Chapter Thirteen: Day Two

Two days later, Rainbow Dash was in the mare's locker room, getting ready for the second day of training. Spitfire hadn't announced who would be taking over for the day, but she did say three elite Wonderbolts would be coming to watch the practice as well!

Everypony was ecstatic. Although Dash had already met all the elite 'Bolts, she was still super excited! I mean, who wouldn't be?

Nopony. Exactly.

Anyway, once Rainbow had pulled her flight suit on, she stretched her wings out, and then took to the air, her rainbow trail following shortly after.

Dash did many different tricks, and spins, before spotting Rapidfire coming out of the locker rooms with Spitfire. Spitfire signaled all the recruits to come down to cloud level, and then turned to Rapidfire.

"You sure you got this? You won't be too busy looking at the mares?" She asked him. Rapidfire just shrugged, and rolled his eyes.

"Oh relax, Spitty! We'll be fine! We're all one big happy group, right?" Rapid said, putting on a cheesy grin. Spitfire sighed, and turned to the large group in front of them.

"Alright, recruits! Today's training will be led by Rapidfire! There will be three other Wonderbolts here, just to make sure you're all... Safe..." Spitfire said, hesitating at the end. Rapid just rolled his eyes again. Then, three other elite Wonderbolts stepped out.

They were Lightning Streak, Soarin, and Wave Chill. Spitfire beckoned them over.

"Wave Chill, Lightning Streak, and Soarin will be overlooking the practice today. Now, I am going to leave you all with Rapidfire. Good luck, everypony. I'm sure this won't cause a... distraction..." Spitfire said, glancing at Rainbow Dash when she said the last word. Dash gulped, and silently nodded towards the captain.

Spitfire gave a nod of approval, before flying out of the training grounds. Rapid turned to the recruits, and eyed them.

"Alright! Today's exercise will be simple teamwork skills. I'm going to split you into groups, and you're going to be completing a few courses. Sound good?" He asked, looking a few mares over, who in return grimaced.

The rest of the recruits nodded. Rapid looked back at them, and nodded. Suddenly, he spotted Rainbow Dash, and smirked. Dash raised an eyebrow, and simply dismissed it.

Slowly, Rapidfire started naming ponies. Dash was placed in a group with Burning Cloud, Hibiscus Wings, and Cloud Ember. She met up with them, snapped her goggles on, and took to the air, flashing Soarin a wink when nopony was looking. He grinned up at her, before returning to his stationary position.

"Alright! Go through course four, everypony!" Rapidfire yelled. Dash and her team nodded, and started to weave through the obstacles.

Once they completed the course, they came in for a smooth landing. Dash grinned at her teammates, and gave them all a wingslap.

"Nice job, everypony!" She told them. Her friends all smiled, and nodded, returning the gesture. Dash nodded, and glanced at everypony else, who was going into the mess hall for lunch.

"I'm gonna stay back here, and do a few laps, 'kay?" She told them. They all looked confused, but nodded.

"Yeah, sure, Rainbow Dash!" Burning Cloud told her, leading the other two inside the mess hall. Dash crouched down, and took into the air. Rapidfire shortly following.

"Hey, Rainbow Dash, right?" He asked her. Dash turned to him, and nodded.

"Yeah... What can I do for you?" She asked him, clearly confused, making a sharp turn right. Rapid had no trouble in keeping up.

"It's more of what I can do for you..." He said, flashing her a cheesy smirk. Dash's eyes widened. She glanced below her, and saw Soarin looking up at them curiously.

"Uh..." She said, trying to find the right words. Rapid lifted a hoof, and put it to her mouth.

"Shh... No words... Actions speak for themselves..." He said smoothly, leaning in with his eyes closed, puckering his lips up. Dash saw what he was about to do, and ducked down, avoiding the poorly planned kiss.

"Sorry, I'm taken." She said flatly, once his eyes were opened again. She glanced down below again, and saw Soarin with a fire red face. He looked like he wanted to kill somepony right then and there. Probably Rapidfire. He started to fly up to them angrily.

Rapidfire looked at the rainbow maned mare with a raised eyebrow. "Oh? Who's the lucky stallion? I'm sure I'm better than him!" He asked her, hoping to bribe her into breaking up with him. Dash's eyes narrowed.

"You'll never even come CLOSE to him! He's the most amazing stallion ever! Now get out of my face..." She said, pushing Rapid aside, and flying towards the mess hall. Rapidifre stared after her in shock. This was a first! Usually, whenever he hit on a mare, the mare was too overjoyed that a Wonderbolt ever even noticed her! But Dash was different.

Rapidfire may have been clumsy, but he wasn't dumb. He knew what a big fan of the Wonderbolts Dash really was... She should have jumped on him! Unless she was already dating a Wonderbolt...

But that was impossible! Wonderbolt's weren't even aloud to date! It made no sense...

Suddenly, out of nowhere, a hard punch was thrown at Rapid. Fortunately, he saw it coming, and smoothly ducked underneath it. He turned to the sender angrily.

"What gives, Soarin?" He asked in shock. Soarin glared at him, hard.

"What was that about?" He asked in a strangely calm tone of voice. Rapidfire raised an eyebrow.

"That Rainbow mare is hot, right?" He asked, thinking about Dash. Soarin's glare intensified, as he aimed another punch. Deciding he was being a little too obvious about his relationship with Rainbow, he went on a different path.

"Can't you think of ANYTHING besides mares?" He asked him. "You were supposed to be TRAINING them! Not ADMIRING them!" He said in disgust. Rapid rolled his eyes.

"Whatever. I think you're just jealous." He said in a taunting way. Soarin raised an eyebrow.

"How so?" He asked suspiciously. Rapidfire smirked.

"It's just that... You can't stand that Rainbow Dash has the hots for me, can you? The only reason she ducked my kiss, was because she saw you coming over. She wanted it to be private..." He lied. Soarin's eyes furrowed. Was that true?

Was that the reason she left, just as Soarin was coming over? What was going on?

"Just go away." He told the orange stallion. Rapidfire smirked, and flapped his wings harder, taking off, and heading to eat inside the mess hall. Soarin shook his head, and followed him, hoping to get some answers from Dash later.
