Chapter 14.

Sunset’s funeral.

Two days had passed by slowly both Luna and Celestia took time off of work to mourn Sunset’s passing. Now as Celestia stood in front of her hallway mirror looking at the black one piece dress she had selected to wear for her daughter's funeral. Celestia’s thoughts dwelt entirely on Sunset. After she had finished looking at herself making sure everything was as it should be Celestia walked away from the mirror and headed down stairs into her daughter’s room. Looking around she saw her daughter had not yet finished a book that was sitting face open on a desk that was in her daughter's room. Walking over to the desk Celestia picked up the book looked at it then put it back onto the desk just as she had found it. The title of the book in the upper left corner of the ledger read ‘Alice in wonderland through the looking glass’. Celestia recalled clearly in her mind how happy and thrilled Sunset was to receive the book. Sitting down on the edge of her daughter's bed Celestia put a hand to her face as she began to cry. Luna while upstairs heard her sister crying and came down stairs to comfort her sister. As she walked into her deceased nieces room Celestia sobbed out.

“I want my baby back home where she belongs….dammit this isn’t far we shouldn’t be going to her funeral!”

Looking at her sister Luna walked up to her and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder saying to her softly.

“I know you want her back home Tia I want that too. I also want this monster to pay for this, for all the pain he has caused you to endure.”

Looking up with her mascara running down her face as tears streamed down her cheeks like a water faucet Celestia hugged her sister. Then said to her through her sobs.

“I don’t want this bastard to go to jail I want him dead for this.”

“I know Tia.” Luna replied as she hugged her sister tightly.

The two of them hugged each other for five minutes then ended their embrace. As they both headed back up stairs with Celestia turning to take one last final look at her daughter's room before she shut the door and locked it. Heading up stairs she sighed then went to the garage followed by her sister got into her car and pressed a button on the remote that was located inside the car itself. Opening the garage door Celestia backed the car out as Luna buckled in then once they were safely out of the garage. Celestia pressed the button again and closed it as she and Luna headed out to the church were her daughter's funeral was to take place. Pulling into the church parking lot a half hour later both Luna and Celestia got out shut the doors to Celestia’s car and headed inside. Twilight, Rainbow and Fluttershy had all taken a taxi to get there Applejack had picked up Rarity and Pinkie mother had dropped her off. Twilight walked up to Pinkie saying to her.

“Thank you for handling the catering for the wake after the funeral Pinkie I know Principal Celestia and Vice Principal Luna really do appreciate it.”

Pinkie nodded to Twilight then took her seat Applejack and Fluttershy each hugged Twilight before each of them took their seats as well. Celestia and Luna also took their seats as Twilight headed up to the front to speak to those that attended Sunsets funeral. Getting to the podium and looking out at the crowd before her Twilight could feel a real sense of warmth and love for Sunset. As she cleared her throat to begin speaking Rainbow got up and walked out of the church. Fluttershy had wanted to follow her girlfriend but, chose to remain to show her support to Celestia and Luna. As Twilight spoke she noticed a girl with green hair and deep golden eyes also get up and walk out of the church. Once Twilight finished speaking each of her friends also went up to say a few words for Sunsets funeral. Applejack was first as she said to the crowd before her.

“I remember when Sunset first road storm razor I think that was the first time I ever got to see her smile and I do mean really see a general smile on her face. She must have road that goofy horse for at least six hours before needing help getting down. And of course that stupid horse had to just go and show off for her as well. Trotting around the pastor and running up and down the field but, all the while there was Sunset smiling and laughing the whole time.”

Taking her seat Fluttershy went up next as she too looked out at the crowd before her she like Twilight felt the same amount of love and warmth for Sunset as Twilight had. Saying to everyone as she looked at all those who came to her friends funeral.

“I remember when Sunset and I passed out flyers for the animal shelter she still didn’t really understand what friendship was back then. And was not used to what she called ‘unwanted attention’  yet she was willing to help. It was so nice of her to help with that and when Angel Bunny got really sick Sunset was there to help nurse him back to health. I will always be grateful to her for that.”

Rarity got up straightened her dress then headed up to the podium as Fluttershy was about to pass her Rarity stopped her and hugged her. Fluttershy accepted the warmth and hug from her friend then took her seat when the embrace ended. Rarity stood in front of the crowd let out a soft sigh then said to everyone.

