Canterlot Escapade (Part 2)

Equestria: Canterlot Airspace

As soon as Sora jumped off of the chariot, she concluded that he was either brave or crazy. She panicked briefly as he plummeted into the melee below them, but calmed down a bit when she saw that he had survived the fall and was helping the guards at the gate. She turned to Flash, “Fly to Sora and make sure he gets to the castle.”

He saluted her and flew off of the chariot to make sure Sora got to the castle. No sooner had he done that, the chariot began to get peppered by Sniper fire. The chariot rocked back and forth to avoid the bolts that were coming their way. Despite the evasive action, one of the Sniper shots hit one of the guard’s harness and the chariot began to plummet to the ground.

“Hold On!” Twilight yelled to the other passengers. With the exception of Rainbow and Fluttershy, everypony on board held onto the sides of the chariot. With a loud crash, the chariot landed hard and broke to pieces.

Twilight pulled herself from the wreckage and carefully moved her appendages, checking for broken bones. Finding none, she turned to the chariot wreck and called out, “Is everypony okay?”

A few moaning sounds came from the wreckage, indicating that at least somepony was okay. Twilight used her magic and lifted the wreck and saw Pinkie, Applejack, and Rarity laying on the ground. Pinkie was giggling hysterically. Applejack was unconscious underneath Rarity, who was laying on her in shock. Twilight looked up just as Rainbow and Fluttershy flew into view.

“Rarity! Applejack!” Both pegasi shouted out. They both flew the two on the ground and began checking on them. Pinkie Pie, after getting over her laughing fit, got up and stood by Twilight. Her smile lessened when she saw the others’ condition. She moved to comfort them.

Twilight looked around her and heard a large battle raging near the castle. She decided to go and help with what she could, considering that her former mentor could be in danger. “Girls, meet me at the castle when you can. I’m going to help the princesses.” The girls gave no objection to it, so she took flight towards the castle.

Equestria: Canterlot Castle Gates

When Twilight got within sight of the castle, she saw the guards fighting against a bunch of strange blue creatures. She flew towards the fight, but she paused when she heard a strange sound. Turning to the sound, she saw a Sniper bolt headed at her. Twilight moved to dodge the bolt. The bolt missed her, but it did graze her wing.

Twilight gasped in pain as her injured wing brought her down to the ground with a thud. As she was standing up and clearing the stars from her vision, six portals appeared on the ground around her. From those portals came strange, slender, silver, humanoid creatures. They surrounded her and five of them started to jump around in anticipation for a fight. The remaining one slowly approached her and almost seemed to beckon her forward.

“We have come for you, my lady,” she heard, as if it came from the creature. Twilight was confused at those words. Before she could ask what it meant, she heard the sound of several zippers. Looking at the beckoning creature, she saw said zipper unzipping and opened what looked like a fanged mouth. Carefully observing, the fangs were the teeth of the zipper.

The creatures began to advance. Twilight charged her horn and readied for a fight. The beckoning creature got too close and she blasted magic at it. The creature jumped back and contorted it’s body, narrowly avoiding the attack. She was so surprised at the creature’s ability to contort and move like living rubber, that she was caught off guard by the other five. They wrapped themselves around her like ropes, restraining her legs, wings, and horn.

The beckoning creature then moved forward to try and move Twilight and her restraints to another portal that formed just behind it. Before it reached her, she heard the sound of spontaneous flames and something being thrown. The creatures that held her suddenly hissed and jumped off of her as two literal wheels of flame flew by, narrowly missing her and the creatures. She turned to where they flew, but there was only another portal that was just barely closing.

“Royal Guard! To The Princess!” Twilight heard from the Castle Gates. Looking up, she saw a Royal Guard in purple armor rallying the guard. She recognized the armor and the voice.

“Shining Armor!” She called out.

“Twilight, I’m coming!” He responded. The rallied guards pushed past the fight at the gate and charged towards the creatures. Three of the creatures fled into portals while the other three attacked the guards that approached the scene. The creatures were a hooffull, but they were dispatched.

Once the creatures were gone, including the blue ones at the gate, Twilight directed some guards to go and find the chariot wreck. Before she could do anything else to try to direct efforts to flush the creatures out of Canterlot, Shining Armor pulled her aside in his command tent.

“I’m glad you’re okay,” he said to her.

“Me too, BBBFF,” Twilight responded with a hug. The hug lasted a few minutes before Shining broke the hug and gave a serious yet worried look.

“Shining, what’s wrong?” She asked.

