The Grand Galloping Gala was the most greatest event of the year, a time to gossip and eat some of the most delicious foods ever found. And the once in a lifetime deal to meet the princess. The only problem were getting the tickets, the golden tickets that would allow you a big chance that's too good to pass up. Who ever had the ticket would instantly be popular. More than you would expect.
"Dude, you were crazy last night!" Thunderlane and his best friend Star hunter were at the coffee shop Pony bucks, refueling themselves from Thunderlane's birthday last night.
"I wasn't THAT drunk!" said Thunderlane.
"You kissed nine mares, three stallions, and the inside of a toilet saying-and I quote- was your baby !"
"Oh...wait... did Cloudchaser come?!" Thunderlane had feelings for her for a while, but he didn't know if she liked him back.
"No, not really."
"Why didn't you ask her to the party!" said Thunderlane.
"Because I was too busy laughing at you!".Thunderlane still wished that Cloudchaser was there, her crazy mane and blue hair made go day-dreaming.
"Hello! EARTH TO STALLION!"
Thunderlane snapped back to reality. Still thinking about her.
"Dude, why can't you ask her on a da-"
"No!"
He shoved his head in his hooves and looked down. It seemed too embarrassing to ask, plus she's bisexual, a lot of pretty Mares and Stallions in cloudsdale. He was at least hoping he could catch her drunk...
"Well I gotta go, Rumbles waiting for me."
He said goodbye to his friend, payed his tab, and flew out of the coffee shop. It was a good day at least, not too much clouds and just the right amount of heat. As he flew through the great city of cloudsdale, something caught his eye, laying on a single cloud. As he went towards it, it uncovered a golden ticket. It said...
THE GRAND GALLOPING GALA
IN CANTERLOT
ADMIT ONE.
He couldn't bielieve his eyes. There was a speech from the princess yesterday that the tickets were all sold out. But this time, Thunderlane just got a stroke of luck. He picked up the ticket with His mouth and raced to his home.
Thunderlane shoved the ticket in his drawer next to his bed, he knew any pony would want it, the gala was the most epic time of year! That ticket would get him plenty of opportunities. Rumble, the small Pegasus filly, came into the room.
"Big bro? Whats that?"
He had caught Thunderlane shoving the ticket.
"Oh it's nothing much, just a ticket to the gala."
"The Grand Galloping Gala! can i go?!"
"Sorry Rumble, there's only one, and your too young any ways! Might get Blossomforth to babysit you."
Rumble sighed, too depressed, he left. Thunderlane had more good plans for the gala anyways, he would give the ticket to Cloudchaser. Giving her the opportunity that only lasted once a year would certainly make her fall in love with him. Seemed like a good plan. He looked out his window. Luna lifted up the moon over the horizon and Thunderlane felt blaze of comfort over him. He jumped on his fluffy cloud bed and fell asleep, like at the party last night.
*Time to ask her* Thunderlane thought. He was about to enter cloud park, a beautiful fun paradise for all of the Pegasus. Cloudchaser was with her friends gossiping about the day. He was about to ask her on the date, in his saddle bag was the ticket to the gala, a huge sacrifice that was worth to give her. He was just a few yards away when he tripped on a log he didn't see in front of him. As he tripped, the ticket that would win Cloudchaser's heart flew out of his bag and into another mare's hooves, casually Derpy's. She picked up the the paper and looked at it for one close second.
"A TICKET TO THE GALA?!" she yelled. and instantly, all of Cloudsdale's Pegasus payed attention to the gray mare. Then a rumble erupted and it seemed all of the population of equestria was running toward them. Out of fright, Derpy dropped the ticket and flew away. Thunderlane picked it up with his mouth and just stood there. The Pegasi were surrounding him asking questions like...
"Is that really the ticket?!'
"Can i have it?!"
"Didn't i tell you you look cool?!"
