Chapters Rarity's Ice Cold Romance
It was a snowy day in Ponyville, and Rarity was out, shoveling her walk, when she received an unexpected visitor.
"Princess Celestia! What are you doing here?", she asked.
"Well, Rarity. Our nephew is visiting me and Luna for Hearthwarming Eve. And I came to see if you would do him the honor of meeting him.", the regal figure smiled.
"Oh, Prince Blueblood isn't exactly my type...", Rarity replied.
"I don't believe you understand. This isn't Blueblood we're talking about. I'm referring to my other nephew, Prince Snowcat. You see, he lives way up north, where it's very cold, since he can't stand the heat. It would actually kill him, the only time he can come and visit us is during the winter. Then, he told us he was a big fan of your work. Especially the earmuffs. And when we told him you were a friend of ours, he was thrilled. So, if you can, it would really make his day.", Celestia smiled, walking away.
"Wait! Would it be too much trouble if I brought my family and stayed for the week? For Hearthwarming?", Rarity asked quickly.
"Nonsense! Snowcat would love the company! Not very many ponies come and visit where he lives. Not that anyone else lives there besides him.", she replied.
"Oh my...he sounds lonely. Does he have a special somepony?", Rarity asked, starting to feel sorry for the lonely prince.
"I'm afraid not, Snowcat has lived a very solitary life, since his parents died when he was about 14. We've tried getting him out, but we almost killed him every time we tried in the summer or the spring. So he started visiting us in the winter, but even then he never meets a special somepony who would be willing to live with him if they got married. They complain about it being too cold. But he couldn't survive otherwise.", Celestia sighed sadly.
"Well you tell him I'll be there!", Rarity said, determined to make the solitary prince happy.
A few hours later, Rarity and Sweetie Belle were all packed up and waiting at the train station.
"You're trying to meet some cute Canterlot stallion, aren't you, Rarity?", Sweetie teased.
"I'm not trying, Sweetie. I am! At least he's a big fan of my work! Oh, I bet he's dreadfully pale though, what with staying out of the sun and all..."
Rarity went on like this until they reached the Canterlot Castle, where they found Celestia, Luna, and a white unicorn, with a frosty blue mane, and a cat rolling in the snow for a cutie mark wearing a monocle and a pair of Rarity's earmuffs, having a snowball fight.
"Cat! What did I tell you about throwing snowballs at my neck? You know we have an aching neck!", Luna frowned, after the cold sphere hit her.
"Sorry, Auntie Luna!", the unicorn apologized.
Celestia turned and saw Rarity and Sweetie, "Rarity! I'm glad you could make it! What of your parents?"
"They'll be here tomorrow, now where is his highness, Prince Snowcat? I'd love to be introduced to him.", Rarity smiled.
Snowcat dashed up and put his hoof up to his forehead, beaming, "Snowcat, at your service! It's really such an honor to meet you, Miss Rarity! But you can call me Cat for short if you like."
"Oh, my...", Rarity giggled, blushing.
"Is something wrong?", Snowcat asked.
"No, it's just...you're a lot more handsome in person.", she smiled.
"Oh...thank you. You're a lot more prettier than I thought you would be.", Snowcat grinned.
"So, Cat? Do you really live at the Northern Edge of Equestria?", Sweetie Belle asked.
"I sure do! Gotta keep nice and cool, ya know? Or I would practically melt! What's your name, little one?",he smiled.
"My name is Sweetie Belle! I was wondering if you could help me with my report for school about the Northern Edge..."
"Now, Sweetie...I don't know if...", Rarity cut in before Snowcat smiled,
"I'd be thrilled to help! You know, it's not often ponies take interest in me."
Rarity examined his earmuffs closely, before asking, "Is there something different about those earmuffs?"
"I hope you don't mind, but I took the privilege of slightly modifying these to keep the cold in and the heat out by..."
"Using Snowflake Flower Petals! Of course! You, Snowcat, are a fashion genius! You apply experimentation to fashion, yet it still looks fabulous!", Rarity exclaimed, handing him back his earmuffs.
"Wow, thank you! That means a lot coming from my favorite fashion designer.", Snowcat blushed.
"Your...FAVORITE...fashion designer? Oh, please...I'm not that good...", Rarity retorted, blushing till she was entirely tinted red.
A butler came and brought them 5 cups of cocoa.
