A Whole New World

I lay on the floor with Dinky in a mild state of panic. Dinky was leaning over me and her eyes were filled with tears.

“I'm so sorry Michael! I didn't mean to!”

I give her a smile and pat her head. “It's not your fault Dinks. I just kind of misjudged the hardness of the floor.” I wince as I sit up, my chest really hurt. “Wow, that stings.” I get to my feet and crack my back. I look to Dinky and see she was still on the verge of tears. “I fine Dinks, no harm done.”

Dinky lunges at me and hugs my leg. “I'm sorry.”

I pat her head and chuckle. “Dinky, I'm OK. I admit we got out of hoof if that's the correct term?” Dinky nods. “Yeah, but I think we better get this mess cleaned up.” I say looking over the living room. The couch had lost it's cushions and the chair had not faired better, the cushions in question were piled into a make shift fort in the centre of the room. “Yeah...”

“We did go a little too far didn't we?” Dinky says looking at the living room.

I look down to Dinky and give her a smile. “We had fun though didn't we?” Dinky nods and gives me a large smile. “let's get this place cleaned up before Derpy gets back.”

“Yeah...”

Dinky and I get started on collecting up the cushions and placing them back in their right places. I give the room a look over as we finish tidying up, I grin and place a hand on Dinky's head.

“Great job Dinks, let's get something to drink OK?”

“Yeah, I'm thirsty.”

Dinky and I was sitting at the kitchen table when Derpy came back, or should I say stormed back.

“She won't do it!” Derpy says walking in to the kitchen and taking a seat next to me. “I asked the Mayor to set up a meeting so you could introduce yourself to the town and she won't do it! She said I was being crazy and making you up!”

I suddenly stand up and my fists clench. I make for the door and Derpy stops me.

“Where are you going?”

I look down to Derpy and grin. “If she won't believe you then I'll just pay her a visit.” I ruffle Derpy's mane and continue towards the door.

“Wait! You can't go out there! Ponyville doesn't know about you yet!”

I look back and smile. “Trust me.” I open the front door and leave walking out into the evening sun. I stand still and take a deep breath. “That feels good.” I mutter to myself. I grinned and started my way to the Town Hall, I knew where it was thanks to Dinky bringing home a map of Ponyville and showing me the different places to go.

I walk passed several shocked looking ponies and kept smiling, I was loving this. I reached the Town Hall and stepped inside. I looked around and spotted a desk with a pony writing with magic, I approached the desk and coughed to get her attention. The mare looks up and she goes wide eyed.

“Hello,” I say in a friendly tone. “I was just wondering if I could speak with the mayor if she's in?”

The mare swallows hard before replying. “W-Who should I say is calling?”

“Tell her the human that Miss Hooves came in about has arrived and wishes to speak with her.”

“Oh, OK. Just give me a moment.” The mare presses a button on a small box on her desk and a mares voice answers.

“Yes Ruby?”

“Miss Mayor I have a...stallion out here asking for you. He says it's about what Miss Hooves came in for?”

There was a long pause. “Send him up please.” The box crackles as the connection is lost.

“The mayors office is upstairs and the third door on the left.” The mare states pointing to the stairs behind her.

“Thank you.” I reply giving her a little head bow.

I head up the stairs and manage to find the mayors office, I straighten my clothes and give the door a knock.

“Come in!”

I push open the door and notice the room was quite large with a bookcase in one corner and an older looking mare with glasses sitting behind a large wooden desk. I also realise the mare isn't even looking at me but had her eyes cast down to a paper work on her desk.

“Look I have a lot of work to do and I don't have time for fantasy games, I already told Miss Hooves that I will not hold a town meeting for a creature that doesn't exist.”

I clench my fist as she doesn't even look up to greet me so I stride over to her desk and thump my fist down on it. The mayor jumps up and finally locks eyes with me. If I wanted to describe the shocked look on the mayor's face I would need a thesaurus.

“That's better, I just don't like it when someone speaks to me and doesn't give me the courtesy of looking at my face.”

The Mayor suddenly pushes the paper work into a drawer and tries to put on a smile but realising it was too late for that.

“P-Please accept my apology on my behaviour, I shouldn't have acted that way.”

I sit on a chair in front of her desk and fold my arms. “Good but I will accept only on one condition.”

“What's that?”

“I would like the town meeting set up and I would like if you apologised to Miss Hooves.”

“That's two conditions.” I narrow my eyes. “Fine! Fine! I will set up the town meeting and give Miss Hooves an apology.” The Mayor takes out a notepad and pencil from a drawer and places them on her desk. “How would you like the meeting set up?”

I raise an eyebrow. “I would like it if all of Ponyville could be there so maybe the park or town square?”

The Mayor nods. “I can do that. Do you know how long it will be? The meeting I mean?”

“Long enough for me to tell the town about myself and answer any questions they might have.”

“Hmm, an hour then maybe two?”

“That would be fine with me.” I reply.

The Mayor writes down some details and then gives me a smile. “I will get the meeting set up and I will send my aid Ruby to let you know any further details.”

I stand up and offer my hand. “Pleasure doing business with you.” The Mayor places her hoof in my hand and I give it a shake before turning and heading out her office.

I walk out of the Town Hall and quickly make it back home to Derpy's. I walk in through the front door and is tackled by a grey mass that pins me against the door.

“I was worried somepony might attack you! Are you OK?”

I stroke Derpy's mane and rest my head on the top of hers. “Yeah, I'm OK and the meeting is being set up.”

“How? You didn't intimidate her did you?”

I chuckle. “No of course not, I just showed her that I was real and that I wanted to introduce myself to Ponyville.” Derpy gives me a narrow stare. “Well I may have thumped my fist down on her desk and stated that I wanted her to apologise to you for being rude.”

Derpy sighs. “Michael, ponies have to like you. What If they found out you forced the mayor to this meeting? They might think you're a savage.”

I laugh. “Really? You think ponies would take me for a threat? I did what any pony would do for their mate.”

I watch as Derpy's wings flare out and she stares into my eyes.

“Mate?” Derpy whispers.

“Yeah, I hope that's the right term?” Derpy lunges forward and presses her lips to mine. “I guess so!” I say when Derpy breaks the kiss.

Derpy gets off my body so I could move from the door. I look around and spot Dinky was still sitting at the table. I walk to the table and sit down, Dinky stares at me but I could tell she was trying to some up the courage to ask me something.

“I know you want to ask me something?” I say giving Dinky a smirk. I laugh when she blushes and looks down.

“I wanted to ask...” Dinky says as she started to rub her front hooves together. I raised an eyebrow when I realised it was the pony form of twiddling your thumbs. “A-Are you going to be my new dad?”

I straightened up at that, it was a right hook question that left no quarter that much was certain. I looked to Derpy and I could see by her expression that the question caught her by surprise as well.

I relaxed and gave her smile. “Your mother and I are not rushing our relationship Dinky but....If everything works out...I would really much like to be your new dad.” I turn my head and notice Derpy was now staring at me with tears in her eyes. I look back to Dinky and notice she to had tears running down her cheeks as she smiled at me. “Come here.” I say gesturing with open arms as I get off my chair.

Dinky slides off her chair and runs into my arms, I hold her tight against me as she sniffs and returns the hug. Dinky and I held each other for several seconds before I felt two wings wrap around us and Derpy get in on the action.

I smiled as I felt the two holding me and I realised at that moment my future lay with them, I now had the most difficult time ahead of me. I now had to find out how to properly court a female that was one a different species and two already a mother. I knew one thing however, I was exactly where I wanted to be.