They were all looking at him with distinct eyes and colorful smiles. But he didn't wait until some pony asked to marry him! He flew out of the crowd, but they followed him. He entered his home and locked the door tight and stepped back, a sigh of relief came over him. Then there was a banging at the door, next, a wave of mares and stallions begging for the ticket, they all came until he was surrounded in his own home. Then an unknown mare came to the front. Cloudchaser. She carried the I-really-want-it face. Thunderlane locked out all the voices around him and onto Cloudchaser. He just listen to her begging.
"I'll...wash your mane! Or take care of Rumble! Maybe i will... GO ON A DATE WITH YOU!"
Thunderlane, was stunned. All the pressure of the ponies around him and Cloudchaser was just too much. He was a nice guy who liked Cloudchaser, but his niceness really got him this time. But he just did the next thing he could think of with the ticket. He ate it.
Not really swallow it, just put it on the side of his mouth pretending to.
Every pony in the room gasped. From niceness to anger, the crowed called him dreadful names. Then left in disappointment, but not Cloudchaser. She just looked at him for a while until every pony were gone. Then she straightened herself herself up and looked down, kicking dust.
"So..." She started.
"About that date."
He couldn't believe what he was hearing, she didn't know that the ticket was still intact. Was she serious?
"Pick me up at eight tomorrow okay? " with nothing more she darted out the window. Once she was out of the room. Thunderlane spit out the ticket, then quickly shoved it into his bed drawer again. Now since that situation was taken care of, back to the subject at hand, the date.
He couldn't believe it, a date with the mare of his dreams! He didn't ask her but, eh... what can you do? Tomorrow at eight. Tomorrow at eight. Tomorrow at eight! He kept thinking. This one big chance! But, wait. He looked back at the expression on her face. She seemed to really want the ticket. But what if it was just a bribe? Doubt came over him now. He wasn't sure if it was just a prank or something to mess with him. He didn't know what to do. But the only logical thing he could think of was to pick her up tomorrow, and see how things go.
One Chance for Thunderlane
The sun rose from the sky and lighted up the people of cloudsdale. Thunderlane was in his room, just staring at the ceiling.
"Maybe i will... GO ON A DATE WITH YOU!" Those words of Cloudchaser repeated in his mind all night, he hardly had any sleep. He looked at the time.Eight A.M. Twelve hours until his date. But where should he take her? What should he say? Its been at least a year since his last date. A slap across the face by Cloudkicker. Yikes. What if that same day happened today? He couldn't even live with himself anymore if that happened. All he did was look at another mare! Unbelievable as it sounds, mare's are sensitive. He never wanted that same reaction to happen again. He wanted to make more than a good impression. As soon as the time turns to Ten. Thunderlane's gonna find himself a restaurant. A good one at the least.
"Your going out with whom?!"
"Um...Thunderlane."
Cloudchaser and Cloudkicker were at the local market in pony ville, just searching for some groceries and treats. As the two mares walked they were just having a ''fun'' conversation about Cloudchaser's date going on that evening. Not really talking about anything more.
"I don't care what he's done in the past Cloudkicker! I,m gonna give him a chance."
"Well good luck. That colt is a cheater...sorta."
"What did he do?"
"Just looked at another mare. But i still think you shouldn't date him!"
"Jealous?"
Cloudkicker face turned red, she looked away. Cloudchaser giggled.
"Anyways, I think he's nice, I've known him since I was a filly, he's funny. And I sorta like him."
"Well! Don't come crying to me when you wake up in his bed with another mare!"
"Noted. And i think he likes me back. That could be nice."
"I still think you shouldn't see him."
"I'm not that kind of mare to keep some pony hanging." The rest of that evening certainly went by fast.
It was at least seven o clock, and Thunderlane still couldn't find a decent restaurant. Either the reservations were full or the food was just disgusting. There were at least four more stops to look at. Time was running out, one more hour till he can pick up Cloudchaser. Sixty minutes, count downing to his greatest date yet. Up in front of him was the restaurant the floating cloud, a peaceful coffee shop that served a mean pancake, might as well go here. It was decent, it wasn't too crowded, and it was just a first date! Why make it seem like a party? He entered the small rest stop. It had a seventies look to it, with a jukebox and vinyl radio. He trotted over to the counter to see a young stallion in a white apron. He had a cheerful voice, like a skip in his step.
