My Little Cyber
...Reveals Its Face From The Clouds
Previous ChapterNext ChapterOn the outskirts of town, there stood a large abandoned warehouse, previously owned by the Easy Breezy pegasus delivery service. Apparently, a certain grey pegasus had either lost or broke all of the shipments she was given, losing most of the business. Without any orders to ship out, the establishment was forced to close its doors for good, completely abandoning the old warehouse.
Unbeknownst to the citizens of Ponyville, a new group had taken residence in the old building, one with a much darker and sinister agenda.
Inside one of the few dusty rooms, there sat a pale blue stallion with a spikey black mane sticking out of his head. He was conversing with a showy figure behind a holographic screen emitted from a large red crystal.
"Unit, report." came a voice from the red gem.
"Good evening sir, we've almost finished establishing the base in Ponyville, though we've ran into some... complications."
"Complications? What do you mean 'complications.'" the shadow man growled.
The blue earth pony was starting to sweat bullets.
"T-t-two Fixed-Ideas were deactivated last night. All of their belongings were reclaimed... except for their vials of sustenance."
"Two units?" questioned the mysterious voice, "I need you to get to the bottom of this immediately, unit."
"Oh, um, of course sir! Right away!"
"Good." the voice on the other side settled down, "For additional assistance, I'll be sending Chromosome to that back water town."
"Of course sir, I'll have the rest of the units prepare for his arrival"
"Excellent. Don't fail me, unit."
The red glow of the hologram then disappeared, leaving the very nervous stallion alone in the dark.
"KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK"
Twilight groggily lifted herself from the warm confines of her bed. Atop of her head was a tangled unkept mane, while large bags rested under THER tired eyes. Slowly, she made her way towards the door...
...to reveal Pinkie Pie.
"It's soon!" exclaimed the excited earth pony.
Twilight quickly closed the door behind her, and let out a long heavy sigh. She defiantly wasn't a doctor, but she was certain that having an eccentric pink pony bothering you every morning couldn't be healthy.
Turning around, Twilight took a good hard look at the once empty living room which now housed a large pile of books at the centre.
"This is gonna take ages to clean up." she muttered.
She then heard the sound of someone someone hurriedly making their way down the stairs.
"Twilight!" Spike exclaimed, "you're up, are you okay?"
"Of course Spike, why wouldn't I be?"
Spike looked at her with a look of surprise on his face.
"You mean you don't remember what happened? I found you unconscious underneath a broken book case. There was a giant hole on the side of the library for crying out loud!"
The memories of last night quickly flooded into Twilights head.
"By Celestia, she got away."
"What? Who got away?"
Twilight took a deep breath, before beginning her tale.
"I saw this mysterious mare clad in black last night. She was chasing this ginormous green stallion in the middle of ye night."
"What? Was this the woman who attacked you?" Spike asked, anger rising in his voice.
"Surprisingly, no. She just wanted to hunt down that monster. When I confronted her, she completely vanished into the night."
"Wait, she just vanished? Just like that?"
"Weird, right." Twilight continued, "But it turns out she followed back here, where she wanted to take this weird vial of green acid from me. But then, another one of these stallions burst into the house!"
"Just like that? Was he the one who hurt you?" Spike probed.
"Unfortunately, yes. He was gonna kill that woman, Spike! After I got him off her, he threw me into that broken book case upstairs. Everything went black from there."
Spike blankly stared at Twilight.
"Listen Twilight, not that I'm questioning your sanity or anything, but are you sure you weren't dreaming or something?"
Twilight marched up the staircase, towards the remnants of her old desk, and Spike quickly followed suit. Once up stairs, she bent down to pick the glowing green vial off the floor, and showed it to Spike. He held a look only astonishment on his face.
"Am I dreaming this, Spike" Twilight asked.
"By Celestia. Is that what the woman was after?"
"I think so." responded Twilight, "Wait a second, didn't you hear any of the fighting last night?"
"I heard a few crashes, but... I slept through them..." Spike meekly replied.
"Slept through them? How on earth could you sleep through something like that?" Twilight accused.
"Come on, Twilight, you know I'm a heavy sleeper." responded Spike "Anyways, it took the sound of the window breaking to finally wake me up. I ran to your study to find you unconscious by the book shelf."
