Chapters Chapter I: An Unexpected Arrival
New Planet Vegeta. Not much remained of the once beautiful world; the battle that had taken place beforehand had made sure of that. Only one being remained on the planet, and he had no plans of dying today. Despite it being night, the light of Comet Camori illuminated the sky as bright as if was midday. The one being on the rock of a planet was greatly injured, and was heavily bleeding out of his stomach area. As the being continued walking forward, he breathed a sigh of relief as he spotted what he was looking for; a space pod. Tentatively he opened the pod and climbed inside, groaning with the effort it took to be able to sit down inside the craft. Once his breathing returned to normal, he reached up, pushed a few buttons on the control pad, and breathed a sigh of relief as the pod closed and took off into space, barely escaping the planet in time to see it destroyed by the oncoming comet. As the ship sailed through space, the being began to speak to himself. "Man, I hope I survive this. I wish that I could be myself, instead of that monster I become. Heh, I should thank Kakarot for defeating that side of me because it seems that as a result, my true self has been able to come out. Unfortunately, I have no idea how long it will last before that monster rears his ugly head again. I swear, whatever planet I land on, I'm going to ask for a second chance... that's all I need... a second chance..." he continued to speak to himself, but it became an incoherent mutter as his fatigue caught up with him, and he finally fell asleep.
Meanwhile, in another part of the universe, on a lone planet called Equis, something much worse was occurring. Lord Tirek, a centaur that had been trapped in Tartarus, had escaped and, with Discord's help, had managed to absorb everypony's magic, except for the alicorn's. After finding out that a fourth alicorn by the name of Twilight Sparkle possessed all the alicorn magic, he turned on Discord, absorbed his magic, and was now facing Twilight in a magic battle. As the battle continued, however, Tirek soon realized that he and Twilight were equally matched. As he picked himself up out of the rubble, he stared at the purple alicorn. "It appears we are at an impasse," he said with a smile. "How 'bout a trade, Princess Twilight?" and with a snap of his fingers, all of Twilight's friends appeared, each one floating in a bubble. "Their release for all the alicorn magic in Equestria," he declared, a smug grin on his face. Twilight gasped. All of her friends began shouting against the offer, telling her they weren't worth it. Discord sat in his bubble, facing away from Twilight. All the arguing was beginning to get on Tirek's nerves, and he shouted, "Enough! I want an answer, and I want it n-"
Tirek was suddenly interrupted by something slamming into the back of his head, sending him crashing to the ground. With Tirek's concentration broken, the bubbles popped, and all of Twilight's friends were freed from his clutches. Twilight's eyes followed the object that had hit Tirek, and watched as it crashed into the ground, creating a small crater. she walked up to the strange object, looking at it curiously. She jumped back as the object suddenly opened, and she was immediately hit with scent of blood, causing her to gag slightly. Twilight watched as an unusual creature crawled out of the object, groaning and clutching its midsection. Upon further inspection, Twilight noticed the creature appeared to be bleeding quite heavily. Twilight immediately ran up to the creature and looked at his injury, and the creature stopped and looked down at her. Twilight looked up into the creature's eyes and gave him a 'don't move' look as she used her magic, and the creature's injury lit up briefly and when the light faded, the creature's wound was completely healed. After checking his midsection to be sure it was healed, he looked down at Twilight and said, "Thank you for healing me. Who are you?"
As Twilight opened her mouth to speak, Tirek finally stood up and looked around, shouting, "Who dares to strike me from behind!?"
Twilight stared at the enormous centaur, shivering with fear. To her surprise, however, the being stood up, looked at Tirek, and said, "I did, you big brute, and if you wanna fight, I'll gladly take you on."
Twilight looked up at the creature and asked, "Who are you, and why would you wanna take on somepony like Tirek?"
He looked down at her and said, "My name is Broly, and i'm fighting him because I can already tell he's evil. I also feel like helping you because you helped me." Broly turned to face Tirek and said, "I'm ready if you are, ya big, ugly brute!"
Tirek started running toward him, saying, "I will make you pay for your insults!"
