with genuine fear, as all signs of aggression disappeared. "Luna, may I have a word with you?" A voice said behind Luna.
"If you'll excuse me." Luna said, turning and walking off.
Adagio ran off in the opposite direction, tears streaming from her face.
