Hellsing Ultimate: Equestria
Chapter 8: ...Eating My Wings to Make Me Tame! (Part 1)
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe next morning, everypony got up at the crack of dawn to prepare for Braveheart and Seras’s report. It was a Monday. They all met in the living room. Seras and Braveheart stood in the center of the room and Sunset Shimmer and Blazing Fire sat down on the couch. Alushy stayed standing in the back of the room. Blazing was finishing up her breakfast as she sat down.
“Let’s make this quick,” Braveheart began. “It has been made clear to Hellsing that the Millennium Organization is planning an assault on Hellsing. They are using artificial vampire ponies as their armies, and it is unclear when or where the attack will come, from what I was able to discern.”
“Twilight Sparkle has informed me that the attack will be a head on assault by week's end,” Seras said. “The army will be fully armed and highly dangerous. She has also said that Iscariot and Millennium are working together. But with her dead, it is unclear whether or not Iscariot will fight.” Everyone’s eyes went wide at this, including Braveheart.
“What!?” he and Sunset said in unison.
“Score!” Alushy cried.
“We have until the end of the week to prepare for the attack,” Seras continued. “This will not be any ordinary attack, as all forces will be focused on us, and not each other. Everypony must help.” Seras looked towards Blazing Fire when she said that. Sunset looked down and held her close.
“No,” she refused. “She’s too young. She can’t shoot a gun without falling on her flank. She’s not ready. She can’t fly for very long either.”
“I’ll get her ready,” Alushy said. “I’ll teach her to use a gun, and get her up off the ground. We have no other choice. Everypony must fight for Hellsing. Besides, should all else fail, I have a failsafe. My restrictions level zero. It unleashes my true form, more powerful than anypony in this world. It can wipe entire legions away from existence.” Sunset Shimmer thought about this. She finally made up her mind.
“All right,” she reluctantly agreed. She turned to her daughter and looked her in the eyes. “Blazing, you listen very carefully to Alushy, and do exactly what she tells you. Understand?”
“Yes, mom,” Blazing sincerely nodded. Sunset nodded back, and Alushy opened up the hatch.
“Come along, Blazing Fire,” she said. “We have a lot of work to do.” Blazing walked over to the hatch and started to climb down. Sunset gave her daughter one last pleading look before the hatch closed. Sunset sighed and sat back down, wrapping her arms around herself. Braveheart put an arm around her shoulder.
“She’ll be all right,” he assured her. “I trust Alushy, and I know she won’t let any harm come to Blazing.”
“I’m not worried about Alushy,” Sunset said. “I’m worried about Blazing. I don’t want her to shoot herself.”
“She’ll be fine,” Braveheart reasoned. “I’ve showed her my revolver once or twice, and showed her where each part is, including which end the bullet comes out of. Don’t worry.” Sunset nodded. Braveheart realized something.
“Can you shoot?” he asked.
“I can, but I choose not to,” Sunset said. “I prefer a blade or my magic.”
“I still have a lot of weapons in the armory. We can get you something there. I could probably enchant them with the same blessed magic from the bullets as well.”
“That should work.”
“Let’s do that now before Alushy and Blazing start shooting things.” Sunset and Braveheart stepped over to the armory and climbed inside. Alushy was showing Blazing Fire his two signature guns.
“Don’t mind us,” Braveheart said. “We’re just finding Sunset some weapons for the assault.”
“I did some rearranging, just so you know,” Alushy informed. “I put weapons on the far wall behind my throne. Everything else is on either the left or right wall. All behind the throne.”
“Good to know,” Braveheart nodded. He and Sunset walked back to where Alushy directed.
“That’s a lot of weapons,” Sunset breathed. “There are too many choices.”
“I actually found all these,” Braveheart explained. “They were just here, in the armory, ready for use.”
“Do you have any recommendations?”
“Something with a bit of range, so the vampires don’t get too close, such as a light, yet long broadsword. If you’re a bit more partial to reusable shots than bullets, the crossbow is a good choice. Or a longbow if you prefer. Or, if you want to get close and personal, not that I would, the hidden blade is the ideal option. The big thing you want to ask yourself is, ‘Will the weapon remove the head or pierce through the heart?’ That’s the most important factor.” Sunset nodded and looked at the weapon rack.
