Chromabloom
Mornings With the Apples (Re-edited)
Previous ChapterNext ChapterBloom stirred in her bed as the sun rose. The memories of the party last night still playing in her dreams. The rooster crowed, and she knew the day had to start. With a groan she got, almost immediately Chroma popped up on her H.U.D.
"Morning"
"Ya, Ya" She waved a hoof at the image absently as she stretched.
"you ok?" he asked, and she could practically hear the eye he didn't have raise.
"Not awake... Let me get mah morning apple, and a bath." She mumbled. Her other half chortled.
"Don't forget School today." He reminded her, and she glared at nothing for a second as she walked to the door.
"Yay, as if I don't have enough to worry about." She groaned and made her way downstairs.
The kitchen was livelier than usual. Bloom walked in to find Granny Smith and Vauban. She was cooking and chatting up a storm as the Frame listened with a cup of coffee in his gloves.
"So there I was lost deep in that forsaken forest with nothing but mah wit's and my good ole' fryin pan. Then in a flash of lightning, I see Twenty of the beasts. Eye's green and hungry. So I did the most sensible thing I could and ran like the dickens. But them critters were smarter than your average hungry beast. They kept popping up, Leading me where they wanted, and it certainly wasn't back to my warm bed that's for sure."
Bloom hopped into a chair and reached for an apple.
"Morning youngin I was just telling one of your alien friends about when I discovered the Zap apples." The Frame took a sip of the brew
"I was expecting it to be informative, but this is on par with a Tenno mission in peril."
"You'll have to tell me one of those tales next." Vauban nodded.
There was a series of hoofsteps that signaled Applejack was up. The thuds went up a bit stopped sounded like she said something Then rapidly descended the stairs as she burst into the kitchen.
"Granny Blooms." Applejack stopped when she saw Bloom, Chroma, and Vauban sitting in the kitchen looking at her. Her eyes were still wide as her brain fought to wake up. Granny put on a happy face.
"Blooms right her Aj. She just beat you to the punch that's all. I also got a response from Mac he'll be home in a couple of days or so." Bloom woke up a bit at the news.
"That's great he can see Blooms back." She trailed off her brain working overtime to catch up to reality. Granny looked concerned but returned to a happy face when Bloom looked at her. She slid Bloom an extra fritter with a wink. Then Vauban two who nodded and thanked her. Applejack's stupor broke a little as breakfast sat in front of her.
"So whats on the agenda for today?" Gran asked
"School." Bloom let out blandly
"Tending to South field." Applejack let out absentmindedly.
"I think I help out if you don't mind," Vauban spoke up looking at the Mare hoping not to intrude but was curious how farm work was done without hands, or thumbs, or Magic. AJ nodded, and he'd figure he'd have to ask later when she was more awake.
"Operator Bloom's Training starts today." The Cephalon's hologram blinked into view at the end of the table, beaming happily. "Today Excalibur and Volt will be teaching Melee and Movement." Bloom perked up slightly "After Bloom *Pony* school has ended of course." And right back down she went.
Granny whistled "Sounds like you got a full day youngin. Once your washed up and ready go on we warned as much of the townsfolk as we could. Hopefully not too many of em faint." Granny laughed at her joke. Bloom shook her head and finished her breakfast, and Making her way back up the stairs towards the bathroom.
One thing Chroma excitedly detached for after the water was, drawn the two worked quick. Once everything was cleaned, and Bloom was rinsing her hair Chroma sank down into the warm water and blew little soap bubbles.
"You seem pretty relaxed." Bloom pointed out.
"Baths while not as Efficient as the sonic cleaning Tenno use. But are far more Enjoyable. He looked very content even closing his four eyes to enjoy it further.
"They're better after a hard day." She smiled and began to fill the bucket to rinse off.
Once everything was rinsed, and the tub emptied they reconnected, and Chroma flash dried them both with a puff of steam. She shuttered from the reconnection then set out to prepare her saddlebags only to find them missing. She searched, well aware of the dwindling time. Just for granny to call out.
"yer bags down here Youngin, Slipped mah mind I had to put a letter from the princess explaining a thing or two for your teacher."
"Oh Ok" Bloom tried to cast a glance at Chroma but realized she couldn't see the hood of the pelt she knew was there. The Pelt chortled at the filly as she almost turned a full circle trying to glace at him. She heard the chortle, but he didn't show up on her screen to add an extra bit of jest.
"Your grannies old for a pony and maybe a tad forgetful." Chroma reasoned. Bloom decided to cast her suspicious glance at the wall since her other half could obviously tell what face she was making. But Bloom knew better about Granny Smith. She liked to play up the old act. But Bloom brushed her teeth and Hair putting her Bow under Chroma's hood, so it still stuck out. Ordis popped up on her screen.