A whitish blue aura flared up around Broly as he said, "Come on, then, if you think you can take me!" Broly then dashed at Tirek, slamming his fist into Tirek's stomach, causing him to collapse on the ground, groaning in pain. Broly landed in front of Tirek, looked back at Twilight, and said, "So, who are all of you?"
Twilight gawked at Broly in disbelief until she finally managed to compose herself and said, "My name is Twilight Sparkle, and these are my friends Spike, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, and Discord." She pointed a hoof to each of her friends as she spoke, indicating who was who.
Broly nodded to each of them and said, "Nice to meet you all. So, what do you plan on doing with this guy here?", pointing to Tirek.
"Well, I do have an idea, but you will have to hold him off until we're ready. Do you think you can do that, Broly?" asked Twilight.
Broly nodded and turned back toward Tirek. "Let's change the venue, shall we?", he said, grabbing Tirek by the horns and throwing him far into the distance. Everypony watched as Broly flew off into the distance in pursuit of Tirek.
Chapter II: Broly's Power Awakened
Everypony watched in confusion as Broly flew off in pursuit of Tirek. They looked at each other, unsure of what to say. Rainbow Dash was the first to break the silence. "Who is that guy? What is he, and how is he flying without wings?" she asked.
Twilight shook her head slowly as she said, "He said his name was Broly. Beyond that, I have no idea." The ponies were shocked to hear this. After all, it's not often that one hears the words 'I don't know' come from Twilight.
"I might have an idea," said Discord hesitantly. All eyes were suddenly on him, causing him to swallow audibly. "I believe I have seen his kind on this planet before, though it has been a long time..." he trailed off, a look of nostalgia on his face. He quickly snapped out of it and said, "Of course, I can't be sure until I get a better look at him first."
"So, what is he, Discord?" asked Twilight.
"I am unsure at the moment, but i'm going to find out," said Discord. With a grunt, an aura appeared around him, causing everypony to gasp and jump back in shock. His aura looked similar to Broly's, but Discord's was dark violet in color, and was red at the edges. He turned to the ponies and said, "I know you don't understand this right now, but I promise I will explain after all this is over." He then looked at Twilight and said, "Here, Twilight. Take this." He then removed the medallion from his neck and placed it around hers.
Twilight looked at the medallion and said, "Where did you get this, Discord?"
He looked at her solemnly and said, "It was given to me by Tirek as a sign of gratitude and loyalty. He told me he could offer me something more valuable than friendship. But now I see that there is nothing worth more. I now give it to you as a sign of my true friendship." Discord smiled warmly at his friends before turning around and flying off in the direction of Broly and Tirek.
Everypony then noticed a faint multicolored glow move across the medallion. "Ya think that might be the last one we need?" asked Applejack hesitantly.
Twilight turned to her friends and said, "We have to get to the chest." With that, everypony ran toward the Everfree Forest.
Broly was amazed by Tirek's performance thus far. After landing, the two had begun fighting properly, and Broly had quickly learned that he absolutely loathed magic. To make matters worse, Tirek seemed to know how to use energy, and was rapidly proving himself to be more than a match for Broly. It also didn't help that for some reason, Broly couldn't transform into a Super Saiyan. He had once again been slammed into the ground, and he had just about all he could take from the centaur. "I don't understand," he said in frustration, "I should be able to transform! Why can't I do it now!?"
"It's because you haven't transformed personally before," said an all-too-familiar voice. Broly looked around for the source of the voice, and found himself staring at his own reflection in a small pool of water. But his reflection wasn't mirroring his expression; it was staring back at him with a cocky sneer. "You see, Mr. Nice-Nice, I have transformed into a Super Saiyan and, of course, beyond. After all, it's in my title as the Legendary Super Saiyan. You, however, have never been able to transform. Father made quite sure of that."
"What do you want, Monster?" spat Broly with venom in his voice.
"Oooo, feisty! So, little Broly thinks he's grown a pair, does he? Well, for your information, i'm not here to cause trouble. I'm here to give you a warning." said the Legendary Super Saiyan with an evil grin.
"You? Warning me about something? What kind of nonsense are you going on about?" asked Broly angerely.