Braveheart walked over to the assassin robes and picked one out. It was a blood red with black highlights as well as a black belt and bags. He gave it to Sunset for her to put on later. She took some more time to look through the weapons before choosing a hidden blade, a sword, throwing knives, a dagger, and a crossbow. Braveheart stepped in front of her, turned his back, and spread his wings to give her some privacy as she slipped on the robes. Once she had finished, Braveheart helped her put the weapons in their proper places and get the hidden blade on. Sunset figured out the mechanism for the blade on her own. She didn’t exactly like the hood, so Braveheart cut it off and made it look natural. Once all that had been done, Sunset left the armory with Braveheart and walked upstairs. She took a look at herself in the mirror, admiring the look of the robes.
“It’s certainly an acquired look,” she stated.
“I picked out the blood red color to blend in with blood stains on the robes, should they get any,” Braveheart said.
“Good enough for me,” Sunset agreed. Braveheart had to get his own arsenal together. He walked into the kitchen and walked in front of his refrigerator. He pressed a hidden switch underneath the counter that only he knew about. The fridge slid down, revealing a hidden room. Braveheart stepped inside and closed the door behind him. He felt around for the light switch and turned it on.
The room lit up with a spark, and the light came on. The blue-hued light illuminated a long wall, racked top to bottom, left to right with guns. Machine guns, sniper rifles, rocket launchers, pistols, everything. There were only three empty spaces. They were for Braveheart’s revolver, the Casull, and the Jackal. Ammunition crates were on the floor, lined up against the wall below the guns, ranging from rockets to .50 caliber blessed bullets, and various attachments for the guns. Braveheart had secretly collected all these guns during the peaceful years of Hellsing’s existence in his possession. He enchanted all the ammo himself, racked each gun from least to most powerful, and kept them all in order. Now, all that work has led up to this moment.
Braveheart pulled out his revolver and opened up the .357 bullet ammo crate. He pulled out a small box of bullets and reloaded his gun. He spun the revolver around his finger and smoothly slid it into his holster. Making sure to keep his own safety first, he took a suit of body armor and slid it on. Wanting nothing to get through, he slid on more armor, until he had a full Juggernaut suit on. Attached was a long chain of .50 cal. bullets. Braveheart took a heavy M134 minigun off the rack. He took a large bag from an ammo crate and set it down. He pulled out another .50 cal. bullet chain and slid it into the minigun. Braveheart decided that this was enough, so he took it all off and set it aside for the attack. He checked a small one way wall opening for anypony in the kitchen. He saw nopony, so he opened up the hidden door and stepped out, closing it behind him.
As he walked back into the living room, Sunset was sitting on the couch with her robes on. She was tossing a throwing knife into the air and catching it. She looked up to see her husband.
“You prepared?” Braveheart asked.
“Yeah,” Sunset nodded.
“Good,” Braveheart said. Nopony at Hellsing knew how many foes they would face, or how long it would take. But they did know one thing. They would all fight down to the end.
~~~
Four days later, everypony was ready for battle. Blazing Fire had mastered a pistol in record time, and she was up and off the ground for almost indefinite periods. Sunset was geared up in her robes, weapons at the ready. Alushy had a shit-eating grin on her face. Seras’s demonic arm was jumpy and spastic. Her Harkonnen was loaded and slung over her shoulder. Braveheart was wearing his armor and had his minigun in his magical grasp. His helmet was off and he held his revolver in his mechanical hand. They were all ready to fight. They all sat down in the living room for one last briefing. Braveheart stood up in the center of the room.
“The time has come,” he said. “The combined forces of the Iscariot and Millennium Organizations will come armed literally to the teeth. We must not back down.” He magically projected a large scale map across the coffee table. “Alushy will be the very last line of defense between those vampires and Hellsing,” he said, pointing to a position on the map. Blazing will be before her, Seras before her, Sunset before her, and myself at the front. Should anypony become overwhelmed, fall back to the next line of defense, but keep your sight on the attackers. Keep firing. With this technique, I hope to create a stronger defense each time somepony is forced to fall back.”
“What about the number of attackers?” Sunset Shimmer asked. “We have no idea how many vampires there will be, or what their attack pattern is.”
“She’s right,” Seras agreed.
“Twilight never told you?” Braveheart asked Seras. Seras shook her head with regret. Braveheart sighed.
“This makes things a lot harder.”
“We need somepony to infiltrate the enemy ranks and find that out for themselves,” Blazing Fire said. “Surly the leader will be issuing orders to the vampires.”
“Blazing is right,” Alushy said. “If somepony were to find out how many vampires we’re up against, and how they’ll attack, that could give us an advantage. We know they’ll attack head on, but we don’t know if the attacks will come in waves or one big strike.”
“Does anypony object to this plan of action?” Braveheart asked. Nopony spoke up. “Very well. We need somepony to carry out this infiltration.”
