Chapters Dear diary,
This day couldn't possibly get any worse if it tried. I don't know exactly what's going on, or why, I just know that something changed my species, and gender, and put me in a frozen wilderness in the middle of no-damn-where. But I guess I shouldn't get ahead of myself, let's start from the beginning.
I fell asleep last night in my own bed, er... fell asleep in my bed five years ago. I don't know what happened while I slept, but I woke up today, and it's the year twenty sixteen. I want to know what happened to the past 5 years of my life, but I suppose it can wait for now. Anyway, not only am I in the future, but also a different house. I don't remember ever being in a log cabin in the middle of nowhere, but that's where I woke up this morning.
I knew something was up as soon as I opened my eyes and began shivering. I know the calendar downstairs says July, but I highly doubt that. Now that I think about it, it might not even be twenty sixteen. Eh, whatever, doesn't really matter what year it is. Anyway, like I said, I woke up and began shivering. My brain hadn't fully woken up yet, so I couldn't think clearly just yet. Felt like an eternity before I realized I was shivering in a strange bed in a strange room. The blankets were frozen stiff and unmoldable, so I had to find another way to warm up. Should have been simple: Get out of bed, find something fuzzy that isn't frozen stiff, and wrap up like a caterpillar in a cocoon. That's not how it worked, though.
As soon as I stood up, I face planted. I would normally pass it off as still being groggy and not fully awake, but that was, unfortunately, not the case. As I pushed myself off the floor, I got a good look at my hands... well, lack thereof. Where my hands should have been were greenish blue stubs. Needless to say, this freaked me out more than a little. I forgot about being cold for a bit while my brain took in the sight. I soon discovered it wasn't just my hands that had changed, my whole body did. After the initial shock, I looked the rest of my body over to find greenish blue stubs for feet, a slender, almost cylinder-like body, and... a uh... well, a tail. A two tone tail, I might add. My tail is a mixture of dark blue and plum purple.
Now where was I? Oh yea, being cold. I remedied that eventually, but first let me tell you about my next discovery. This one was huge, even bigger than the one I just wrote about. Walking was rather simple, though I suppose that's to be expected when I have more legs to stand on. Anyway, so I walk over to the door and try to open it... well, I kind of did successfully in a way because it fell on its hinges at my touch. Yea, this cabin is need of some serious repairs. Getting off track again, sorry. Anyway, so I made my way over the downed door and to the stairs. Walking was easy enough, so surely stairs wouldn't be hard, right? Wrong. I immediately regretted taking that first step, as I then found out what it's like to topple down old stairs. When I landed, I had the biggest headache in the world. It wasn't like a regular headache, it felt like I had been stabbed in the forehead. I raised up one of my legs to hold my head, and that's when my big discovery happened. I didn't touch my forehead, but a strange protrusion. That scared the hell out of me at first. I thought I really did get stabbed by something.
I decided enough was enough, and walked over to the nearest window, hoping to get at least some kind of decent look at myself. What I saw killed my poor brain. Staring back at me was a small horse, a pony to be precise. I have a small muzzle, a bigger head than my body should be able to hold up, and eyes bigger than should be physically possible. What caught my attention the most, however, was the protrusion I discovered a little bit ago. I didn't get stabbed (Thank goodness for that), but Instead had a horn coming out of my forehead. It's the same color as the rest of me in case you were wondering. I'd seen enough My Little Pony with my daughter to know what I had become: an Equestrian unicorn. Only thing was different about me was my lack of a butt tattoo.
Alone, a horn on my forehead isn't too impressive sounding, but when you add in that Equestrian unicorns can use magic, it becomes the biggest discovery I'll ever make about myself. I even consider it bigger than discovering I'm a mare. Oh, and since I brought that up, let me tell you that I was a guy when I fell asleep, so you can probably imagine my surprise when I found out I was missing something.
So, after about an hour of discoveries, my temperature had dropped to below acceptable levels. Luckily for me, whoever was here before me left some firewood in the fireplace and had a nice, fresh supply of fatwood. I, however, am still a pony, and am not all that great at using hooves for things only fingers should be able to do. So, what did I do? Well, still not sure about that, but somehow, the firewood caught fire without me having to actually do anything. I'm sure I used magic, but I don't even know how it works so... yea, I'll just say it was magic.
Enough rambling about that, I'll get onto the last topic for today, something I'm you're wondering by this point: How the hell am I writing this without hands? Well, I've been here for about three and a half hours now drawing lines slowly while holding the pencil I'm using in between my two front hooves. I've made some mistakes, and I lost my balance a couple times, so it's been kind of frustrating. However, if somebody, or somepony, actually finds this diary, then all will not be lost.

Dear diary,
Got a good bit done today. I'll start off with my progress in magic stuff. As it turns out, all I have to do is think about what I want to cast and it happens, so long as I have enough mana... like in a video game. I don't know how to tell how much mana I have yet, but I hope to figure it out soon. I wonder if it works like in a video game where I get more mana reserves as I become more experienced. Well, however it works, at least I have an easier way to write for about thirty minutes.
So, I have some food. Seems I'm not the only life in this frozen wilderness. Only thing is that I didn't expect anything but trees to grow in this environment, but I was wrong. So, what did I find, you ask? A good sized patch of flowers. They're unlike any flower I've ever seen, but I'm not going to question their existence right now. Anyway, they're rock solid until put in your mouth, then they simply melt away like they're made from ice or something. They've also got a very sweet taste similar to cherries. That could just be my pony taste buds talking, or it may be how they really do taste, I'm not really sure, but... whatever, food! The best part? They're within eyeshot of the cabin. I hope I can grow them, it'd help a ton. Side note: I wish unicorns could eat meat.
