Canterlot Escapade (Part 1)

Equestria: En Route to Canterlot

The trip was starting off smoothly. With it like that, it gave Sora the opportunity to try to think of what Organization XIII was up to and analyze the mares and stallion. The only thing he could figure about the Organization was that they wanted him dead. They either knew he would be a threat to their goals, or they didn’t want to take any chances with him messing with their goals.

His Analyzation of the six mares and one stallion went better. The stallion, Flash Sentry, was obviously part of the military of this world. His brief glances at Twilight indicated that he was her bodyguard and, if he went off what he saw earlier in the day, her love interest. Rarity, judging by her over-styled appearance, was the lady of the group. Applejack seemed like a hard worker and wasn’t overly concerned by her appearance like Rarity. Rainbow Dash seemed in the same boat as Applejack in terms of appearance, but seemed less of the worker, despite her restlessness. Fluttershy, true to her name, was shy. Pinkie Pie was just one big enigma that he couldn’t properly figure out.

Twilight, however, was more of a mystery than Pinkie. In the short span of a few hours, he and her had treated each other like family. He felt that, deep in his heart, he knew Twilight from somewhere, and he felt that she held the same feelings. He couldn’t figure out how any of that was possible, considering that he had never been to this world before.

Sora’s thoughts were interrupted when he saw their destination more clearly. It was a city, complete with a castle, on the side of a mountain. Not on the top of a cliff on the side, but, legitimately on the SIDE of said mountain. Must have been some form of magic. All his experience in traveling to other worlds has told him: if there is something that isn’t easily explainable, place magic as the explanation.

However, amid his awe, he felt there was something off about the city, especially the castle. More evidence of that happened when he saw small red flashes from the castle. Within a few seconds, he saw several red dots streaking towards the chariot. Sniper Bolts!

Look Out!” Sora shouted as he drew his keyblade and instinctively deflected all the bolts back to the Snipers.

“What was that?!” Fluttershy shouted quietly.

“Snipers!” He answered, “We need to get closer to the ground, quickly!”

“How can we trust you?” Flash asked, with hostility in his voice.

“Have I ever give you a reason to not trust me?” Sora asked back. Flash opened his mouth to respond but he looked as though that he had no answer. He turned to the guards operating the Chariot and directed them to fly lower, over the city gates. However, the city gates didn’t look any better than the castle.

Whatever guards were there were fighting a losing battle against Dusk and Berserker Nobodies. Sora saw the chaos at the gate and immediately jumped off of the chariot and into the fray. As he fell, he drew his keyblade and readied for a fight. Readjusting his fall, he moved and sliced a Berserker clean in half, causing it to dissolve into nothingness.

The guards were surprised by Sora’s appearance, but when they saw the Nobody army turn it’s attention to him, they rallied and began to push the Nobodies back. Sora hacked down any Nobody that got within slashing range as they were pushed back. When the Equestrian side got close enough, he began to push the Nobodies back with the guards until all the Nobodies that were attacking the gate were vanquished or they fled through the Dark Corridors.

Equestria: Canterlot (City Gates)

As soon as it was clear that the battle was won, the guards began gathering the wounded and bringing them to a temporary infirmary. Sora was amazed at how the Nobodies were attacking to get in rather than kill. The ratio of wounded to dead showed that.

As Sora was marveling over the aftermath of the battle, a unicorn guard, probably a captain, approached him. “You are a skilled fighter for a civilian,” he commented.

Sora turned to said guard and said, “I’ve had to deal with a lot in my life, so I had to learn how to fight in order to survive.”

The guard looked at him with an analytical look before pointing out, “You fought those things as if you fought them before.”

Sora was surprised, but he only showed it for a second before he said, “I’ve...had some dealings with them in the past. It’s not something I like talking about.”

“Why not?”

“They held a friend of mine captive, using her to manipulate and control my actions,” Sora said, feeling his emotions rise, “I thought that the Organization was brought down, but it came back. Twice.”

“What were they trying to make you do?”

Sora closed his eyes in anger, remembering from Roxas what the Organization did. “It’s a touchy subject.”

The guard was about to press for more info, but a pegasus guard flew in from the city. He looked as though he was rushed and worried. “Captain Sword Play!” The pegasus shouted, “Orders from Lord Captain Armor!” He held a scroll out and Spear Tip took it with his magic.