“I remember when Sunset needed some new clothing she had been living on the streets for quite some time. I had offered to get her to a shelter but, she refused saying to me ‘it sounds like a mental home that you want to stick me into.’ that was Sunset for you almost always on the defensive. So one day when I found her digging through my trash can looking for something to eat I took her in. Gave her a clean bath and hot meal. It took a little while but, I was able to get her to go shopping with me that day. The look that came over her face when I gave her leather coat is one that I will always remember. I don’t think I can recall her not ever once not smiling or saying thank you to me. She must have smiled and said thank you to me at least sixty times that day. I will miss her terribly.”

Rarity took her seat then buried her face into the hands and Fluttershy hugged her tightly while she sobbed. Pinkie was the last to go up to the podium like all those that went up before her she too felt a warmth and real sense of love for Sunset as she too looked out into the crowd before her. Swallowing hard she said to everyone present.

“I will always recall with great happiness the bakery sale that the cakes had last fall. They needed help with getting everything ready and Sunset didn’t know the first thing about cooking. So I thought it would be a good idea to teach her by bringing her to sale and letting her dive right on in. I was truly amazed at how quickly she picked things up. Within a matter of mere moments it was as if she was a master chief. I loved her chocolate taffy and roll butter cookies that she made that day. I will never forget the smile she had when she made her first honest sale and knew what it was like to earn money the right way not steal it for your own personal gain or need. She taught me what it really meant to laugh not just for yourself but, because you feel like laughing I will always be grateful for that.”

Celestia and Luna both hugged each other as they watched Applejack,Rarity, Fluttershy and Pinkie walk up to Sunsets coffin. Rarity stood across from Pinkie with Applejack in front of her and Fluttershy standing across from her. The four had been selected to be the pallbearers to Sunsets coffin as it was carried out to the hearse that was parked out front. As Celestia watched as her daughter's coffin was being placed inside of the hearse she said softly to herself.

“I will never forget you Sunny I will find this person and I will make him pay for this.”

When everyone got outside they all saw that Rainbow the green haired girl from earlier where both nowhere to be seen. Figuring her girlfriend just wanted to be alone Fluttershy did bother to question Rainbows disappearance. Luna and Celestia both walked back to their car and got ready to  follow the hearse to the cemetery. The hearse door was closed and Sunset’s coffin was driven down the road to the cemetery. There it was placed into the open grave and Celestia picked up a small handful of dirt then dropped it into the open grave of her daughter's gravesite. Saying as she slowly turned around to face her sister who also did the same as she had done.

“I would like to go home and be left alone throughout the rest of the day Luna.”

Looking at her sister Luna nodded then brought Celestia to her car opened the passenger side door and closed it once Celestia was safely inside the car. Looking around Luna closed her eyes then got into the car herself and placed the key into the ignition. Starting up the car she backed it up and drove her and her sister home. Rainbow had ran down the street and towards the park she found herself sitting on a bench crying hard. When a voice broke her from her sobbing.

“Excuse me are you Rainbow Dash?”

Looking up Rainbow saw a green haired girl with golden eyes standing in front of her. Sniffing hard she replied to the girl.

“Yes I am what of it!”

The girl just smiled as she took a seat next to Rainbow then sighed as she asked her.

“How badly do you want to find the person that did this?”

Rainbow looked at her then down at the ground then back at the strange girl sitting next to her. As she was about to reply the green haired girl unbuttoned her right sleeve of her white blouse and showed her arm to Rainbow. Rainbow saw on the girl's arm that was in front of her the same scar that she had on her own arm. Before Rainbow could muster up enough strength to reply to the question that was asked of her earlier by this person she said to Rainbow.

“Eighty…..that is how many he has raped and left for dead of those eighty you and I are the only ones that have survived and thus know what he looks like.”

Rainbow swallowed hard then looked back at the girls scar on her arm before saying to her as she rubbed her own arm with the scar that she too bore.

“Who are you, no wait don’t answer that I would rather know how you found me and how you know what happened to me.”

The girl sitting next to her smiled then stood up holding out her hand to Rainbow as she said to her while Rainbow remained sitting on the bench in front of her.

“I’ll show you.”