“Twily, how much do you know about our family?”

The question caught her off guard. “Why? I don’t know why you ask.”

Shining rubbed the back of his head and said, “Well...it was like this…”

Flashback: Shining Armor’s POV

My Lord.”

Shining Armor awoke with a start. His wife, Princess Cadence, also stirred, but more gently. He looked outside and could see the moon in the sky. He turned to the door and saw a Night Guard standing in the doorway with nervousness on his face.

“Ugh, why are you waking me this late?” He grumbled, “I’m trying to sleep.”

“Well, Sir, there is somepony that wishes to speak with you,” the guard said nervously.

Groaning again, Shining responded, “Then tell him to wait. I’m trying to sleep.” He covered his head with the blanket.

“He said it can’t wait.”

“What can’t?” He asked, almost shouting. The guard didn’t respond but held his nervous face. Shining dropped his anger when he felt that the guard wouldn’t go away. He sighed and got himself out of the bed to handle the problem. Not knowing what to expect, he placed on his armor and then followed the guard out to the mysterious pony.

The guard led Shining Armor to the Canterlot Castle gardens, where the mysterious pony was sitting on a stone bench. The guard left Shining to deal with the pony. Shining marched up to the pony from the side. Before he could demand what was so important to wake him that late, the pony spoke. “You have arrived.”

“I’ve been to see him,” he said in a deep voice that seemed devoid of emotions. Turning to Shining, he continued, “He looks a lot like you.”

Shining was confused at the statement. “Who are you and what are you talking about?!” He demanded.

“I am what’s left...or...maybe I’m all there ever was.”

Slowly losing his patience, Shining said, with his voice raised, “I meant your name! And what are you trying to tell me!?”

The pony stood up off of the bench and continued. “My name is of no importance. And as for what I’m to tell you…” The pony pulled back his hood to reveal a silver unicorn horn, “...What better way to know than to see for yourself.” He then lunged at Shining with his horn, giving him no chance to put up a barrier spell in time. The horn made contact with his and images started flooding into his mind.

He saw a bipedal creature with a spiky mane fighting a variety of strange creatures with a strange sword that looked like a key. Fighting alongside the creature was a bipedal dog with a shield and a bipedal duck with a strange staff/wand. The rush of mental images overwhelmed Shining and he fell over from exhaustion. He looked up at the mysterious pony and saw that he was walking towards a black vortex. The vortex and the pony vanished.

Shining got up and walked to where the vortex was and scanned the spot, looking for the magical remains to see if he could track the mysterious pony. He didn’t find any, but when he turned to leave, he saw a folder on the bench where the pony had sat earlier. Picking it up with his magic he examined it and found birth record documents from the Royal Census Archives.

Shining read the birth records, finding info on himself and his LSBFF and newest Princess, Twilight. He found one last record of somepony’s birth. He read the info carefully, trying not miss any details. What he found on that record surprised him greatly. He turned to the castle to tell his wife and then later grill his parents for information.

Equestria: Canterlot Castle Gates (Twilight’s POV)

Twilight looked at the birth records that Shining Armor had given her when he got to that part in the story. She examined the records, finding nothing out of place or odd in her’s or her brother’s birth records. The things she found odd were in the last set of records. The first thing she found that she thought was odd, was that it was implying that she had a younger brother. The second thing was that made it odd, was that the younger brother was just barely two minutes younger than her. The third thing that was odd, was that her parents, Twilight Velvet and Night Light, hadn’t mentioned anything about this younger brother. And it all extremely coincided with what she heard when she heard the voices when talking to Sora.

The voices were that of her parents naming herself and her twin brother, Silver Crown.

“You okay, Twily?” Shining Armor asked out of concern.

“I’m just confused,” she said, “I don’t know anything of this younger brother, nor do I have any idea as to why Mom and Dad kept it a secret.”

“Me neither, but…” Shining started to say, but was interrupted when a pegasus guard ran into the tent.

He bowed quickly, “My Lord and Lady, we’ve received a report that the creatures have fled the city, but there has been no word about the Princess’ condition!”

Both Twilight’s and Shining Armor’s eyes suddenly got big with realization. They both simultaneously shouted out, “Cadence/Celestia!” They then bolted to the castle.

Equestria: Canterlot Castle Throne Room

Twilight and Shining Armor burst into the throne room just as they saw a dark grey pegasus, with a long salt and pepper mane, and had various facial scars and an eyepatch get blown across the room. He impacted a pillar and was immediately buried in rubble and stone. They both turned to where he was blasted from and saw Princess Celestia pointing a Keyblade at where the pegasus was blasted.