“I’ll do it,” Blazing volunteered. Sunset shook her head.
“Absolutely not,” she said.
“Why not?” Blazing asked.
“It’s too dangerous.”
“More dangerous than what we are about to do?”
“Much! You’re sneaking behind enemy lines. What would happen if they were to see you?”
“Sunset, calm down,” Braveheart said, putting a hand to her shoulder. “We don’t have another choice. Blazing is the most unlikely suspect anypony would believe to be an assailant. Besides, her ability of flight would prove useful.”
“I can also fly silently,” Blazing added. “Alushy showed me how, and I’m sure you have an invisibility spell, right Dad?”
“I do,” Braveheart confirmed.
“And if I were to get spotted, I would shoot and make a run for it,” Blazing said. “I’m a fast flyer, and I’m good at darting around corners.” Braveheart looked into Sunset’s eyes, mentally pleading for her to consider this. Tears watered up in Sunset’s eyes, and Braveheart wiped them away.
“She’ll be all right,” he whispered. “I promise.” Sunset closed her eyes and nodded. She turned to Blazing Fire.
“All right,” she agreed, choked. “Go ahead.”
“I promise I’ll come back in one piece,” Blazing assured. Braveheart cast an invisibility spell on Blazing, and she disappeared from sight. After a second, the door opened, closed, and Blazing Fire was off. Braveheart and Sunset Shimmer prayed for their daughter’s safe return.
~~~
Blazing Fire flew through the afternoon air, holding her pistols in each hand. She was equipped with two more clips each, a protective vest, one hand grenade, two poison grenades, a gas mask, and wing armor. She kept her flight quiet, despite all the equipment she was carrying. As she flew over the remains of Canterlot Castle, she saw a vast amount of ponies, lined up in rows in front of the castle. Blazing landed on a nearby roof and surveyed the scene. Through a quick estimation, she found over 10,000 vampires armed for battle. She looked toward the castle ruins, and saw the general giving a speech. She flew close enough to hear what he was saying.
“…will see the end of Hellsing!” the general cried. “This day marks the end of Braveheart, and the end of Alushy! Who will join me in this fight?!” The vampires raised their arms to the sky and cheered. Blazing took a close look at the general, and she couldn’t quite make out who she saw. A brightly colored Pegasus with a mechanical left wing stood at the front of the vampire army, facing them. He wore a black military coat, black combat boots, and a black helmet. The emblem on the helmet and the coat was a red band with a white circle on top of it. On top of the white circle was a black pair of wings. Blazing snapped a quick photo of the army and the general. She also snapped a picture of a hanging banner of the emblem.
“Then we will fight!” the general cried. “Fight and destroy the Hellsing Organization!” This time, the general and all the vampires removed their helmets. The general’s hair fell free, giving Blazing fire a good look at her. Blazing’s eyes went wide as she quickly snapped a picture. She couldn’t believe who she just saw. The general moved on to the battle plan.
“You will march on the Hellsing Organization Headquarters in legions of a thousand each,” she said. “You will have equal amounts of powerful and less powerful individuals in each legion. In this formation, the total 10 waves will tire out Hellsing, giving us the opening to end the battle quickly.” Blazing took note of the battle plan. As she planted her feet to take off, she slipped. Losing her footing on the roof, she fell, and was left hanging on the edge. A few shingles fell from her sides, landing on a couple of heads.
“Oh, crud,” she whispered. The general looked up to where the shingles had fallen, and saw Blazing Fire, her invisibility spell run dry.
“Spy!” she cried. “Kill her!” Blazing took flight from the roof, disappearing from view. A few vampire ponies fired on the spot where Blazing was.
“Cease fire!” the general cried. Blazing had stationed herself on a nearby roof. She took off and squeezed off two shots from her pistols, killing two vampires. She could hear gunshots and the general yelling in anger as she flew back to home.
~~~
Braveheart, Alushy, Seras, and Sunset were anxiously waiting for Blazing Fire to return. Sunset was more concerned over her daughter’s safety than anything. Braveheart was trying to calm her down, but wasn’t getting anywhere. The knob of the door turned, and the door slid open. Everypony whipped around as Blazing Fire walked inside.
“I’m back,” she said. Sunset ran up to her and pulled her up in a tight hug.
“Thank Celestia you’re OK,” she whispered. Blazing patted her mother on the back. Sunset put her down, and she walked up to the coffee table.
“Glad to see you back, kid,” Alushy said. “What’d you find out?”
“The army has a total of 10,000 vampires,” Blazing started. She was immediately cut off by Braveheart and Seras.
“WHAT!?” they cried in unison.
“Oh, this is going to be too much fun,” Alushy grinned. “I better not miss a damn thing.” Blazing continued.
“They’ll come in ten waves of 1000. The intent is to tire us out, then overwhelm us in sheer numbers.” Blazing pulled out her photos she had taken and gave them to Braveheart. Alushy leaned in close to see.
“That’s a lot of vampires,” Braveheart winced, looking at the picture of the army.
“I’ll be feasting for weeks,” Alushy said, salivating. Braveheart set down the picture, revealing the next one.
“That must be the general,” he said. “You can tell from the prominent emblem on the military coat.” He moved on to the next picture. It was the photo of the emblem banner.
“That looks an awful lot like the Nazi flag,” Alushy noted. “Only the Swastika is missing. Everything else is the same. No surprise from Millennium.”
“Look at the final picture,” Blazing urged. “It might shock you.” Braveheart set down the current photo, and his and Alushy’s eyes went wide. The photo was of a cyan Pegasus with a rainbow mane.
“Rainbow Dash?!” Braveheart and Alushy cried in unison.
“Wait, what?!” Sunset gasped.
“Rainbow Dash is the general of Millennium?!” Braveheart wondered aloud, stunned. He couldn’t believe this. He thought he knew Rainbow Dash. She was his adoptive mother and the only one he truly trusted other than Sunset. She took care of him from a young age after Luna found him and taught him to fly. To take care of himself. Braveheart’s head was spinning, and he couldn’t think straight.
“You all right?” Sunset asked. Braveheart was shaking and close to tears.
“No,” he whispered. “I’m not. Not at all.” Despite the suit's reluctance to do so, Braveheart sat down in his armor. His minigun fell with a hard clang on the floor. Sunset got a determined look on her face.
“Change of plans,” she ordered. “Braveheart is clearly out of commission for this fight. I will be at the front, Seras behind me, Blazing Fire behind Seras, and Alushy behind Blazing. Alushy will remain the last line of defense.”
“The vampires will be here soon,” Blazing informed.
“Then let’s move out!” Sunset cried. Everypony grabbed their gear and left the building. Sunset put a hand on Braveheart’s shoulder.
“I’m so sorry,” she said. Braveheart didn’t look up. Sunset hung her head before standing up and walking out the door, closing it behind her.
Outside, the night sky was lit with the red light of the blood moon. Alushy hadn’t felt this good in a long time. The thrill of an upcoming war, the blood moon’s rays beaming down onto the ground and in the air, and the sound of an army marching nearer and nearer. She cocked back the slides of the Casull and the Jackal, loading a blessed bullet into each one.
Blazing Fire was equipped with her equipment from her flight. She checked the ammo in her pistols to make sure they were full. The guns were fully loaded with blessed rounds. She chambered a bullet into each gun, and held them at the ready. Her wings were spread wide, ready for a fight.
Seras Victoria’s eyes had turned a glowing red. Her late lover, Pip Bernadotte, a French mercenary, encouraged her in her head. He had died at the hands of another vampire long ago, and she drank his blood, his soul within her forever. Seras’s Harkonnen was loaded, and she had a chain of massive rounds at the ready, attached to her gun for rapid fire barrages.
Sunset stepped into position. Her assassin robes and hair flowed gracefully in the night wind. She dragged her finger across the handles of her sheathed throwing knives, drawing out the last one in a swift movement. She inspected the design on the pointed tip before sheathing it again. She pulled out her crossbow and drew her sword, using her magic to load an arrow into the crossbow. She stood at a battle stance, ready for the invasion.
~~~
Rainbow Dash hovered above the first wave of vampires, MP40 assault rifle in hand, watching her troops march into battle. Her wings were spread, one of them mechanical. She had lost it in a battle with the Griffons over at Griffonstone. She had it since replaced with a lightweight metal wing, a more high tech version than Braveheart’s. Oh yes, Braveheart. That traitor and murderer. This thought ran through Rainbow’s head ever since she heard about Twilight’s death. Braveheart had killed her without mercy, and without regret. That’s what she heard. All of the Iscariot Organization had abandoned Millennium after hearing of their leader’s death, and since disappeared into Equestria. But Rainbow Dash was not backing down. She would have revenge for Twilight’s murder, bringing Braveheart down with his pathetic organization.
Both forces were ready for battle, neither one deciding to back down against the other. The war was on, Hellsing VS Millennium for a second time, and this one looked to be just as bloody, if not more so, than the first.