Spike worked back a sniffle, before continuing his story.
"I was scared Twi. I just saw you laying there unconscious, and I-I panicked."
Twilight's attitude quickly did a one-eighty as she brought Spike into a hug. The dragon was desperately fighting back tears.
"Hey listen, it's okay Spike, I'm fine. Don't worry about me."
Spike slowly pulled away from Twilight before continuing.
"Everyone was already asleep, so I didn't know who to grab. All I could do was wrap up your head, and put you in your bed, hoping you'd be fine in the morning."
"You wrapped up my head?" questioned Twilight. She lifted her hand towards the top of her head, and felt a cloth underneath her bangs.
"I'm sorry I couldn't do more Twilight. I was a nervous wreck. I didn't want to lose you."
"I told you, Spike, I'm all right." Twilight reassured, "Just a little bump on my head. I'll be fine."
"I'm glad you're alright Twilight," Spike responded with a slight smile on his face, "but what are we going to do about the woman? Notify the guard ponies?"
Twilight thought for a long moment.
"No Spike, I think that would be a bad idea."
"But why?" asked Spike, "That woman sounds dangerous. Technically speaking, she was the reason that thug tossed you!"
"Maybe so Spike, but I think she's in trouble."
Spike stared at Twilight, his mouth slightly agape. He couldn't believe Twilight wanted to help a stranger who nearly got her killed!
"Alright, fine, no guards. But we have to do something!"
"I need to find her, and get some answers from her. She may be dangerous, but she doesn't seem like the bad guy."
Spike placed a hand on her shoulder, and looked directly in her eyes.
"Be careful Twi, It was a close call last night, and I don't want anything else happen to you."
Twilight placed a reassuring smile on her lips.
"Don't worry Spike, she never once tried to hurt me." she replied, "now come help me put some books away. We got to hurry, because I need to pick up a birthday cake soon..."
The rest of the morning was spent placing the books back on their respected shelves, and repairing a broken window and shelf. After their chores, Spike went to go see if he could assist Rarity with any chores around the boutique.
On the other hand, Twilight made her way towards Sugarcube Corner to pick up a cake.
She may be slightly injured, but that wasn't about to stop her from throwing Pinkie Pie the best surprise party ever. She couldn't wait to see the look on her face.
Within the warehouse, the blue Stallion stood in front of a large wooden desk, patiently waiting for the Doctors latest arrival. Should the rumours be true, this was one of the Doctors greatest scientific achievements, so he needed to protect this unit with his life.
Suddenly, the doors quickly opened with a bang, and a Fixed-Idea, larger than any of the average ones, made his way into the room.
"Um, Mister Chromosome?" asked the blue stallion.
"He's not Chromosome!" came a high pitched voice.
As on cue, a small beige colt marched around the Fixed-Idea, and stood impatiently in front of it.
"Wait," said the astonished blue stallion, "you're Chromosome."
The swept his long, unkept black mane out of his face, and marched his way past the stallion.
"You're the Techno in charge of this operation, correct?"
"Um, yes. Howev-"
"Good," Chromosome stated abruptly, "you will do everything that I say..."
He struggled to climb his way in top of the wooden desk, the stood proudly on top. He quickly adjusted his red-tinted glasses before finishing.
"... and in the future, you shall stand in my presence."
"Well, that didn't exactly turned out as planned, but I'm glad she enjoyed the party." Twilight said as she walked home from Sweet Apple Acres with Spike and Rarity at her sides.
The sun was slowly setting beyond the horizon. Night would soon make its way across all of Equestria.
"I completely agree," replied Rarity, "I'm sure it was much better than spending the evening with a bucket of radishes."
Spike, Twilight, and Rarity let out a soft laugh.
"I sure hope so." replied Twilight, before turning her attention towards the young dragon walking beside her, "are you sure you're gonna be alright tonight, Spike?"
Before Spike could respond, Rarity piped up.
"But why wouldn't he be, darling?"
"Well..." Twilight trailed off.
"We had a bit of a break in last night," Spike stated bluntly, "There was a fight, broken property, you know the usual."
"What!" Rarity shouted sounding alarmed, "A break in? Are you two alright?"