Twilight did a double take...A Keyblade?! Why and how did Princess Celestia have a Keyblade?! Before she could try to figure out any more, groaning was heard from the pile of rubble. Looking back at the rubble, she saw that he was still alive and was digging himself out of the rubble.

After he dug himself out of the rubble, he glared at Celestia with his one good eye. “I keep forgetting-Don’t mess with Keyblade wielders.” He panted a bit, trying to regain his energy lost from the fight he had, then continued, “But you know what? That just means I made the right choice.” He creeped to the side, placing himself between Celestia and the other two. “Well, he wanted me to buy time, and I’d say he got it.”

The pegasus then took off, knocking Shining Armor and Twilight to the side. Shining got up and went to cast a restraint spell on him. The pegasus turned around, mid-flight, and took aim with a strange weapon that wasn’t in his hooves earlier. He then shot off a Sniper bolt from the weapon, hitting Shining in the helmet, knocking him down.

Twilight ran to her brother, checking his head. He was unconscious and the spot where the bolt hit was bruised, but otherwise unharmed. Twilight then ran to Princess Celestia, ready to embrace her in a hug. She stopped when she felt that something was off. She scanned the room, left and right, up and down, until she spotted the problem on the chandelier. A blood red unicorn with a black tail and his head was covered by a dome-like mask. In his hooves, he had a keyblade, one that looked like it was made of evil looking chains and gears.

The masked unicorn dropped from the chandelier over Celestia. Twilight saw that he was angling himself to attack Celestia. Before Twilight could shout a warning, the unicorn slashed downward. Princess Celestia flinched from the attack, not seeming to have been affected by the attack, but then fell over, unconscious. Her keyblade clattered against the ground when it fell from her hooves.

Twilight looked at the unicorn and then to her former mentor’s keyblade. The unicorn was preparing his keyblade to stab Celestia. Twilight quickly ran and grabbed Celestia’s keyblade and readied it to fight the attacker. The unicorn saw this and laughed like a maniac before speaking.

“Well, I was hoping for some sort of challenge. It seems you’ll have to do,” he said in a dark boredom, “Besides, you need to be broken in anyway.” He then readied his keyblade to fight.

He teleported, leaving an afterimage of himself, and made the attempt to attack from above. Twilight sensed the move, having kept an eye out for magic attacks/moves. She jumped out of the way and made to slash at him. He flipped backwards and fired a slow moving ball of fire at her. Twilight backed up and kept away from the fireball. The fireball split into three faster homing fireballs. Twilight fired up a barrier, blocking the fireballs, and readied for his next attack.

The fight then went into a pattern, where Twilight was mostly on the defensive and the unicorn was on the offensive. For every attack she made, the unicorn threw out three. Despite the energy conserving strategy, Twilight began to tire out. This made her a bit sloppy and she began to receive a few gashes and burns until he knocked Celestia’s keyblade out of her hooves.

“So pathetic,” he said as he shook his head, “Ventus put up a better fight than you did.” He raised his hoof to strike her down with his keyblade, but with the crash of breaking glass and the clang of metal striking metal, his keyblade was intercepted by Sora’s Keyblade.

“Speak of the Devil…” The unicorn swung Sora’s keyblade off of his, “...And he shall appear.” Sora and the unicorn began to fight more fast and furious than she was able to. Twilight was still in shock that she was almost killed, but had held her own in a fight. As she was processing these thoughts, she saw Flash enter through the same window that Sora broke through. He approached Twilight with concern in his eyes, having seen her shock. He quickly hugged her and held her in that embrace, working to comfort her.

Sora then was blown back from the fight, landing next to Twilight and Flash. Both of them looked towards the unicorn and saw that the dome mask was cracked. The unicorn dropped his keyblade and removed the mask, swearing up a storm as he did so.

Behind the mask was...Sora?

Author's Note

A Real Shocker! Right?
:pinkiehappy: Right!
Well anyway, I hope you like the new chapter and be patient. It takes a lot for me to do this (y'know, with trying to apply for college, working a job, and other things are factors).
:raritycry: And I just can't see why you don't give him respect for what he is trying to do despite that. :raritydespair: It's just like myself when Sweetie Belle visits.
:unsuresweetie: Sorry sis.
:duck: It's not your fault. They just need to leave a comment on how the story is progressing so far, as well as opinions/constructive criticism.