"HI! How can I help you?"
"Well, what's you special for tonight?" he wanted to give her a good meal, just something original.
"We have our three layer pancake, the cloud milkshake and the salad supreme. What would you like?"
"Actually I'm coming in the next hour with a...date. Just, treat her right. I'll pay extra."
"You don't have to pay...Just come, and I'll serve."
"YOU sir, are a true stallion. Thank you"
.
Then Thunderlane left the restaurant in satisfaction. And from the clock inside, it said seven-thirty. All he had to do was get Rumble a babysitter. Only thirty minutes left. Then like the wonderbolts, he burst toward to find a kind mare. Blossomforth.
"You still sure you want to go with this? No backing out?"
Cloudkicker was in Cloudchaser's home. Cloudchaser was just putting some bits in her saddle bag. Getting ready for her date. But OBVIOUSLY Cloudkicker was still trying to reject her.
"Yes, I'm still going through with this."
"Okay... but don't worry, I'll be waiting here with a fluffed pillow and a box of tissue's."
"Noted."
She flew out the door and closed it behind her, leaving Cloudkicker there all alone as the house sitter for the rest of the night.
"I'll be waiting!" She yelled.
"Look, Blossomforth, all i need you to do is babysit Rumble for a while."
Thunderlane was standing at the door of Blossom forth's home, asking her to babysit rumble for the night until he got home. The time was seven fifty-five. closest his been so far to the date.
''I'm sorry Thunderlane, but I've got my own responsibilities to take care of."
"Come on! Just for one night?"
Blossomforth is one of the nicest Pegasus in Cloudsdale, but was hard to reason with. Time was going, and he had to pick up Cloudchaser soon at the park.
"I'll owe you one for a later date! Please?"
She looked at the little colt beside the black stallion, it was fortunate she had a soft spot for kids.
''Okay, I guess."
Thunderlane shoved Rumble into her hooves. Then turned and flew out of sight.
"That Thunderlane, sometimes i think he might get in big trouble. Or worse."
Blossomforth sent Rumble into her home and shut the door.
It seemed like dawn, the clouds held a nice shade of light orange and red. Thunderlane looked at the beautiful mare at the park. Just waiting for him. Thunderlane's heart was beating like crazy, as if it could burst out of his chest and hide. But he solemnly approached her. Both said nothing for a solid minute.
AWKWARD MOMENT...
"Well, you ready?" Thunderlane said.
"Ready."
He traced his steps from this morning to the floating cloud. He was planning for a steady approach, in his saddle bag was the ticket to the gala. He still wanted his plane to go through. They both entered the restaurant.
Nice start... But THE DATE now begins.
if this isn't a good story, i don't know WHAT IS! if i do say so myself. please enjoy, rate, and comment. More will come. soon. might be some typos also.
One Chance for Thunderlane
''It's not fair!"
Rumble was sitting in the large living room of Blossomforth's house, playing with some old toys that Thunderlane gave him. But still bored out of his mind.
"What's not fair?" Blossomforth stepped into the room.
"Thunderlane get's to go to the gala!"
Blossomforth looked puzzled for a moment.
"What do you mean?"
"He found a ticket to the Grand Galloping Gala yesterday! Didn't he tell you?"
Blossomforth had a huge grin on her face.
"Um, Rumble? Can you watch yourself until I come back?"
"Sure, I can completely obliterate your house..."
"What?"
"Hmm?"
But she left anyways, to try to find some Pegasus pony. Guess who?
Thunderlane sat himself down with Cloudchaser in the floating cloud, to make the date go on, he had to act like a gentlecolt to win her heart, and also with the Gala ticket. He just had to wait for the right time. But now to start a conversation until the waiter comes. He set down his saddle bag.
"So, how was your day so far?"
"Fine, just a normal day with Cloudkicker."