"Well, you see, due to events that your tiny brain wouldn't be able to comprehend, we are now separated. You got to live, and i'm now in Hell. But I was told that if I could fight my way out of Hell, then I could come back, and that I would have my own body upon my return. So I've decided that I will return and kill you. How fun does that sound?"
Broly sharply exhaled as he said, "I don't know about 'fun', but this shouldn't even be possible. The thought of you coming back to life is terrifying enough as it is. What I don't understand is why. Why the early warning, Monster? It doesn't fit your style at all."
Broly's reflection let out a sadistic chuckle as he answered, "Oh, I just wanted the joy of watching try to train, try to prepare, try to stop me, and for all to end in vain. You know me well enough to know that I won't settle on your death alone. No, I tell you now, i'm going to destroy that pathetic planet you're on, as well as every planet in the universe until there is nothing left to destroy! My victory is already assured, because there is nothing that you, your friends, or even Kakarot can do to stop me! They will all die trying to stop me, just as Father died trying to control me!" He then burst into a fit of laughing, cackling like a madman.
Broly gasped as he heard these words. He began sobbing softly to himself as he realized his other side was right. No amount of training could possibly prepare him to face what would no doubt be his greatest enemy; himself. He's right , he thought to himself. I should just give up now. There's no way I can beat him.
Suddenly, Broly heard a voice in his head cry out, No, Broly! Don't let that monster get to you! You can't just give up now! If you do that, he's already won!
Broly suddenly looked around and said in a confused tone, "Kakarot? Is that you? Where are you? Why can I hear you, but not see or feel you?"
Kakarot answered in Broly's head, Yeah, it's me, Broly! I'm speaking to you through King Kai! Listen, Broly. I know you want to stop him, but there is nothing you can do about it right now. There is no point in worrying about that monster at the moment. What you need to do is concentrate on the enemy you're currently fighting.
Broly turned to face Tirek, who was rapidly approaching him. He smiled and said, "You know what, Kakarot? You're right. There's no point in worrying about the future. What I need to focus on is the here and now! And right now, you're going down, you big, ugly brute!" He directed his last statement at Tirek, stopped and stared at him like he was crazy.
"Oh, really?" said Tirek with amusement in his voice, "and just how do you plan on doing that?"
"Like this!" yelled Broly as he began to power up. He concentrated on his painful memories of his other side taking him over, and on the memories of watching himself destroy countless worlds, and being able to do nothing about it. His anger finally hit its breaking point upon Broly recalling himself killing his father, and he bellowed out a primal scream of fury as he snapped. The entire area was bathed in a golden light, causing Tirek to shield his eyes from the blinding light. When the light faded, he lowered his arms and looked at Broly, a gasp escaping his throat. Broly's appearance had changed drastically. His hair was now standing on end, and had changed from black to gold. A similarly-colored aura surrounded his body, and Tirek could see lightning crackling around the aura.
"I-Im-Impossible... He-He's a... You're a... A Saiyan?!" he gasped as he began to step away from the Saiyan. That power increase, Tirek thought to himself, That's not natural, even for a Super Saiyan! Is it possible that he's ascended beyond a Super Saiyan? His thoughts were interrupted by Broly, who was now face-to-face with him.
Broly's face was filled with stoic determination as he said, "I was caught off-guard by you before, Tirek, so i'll say you have won Round 1. Now, let's begin Round 2."
Chapter III: Tirek's Defeat
Tirek couldn't believe his eyes. The man that he had been fighting since it arrived in Equestria, the one that had foiled his plans of getting the Alicorn magic, the that he had been beating with so little effort, was a Saiyan. Tirek hadn't seen a Saiyan in years, much less ever fight one. The last Saiyan he ever met had prevented him from obtaining all the magic in Equestria, and it seemed that this one was inadvertently following in that one's footsteps. But Tirek had made mistakes in his last fight; mistakes that he did not plan to replicate this time. I must not show fear, Tirek thought to himself, or I'll anger him further. I have to win this time. If I don't, then it' all over. Tirek took a battle stance, mentally readying himself for what would no doubt be his greatest, and last, fight.