"Here you go, your majesty. 4 hot cocoas for the ladies, and 1 chilled cocoa for Cat.", he slowly said, as everyone grabbed their mugs.
"Thanks, Bud!", Snowcat grinned as he took a spoon and started scooping his out, "Frozen at exactly -234 degrees! You guys take such great care of me!"
"Wow! You must have really strong jaws, to be able chew like that!", Sweetie observed.
"Very good observation, Sweetie! In fact, not to brag, but, if I had all the muscles in my jaws in my hooves, I could pick up a house without using magic! You can put that in your report!", he smiled.
"Wow! Wait till the girls hear about this! Can I have my picture taken with you? So I have something to show my friends?", Sweetie begged.
"Of course! Here, use my camera!", Snowcat replied, handing Luna a camera.
After their picture was taken, Celestia smiled, "Okay, is everyone ready to turn in? Cat? Do you have your snow dome ready? Your room's been chilled to about -200 degrees, is that comfortable?"
"It's perfect!", Snowcat grinned, putting up a force field.
As they walked down the hall, Rarity brought up a very awkward conversation.
"Snowcat? How would you like us to get to know each other a little more...intimately?", she asked.
"Really? You don't think I'm pathetic or anything?", he asked with surprise.
"No! On the contrary, I find you very interesting and fun to be around. And I've sort of developed...ahem...feelings for you.", Rarity admitted.
"I...I...I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels like that! But even if we did get up to...marriage...would you actually live with me in temperatures of under -5 degrees?"
"Oh, Snowcat! I would go anywhere for you! And besides, it can't be that cold! Well, it was very delightful meeting you, I hope we see each other some more tomorrow.", Rarity smiled, kissing his nose, before she and Sweetie went into their room they were staying in during the week.
Rarity had made Snowcat's heart melt. (As a figure of speech, not literally!)

It's Okay When Rarity Jumps the Gun
The next morning, Rarity and Sweetie came down to find their parents talking with the princesses.
"We really appreciate your having us over for Hearthwarming! That was really nice of you!", Betty smiled.
"Oh, don't thank us! It was our dear nephew's idea.", Luna replied.
"I hope you don't mean that snob, Blueblood. Rarity told us all about him!", Magnum frowned. (Even though this isn't Magnum PI, I'm gonna say it: I don't own Magnum PI!)
"Oh no, Mr. Magnum! This is our other nephew, Snowcat. But we all call him Cat.", Celestia smiled.
"Mom! Dad!", Sweetie exclaimed, embracing her parents, along with Rarity.
"Sweetie Belle! Can you believe this? We're spending Hearthwarming at the Castle!", Magnum grinned.
"I know! And you guys have to meet Cat! He's cool!", she smiled.
"Speaking of which, where is Snowcat?", Rarity asked.
Luna smiled, "He's talking his daily morning ice bath. He should be finished soon."
Then, Snowcat came down the stairs, his force field up, and his mane damp.
"Good morning, Rarity, Sweetie. I hope you two slept well last night.", he said cheerfully.
"Oh yes, we most certainly did! Thank you for asking. Mother, Father. This is Prince Snowcat. Snowcat, these are my parents, Magnum and Betty."she smiled, kissing his cheek as she introduced him to her parents.
"Wow, you must really like the cold, if you take an ice bath 3 times a day!", Betty deduced.
Snowcat grinned, "It's what keeps me alive."
"Hehe, you weren't kidding when you said he was cool!", Magnum laughed, Snowcat laughing along.
After breakfast, Rarity and Snowcat went outside for a walk around Canterlot, while Magnum, Betty, and Sweetie had a snowball fight.
"So...Snowcat...I've been thinking...how does Frozalina (Fr-oz-a-lina) and Blizzarby (Blizz-arby, as in Arby's. I don't own Arby's!) sound to you?", Rarity asked, hoofing the snow.
"For what?", Snowcat replied curiously.
"As names. For our children, well, when we get to that part. Listen, it may sound like I'm rushing things, but that's because I've found the stallion I want to spend eternity with.", Rarity sighed.
Snowcat smiled, putting his hoof around Rarity, "I think they're really clever. The question is, would my aunts approve? And your parents?"
"I wrote to my parents about my plans. But I don't know about your aunts...We should probably go ask them. But I'll tell you now, you don't need to ask me. Just sweep me off my feet.", she grinned mischievously, kissing his snout, before throwing a snowball in his face and running.
