Chapter 9
Canterlot Escapade (Final)

Equestria: Canterlot Castle Throne Room

The flight from the Plaza to the castle was quite hectic for Flash and Sora. The battle for Canterlot was raging in different parts of the city and Sora couldn’t hold back his desire to help drive the Nobodies and other strange creatures. Both of them stopped every so often to help a group of guards fight, then they would fly off towards the castle. The cycle repeated enroute to the castle. The battle was over by the time they got to the throne room of the castle.

Flash was about to open the throne room door, but he heard voices and noises behind the door. Sora heard as well and pressed his ear to the door. After a few seconds, his face seemed to fill with rage. “Xigbar,” he whispered, with anger laced in. He crept away from the door and moved to one of the windows.

“What’s Xigbar?” Flash asked as Sora opened a window.

“Not what, Who,” he answered, “Xigbar was a mercenary named Braig that worked for a guy called Xehanort. He later joined a group called Organization XIII and he became Xigbar. I took down the Organization twice, but it seems to have come back.”

Sora then flew out of the window with Flash behind him. They stealthily flew to a window that connected to the throne room. They carefully peered through and saw Xigbar and who Sora assumed to be Princess Celestia, fighting. He saw that Xigbar was using his signature Arrow guns and Sora saw that Princess Celestia had Keyblade.

Sora was amazed at the fact that the Princess had a Keyblade. Apparently, Keyblades were more common than he had thought. The fight between the Princess and Xigbar went predictably. Xigbar was slammed with a massive Firaga spell into a pillar in the room, causing it to collapse on top of him. Just as he was slammed into the pillar, he saw Twilight and a unicorn guard enter the room. Xigbar said something he couldn’t hear and then he bolted from the room. Knocking over Twilight and the unicorn guard. The guard got up and prepared to fire a spell, but got a sniper bolt to the helmet.

As soon as the unicorn was knocked down, Sora felt a strange feeling in his heart. A pain that he had felt when Goofy was hit hard in the head with a boulder and thought he was dead. Why did he feel this way? He didn’t know him...Did he? He was then flooded with voices in his head.
“Mom!”

“Shining! Shh! Your brother and sister are sleeping.”

“Sorry! I'm just excited to see them!”

“They're over in those cribs.”

“Wow. They're so tiny and...and...frail. Its cute in a way, but they seem so...unprotected.”

“What are you thinking, son?”

“I'm a big brother now. I now have to help protect them.”

“Don’t think too much like that.”

“Dad! I'm just saying that I want to be the best big brother they'll ever have.”

"Okay. Just be careful.”

"Don’t worry Twily...Silver...I'll keep you both safe. I promise.”
The voices cut off, and Sora re-entered reality. Looking into the throne room, he saw Twilight using Princess Celestia’s Keyblade to fight a mysterious unicorn that was also using a keyblades. The fight went on for several minutes before Twilight was disarmed. The unicorn lifted his weapon to strike her down!

Some unforeseen instinct suddenly kicked Sora into high gear and he dove through the window and parried the strike.

“Speak of the Devil,” the unicorn said, before swinging Sora’s Keyblade off of his, “And he shall appear.”

A full on Keyblade duel broke between the two ponies. After locking blades for a moment, Sora said four familiar, yet foreign words, “Don’t...Touch...My...Sister!” He then swung his Keyblade hard and cracked the unicorn’s helmet. Sora was then blasted back and he landed next to Flash and Twilight.

Looking back at the foul-mouthed unicorn, he saw the helmet removed, thus confirming who the unicorn was.

“It's nice to see you again, Vanitas,” Sora said with cocky sarcasm. Vanitas had features similar to Sora’s, except for hair and eye color (black and amber respectively). Vanitas looked him up and down before replying.

“Right back at you,” he replied with venom in his voice, “I hope you enjoyed the show, because I need to leave with these.” He then used his magic levitating five differently shaped and colored crystals. Sora heard Twilight gasp. “You know what these are then?”

“The Elements of Harmony! But...How?” She said in disbelief.

“Remember last week?” When he said that, Twilight’s eyes widened. “Yes, that crystal we we created is now the Element of Magic. We have all six and they will become part of something great. Something that will change the worlds.”

Sora realized what Vanitas was talking about. Without thought, he charged Vanitas and leapt to attack him. Vanitas, forgoing his keyblade, promptly slammed a hoof into his face. That was the last thing he saw.

Equestria: Canterlot ER

Sora awoke to the sound of a heart monitor. Sora opened his eyes and saw that he was in yet another hospital. A bit more fancy than what he had seen in Ponyville, mostly because he had his own hospital room. What surprised him was that, sleeping in a chair in the corner of the room was a white unicorn with blue hair. His Cutie mark was a shield with a six point star in it with three white stars above it.

Sora took a moment to examine the unicorn from a distance. He felt as if he knew the unicorn, but as far as he could recall, he doesn’t.

The unicorn stirred in his sleep and when he saw that Sora was awake, he was looking at him in wonder. The unicorn slowly moved towards him. When he was a foot or two from the hospital bed, he spoke.

“Silver Crown? Is it you?” The unicorn said. When Sora heard his voice, the voices he heard came back to memory. The voice he heard from the unicorn was older than one particular voice he heard, but it was the same voice. He looked into the unicorn’s eyes and he was suddenly flooded with memories he never knew he had. Those light blue eyes were the same ones that marveled over him as a foal.

With tears in his eyes and joy in his voice, he replied, “Shining Armor,” he sniffled a bit, “I missed you...I...I…” From there, tears began to flow freely as the two brothers embraced each other, having had been separated for nearly 18 years. They both silently vowed that nothing was ever going to separate them again.

Author's Note

Please leave some positive feedback. I was trying to get the last part in the hospital as emotional as possible and I personally feel it went well, but what did y'all think of it. :fluttercry: :raritycry: :raritydespair:
