The story begins this youprobablywon'tcareaboutthisbutfuckyouI'mdoingitanyway chapter with a seemingly average, beautiful day of Ponyville were the sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and everything is just peaceful. Mr. Cakes, Mrs. Cakes, and Pinkie Pie are baking, Fluttershy is taking care of the animals, and Twilight is tending to her studies.
Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle rush out through the door to their respective homes, leaving their sisters, Applejack and Rarity, surprised and confused. They all eventually meet each other--Scootaloo included--racing to their school as if something big was about to go down... Is there...?
On their way to the learning center, Rainbow Dash--flying through the sky in her usual, bombastic fashion--spots the trio and glides down until she was right above them. She was about to say something, but then the CMC suddenly ran at lightning speed; confusing even a very swift pony like Dash.
When they finally arrived at the school they barged through the entrance door, making a slamming noise that caused the whole class turn their attention to the Cutie Mark Crusaders.
"For goodness sake girls, where's the fire?!" says the kids' teacher, Cheerilee.
"Apple Bloom? Sweetie Belle? Scootaloo? What ever is the matter?" questions Pipsqueak.
They each try to catch their breath, to the point where they start coughing from excessive heaving. Snips and Snails, being the fledgling unicorns they are, each manage to conjure a glass of water (and to them, it wasn't no easy feat) then carry them with magic and hurriedly pour them through each of the girl's throats, allowing them to breath easier. Of course, they each say their thank yous.
Apple Bloom is the first to explain their situation:
"Ms. Cheerilee!! Ms. Cheerilee!! Teh Big Bad Diamond Dog is comin' teh Ponyville!!"
"We should know!" Sweetie Belle takes her turn to speak. "While strolling through the library in Canterlot as part of our field trip, we stumbled across this section about Diamond Dogs. When we read through the several layered articles about them, we got curious and decided to rent this book..." As she says that, she pulls out a book from her pouch with magic. "...and read though these pages about their hunting patterns."
Scootaloo concludes with... "And we came to a unified conclusion that one or more Diamond Dogs are going to be here in Ponyville!!"
After a moment of deadpan silence, all of the classmates begin laughing, practically out of their skulls. This kept on until...
"Class! Behave yourselves!" demanded Cheerilee.
They gradually halt their laughter. But just barely though.
"*Snickers* S-sorry, Ms. Cheerilee. B-but-- *Chuckles* That was the most ridiculous thing I ever heard!" admitted Pipsqueak.
"Yeah! I mean 'The Big Bad Diamond Dog'?! Come! On! That's stupid!" Snips points out.
"Heheh! Right! 'The Big Bad Diamond Dog' sounds made up. The CMC made up The Big Bad Diamond Dog, heheheh!" commented Snails.
All the CMC could do is pout in anger and embarrassment.
When recess came some of the kids began making fun of the trio and calling them names, but all they did was shrug it off as ignorance of the current, much more important situation. They spent some of their time hiding under the various play sets from this apparent Big Bad Diamond Dog. Eventually Pipsqueak approaches the three hiding under a slide.
"Really? Even if this scary monster existed, I do believe hiding under this wouldn't be very helpful..." he commented.
"Good point," the girls all say at the same time before getting up from the slide.
"Look, if you're so afraid of this monstrous canine, then why not explain to us what this thing actually is," elaborated the tiny pony.
"Very well then," accepted Apple Bloom. "LISTEN UP Y'ALL!! WE'RE NOW GOING TO TELL YOUS ABOUT TEH BIG BAD DIAMOND DAWG!!"
The rest of the classmates surround the Cutie Mark Crusaders so that they may listen to what they had to say.
Cutie Mark Crusaders' POV
(Apple Bloom)
I decided to be the one to start off the explanation: "Long ago, there were a group of ordinary, everyday dogs that lived pretty normal lives with their earth pony herd master, Whimsy Shepherd. However one day Queen Chrysalis, being the pure evil Changeling she is, decided that it would be pretty funny to turn the majority of them into monstrous versions of themselves and let them scare the whole population out of town!"
(Sweetie Belle)
I went next: "However one pony remained, Whimsy Shepherd. Using all of his herding skill, he commanded the wild dogs to halt their rampage. And by a stroke of miracle, they did! After they stopped, the shepherd decided it be best for the now hulking dogs to use their newly found strength to hunt for diamonds--which is where the name Diamond Dogs originated from--and bandits. Meanwhile the normal canines repopulated in order to make up for the lack of numbers. It all worked out until..."
(Scootaloo)
That was probably my cue to talk about the rest of the story now: "The Diamond Dogs rebelled against their master and took all of his clothes along with his unicorn foal apprentice's, Gale Herder's, hidden scrolls of elemental magic and fled the town. Of course since the Diamond Dogs left, the townsfolk felt safe enough to return. Years later, Whimsy Shepherd died and left his apprentice in charge as the shepherd. However Gale developed sort of a prankster personality and began boasting, or crying, loudly about Diamond Dogs coming to raid his farm. Eventually the townsfolk stopped trusting him...which is very bad since the next night the Diamond Dogs actually did come! As you could guess, the people didn't believe the shepherd then. And when you add up all the pieces together and...well just say some things are better left unsaid. After said events the townspeople decided to name this threat, The Big Bad Diamond Dog."
(CMC)
"And that's the legend," the trio concluded.
Narrator's POV
All the classmates could do was stare in aw at to what they've just heard, though, Snips and Snails were still skeptical. Cheerilee, who came outside to check on the children, overheard the legend and stared in shock as well.
"W-well then..." Pipsqueak spoke up. "Well just try to catch this Big Bad Diamond Dog in the act at least! Lets come up with a plan."
"Okay!" the girls cooperated excitedly.
They all try to come up with a scheme to try and see this Big Bad Diamond Dog in action without getting anyone in danger, even if it means risking their lives to traverse through...the Everfree Forest!