"I'm coming to get you, 'My Darling Snowflake!'", he smiled, chasing after her.
They played in the park for a while, before going back to the castle, finding Sweetie and Luna building a snowpony, while Celestia, Magnum, and Betty were building a snow fort.
"Rarity! Cat! You're back!", the little filly exclaimed, charging them both with a hug.
"How's that paper of yours going, Sweetie?", Snowcat asked.
"Great! Thanks for letting me use your books! I just need your opinion on what it's like there, and I'll be done!", she smiled, making a pen and paper appear.
"Well...it's beautiful, the frost constantly clinging to the trees, the icy lake. It's also very peaceful, the only sound heard for miles are those of falling snowflakes. But, it's also very lonely, as no one else can stand the cold like I can.", he answered, looking a little down at the last part, Rarity came up and they started nuzzling each other.
Celestia grinned, "I see you two have developed feelings for each other."
"That's what we came to ask you about, if you and Luna would bless our marriage.", Rarity said sheepishly.
Luna laughed, "Of course we'll bless the marriage! We would be monsters if we didn't for our dear nephew! Just give us a few months to prepare the wedding. Cat? Have you even asked her yet?"
"He doesn't have to...", Rarity smiled, kissing Snowcat's lips as she said so.

A Present for Applejack and A Winter Breeze
After they finished their kiss, Sweetie exclaimed,
"Wow! You guys are gonna get married?! Can I babysit? Your kids?"
"We'll see, Sweetie.", Rarity smiled, staring at Snowcat dreamily, "Of course, we won't be getting married for about 6 months, so we better make the most of our dates."
Snowcat grinned, "You know what I feel like? Gelato. Who wants to grab some of my homemade gelato, straight from the Northern Edge of Equestria?"
"Hmm...I'm in!", smiled Magnum, putting his hoof around Snowcat.
"Well, for some strange reason, gelato sounds rather good right now.", Betty chirped.
"I would love to try some of your homemade gelato, Snowcat Darling!", Rarity replied.
"Ooh! Don't forget me, Cat!", Sweetie chimed.
"Okay then! Follow me!", he grinned, leading them to a fridge and a freezer in his bedroom.
"Wow! You have a fridge AND a freezer in your room? Mom and Dad won't keep food in my room...", Sweetie exclaimed.
"Oh no, I don't keep food in that! Only in the freezer.", Snowcat laughed.
"Well then, Darling, what do you do with the fridge?", Rarity asked.
Snowcat opened the door on the fridge to reveal a lawn chair and a bookshelf inside.
"I hang out in there. Now, who wants gelato?", he smiled.
"Hmm...this stuff is delicious! Is it...strawberry?", Magnum asked, immediately loving his gelato at first lick.
"Kinda. They're Frost Strawberries. They're like regular strawberries, but are blue and need to grow in the cold.", Snowcat explained.
"Betty smiled, "I suppose you have yourself a whole thing of cold fruits and veggies don't ya?"
"Oh yes! Frost Tomatoes, Frost Broccoli, Frost Brussel Sprouts, and Frost Apples!"
"Oooh! Snowcat, darling, I don't suppose you have a Frost Apple on you? My friend Applejack would love to see it!", Rarity asked.
"Of course! Anything for 'My Little Snowflake". I even have a special case that will keep the bushel cool so you can send them to Ponyville! I have enough for them to make an apple pie!", Snowcat grinned, handing her a metal box about as big as Sweetie's hoof.
"Pay no attention to the size, they grow once they make contact with warm air."
"Applejack will be so pleased! Would you do me the honor of escorting me to the post office so I can send these? If they'll let me...", she worried.
"Oh don't worry, dear. Auntie Celestia always sends me cakes through mail. It'll be fine! And I was hoping you'd ask me to come with you!", he reassured before smiling and kissing her cheek.
After they dropped the package off at the post office, they went to the Canterlot Orphanage.
"What ever are we doing here?", Rarity asked.
"I made a promise to a friend last year...", was all that he said before they reached the desk.
The clerk looked up and said, "You must be Mr. Snowcat. Are you here for Winter Breeze?"
"I most certainly am!", Snowcat smiled.
The clerk smiled back, "I'll go get her."
She came a moment later, with a little pegasus filly with white fur and a blue and white bicolored mane.