I've also started working on the worn out walls. It's not been that easy, there's tons of holes and whatnot, but it's working out. Honestly, I never expected a table and a couple of sheets to be so good at keeping out the elements... ok, so it's not that great, but it works well enough for me right now. I'm calling myself an improvised wall repair pony... ok, scratch that title... it sounded better in my head.
Anyway, I also got a hold of some clothes. They're a tad big at the moment, but I can probably fix that eventually. The most important part is that they keep me warm. I do kind of wonder how horses survive without warm clothes in the wild... these fur coats seem awful thin. Did I mention I look like a lumberjack? Because I look like a lumberjack pony. Wow, true and it sounds like a cooler title... might just stick with that one.
Anyway, before I start rambling, I'll talk about one last thing: weapons. Yes, I'm armed now. Can't fire more than once before I lose focus, but I'll be able to overcome that obstacle eventually. When I do, anything that means me harm better stay away, cause I'm deadly. Oh, and I always aim for the head. And you might be interested in knowing what weapon I have, and the answer is a classic Colt 1911. Fires 45 caliber rounds, so if it doesn't kill you, you'll wish it did. They're also very reliable. Even after supposedly five years in this cold ass weather, when other things HAVE frozen, thi__________
Alright, back from my little break. Remember how I said I can write for about thirty minutes? Well, that IS my limit right now. Anyway, so as I was saying before my magic just ever so rudely cut out... my 1911 hasn't frozen like everything else in this place. Lots of other things, even those made out of metal, froze, but this thing didn't somehow.
Well, that about does it for my updates for today. Nothing else of interest really happened. Until tomorrow...

Today has been equal parts amazing and fucking terrifying. I was attacked earlier by something that shouldn't exist (Says the unicorn). If you're a gamer, You might have heard of a little something called "Akrid". If you don't know about them, they're alien creatures from one of my favorite video games of all time, and good lord are they terrifying in real life. Actually, I wonder if I'm on Earth since there are Akrid here... I'll just have to look into that eventually.
Anyway, let me start out from the beginning. Remember how I said these clothes I found are pretty big? Well, want a sense of scale? My jacket was my only blanket last night as I slept... completely covered as I curled up. But that's not what you really want to read, is it? Well, how about an update of my magic abilities? I don't seem to have a larger mana reserve, but I have figured out something I can do to help stabilize my gun as I fire it. It's good that I discovered this too since I was attacked today and had to be able to fire more than one shot at a time. Anyway, so how did I figure it out? Well, when I pulled the trigger this morning during practice, I just imagined different things. I used whatever popped into my mind at each trigger squeeze, and eventually I got to the silly stuff. Sometimes, it's the silly stuff you'd think wouldn't work that actually work, and this time was no exception. So, what did I think of? A slingshot. I don't know what it is about a slingshot that helps me keep my magical grip on my gun for more than one trigger squeeze at a time, but it works so... yea, there's that.
So, there I was, enjoying a wonderful cherry ice lily (I'll work on a better name) when I hear some rustling. Now, I'm not your stereotypical horror movie character, I didn't call out or go investigate. I don't want to die just yet. Instead, I just ran to my cabin and grabbed the gun and a couple of extra clips. After making sure the current clip had some rounds, I headed out to see what the noise was. What I saw was a lone Sepia, or a biological tripod with three rather large jaws for a head. It wasn't much bigger than me, but it was still terrifying to look at. And where's one, there's always more. They're pack hunters. I'd rather deal with wolves in all honesty, but oh well...
Anyway, I raised the gun up and got my sight picture then fired. Damn thing went down in one shot, which kind of surprised me cause I was kind of in a gamer's mindset at the time. Pretty much, that means I was expecting it to take more than one shot before dying. I soon realized that I probably shouldn't have fired as three more soon showed up out of fucking nowhere. I took them down easily with one shot each, but it didn't seem to matter much cause even more showed up. It was like fighting a hydra. But regardless, they were on to me at that point, and that many so close meant there had to be a hive somewhere. If I was going to survive, I'd have to close it. The problem? I've not really had much ammo to start with. Regardless, I had no choice in the matter and had to risk it.
The risk was worth it. I did run out of ammo on the way to the hive, and had to actually fight hoof to... um, mouth, I guess? Anyway, I had to get by with punches and kicks after only a minute... and that wasn't really fun. There was one point where I'd be dead if I wasn't a unicorn. One Sepia pinned me from behind. I was on my belly, not the best of positions in a situation like that. Thank God for this horn upon my head. I didn't stab the assailant, I was pinned, but I did levitate it off of me and threw it against a rock. I can apparently throw harder than I thought because the thing split in half on contact. That's when another unexpected thing happened, the other Sepia refused to get closer to me. I think my display of magic and strength scared them shitless. That's how I got to their hive. That's right, they just up and abandoned their hive because I showed them a little magic.
Anyway, I got rid of their hive. I had no mana left at that point, so it took a bit of punching, and I was exhausted afterwards, but my security was all worth it. With any luck, that's the only batch of Akrid I'll run into for a while at the very least. Also got a new task: figure out how to manufacture .45s. I don't have machines or even gunpowder, so I'll have to use my magic. Hopefully I'll be able to figure it out (If it's possible) before too long. I dread to think of what would happen if there's more Akrid and they're not as easy to kill or scare off.