"Ordis would love to take the Operator to her pony school." Bloom looked at the Cephalon with a raised eyebrow.
"Ordis ya do know it's only ten minutes down the road right?"
"Oh but Ordis can make it there in point one of a second operator, please. Ordis used to take the operator to all of there, missions. It has been so long since Ordis has done *ANYTHING* that." Bloom sighed relenting
"Fine but keep a low profile." Ordis did a little dance on her screen and flicked out, and she heard the linset's engines. Rolling her eyes, she walked downstairs and waved goodbye to everyone and opened the door to the expected ship waiting like an expectant puppy. It wasted no time rushing her inside. She felt the ship launch. Then stop.
"We are here Operator." Bloom looked out the glass and saw Prance...
Ordis were not in ponyville" Bloom deadpanned.
"Hmm, I will attempt to bypass these faults." The ship sped up then stopped again.
"Canterlot." Bloom let out unamused.
"Getting closer operator." Bloom face hoofed.
While one Tenno tried to get to class another meditated in the same gardens she just passed over. Oberon Floated peacefully, in the Castle gardens several birds had rested on his antler crown. He felt a warm presence Trott up, and he opened his senses to see the Solar princess watching him.
"Good morning Princess." He greeted, and she bowed her head with a smile "Good morning Oberon. I'm glad to see you enjoy the gardens." the Tenno put his hoof like boots on the ground and stood causing the birds to flutter briefly before resettling.
"How could I not Princess they are breathtaking."
Celestia's smile grew, enjoying the fact these Warframes could find peace here. But that smile brought a sour thought to the end of it, What else would visit there planet and If such powerful Guardians as these were needed to keep the peace how would her ponies deal with such things.
"Princess Celestia?" Oberon caught her attention in a respectful manner
"Oh I'm sorry I got lost in thought" She tried to play here worries off and refocused on the Tenno.
"I asked what was wrong?" The voice sounded grown and mature but the way he asked made this warrior seam like a child. This worried the Solar Princess.
"I worry what else might find this planet and if we can deal with it." She voiced her real concerns hoping direct answers might quell her fears. The Tenno nodded understanding too well.
"This planet is not in our origin system, But somehow connected by the Void in a remote pocket. Someone or something would have to know exactly how to get here for anyone to find it." Oberon stated, and Celestia found it soothing to her mind to know they were so off the beaten path. But such close-minded thinking to isolate themselves from the whole universe she now knew was out there. Would that be wise? So much knowledge lost due to fear. It didn't sit right in the Pony Princesses gut. When a loud warcry split the peace sending the birds flying away, and Oberon tensed.
"Oh, no Valkyr! I'm sorry something must have set her off. I'll go and make sure she doesn't cause any harm!' Oberon spoke fast and started to run only for the frenzied Frame to burst from the bushes frightening them all. The Orange and Black, frame was in hysteria mode her long energy claws blazed like orange fire as she looked every which way for something she was undoubtedly hunting.
"Whatever or Whoever made you mad more than likely didn't mean it, Valk, you gotta calm down." Oberon urged, but the Frame was deaf to his words. She looked at the sky, and Oberon followed her gaze. His gut dropped it was Luna the Princess of the Moon.
"Valk?" he tried to ask, but she launched herself at the Blue Princess with a growl. "Valk NO!" But instead of Her shredding the Princess and all of them being declared criminals His worst fear for he liked this place. The Lunar Princess laughed joyously and dropped under her as Valkyr frantically reached for her with her claws like a cat whose toy was out of reach.
Luna Fell to earth and Oberon noticed she had Full plate armor in her Dark blue. A mighty helm with a blade under her horn. Even her wings had plates to protect the joints. Oberon Marveled at the craftsmanship of the silver that ran through in flowing lines. She had Heat marks on a couple of places, but nothing more then misses. Valkyr landed and without losing momentum bounced back up in the air to relaunch herself. The Princess launched right back into the fray with a hearty chuckle. She blocked the Frames initial punch with a straight silver sword. Then threw the Frame's weight overhead. Luna Dropped rolling to avoid the kick that followed. The rattle of plate on stone and Valkyr's warcry filled the one peaceful garden. Luna unfurled her wings and glided back out of rage of the paralyzing energy wave. But Valkyr pushed herself harder and faster. Spinning claws out like a whirlwind of fury Valkry swept towards the Princess. The immense heat burned a trail on Luna's Armor, but the Frame's hands never made physical contact. The uppercut left Valkyr exposed, and Luna planted her sword between the two and Spun the frame into a throw that landed her rolling near Oberon's feet. Valkyr rubbed her head, and her Hysteria fizzled out as she ran out of energy.