Broly looked at Tirek readying himself and grinned. "So you're going to fight me, despite our difference in power? You've got guts. I like that in a warrior. Tell me, who are you, and what is your purpose here?"
Tirek swallowed his fear as he said, "I am Lord Tirek, and my goal is to rule over Equestria by draining everypony of their magic. The only obstacle in the way of that goal is you, Saiyan."
Broly took a fighting stance as he said, "My name is Broly, and if you want to rule this world so bad, then you will just have to defeat me. Think you're up to that task, Tirek?"
Tirek's fear faded into excitement as he smiled and yelled out, "Let's find out, shall we, Broly?!"
"Yes, we shall!", retorted Broly as the two flew up into the air and seemingly vanished. Though the two could not be seen, one could see shockwaves every time they clashed. The two fought fiercely, both refusing to give the other the upper hand. The two would occasionally appear, with Broly throwing Tirek into a nearby mountain, or Tirek slamming Broly into said mountain. But what neither of the fighters knew was that they were being watched. Discord, who had arrived in time to see Broly's transformation, was watching the fight from a safe distance, and was overwhelmed by the sight.
This is insane! Discord thought to himself as he watched the battle unfold. Their power; it's unbelievable! I never thought anyone could be so strong! That Saiyan's power exceeds even mine! It's a good thing that Saiyan seems to be on our side; otherwise, this planet would be doomed for sure! As Discord continued to watch the fight, another thought crossed his mind; he was out of practice with his own energy. It had taken a lot of effort to be able to something as simple as generating an aura. He looked up at the two warriors, making a mental note to himself to get back into training after this was over.
Meanwhile, far away in Otherworld, on a path known as Snake Way, two other beings were watching the battle unfold. "Did you see that, King Kai? He somehow managed to ascend beyond Super Saiyan, just like Gohan did back at the Cell Games!" exclaimed the first being as he watched the fight with excitement.
"Indeed, Goku," said the second being, identified as King Kai, "and to add to our luck, Broly does not appear to posses any evil in his heart."
"What?! Are you you serious?!," exclaimed Goku with surprise. "But I thought Broly was pure evil! How can someone like him suddenly become good?"
"That's easy to explain," said King Kai. "As you know Goku, your home planet, Planet Vegeta, was destroyed long ago."
"Go on," said Goku, staring at him intently.
Well, when the planet was destroyed, Broly's mental state was left with extreme trauma; too much, in fact, for his mind to take. As a result, his mind split in two. One side of him remained pure; the other side developed into the monster you know of as the Legendary Super Saiyan. But somehow, as a result of you defeating that part of him, his true side has finally been able to emerge."
"But I don't understand, King Kai," whined Goku in confusion. "If this is Broly's good side, then where is his evil side? Is it still in his body, or is it somewhere else?"
King Kai appeared to concentrate for a moment before saying, "I can't say, Goku. All I know is that it's no longer inside him. For some reason, though, his evil side hasn't passed into the afterlife."
"How do you know that, King Kai?" asked Goku.
"Because if Broly's evil side had passed into the afterlife, then you would have fought him, wouldn't you?" King Kai said in a questioning manner.
Goku then thought for a moment and said, "Now that I think about it, I would've felt his energy if he had died, because he would've shown up at King Yemma's palace, and I would have fought him. But if he's not dead, then where is he?"
"I wish I knew, Goku," said King Kai with a sigh as he looked up into the sky. "I wish I knew..."
Broly and Tirek continued fighting, neither refusing to give up. But as time wore on, Broly began to slowly, but surely, overpower Tirek. Tirek's eyes began widen in fear as the Saiyan began to overpower him. Suddenly, Tirek jumped backwards and began to form an enormous orb of red energy between his hands, as well as an orb of magic between his horns that was equal in size. Broly looked at the sight with mild amusement. "So, that's it, then? You're really planning on destroying me?" he said, smiling.
Tirek glared at the Saiyan, exclaiming, "I will not let myself lose to another Saiyan! Prepare for oblivion!" He then threw the orb of energy and fired a blast of magic behind it, pushing it toward the Saiyan.
