Chapter 14: The Princess, The Teacher, and The Guard

"Wake up Silver!" you heard Luna shout as she shook you.

"Five more minutes..."

"WAKE UP NOW!"

"I'm up, I'm up!" you shouted as you got up, "Wait, where am I?"

"The dungeon" Shining Armor said from somewhere behind you.

"Why am I in a dungeon with you and Luna?" you asked, not being able to remember what had happened the night before.

"Well, it would appear some of the night guards are staging a coup d'état" Luna said, sounding very tired.

"A what?" you asked, not knowing what she meant.

"A coup d'état," Shining said as he made his way out of the shadows, "They're trying to overthrow the princesses"

"So why am I here, I had no idea this was going on"

"You are here because you are in a relationship with me" Luna said, now sounding depressed.

"Great, I finally get a marefriend, and it gets me tossed in a dungeon" you said sarcastically.

"Don't worry, I've been thinking of a way to get us out of here" Shining said, making a nod towards the corner her was in before.

"Can't we just use our magic..." you started, then it occurred to you that things were never that easy, "They put an anti-magic spell on us didn't they"

"Yeah, they did, we tried before you woke up," Shining said turning to Luna, "All we figured out is that Luna can use a small bit of magic, but it's only really good for giving us light"

"Really?"

"Sadly, yes, not even my power can get through their spell" Luna said, now standing next to you.

"Great..." you mumbled as you fell to the ground. You quickly thought about how you got into this whole thing. Those three fillies from Ponyville, Scootaloo, Applebloom, and Sweetie Belle, the three fillies had told you to watch out for. If it wasn't for you being so nice to Scootaloo you would never have let her stay with you, Diamond Tiara might not have caused her to run away, which wouldn't have brought you to Luna, and she wouldn't have even known you existed. "Looks like Cheerilee was right, those three are trouble"

"What?" Luna asked.

"Oh nothing, just thinking about what got me into this mess" you said truthfully.

"Actually, I've been meaning to ask you about that" Shining said from the corner.

"Well, I was told that Cheerilee was going to be out of town for a while due to family matters, so I had to go and teach in her place. On my way to the first day I ran into Scootaloo, well, actually she ran into me, and then I ended up learning that she was an orphan, so I took her in. I treated her like a father for a week, and then Diamond Tiara wrote a note that caused me to get the princesses involved, then Tiara caused Scootaloo to run away, and I ended up getting close to the princesses. I think you know the rest"

"So I'm guessing the three you had said were trouble were the Cutie Mark Crusaders?" Shining said as he once again left the shadows.

"Yeah, in her notes Cheerilee had said that they always caused trouble, and look where I am now" you said, waving your foreleg in front of you.

"Seems like Cheerilee really knows her students" Luna said.

"I wonder if they teach you how to understand ponies in teacher school?" Shining said with a chuckle as he went back to his corner. Suddenly you remembered something that you had done during your time in university. Your parents never wanted you to be out all night, so they would stay up, making sure you came back by ten. One night you stayed out late while you tried to get yourself a marefriend, and when you got back they put you under a spell that was similar to the one you were under right now. For the next week you tried everything you could to break their spell without them knowing, and eventually you got it, allowing you to roam free. You knew your parents were nowhere near as strong as the night guards at magic, but it couldn't hurt to try.

"Luna, can you use your magic to momentarily break the anti-magic spell on me?" you asked.

"Possibly, but why?"

"I have a plan to get us out of here"

"Oh, well, I guess it wouldn't hurt to try then" Luna said as her horn started to glow. Suddenly there was a flash of light, and you quickly attempted to pick something up with your magic. When you saw a chair from across the room fly into the air you knew the spell was off, and so you quickly figured out how much time you had before it kicked back in.

"Five minutes, perfect, that's all I need" you said as you crouched down.

"What are you trying to do?" Shining asked.

"I'm going to break the spell they put on us"

"They're going to know it was broken"

"No they won't" you replied with a grin. You quickly began to think back to the night you were trapped in your room, and within moments you remembered everything you had done that night. To everypony's surprise your horn began to glow, brighter than it had ever before, and you could feel yourself being pushed into the ground.

"Here. Goes. Nothing!" you grunted, the stress of the spell making it hard to breath.

SNAP!

You opened your eyes, finding yourself on the floor of the dungeon with Luna crying over you.

"Did it work?" you asked groggily. Luna suddenly snapped her head to look at you, tears flowing down her cheeks.

"Oh thank Celestia you're alive!" Luna said as she pulled you into a hug.

"What happened?" you asked, not knowing what was causing her to act this way.

"Well, thanks to you the coup was prevented"

"What?" you said as you turned around. Celestia had been standing over you as well, with Shining Armor and Cadance at her side.

"Well, after you broke the spell Shining Armor quickly teleported to Cadance, and they brought the night guards' plans to my attention" Celestia said as she helped you and Luna up off the ground.

"Within minutes she had every night guard detained, none of them were even allowed a chance to escape" Shining said.

"I have to ask," Celestia said while wiping the tears off Luna's face, "but where did you learn a spell like that?"

"I made it myself when I was in university"

"Well, I must congratulate you on that achievement, thanks to you a revolution was prevented" Celestia said as he made her way out of the cell.

"I was also able to figure out how you feel about Luna" Cadance said with a grin.

"Really?" you asked, surprised that she actually was able to figure it out.

"Want to know how you really feel about her?"

"No, I already know myself," you said as you moved to Luna's side, "and I think I should be the one to tell her"

"As you wish"

"So, as the hero, can I have one wish?" you asked while facing Luna.

"Of course, what is it?"

"Can I go back to my normal life now?"
