"Calm down dear, there's no need to get so worked up."

Lavender pounded the table in frustration. "Are you kidding me? You tell me that you and dad are taking a break and expect me not to get mad. What if you two divorce? I don't want to lose both of you, I want us as a family."

"And we still are hun, just a little time apart and we'll be that family again."

"Stop spitting lies mom....just tell me what happened."

"Well um.....see two years ago is when everything started to deteriorate. I had a big project for an important client that I couldn't pass up. During my work, however, Spike found himself in a sensual mood. I politely asked him to stop any progress towards his current thoughts and agreed. Unfortunately, this went on for the remainder of a year. Last year is when things got hectic. We repeatedly found ourselves in arguments over every little thing we could try and the last one we had seemed to seal the deal....oh boy...."

"I know it hurts mom but please keep going."

"........I...he...." Rarity once again found tears streaming down her cheeks as the thoughts flooded her mind. "After our last....fight....I found...found out that he was.....hanging out with that demon of a dragon lord, Ember."

"Ember? Princess Ember?"

"Yes...Princess Ember."

"Hey she sounds familiar...Oh yea..."

"What?"

"Dad may have sent a letter or two about her."

"What! So he was cheating on me even before he started taking trips there."

"Cheating? Mom, dad has loved you since he first stepped claw in here, what makes you think he's cheating."

"Well why don't you ask him yourself, that jerk is in the dragon lands with that broad anyway. I swear he is the worst, Unsophisticated pile of.."

"Mom! Please stop talking like that, please. I'm going to fix this, you hear me? No way you guys can just break up after all you've been through."

"Maybe it's for the best dear, there's no spark between us anymore."

Without warning, Lavender grabbed the wooden table off all fours and slammed it into a wall. "No! I refuse to believe. You guys still love each other, I just know it. You wanna know how I know? Look right in front of you." Rarity just stared in shock, mainly because of her table but at how dedicated Lavender was. "Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to get the story out of dad, maybe put the pieces together...Mom, I love you...and if you love me, you'll work it out."

Lavender slowly walked out and shut the door leaving Rarity to think to herself. Lavender only got a few feet away before Twilight flashed in front of her. "I assume you guys had a good talk."

"Hardly.....Twilight, I want to go see my dad. Can you send me to the dragon lands?"

"Of course."

"But before you do, can I ask a favor?"

"Sure."

"Please cheer everyone up, it's too sad and gloomy around here for Ponyville. Tell everyone I'm getting my family back together, lift their spirits."

"That should do the job, please Lavender get them to talk. I can't stand seeing these two in such a fit, especially Spike. I've know him since he hatched and it breaks my heart to see him like this. Can I ask you that favor as well?"

"You bet."

"Alright get ready." A small of string of magic energy seeped from her horn and circled Lavender. The string grew bigger each time it went around her faster and faster. The string transformed into a sphere surrounded her and lifting her a clear ten feet into the air. The sphere suddenly shrunk and shrunk until just vanished. "Good luck."

The sphere appeared atop and flat area amongst the mountains. It lowered to ground and dissipated. As Lavender's senses came back to her, she took in all the scenery and sounds of the mountains and the dragons. One big, one small, one gigantic, one yellow, one brown, so many different dragons. Lavender's curiosity was overshadowed by her need to find her father and so she set off to the nearest dragon. "Excuse me sir, do you by any chance know where Princess Ember is?"

The red dragon just stared down at her. "What?"

"Princess Ember? Do you know where she is?"

The dragon took two big steps towards her angrily asked again. "What did you say?"

"Um....Princess....Ember?"

"Ember....Don't think I know anyone by that name but that's not a good topic anyway. A good topic is asking what the heck you are?"

"What do you mean?"

"Well you're not any dragon I've seen, you're small like a runt I knew a while back but you have the features of a pony."

"Well yea, I was born from a dragon and a pony, a Dracony."

"Dracony?" The dragon instantly shot onto his back and began laughing hysterically. "Oh that's a good one, hahaha. So what do you eat animals then read them a bed time story."

"Um no, what does that have to do with anything?"

"Or maybe you breath magical butterflies."

"Sir can you please answer my question?"

"Hahaha, alright fine but first answer mine."

"Ok."

"What made you think....you were welcome here?"

"I beg your pardon."

"Dragons don't like pony's, simple as that. Even a hybrid half pony like yourself deserves to get smashed into little paste."

"Don't tell that discrimination is still going on."

"Discrimination? ha! It's the law of the food chain little dragon. We eat you, you run away. Of course the natural way of things changed when that runt came along for the ride. What was his name? Small, crybaby, hadn't even gotten his height in yet. Oh yea Spike." Lavender's claws dug into the ground as she heard the red dragon continue his put downs on her father. "Weak, always going on about friendship, and..."