Broly smirked as a small orb of green energy formed in his hand. He then looked at the oncoming attack and said, "Then our fight ends now. Take this, Tirek! Omega Blaster! " He then threw the green orb at the oncoming attack, the orb expanding to equal the size as the two attacks met in mid air, creating a clash as the attacks sought dominance over each other. Tirek pushed more magic into his attack, causing the two orbs to shift toward Broly. The Saiyan responded by simply firing green-colored energy orbs into the larger one, pushing the two attacks back into place.
The two fighters continued pouring all their power into their attacks, but as time wore on, Tirek reached his limit, and his attack was slowly pushed toward him. He tried to push the attack back, but it was all in vain as the attack began to engulf him. So this is how it ends , he thought to himself, destroyed by the very mistakes that cost me my last fight. I can't honestly say that this was an unexpected result. Despite the things that I've done, I regret nothing! I'm gone, and i'm going out with a bang! Tirek then gave a wide grin, laughing as his body was disintegrated by Broly's attack. When the dust settled, nothing was left; Tirek was no more. Broly sighed as he floated toward the ground, his hair returning to it's black color as he landed.
"It's over," sighed Broly, "you can come out, whoever you are." He turned to see one of the oddest creatures he had ever seen. The being appeared like it just couldn't decide what it wanted to be, and had settled on being part everything. "Who are you?" asked Broly as he looked at the creature with confusion.
"I am Discord," the creature said timidly.
"Where are the others at?" asked Broly.
"Somewhere in Everfree Forest, I believe," said Discord.
Broly smiled as he put an arm around Discord and started walking towards the forest. "Well, let's go give them the good news, shall we?" he said, getting a nod in response from Discord. As the two walked, Broly looked up toward the sky, his thoughts drifting to his darker half. I know you're not dead, Monster , he thought to himself, and when you come for me, I'll be waiting. I've never been able to have a life because of you, but that's in the past. You will not take another life, Monster. And that is a promise.
Chapter IV: A Dark Plot Emerges
The Demon Realm, contrary to popular belief, is not the same as Hell. Rather, it is a physical plane on the opposite side of the known universe. It is a world untouched and unknown to even the Supreme Kais, for it lies outside their domain. This world is led by the Makaioshin- the evil god entities. It is a world inhabited by demons of all shapes and sizes. It also serves as the base of operations for a group of evil beings known as the Dark Demon Realm Army, ruled by the three demons Towa, Mira, and Dabura.
Recently, a call had been issued by Towa, informing the others to gather at the Makai world for a meeting. Within an hour, Mira and Dabura had arrived. When they landed, they were met with an amused Towa, flanked by two Saiyans. One of the Saiyans was dressed in black and beige colored Battle Armor, black pants, red armbands with black ones worn over them, and red leggings with black ones over them. The Saiyan also seemed to be wearing a white mask over his face, adorned with the symbol of the Time Breakers. The other Saiyan was dressed in a red bodysuit, white pants with a black sash tied around it, and gold armbands and boots adorned with blue gems. This Saiyan, unlike the other, was not wearing a mask, and a devilish smirk was on his face.
Dabura looked at Towa and said, "So, sister, it seems you've convinced Broly to join our ranks. And as expected, you didn't under exaggerate his power in the slightest."
Mira scoffed as he glared at Dabura. "Hmph. I doubt he's as strong as you say he is, Mira. How does adding one Saiyan to our ranks help us in any way?"
Towa gave a mischievous grin. "Why don't you show Mira your true power, Broly?"
Broly nodded, taking a few steps forward and stopping between Towa and Mira. He roared out as he began to power up. The ground began shaking violently, causing everyone to begin floating just above it. As Broly continued powering up, lightning began to strike the ground around him, and his screams became crazed laughter. Dabura and Mira both stared at Broly in shock. Towa smirked, knowing that the 'show' wasn't over yet.
