Chapter Fourteen: Answers

Soarin entered the mess hall, the same time Rainbow Dash got up to throw away her plate, which was previously filled with salad. She saw Soarin, and smiled at him, which he had no problem returning. He slinked his way towards her.

"What's up, Dashie?" He asked her nonchalantly. Dash smiled up at him.

"Oh, you know! The usual!" She said, throwing her plate out. Soarin nodded, before beckoning her over to the hallway. Dash looked around, and saw everypony was too busy eating to be paying any attention to her.

She nodded, and followed Soarin out into the hallway, not being seen by anypony, beside Spitfire, who didn't take it to heart. She merrily dismissed it, with a shrug of her shoulders.

Once Soarin and Dash were safely away from the view of others, Dash instantly pulled Soarin into a kiss.

"You have no idea how much I wanted to do that throughout practice today!" She exclaimed, as she pulled away, a little confused at why Soarin was resisting slightly. Soarin raised an eyebrow.

"Well, you're going to do it to Rapidfire after this, right? So I suggest you stop wasting your time with me, and just going to the stallion who you obviously care more about!" Soarin said harshly. Dash gave him a look, clearly confused on why he suddenly turned so sour.

"What?" She asked him. Soarin rolled his eyes, and turned away.

"Just forget I said anything." He said, spreading his wing out, getting ready to take off. Dash put her hoof on him, stopping him in his tracks.

"What?" He asked her. Dash gave him another look.

"What the hell did Rapidfire tell you?" She asked him. Soarin sighed, and looked down at the rainbow maned mare.

"He told me... That the only reason you ducked his kiss was because you saw me coming... And you wanted it to be private..." He told her softly. Dash gasped, and instantly backed away.

"When I get that jerk..." She mumbled underneath her breath. She turned to look back up at Soarin.

"Soar... Why would you ever think I would do that to you?" She asked him quietly. "Do you just not trust me enough?" She asked, her voice hitching up. Soarin saw what he had done, and instantly shook his head.

"No! Dashie, of course I don't!" He told her, putting his hoof on her shoulder. Rainbow jerked away, tears threatening to fall from her eyes. Soarin internally groaned at his stupidity.

Stupid, Soarin! Why the heck would you doubt her like that? He thought to himself. He gave her a soft smile.

"Dashie... Of course I trust you..." He told her, his voice barely above a whisper. Dash looked up at him with tear filled eyes, before spreading her hooves out, and flailing into Soarin. She silently cried into his chest, while he softly stroked her mane.

"Shh... It's okay..." He said, trying to comfort her. She groaned, as she wiped some of her tears away.

"Why am I taking this so seriously? It's not a big deal... Rapidfire was just being a stupid jerk..." She mumbled to herself. Soarin looked at her, and lifted her chin up with his hoof.

"Maybe there's more to this?" He asked her. Dash looked down with a glum expression. Soarin gave her a soft smile. Dash sighed.

"You're right... There's something I need to tell you... Why I am a little sensitive... Even for the stupidest of things..." She told her coltfriend. Soarin smiled, and nodded.

"Of course! Anything! Go ahead!" He encouraged. Dash took a deep breath, as she started to tell Soarin her little story.

"You see... When I was much younger, there was this colt. His name was Hoops. He had this dare, to ask the toughest girl at flight school out on a date. That was me, of course.

He did ask me, and I was extremely confused. Of course, I didn't know about the dare, so I went to talk to my parents about it, without giving him an answer.

My mom thought it was finally time to be taking an interest into colts, as she thought I might be a single mare forever, so she was all for it! My dad though... He had a different side of things. Of course, he's always been overprotective of me... But when he heard somepony asked me out! Wow... You should've seen him...

After much persuading, my mom finally made him agree on letting me date this guy. So, I went back a week later, and told Hoops the news. He was very nonchalant about the whole thing, and that confused me! But, nevertheless, he took me to a restaurant a few days later.

After that very awkward dinner, I really felt like he was the one! HEY! Don't judge! I was fifteen! Anyway... After the dinner, Hoops met me in the back alleyway of the restaurant, where he told me that it was all just a dare, and he really hated me to the core.

Then, he just left! Didn't say anything else... He just left. And I was heartbroken! I went back home in tears, where my mother comforted me, and my father... Don't even get me started. He was so angry at what Hoops did to me! Oh god... I had nightmares about what he did for a year after that!

That's when he started being so majorly overprotective of me... I mean, he was before! But this is just extreme! You don't even want to know what he did!

That's why I don't trust ponies easily... But, you Soarin... You're something else! You're probably the best thing that's ever happened to me! So when I heard about you almost mistrusting me... I couldn't take it! I just couldn't! I'm really sorry, Soarin! I shouldn't have been so sensitive about it... I was horrible!" Rainbow Dash said, finishing up her tale. Soarin was shocked. Had Dash really gone through all of that?

Well, one thing was for sure. He REALLY didn't want to meet Rainbow Blaze anytime soon... Did Dash have any older brothers? He heard that those could be overprotective as well!

"Wow, Dashie... I'm so sorry you had to got through all of that!" Soarin told his marefriend. Dash looked up at him with a smile.

"I really thought I had gotten over it... But turns out I hadn't! Ever since that day... Hoops has been one of the biggest bullies I have ever encountered! He calls me, 'Rainbow Crash', with his best friend Dumb-Bell... I hate those two colts... Absolutely hate them..." Dash told Soarin. Soarin nodded.

"I would too! Those two sound horrible!" He told her. Dash nodded.

"Oh! They are! They're possibly, THE. WORST. POSSIBLE. THING! Haha... Got that one from Rarity!" She said to Soarin, who wore a confused look.

Soarin sighed, and pulled Dash closer to him, as the two snuggled together in the middle of the deserted hallway.

He gently kissed her forehead.

"Don't worry, Dashie. I'm never letting you go."