"Stop it.."

"The red dragon looked down at her in confusion. "Wanna repeat that?"

Her eyes began to glow from a purple to a green in mere seconds. "Stop talking about my dad!"

She jumped on the dragon and began clawing at his face. He violently staggered back, seeing as how he was only a few feet bigger than Lavender himself, and slammed into a wall. All nearby dragons watched in amazement as Lavender delivered her ferocious attack. It was then tat familiar echoed from the skies. "Lavender stop!" Lavender looked to the skies to see her father climbing down from a nearby mountain. "Please remove your claws from Garble's face."

She jumped down and watched as Spike approached them. "Dad you're here."

"Garble I told you about your bullying. Considering the circumstance is my daughter, I have every right to beat you senseless but I have a heart. Leave...now!" Garble quickly picked himself and flew off. "Lavender are you okay?"

"Yea...I could have taken you know."

"Sure you could. Come here and give me a hug dummy."

Spike embraced Lavender as she came in for best hug she's even given him. "It's so good to see you after all these years....and I wish it were on better terms."

"What do you....oh...let's talk back at my cave." Spike picked her up and plopped her on his back. He began climbing up the nearest mountain jumping to another as he reached the top and another as he reached the top of that one. Eventually after two or three more jumps, he landed inside a cave a mile away from their meeting point. His room was surprisingly furnished for a cave. There was a bed in a corner of the room with red sheets and white pillows. Adjacent to the bed was a glorious golden mirror, three diamonds sat at the top and tiled floor surrounded it with purple drapes behind it. Wow, different from what I've heard from Twilight. She said that dragons like to sleep on the ground in these cold caves."

"Well technically it is, still cold."

"Right, so...that talk?"

"Right, sit down."

Lavender positioned herself on the bed to lay down. "So..explain."

"Explain what?"

"Dad."

"Ok ok, me and your mother right?"

"Yes."

"So I don't know exactly what she told you but my version makes more sense, I think."

"I imagine."

"So here goes. Two years ago we were doing just fine. There was one particular day that i felt as if we needed some time alone so I tried to get her in the mood."

"So mom was right, every time you interrupted her you were just trying to get some."

"What did she tell you? No, only the first time. I understood that her client was the top priority so I left her alone but after a while it seemed as if she was wrapped up in her work. She wasn't even working for that client anymore, and it just felt like every moment of every day was work. Not time for me at all. So here and there I tried to get her mind off of work but just ended up making her mad or breaking things. We had an argument every day over small things, and then the spark just..went out. I began seeing people for counseling. Twilight, Pinkie,Rainbow,Applejack,Fluttershy and eventually Ember..but.."

"Mom thinks you're cheating on her."

"And this all is what I tried to explain to her, but no, she just kept interrupting me and assuming things. It was our last fight that we finally decided on a break....Lavender." Lavender sat in silence, her head tucked into her arms. "Lavender?"

"......It's ok dad..."

"Honey I..."

"At least your story makes more sense. Any chance we could get some comfort food?"

"Yea, but before that, I need to give you something."

"What?"

Spike made his way over to the mirror and pulled out a chair from behind the drapes. "Sit down."

"I'm not getting a make over am I?"

"No I'm a dragon, what makes you think I'm good at something like that unless you want to end up in the rodeo."

"Good point." Lavender made her way into the chair and looked at herself in the mirror. "So what's the surprise."

"Hold on....give me a second....Close your eyes."

Lavender did just that and felt something come around her neck. "Dad what's going on?"

"Shh Lavender I'm concentrating...and..there. Open them.

"Oh..my god dad....it's so pretty..."
Lavender's present

"Just like you honey. Now let's eat."

"So does this mean you'll at least work this out with mom?"

"Well actually.."

"Cause family shouldn't fight like this."

"Honey i'm.."

"Mom will understand why things are so bad."

"Lavender!"

Lavender turned to face him with concern. "Yes dad."

"I'm.....not going back to your mother."

"..............What?...What?!"

"See I've found more of a spark between me and Ember than I ever did with Rarity."

"How...can..you...say that! So what your love never meant anything? What about me huh? Do I just not count?"

"No honey, I was going to ask if you wanted to stay with me but.."

Lavender let the most blood curdling growl. "Are you kidding me?! No I want you and mom not just one of you." Tears began welling up in her eyes as she back up to the cave entrance. "I loved you dad, I really did. But if you can't find a way to mom again then you can't have a daughter." She hopped out of the cave pouring out streams of tears. Spike at on his bed and held his hand to his face. "What have I done?"