"Snowcat! You remembered! You kept your promise!", the filly cheered, charging Snowcat with a hug.
"Of course I did! I would never break a promise! Rarity, this is a friend of mine I met last year, Winter Breeze. Winter, this is my wife to be, Rarity!"
The filly stared, enchanted at Rarity before smiling, "You're getting married? Congratulations! You look very pretty Miss Rarity!"
Rarity blushed, pulling her into a hug, "Why thank you, Winter! It's very nice to meet you too!"
After Snowcat signed the papers, he smiled, "Are you ready to go to the castle? It's getting late."
"I sure am, Snowcat!", Winter grinned, jumping on his back, "Are you, Rarity."
"I think I'm ready to turn in too.", she replied, giving Snowcat and Winter a kiss on their noses smiling, "We'll make a great family..."

The Master of Portals and Teleportation
They finally got back to the castle, and as they went inside, Snowcat activated his force field, and led Rarity to her room.
"Oh, Snowcat....today was so wonderful....I hope that we can go to Ponyville tomorrow, so you can meet my friends.", Rarity smiled, kissing his nose.
Snowcat grinned, "Of course! I'd love that! Good night, My Darling Snowflake."
"Good night, Darling."
As Winter Breeze followed him, she asked, "Where will I be sleeping, Snowcat?"
"You'll be sleeping with me, Winter. When we go home to the Northern Edge this spring, you'll get your own room!", he smiled, nuzzling her, "Please, you can call me Dad if you want."
"I'll call you Pappy!! How's that?", she asked, as they got to Snowcat's room.
"Hmm....it's catchy! I like it!", he replied, as he changed into his pajamas, Winter Breeze did the same.
As he turned out the lights and got in bed, he asked, "It's not too cold in here for you, is it?"
"Of course not, Pappy! It's perfect! Can I ask you something?", Winter smiled, snuggling up to him.
"Sure, we're family now, aren't we?", he grinned.
"How come you only visit your aunts in the winter?", she asked.
Snowcat replied, "Because I'm not big on warm weather. It would literally kill me. I was born in a very cold climate, and my parents died when I was 14. After that, I tried to move in with my aunts, but I couldn't take the heat, it wasn't what I was made for. So there I stayed, alone. So I visit only in the winter."
"Will Rarity be able to come with us this spring?", Winter asked.
"Well, she might want to go back to Ponyville and stay with her friends until we get married. I don't know, it's her decision. You can ask her tomorrow if you like. Good night, Winter.", he answered.
Winter hugged him, "Good night, Pappy!"
Meanwhile in Rarity and Sweetie's room.....
"Who was that filly with Cat?", Sweetie asked.
Rarity smiled, "He adopted her at the Canterlot Orphanage today. Her name is Winter Breeze, she's very sweet."
Sweetie asked another question, "Are you going to go with them when they go home to the Northern Edge this spring?"
"Well, I.....I don't really know.... I know my friends would miss me...and I would miss them....and there's you too....but I could come visit every now and then. I'm sure Snowcat wouldn't mind. I just don't know....."
The next day.....
Everyone was at the table, eating breakfast.
"I trust you two slept well last night?", Celestia asked, looking at Rarity's parents.
"Oh yes! Quite comfortably. Thanks for asking.", Magnum smiled.
Snowcat came down the stairs with Winter on his back giggling, "Wheee!"
"Good morning, Dear!", Snowcat smiled, kissing Rarity's cheek as he sat Winter down and took a seat.
"Good morning, Darling! Good morning, Winter! Are you ready for today?", Rarity beamed.
"We sure are! Hey, Rarity, can I ask you a question?", Winter grinned.
"Sure, Winter, honey, what is it?", she replied.
"Are you going to come home with us? When we leave this spring?"
"Well, I've been meaning to talk with your father about that. I've been thinking, and I just have a question.....how often can I visit my friends in Ponyville?", Rarity answered, turning to Snowcat.
"As often as you like! We may not have a train station, but I'm a master at portals and teleportation! So that won't be a problem!", Snowcat replied, kissing her lips.
Rarity looked at him in awe, "A master of portals and teleportation?"
Luna smiled, "Of course! His ancestors invented the art!!"
"Oh my stars! Twilight is going to LOVE talking to you! She's quite the fan of teleporting!", Rarity exclaimed.
"Well then, we'd better not disappoint her and get going!", he grinned, as they finished breakfast.
