Rescuing the Doctor

"Okay, I've got most of the message." Twilight said.

"Well, let's hear it." Adagio said.

"Okay, here goes:

It is the Doctor. I need your help. I am trapped in a parellel universe, but, don't worry, I've convinced this universe's Twilight to help me. Here's what you need to do: reverse the feedback loop of the time tunnel by reversing the polarity of the Artron flow. We are doing the same here. If we do that at the same time, a portal will open, and I can come back. You will have to use the TARDIS. It won't want to come here willingly, so you'll have to persuade her. Use the TARDIS voice-visual interface.

That's about it." Twilight finished.

"So, you know what to do?" Adagio asked.

"Yep. Sunset, you get to the TARDIS, and figure out how to get it into the portal." Twilight said. "I'll send a message to the Doctor, telling him we got his message, and when we'll start."

Sunset raised an eyebrow. "When will we start?"

"One hour." The Doctor finished. "So, we have everything set up, and now we simply have to wait."

Twilight was sitting on a desk a few feet away. The Doctor stood up and joined her. "Why are you here?"

"I go to school here." Twilight replied.

"No, I mean why are you here. As in this closet, and why is there a huge diagram on the wall?" The Doctor asked.

Twilight sighed. "I think there's something going on at Canterlot High. There's been strange occurrences going on, and I'm trying ot figure it out."

"And, the Friendship Games?" The Doctor asked.

"They're the perfect opportunity to figure out what's going on there. That's why I joined the team." Twilight explained.

"Well, I think, that you'll understand what's going on." The Doctor said.

"Really?" Twilight asked.

"Quite certain." The Doctor explained. "You see, in my universe, I already know you, and know everything about you. It's a scary thought, but, it is true."

"It is creepy." Twilight admitted. "So, I know you? How did we meet?"

"Oh, it's a long story." The Doctor said, "But, needless to say, we became good friends."

"Oh." Twilight said. "Am I as obsessed with Canterlot High as I am now?"

"You were." The Doctor said, "But, once you solved the mystery, you changed, and you actually transferred to CHS."

"Really?" Twilight asked, "Why would I do that?"

The Doctor smiled. "You made friends."

Twilight looked down. "I don't have friends."

"Oh, but, you will." The Doctor assured, "Everyone makes friends. It takes time, but, you'll make friends. You'll find someone who loves you for who you are, and wants to be with you. Trust me, Twilight, you will make friends."

Twilight looked up. "Thanks. Did you rehearse that, or did you make it up as you went along?"

"As I went along." The Doctor said, "But, I do it, brilliantly."

Sunset entered the TARDIS, and walked over to the console. "Let's see... I need the voice interface..."

"Voice interface enabled." A voice off to the side said.

Sunset looked over and saw the Doctor standing there, or, rather his previous incarnation. He stood straight, in his brown suit, staring at Sunset. "Wait, why do you look like that?" Sunset asked.

"I'm programmed to select the image of a person you esteem." The Holo-Doctor said. "Of several billion such images in my database, this image best meets the criterion."

"Okay, that makes sense." Sunset said, though she was surprised it was the previous Doctor. "Okay, listen, in about ten minutes, we need to take a slight trip to a parallel universe."

"Unable to comply." The Holo-Doctor said.

"Why?"

"The entrance would drain the energy from my heart," The Holo-Doctor explained, "In four seconds I'd be stranded. In ten, I'd be dead."

"Listen, it's this or never see the Doctor again, take your pick." Sunset said.

"Very well." The Holo-Doctor said, giving in. "I'm giving you control access, but, know this: After three seconds in the parallel universe, I will return here, with, or without the Doctor."

"Got it." Sunset replied. As the hologram disappeared, she pulled out her phone and called Twilight. "We're ready."

"We're?"

"Yeah." Sunset replied. "The TARDIS and I."

"Whatever, we're ready on this end. I'll send the Doctor a signal. I'll signal you when ready."

"Okay, got it." Sunset replied.

"We're ready." The Doctor said, reading the new message. "Signal us back. Sending signal...now!"

"He's ready!" Twilight shouted. "Reversing polarity-"

"Now!" The Doctor shouted, and a portal opened in the corner of the closet. Wind blew out of it, slightly bowing Twilight and the Doctor back, as white light poured out of it.

Sunset pulled the lever and the TARDIS dematerialized.

The Doctor grabbed Twilight by the shoulders. "Twilight, listen, you need to forget me!" The Doctor shouted. "You can't remember anything about me!"

"What?!" Twilight shouted, "What not!?"

"Because it could alter the course of action in this universe! You need to forget it ever happened; that you ever met me!"

"But, I don't want to!" Twilight shouted.

The Doctor heard the TARDIS dematerializing. "Oh, I didn't want to do this..." He slammed his head against Twilight's knocking both of them back. The Doctor recoiled in pain, and whipped out his screwdriver, and erased the computer's memory. He stumbled over to the materializing TARDIS, and grabbed the side, just the TARDIS dematerialized.

The TARDIS landed in the closet, just as Twilight closed the portal. The Doctor stumbled off it, and Sunset exited the TARDIS. "Are you okay?" Twilight asked, looking at the Doctor. His clothes were dirty, and needed washing.

"I'm fine, just some back pain, that's all." The Doctor said, cracking his back. "The TARDIS can absorb the residual Artron Energy here. We should be safe." The Doctor looked at his clothes. "Blimey, I need to change."

"What about that universe's Twilight?" Sunset asked.

"I erased her computer history, and implanted the idea in her head that everything was just a dream. She'll be fine."

Twilight woke up, her back and head in pain. She looked around. Her closet was trashed. She wasn't sure how, or when, but, she needed to fix it. She apparently dosed off. After all, a mysterious doctor in a bowtie, popping up from nowhere, claiming to be from another universe? She needed some Tylenol.
