Chapter 5: Dear Celestia...

"So you can't help me?"

"Sorry man, but being the captain of the royal guard kinda takes it out of you, let alone dating a princess" Shining Armor responded.

"Well great, now I have to go to your sister for this" you say depressingly.

"Why? Can't you ask Spitfire or something?"

"Her and everypony else said no as well," you said while showing him the list, "It seems everypony is busy but me these days"

"Yeah, isn't that the truth, well good luck, I gotta go back to my position"

"Have fun, and I'll be in Canterlot soon, want to grab a drink when I'm there?"

"You know it, talk later"

With those final goodbyes you ended the magic call with Shining Armor. You remembered why this spell was even created in the first place. At some point during the later years of school Shining was told he could have to stay home because his marks were dropping a bit, so you and him worked on a way to talk to each other at anytime. In the end this spell was created, and it only worked between the two of you for some reason. Well, now was not the time to be reminiscing about the past, now you had to go find Twilight at the library and try to convince her to send a letter to Celestia for you.

"This is going to be a pain in my ass, I just know it" you said out loud, not talking to anyone but yourself.

"What is?" Scootaloo asked, obviously she had made her way into the room after you finished talking to Shining.

"Well, now I have to go talk with Twilight about this letter to Celestia, since everyone else is busy doing one thing or another," you answer while turning to face her, "and Twilight likes to make things harder than they need to be"

"What do you mean?"

"Well, one time me and her brother wanted to get a book out of the royal library, but we didn't have access to the section the book was in, so we asked her to get it for us. She made us do all sorts of weird things to get it, like sneaking into the library while wearing skin tight suits, and afterwards we found out that she could have just asked for it and she would have gotten it. Instead me and Shining were both arrested for theft and if Twilight hadn't felt so bad about it, I'm sure Celestia wouldn't have pardoned us and we'd still be in jail"

"Wow..." Scootaloo said in amazement.

"Well, off to bed for both of us, it's late and we have a big day tomorrow!"

"Okay!" Scootaloo quickly ran up to you and gave you a quick hug, "See you in the morning!"

"Well, that was new..." you said to yourself as she ran out of your study.

It was just a bit before dawn when you woke up the next morning, seeing as today was an important day you had to be ready, and you were planning to spend the morning preparing your speech. After about an hour of coming up with ways to explain it to Twilight you heard a noise from Scootaloo's room. After another minute of waiting you saw a well rested Scootaloo make her way down the stairs.

"Slept well I see" you said as she yawned.

"You know it!" she replied as she made her way to the couch, "What's for breakfast?"

"Do you want something special, or can I just make eggs like usual?"

"Eggs are fine"

Without saying anything else you made your way to the kitchen so you could go cook up the eggs for Scootaloo. As you pulled out the eggs you noticed that there were only two left, which meant two things. One, you needed to get more, and Two, there was only enough for one pony. You quickly decided that you would just pick up an apple from Applejack's stall on your way to the library and made Scootaloo's eggs.

"Breakfast is served" you said as you levitated the eggs in front of Scootaloo.

"Thanks!" she said as she was about to dig in, "Where's yours?"

"Didn't have enough eggs, so I'll just grab an apple from the market on the way to Twilight's"

"Oh, okay..."

You noticed her energy was gone after you told her that you gave her the last of your eggs, but after a few moments she was right back to her usual self. After she finished her eggs you put the plate in the sink and the two of you headed out into a rather busy Ponyville.

"This is weird, usually it's much quieter on the weekend" you said as you neared the noise coming from the market. Then you realized why. Right next to you on a wall you saw a poster for a party, but it wasn't just a normal party. It was a party for Princess Luna, apparently it was her birthday, and she had chosen Ponyville to be where she was going to celebrate it.

"Oh Celestia, why did it have to be today of all days?" you said while bringing a hoof to your face.

"Well, we didn't really have a choice in the matter" you heard somepony say from behind you. When you finally placed the voice you jumped so high that you could have hit a low flying Pegasus...

Princess Celestia herself had been standing behind you when you complained about her sister's birthday. All you could think about was how horrible your punishment would be for it, but when you saw Princess Luna standing behind her laughing, you figured you were okay.

"Princesses, what brings you to this part of town, so far from the festivities?" you asked as you lowered yourself.

"Well, we heard from Shining Armor here that you had something you needed to talk to me about, and since I was going to be in town I thought we could talk in person" Celestia said in her usual regal voice.

"Well, um, that would be an honor your majesty, but shouldn't the two of you be celebrating today?"

"Of course, but we have time to talk, seeing as we haven't arrived at the party yet" Luna said as she made her way towards your house.

"How do you know I live there?" you asked, completely confused.

"We saw you leave, so we followed you for a while to see where you were going" Celestia answered.

"Oh, well, uh, welcome to my home, I guess..."

"Why thank you"

After finding seats for everypony you began to tell the princesses about what had happened, and judging from their reactions, they were disgusted. Then you showed them the letter...

"HOW COULD ONE OF OUR SUBJECTS BE SO EVIL?!" Luna screamed after she finished reading.

"Luna please, do not use that voice indoors," Celestia said after she finished reading, "but I agree, how could somepony be so horrible to another?"

"Well, I think I have an idea why, and it would explain why I wanted to ask you about this" you said while putting the letter away again.

"What is it?" Celestia asked, looking genuinely interested.

"Well, the filly that wrote that is the daughter of Filthy Rich, one of the most egotistical ponies in town, and he believes that him nor his daughter, have done anything wrong"

"Now that is absurd, how does he not see how horrible this is?" Luna asked.

"It's his status that's blinding him. He's the richest pony in town, and even though I can act a bit rough to him, he still won't listen to me" you explained, "But I'm sure he'll listen to you. Heck, I think he'll only listen to you!"

"Well, then, looks like I'll be talking to him soon," Celestia said as she stood up, "Thank you for bringing this to my attention, I hope you and your sister have a wonderful day"

"My sister?" you asked, confused yet again.

"Was I mistaken, I'm sorry. I had thought the orange filly that's with you was your sister" Celestia replied in a somewhat embarrassed tone.

You and Scootaloo looked at each other for a second and then started laughing. "There's no way we could be related!" you both said as you rolled around on the floor. By the time you had managed to calm down the princesses had left and around ten minutes had gone by.

"I hope everything goes well at the party, and with this thing" Scootaloo said as she stood up.

"Yeah, me too..."

"So, do you think that was better than just sending her a letter?"

"You know what? I think it was better than just sending a letter!" you said as you clapped your hoof together with Scootaloo's.

"Well, I'm off to the party, are you coming?" Scootaloo asked as she made her way to the door.

"No I'm good, I think I'm going to go lay down"

"Okay, see you later!"

After she left you made your way back to bed, since you were still tired thanks to waking up super early that morning. It didn't take long for you to get comfortable, and you guessed that you would end up sleeping through the entire party. Too bad, some interesting things were probably going to happen there anyways...