After looking over the scroll, he dismissed the pegasus with a nod. “We need to get to the castle gates!” He shouted to the other guards, “Leave a small detail to watch the wounded!” He turned to Sora and said, “You need to find a place to hide. We can’t have civilians wandering in a war zone.”

“I need to get to the castle, and besides, if there are more of those creatures, you need somepony who fought them for years,” Sora objected.

The captain was about to object to his request, but shouting was heard from inside of the city. Before any of the guards could react, Sora had bolted through the gate towards the shouting.

Equestria: Canterlot (Main Plaza)

Sora followed the shouting until he found a few ponies surrounded by some odd creatures. He was expecting Heartless, but he didn’t expect these things. They were primarily blue and had red eyes that seem to show a form of emotion.

Sora took action and began to hack and slash through the creatures. Each one he defeated disappeared into black smoke and blue fire. Once he had gotten to the gathered ponies, motioned with his head for them to run while he was fighting the creatures. The ponies fled and Sora kept fighting, holding their attention on himself. Within a few minutes, the guards from the gates appeared and started fighting them as well.

Within a few minutes, the blue creatures were defeated and gone. Captain Sword Play checked on the troops, finding no Equestrian casualties. He then approached Sora with a bit of a scowl on his face.

“You’re skilled, but reckless,” he began to scold, “I told you to stay away from the fighting-”

“Hold up!” Two of the ponies that Sora had saved came running up. Both were unicorns. One, male, was white with a blue, styled mane, and had a French style mustache. He wore a fancy, dark blue tuxedo. He had three golden crowns as his cutie mark. The other, female, was white with an extremely light pink, flowing mane. She was slightly slender and had two purple and one gold fleur de lis as her cutie mark.

“We can vouch for him!” The male unicorn said.

The Captain looked at the unicorn and said, “I’m sorry, Sir Fancy Pants, but he had directly ignored an order to stay away from any fights!”

“If he hadn’t shown up, we would have been dead!” shouted the other unicorn.

“That may be, but he still…” The Captain started to say, but was interrupted by an explosion somewhere else. The two ponies, Sora, and the assembled guards started looking around, trying to make sure there was no trouble nearby.

Sora’s ears swiveled upon hearing a sound on a nearby rooftop. He turned around just as he heard an arrowgun fire. Sora summoned his keyblade and deflected the incoming bolt. He then looked to where the bolt came from and saw someone, now somepony, that he had never thought he would see.

Xigbar!” Sora shouted. His shout brought everypony’s attention to the figure on the rooftop. There, there was a dark grey pegasus with a long salt and pepper mane done in a single ponytail. He had a variety of scars on his face, one forcing him to wear an eyepatch on his left eye. They couldn’t see his cutie mark, as the robe/cloak he was wearing covered it completely.

“Hello, Kiddo,” he responded sarcastically, “I hope you’ve been a good boy.” He looked down at Sora, seeing only the angry scowl on his face. “It doesn’t look like it.”

“SHUT UP!!” Sora bellowed up at him.

“Ha! Same as always. Giving me that face as if I just drowned your goldfish,” Xigbar taunted.

“JUST SHUT UP!!” Sora bellowed back as he flew up to where Xigbar was. Sora went to attack but Xigbar sidestepped the attack. He then turned and bucked Sora hard off of the rooftop.

“Temper, temper,” Xigbar taunted further. “You’re worse than the Somber One.” He then looked at his hoof as if looking at a wristwatch. “I’d like to hang around more, but I’ve got an appointment up at the castle. I’ll give your regards to your brother and sister when I see them.” He then vanished in a Dark Corridor.

Sora would have shouted back at him, but what he said confused him. He would talk to his brother and sister when he saw them. As far as what he could remember, he didn’t have any other siblings. He had friends that he could consider siblings, but actual blood sibling?

“Was he part of that Organization you mentioned?” Captain Sword Play asked carefully.

“Yeah,” Sora said, “Number II in the first group, Number III or IV in the second group. Now, I don’t know his current rank. I don’t even know what they are planning to do.”

“Judging by how you yelled at him, you seemed to be…”

“Sora!” Everypony looked to see Flash Sentry flying to where the group was. “We need to get to the castle immediately!” Without answering, Sora extended his wings and flew to where Flash was as if he knew how to fly. Sora gave him a look of combined sorrow, confusion, and anger. They then flew towards the castle without a word from either.