Broly suddenly gave out a loud, blood-curdling scream, and his body exploded. As the dust settled, Broly was now much larger than before, both physically and in power. But, to everyone's surprise, Towa included, he didn't stop. His power continued to rise, and his aura flared out, lightning arcing around it. His hair glowed brightly, and began to grow longer, reaching past his waist. His power finally stopped climbing, and he looked up at the demons, a devilish look on his face. "Are you pleased, Miss Towa?"
Towa stuttered for a moment before replying, "Y- yes, Broly. You've done well enough. You may power down now."
Broly powered down to his Super Saiyan form and crossed his arms, beaming with pride at his accomplishment. Heh, I bet she didn't expect me to achieve Super Saiyan 3 in such a short time! , he thought to himself.
He's progressing faster than I thought , Towa thought to herself. If he continues at this rate, I won't be able to keep him under control. He'll get out of hand, and then he'll kill us all. She shook her head at the thought, then turned to her brother and husband. "Well, gentlemen, shall we get to business?"
The demons nodded. "Yes," said Mira, "As I recall, you summoned us, Towa. I am correct in assuming there's more here than just Broly?"
Towa nodded. "You are correct, Mira. There's another planet that I've found with vast amounts of energy. A planet called Equis."
At the mention of the name, the Saiyan that had remained on the ground suddenly charged at Mira, slamming his elbow into the demon's face. The masked Saiyan then charged at Towa and she lifted her staff, pointing it at the Saiyan's mask. A gem on the mask began glowing, and the Saiyan began clutching his head, as if in pain. After a few moments, the Saiyan stood up, unmoving.
It would seem as though planet Equis holds some sort of importance to him, Towa mused to herself. She shrugged. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. We did find him on that planet long ago.
"Equis? Didn't we visit that planet a few thousand years ago?" said Mira, rubbing his injury. "It's that planet with the ponies, right?"
"That's right," said Towa, "And that planet's now overflowing with energy just waiting to be collected."
"'Was' overflowing with energy, you mean." said Broly.
"What do you mean, 'was', Broly?" asked Towa.
"My good half destroyed a being on that world by the name of Tirek," Broly explained, "From what we could make of the situation, we both think that Tirek had somehow powered himself up immensely by using magic that he had absorbed from the planet's inhabitants."
"I see," Towa mused. "Come, Mira. We've work to do."
"You have a plan, Towa?" asked Mira.
"You bet I do, Mira. We're going to be gone awhile, Dabura. Could you watch Fu until we get back?"
Dabura shrugged absentmindedly. "I suppose I could. I don't see why, though. He's not exactly a kid anymore, you know."
"Just watch him," Towa said, grabbing Mira and disappearing from sight.
Dabura shrugged, turned around, and called out, "Fu? Where are you, Fu?" Suddenly, Dabura felt himself being lifted into the air. He tried to struggle, but an invisible force binded him, restricting his movements.
"Hello, Uncle Dabura," said a voice that made the Demon King's blood run cold. Dabura knew more about Fu than most did; not even Fu's parents knew as much as Dabura did.
"Hello, Fu," said Dabura kindly. "I assume you already know?"
"Pfft, of course I know, Uncle. Mother has once again tasked you with watching me!"
Dabura felt himself being lowered onto the ground. Once he was there, he turned around and faced his nephew. Fu was dressed in a large, heavy black cloak, and his hood was drawn up, obscuring his body from view.
Dabura watched as Fu seemed to glare at Broly. "Broly!" he said, "What did I say about showing off!?"
"My most sincerest apologies, Lord Fu," said Broly in a monotone voice.
Dabura gasped. "Your controlling him, Fu!?"
"Of course I'm controlling him," Fu replied dryly, "You don't honestly expect me to let Mother try to control someone she obviously can't, do you? Have you forgotten whose magic is stronger?"
Dabura sighed, rubbing his eyelids with his thumb and index finger. "I should have known it was you from the start, Fu. I assume Towa knows nothing?"
"Of course not," said Fu, chuckling to himself, "and neither does she know of my plan."
Dabura looked at him suddenly. "Plan? What plan?"
"Fufufufu," laughed Fu, forming a large crystal ball in front of him. "Come and see, Uncle. You will learn soon enough."