They went out to the courtyard.
"Okay. Now, Rarity, on my right, Winter on my left. Now, hold on to me.....", Snowcat ordered, as his horn started glowing.
"We're ready, Pappy!", Winter beamed, as they grabbed on to him.
And they were gone, just like that.
Rarity's Ice Cold Romance
Twilight and her friends were walking through the park, snow everywhere.
"Do you you think Rarity and her family are having a good time?", Twilight asked.
"Yeah, I would say so. She sent me these 'Frost Apples', along with a little note, saying that she was getting married.", Applejack replied, holding up a slip of paper.
"Let me see that!!!", Rainbow exclaimed, snatching the note and reading out loud,
"Dear Applejack,
I hope you got these Frost Apples, a little gift from my fiancé, Prince Snowcat. Eventually we'll be getting married. Please make sure you tell everyone else about this,
Love, Rarity."
Twilight smiled, "Wow! I'm glad Rarity finally found herself a special somepony. Although, I've never heard of Prince Snowcat....is he related to Celestia?"
All of the sudden, a bright flash appeared in front of them, and there stood Rarity, along with a unicorn stallion, and a pegasus filly.
Twilight was shocked, "Rarity! I didn't know you could do teleportation spells!!"
Rarity smiled, and hugged her friends, "I can't. It was my fiancé, Snowcat. He's a master of portals and teleportation!"
"Oh...is this the prince you were talking about in your note?", Fluttershy asked.
"Oh, you can just ignore the formalities and call me Cat.", Snowcat grinned.
"Who's this?", Pinkie beamed, taking Winter and squeezing her.
"That's my daughter, Winter Breeze.", he smiled.
"Through adoption, I assume?", Twilight asked.
"Of course, but I don't like saying that. It sounds like I'm trying to separate myself from her, you know.", Snowcat answered, looking at Twilight.
"Ah. I see. So, how did you teleport from Canterlot all the way to Ponyville? That's a very complicated piece of magic.", Twilight asked.
"Oh, Twilight! His ancestors invented teleportation and portals!", Rarity put in, nuzzling Snowcat.
Twilight's eyes widened, "Really??? I thought that was Starswirl!"
Snowcat laughed, "Nooooo! Who do you think taught Starswirl how to teleport? Grandpa always told me that story when I was a little colt. Mom always said that her grandfather told her the same story before....well...."
Rarity saw what was happening and started nuzzling him, "It's okay....you don't have to talk about it if you don't want to."
"Thank you, Rarity, dear.", Snowcat sniffed, tears running down his cheeks.
"I'll always be here for you, Darling.", she smiled, kissing his nose.
Winter jumped into his arms, "Don't forget me, Pappy! I'm here for you too!"
He grinned, before throwing a snowball at Rarity, "Thank you, girls. Snowball Fight!!!"
Rarity was stunned before smiling sinisterly, "Oh, you're in for it now!"
And they spent the rest of the day playing in the park with the others, eventually, it was time to go back to Canterlot.
"Awww....do you have to go?", Pinkie sighed, as she hugged Rarity.
"I'm afraid so, but don't worry, I'll come visit as often as I can!", she replied.
"Wait....aren't you coming back after Hearthwarming?", Rainbow asked.
"Oh! I'm so sorry I didn't tell you girls earlier, but I'll be going to the Northern Edge with Snowcat and Winter Breeze this spring.", Rarity exclaimed, answering Rainbow's question.
"The Northern Edge?!? That's only the coldest region in Equestria!! And you live there?!?!? How?!?!?", Twilight exclaimed, turning to Snowcat.
Snowcat sighed, "I have to. I would quite literally melt should I stay here for the spring and summer. Of course, my family has lived there for generations...until most of them left after......well.....let's just say they left and I couldn't. They were made to live in hot and cold....I wasn't."
Applejack gasped, "So you mean all your uncles, aunts, and cousins left you? Alone? After your folks passed?"
"Wait...how did you..."
"I've been through tough times...but I've always had my family to help me through. How old were you?", she smiled, answering his question.
"14. I was all alone, they only stayed when my parents were still alive, because they were mooches. But Aunt Celestia and Aunt Luna.....they came and took care of me. They were like a second set of parents to me.", he laughed softly, tears dripping off his muzzle, "We'd better get going."
And once again, they were gone.
