Changing Time

With my new found friend, I didn't need to hide as much. We went out for milkshakes, we played in the Everfree forest, which is where I spent most of my time either way. Everything was great! He had wondered about me and asked questions, but I didn't mind answering them. He had asked what's so special about being a hybrid and what downsides there are. So I told him about my abilities to see exactly how the pony thinks and what they know. I also said that I can't know EVERYTHING until I actually talk to them, like how part of Rainbow Dash's mind is somehow locked from me. I also told him all the downsides. One being if I get injured badly enough they become permanent, like a manticore biting my leg for example. Luckily nothing like that has happened so for now, I'm good. He seemed intrigued by what I said, and I liked the positive attention coming from some pony other than my mom for once.

One day, we decided to see how long it would take to fly to Canterlot verses taking the train that day, since Sunburst was needed there by tomorrow we made a game out if it. I decided to fly while John hesitantly took the train, bad idea. Half way there, after about an hour, I was exhausted. I kept flying at a rapid pace but I knew I couldn't for much longer. It hurt so much that I held my breath hoping I wouldn't fall. I had become a stronger flier since the rainbow factory, but clearly not strong enough! I was almost at the edge of the cliff, when my wings gave out. I screamed as I plummeted towards the lake next to Ponyville, it was at this time that I wanted to be better at magic. I was almost at the ground when I managed to change into Starburst and I tried to use her horn in time to teleport to safety! It was too late...I splashed into the lake below, and hit my head on a rock.

"Candy! Candy wake up!!!" John was yelling to me as he shook me, but seconds later I was out like a light.

I woke up in the hospital, in the end I had my left wing and my front right hoof both bandaged, and temporary bandage on my head. I knew already that the hoof and wing injuries were permanent. I managed to limp out of the room, and slowly but surely I met John in the waiting area. He looked concerned when he saw me, "Candy! Are you okay?! Are the bandages..." He stopped as he looked up at me, I was smiling.

"Thank you." I said, "Thank you so much John. No pony would ever do this for me if they knew I was..."

He simply returned the smile and said, "Well then call me Mr. No-pony!"

I giggled, "Well, Mr. No-pony, wanna join me for a milkshake?" We laughed as we walked, and limped, to the milkshake place.

I was happy to have a friend who cared for me again, and with my bandaged wing and hoof, I'd need him. It was a great thing knowing he liked me. For a change he wasn't scared OF me, but scared FOR me. I liked the feeling a lot. We went back to Canterlot by train that night and when I limped in as Sunburst, I was greeted by Luna. She asked what had happened but I just said it was a bad flying accident. She sent me to rest in Sunburst's room and thanked John for helping me and that he was welcome at the grand galloping gala tomorrow night. He said yes and was also invited afterwards to stay at the castle tonight. I answered for him when he was invited to stay, and of course I said yes.

We had fun in the castle that day, preparing each other for the gala, and just talking. The gala was fun but all we did was look at the garden the whole time. The flowers were gorgeous, not to mention we could avoid the crowded room just in case I sneezed unexpectedly. There wasn't much talking either, I just wanted a quiet night anyways and apparently so did John. We just told a few jokes and had a couple of conversations here and there. John even introduced me to his changeling friend named Holes, and told me about a device that lets him do basically what I do after it scans a pony! The whole night was nice, and after going off to bed I looked at a picture we had taken together, then dozed off after putting it in my saddlebag.