"Valkyr by the void what is going on!" he demanded an explanation, But instead the Frame's hand shot out stopping inches from the center of his chest. Her pointer finger shot out tapping him on the chest.
"Tag" her rough voice came out almost amused then she collapsed into a sitting position. Celestia's Laughter drew his attention.
"Sister, how much of our Castle have you destroyed in your game?"
Luna trotted up sword resting on her shoulder.
"No one was maimed, Dear sister." Luna dodged the question, and Oberon looked between the two
"This, That was a game of Tag?" Oberon asked in disbelief.
"A game which I have yet to lose Tenno." Luna challenged looking straight at Oberon. Valkyr Chuckled
"Good, Luck." Oberon threw her a look then reached behind him to draw his Gram. A double-edged plasma greatsword
"The rules Princess?"
"Land a solid hit, and I will attempt to do the same back. A more fun version of Tag if you will Tenno." She excitedly said. Her accent was coming out in her speech.
"Simple enough" Oberon nodded and held the greatsword two-handed out in front of him. Luna dropped low Sword pointed over her shoulder. They began to circle each other sizing there opponent up as they walked. Oberon felt he was using the wrong type of weapon here. She was fast and agile something the gram was not. But if used right it's weight might help capitalize on any missteps the princess might make. His thoughts were interrupted when the Lunar princess charged him with a beat of her mighty wings flying straight at him. He answered by jumping like a bullet and swung his Gram. The heavy weapon went right through her causing his heart to stop momentarily. The Princess poofed in a cloud of sparkly royal blue dust. Almost too late he realized the fake for the real Luna was upon him, their swords clashed rapidly. The grams weight was working against the Tenno in speed. After a block, he tried to swing but She'd dodge it effortlessly with simple moves. Then she'd put him right back on the defensive with a barrage of swings. Changing tactics, he flipped backward avoiding her swing as Luna advanced he swung the Gram around his back spinning with his body putting more significant momentum into the blade's upward strike. The Princess rolled to the right. Not stopping the momentum he let it swing back around. Shifting his grip he spun with the blade out. As the spinning top of a Tenno blade neared her she jumped over him Striking out with her silver blade. The Tenno dove to the right side using the rest of the spinning motion to knock the Princess's sword away in the nick of time. Rolling back to his feet Tenno and Princess looked at each other,
"Masterfully wielded Tenno." She praised.
"More than I ever expected your highness." He admitted. He ran at her full force and swung with his whole arm using the sword as an extension of it to reach out and try to touch her. She flipped away from the attack. He let it swing fully. The Gram spun on his back, as he went to catch the hilt. Luna's blade stopped the motion and tried to flick it off his back. Luckily he found it by the very end of the grip. Oberon turned into the movement with a spin as he shifted it to both hands channeling as much strength and energy he could into this last swing. His whole frame glowed and sparked as he swung. The sound of shattering metal filled the garden, and Luna spun away with a hop to a respectable distance away. Her sword laid broken in two, and her breastplate had shattered.
"The match is mine." Oberon declared Luna's ear perked up at her supposed defeat.
"What makes you say that?" she asked, and Oberon pointed the Gram at the shattered pieces of her sword.
"Your weapon is broken. the match is over." He declared again, and Celestia sipped her tea calmly. Right before Luna laughed making the Tenno feel tense.
"Why would losing one sword stop the Princess of The Night, noble Tenno?" she asked as her eye blared white and the sky darkened causing the Tenno to look up. Magic circles formed all around Luna Six exact copies of the very same sword he just broke floated and circled in a halo of blades behind the princess's flared wings. Her breastplate repaired it'self. A longer silver sword with curved horns for a hilt floated out of the circles. Then a stone slab with simple grooved grip. The whole thing was taller than the Paladin Frame. She held them in her magic. This battle wasn't a fight he could win not as he was. This was a squad armed with ballistics and a Trinity battle.
"No, it is simply my turn to tag you." He voice echoed, and lightning flashed. Oberon panicked and hit her with his Smite. The second that ball of Radiation hit her Oberon knew he messed up. Her head whipped to the side, and the green proc of the radiation washed over her. She looked at him, eyes aglow her weapons lit with magic blue flames.
"You DARE! Use my sister's energy against ME!" Her voice produced physical gusts of wind. She floated into the air above him and raised that Slab now ablaze with ruins he couldn't read but had a feeling weren't for his benefit. He could practically hear an. Orchestral choir lamenting what was about to happen.
"By the void..." He managed to let out before being Oneshot through a solid marble wall.