Thunderlane gulped. Your date plus your ex equals trouble, hopefully she won't take it the wrong way. She's not that kind of pony. At least that what he thought.
"What's happening with you?"
"Not much, I found something yesterday."
Cloudkicker attention turned and her mind went towards yesterday, the way she was acting toward the ticket of the the gala. Her face turned red, she actually yelled out her feeling toward him in front of a crowed, and she didn't even realize it. The waiter finally came to the table. It was the stallion from today that Thunderlane had talked to, he looked from him to Cloudchaser and instantly had a smile.
"May I take your order?"
Cloudchaser spoke first.
"I'll have a sun flower seed sandwich with a cloud milkshake please."
"Um... same..."
He wrote down the orders they wanted and left. But still she felt embarrassed of how she acted, But the Gala was the most enthusiastic and most greatest time of the year! Only one night once a year, and it wasn't like she was the only one who wanted to go. But disappointment came when she knew that he ate the ticket, she didn't know why, but she thought if she went on the date with Thunderlane it would be all better, like it was all a misunderstanding. A sick feeling came to her stomach.
A feeling of both betrayal and lies, but she didn't want Thunderlane to know. She wanted him to be happy just on this one date. But she bothered to ask one question...
"Hey Thunderlane, what would you do if you were at the Gala?"
He looked at her for a moment, trying to think of some words to say.
"Um, I would...uh...OH GOOD! The foods here!"
The waiter came back with a large plate plate of their orders. He placed them on the table and left. Thunderlane was lucky enough, it wasn't time to give her the ticket.
Blossomforth was flying frantic, trying to find Thunderlane were ever he may be. Then out of nowhere came a flash of blue and she blacked out, she opened her eyes to know she crashed into Flitter.
"WHOA! What's the rush?"
"You don't know? Wow you really need to get out more..."
"What is it?!"
"Thunderlane has a ticket to the Grand Galloping Gala!"
"What, really?! Wait, Isn't he going out with my sister?"
"YES! And that's why I need to find him! Wanna come?"
"I don't know... don't think it's fair to steal something from some pony's hooves."
"Oh come on! Didn't you say you always wanted to meet princess Luna?"
"Fine! I'm in..."
"Great! Now I can finally meet the Wonderbolts!"
"But I thought you said the ticket was for me!"
"What?"
"*sigh* Typical Blossomforth..."
***
"Okay, date's going good so far."
Thunderlane was sitting by himself right now. Cloudkicker was just in the bathroom.(Don't worry, he won't get dumped...).
They've just about finished their food, and was time to go. But once she comes back, he's gonna give her the ticket. He can see her walking from the back of the Restaurant. She sat herself down, and asked the same question from earlier today.
"So, what would you do at the Gala?"
"I was about to ask you the same thing."
He reached into his saddle bag, and took out the golden ticket, Then put it on the table in front of him for Cloudchaser to see. She stared at the object for a while and said.
"But I thought... I thought you-"
"I didn't really do it. I was saving it for you."
"Thank you but... I don't want it anymore."
She said what now?
"To be honest... I always liked you... but I could never tell you."
"Really?"
"At first, I thought I only went out with you for the ticket. I guess I was just being selfish. But now, I found out that... I really do like you..."
Thunderlane thought for a second, he flash backed to when he and Cloudchaser were just filly's, playing in the clouds. They were practically siblings. They hung around each other almost everyday. He fell in love with her naturally. For years he has been trying to impress her, but she never noticed him. She took the ticket with her mouth.
"That's why I'm doing this."
She tore the ticket in half. It was ironic, the ticket seemed like the key to happiness when it only bought trouble.
"You really like me?" he said.
"Not like, its more of a love...thing... and... is it okay if we go on another date soon?"
"Um... sure."
*Best, date, ever!* he thought. Thunderlane lay a few bits on the table and left with Cloudchaser out the door. But met up with both Blossomforth and Flitter, both panting from exhaustion. Blossomforth spoke up.
"Do you still have the ticket!"
"Are you still watching Rumble?"