"We're fine, though I got a bit of a concussion." responded Twilight.
"Break in's? Concussions? This simply won't do!" Rarity announced dramatically, "What if these ruffians decide to return?"
"I'll probably be out of the house, looking for someone to help me capture the criminals."
"This 'someone', are you sure they can bring these ruffians to justice?" Rarity asked worriedly.
"If anything, she'll give me answers." Twilight replied.
"But what of Spike? You musn't simply leave my little spikey wikey home alone, not with these monsters out and about."
"I..." Twilight trailed off, "I didn't think of that. By Celestia, what if they hurt Spike while I'm gone?"
"Don't worry Twilight," said Spike, "I can handle a few thugs."
"No no no!" Rarity exclaimed, "I couldn't sleep at night knowing that my little dragon was in danger."
The fashionista brought her hand up to her chin, as if thinking of an idea.
"I got it, what if Spike were to stay with me tonight, while you were off to go deal with these ruffians."
"Oh, are you sure?" Twilight asked, "I wouldn't want to impose."
"Wait, don't I get a say in this?" Spike said, "What if Twilight needs my help."
"Are you actually trying to talk your way out of spending an evening with Rarity?" Twilight questioned with a smirk forming on her face.
Spike immediately covered his face in his claws, desperately trying to hide the blush on his face.
"Really Twilight," Rarity stated, "It would be no problem at all."
"Well, thank you for your hospitality Rarity," Twilight replied, "we just need to stop by the library to pick up some toiletries and a change of clothes for Spike."
"Well we're here!" exclaimed Rarity as she entered the boutique with Spike, "let me show you the guest room."
The pair made their way up a staircase, before entering a spare bedroom. It housed a single bed, a simple drawer, and a large window with its long white drapes drawn back, letting the moonlight pour into the room.
"I know it's rather simplistic, but it will do for the time being. What do you think?" asked Rarity.
She turned around to see the dragon looking solemnly at the floor.
"... Is something the matter, Spike?"
"I'm abandoning her, Rarity." Spike responded with sadness in his voice, "These thugs hurt her yesterday. What if something even worse happens tonight?"
"Spike, look at me." Rarity demanded, using her hand to lift his head, he gazed into her lovely blue eyes.
"What happened yesterday wasn't your fault. These ruffians are the ones to blame, not you."
Rarity took a deep breath.
"I understand that you feel obligated to help her, she's like a sister to you after all. But you're technically still a baby dragon. Neither Twilight nor myself want to see a single scale on you harmed."
With that said, she slowly removed her hand, and made her way to the door.
"Besides, Twilight is the most gifted unicorn I've ever met. If any-pony can find these criminals and bring them to justice, it's her. Don't worry that little head of yours."
Spike brought a small smile onto his face.
"Thanks Rarity. I really needed to hear that."
The white unicorn returned a smile.
"No worries darling. Now you should probably get some sleep. Goodnight, spikey wikey."
With that said, Rarity gently closed the door to the bedroom, leaving Spike alone in the dark. He let out a long sigh, and threw his duffle bag onto the bed. He then made his way over to the window, and peered out into the dark streets below.
"But it is my fault." he told himself in a much softer voice, "I was the one who led the damn Fixed-Idea to the library."
Spike lifted a hand towards the top of his head. With a gentle push, the green scales softly folded towards the side of his head.
"She needs my help. She can't handle a group of these monsters alone."
With that said, Spike gentler slid his hoodie off of his back, and quietly removed his jeans.
Reaching into his bag, he produced a black leather body suit, along with matching gloves, boots, hat and cape.
He quietly slipped the costume on, making sure each article as securely in place, shielding his scales from any prying eyes.
Spike slowly made his was over to the reflection, and gently placed the wide brimmed hat atop his head, shrouding his face in darkness. He then slowly opened the window.
As he climbed outside, he was no longer the scared little dragon that cowered in the face of danger. Instead, there stood a strong and fearless mistress of the night, ready to take on another one of the Doctors sick experiments.
"Don't worry, I'm coming, Twi." she whispered in her low, feminine voice.
And with a kick of her legs, she was off soaring into the night.
She had a unicorn to save.
