Destruction visits Equestria

Twilight let out a yawn, just waking up.  She walked past Spike, who was still asleep while sucking his claw.  She went down the crystal steps, walking into the throne/map room.

She couldn't help but notice something odd.  Her eyes grew a bit wide and she stepped towards the map.  She saw the cutie marks floating above the map, in a mountainous area.  There appeared to be a small stone tower atop one of the taller mountains.

"Spike!" She called, hoping Spike would wake up.  She was only given slightly louder snored from the baby dragon.  She sighed softly.  "Guess I'll just go round them up myself."  With that, she ran out the door.

20 Minutes Later...

The anthro ponies stood around the map, trying to figure out why the map started to show them where to go again.  "So, why in tarnation do we have to go to a small tower at the top of a mountain?  There can't be much we can do there."  AppleJack said.

"Well...I'm not sure to be honest.  Last time the map activated, we saved an entire town.  I'm not sure what we can do in a small tower..." She said, still puzzled.  She thought for another moment before saying.  "Well, whatever the reason, it must be important."

The rest of the mares nodded in response.  And with that, they prepared to travel.  Twilight had Spike send a letter to Celestia, stating that they'll be gone for a few days or longer.  So the mares set out, leaving Spike to take care of the castle while they were gone.  They boarded the train and set off for the mountains.

About 5 hours Later...

Twilight and her friends finally stepped out into the Crystal Empire.  They were greeted by some locals, as they were known for taking part in the saving of the Crystal Empire.

  They walked around the Crystal Empire, where they finally made it to the foots of the mountains.  Rainbow Dash couldn't even fly up there because the snow was coming down to hard.  They walked up the mountain, AppleJack couldn't help but groan at Rarity.

"Warm 'nough Rarity?" She asked.  Rarity was dressed in about 7 scarves.  "What?  It's cold up here!"  AppleJack continued to slightly glare as she spoke. "Then how come ya'll are wearin' a dress?!"

Rarity paused for a moment, then posed slightly.  "Just because it's cold doesn't mean I can't look fabulous!"  As another cold breeze came by, the hugged herself and shivered.

For what seemed like hours, they walked through the cold snowy mountains.  They were barley able to see what was in front of them.  But then, through the snow, they could make out the silhouette of a tower!

Pinkie Pie zipped by Twilight, dashing to the tower like a pink blur.  "Pinkie wait!  You don't know what's up there!"  Twilight yelled as they all ran up after her.

They finally made it to the tower, old would be an understatement, it looked ancient!  Twilight walked up to the old oak wood door and slowly opened it.

Pinkie was sitting in a wood chair, sitting by a fire and drinking hot cocoa.  They were all looking at Pinkie in disbelief.  "What?  Did you want some?" She asked, holding out her cocoa.

A mouse ran across the room, which Fluttershy started to talk to.  It made her more comfortable now that there was an animal around.  Twilight noticed something on the wall that was covered in an old dusty sheet.  She took hold of the sheet and took it off, gasping at what she saw.

It was a big, old portrait of a unicorn.  He looked old, and had a coat of light grey.  He had a large white beard and a blue hat and coat.  The hat had a bell on the tip and the hat and coat had stars and a moon on them.

"This tower was StarSwirl the Bearded's..." She said in shock.  But that shock soon turned into excitement,  she squee'd slightly.  "This is StarSwirl the Bearded's tower!  There must be tons of spells and stories in here!  Oh I can't wait to read them a---"

She was cut off by the look Rainbow Dash was giving her.  She coughed slightly and regained her composure.  "W-Well....let's try to find out why exactly the map led us here.

For the next 20 minutes, they searched and searched.  Twilight continuously pulled books off the shelves and looked at the covers and titles, trying to find some importance that will help her search.  Rainbow Dash yawned as she looked through the books.  Soon though, she had enough.

"Oh come on!  There has to be something here that's cool and awesome!  That's why the map would take us here, to fight some horrible monster or something!"  Hearing monster, Fluttershy hid behind one of the chairs, though was still clearly visible.

"Don't worry Fluttershy, there ain't no monster here." AppleJack said, reassuring her friend.  "And Rainbow, ya'll need to calm down.  Faster we find somethin' important, faster we can solve this."

"Look over here girls!" Exclaimed Twilight.  In her hands was StarSwirled the Bearded's journal.  Though it was completely different then the one sent to her by Celestia.  Not only that, but it looks like it hasn't been opened in centuries.

Twilight noticed a tabbed page, and decided to open to that.  She read aloud the text on the page.  "In all my years, I have never found a spell as powerful as this one.  If my calculations are correct, if all the ponies of Equestria focus the magic within them and all think about the same Unicorn/Alicorn, all of their magic will be transferred to him/her.  All that is needed for it to work is a powerful unicorn and or alicorn and a powerful magic absorbing spell.  If the spell will work, I do not know.  But if it does, the pony who absorbs the magic will become stronger than any being before..."

She finished the text, the rest of the pages in the journal were blank.  She stared at the journal, then looked at her cutie mark, noticing the glow.  "Really?  That's what we came for?" Asked the rainbow pegasus, who was flying right above Twilight.

Rarity stepped next to Twilight, taking a look at the journal.  "Why in Equestria would we need to know that?"  She asked.  Twilight was beyond confused now.  Why would the map send them to find this spell?  Why would they need it?

After a minute of thinking, she said.  "I don't know...but maybe Celestia will.  Come on girls!  Let's go to Canterlot and tell Celestia abut this."  They stepped back out to the cold mountain.  Twilight stared at the journal and thought to herself.

"Why did you have this spell..?"
