Applejack was busy bucking some apple trees trying to keep her mind off of current problems. Fluttershy, Rainbow, and Pinkie walk together to Sweet Apple Acres. They spotted Applejack working in the orchard and walked towards her. It didn't take long for Applejack noticed them approaching.
“Hey y'all,” She said still busy bucking another tree, causing the apples to fall into a carefully placed basket.
“It’s been over a week now Applejack, someone has to talk to her,” Rainbow said in an unusually serious tone.
“Ah tried talking to her two days ago, but she won’t leave the castle,” Applejack said turning around to see her friends.
“And I baked her muffins, but she only ate one and went back into the mirror room,” Pinkie said looking concerned.
“Maybe we should ask Princess Celestia for help,” Fluttershy suggested looking at them.
“I can fly to the castle tonight,” Rainbow said, agreeing with her.
“Alright then, ah hope Princess Celestia can convince Twilight to come out,” Applejack said looking up at the sky.
“How’s Sweetie Belle doing?” Rainbow asked.
“Better now than the first few days,”Applejack said and started to walk. “She has been staying with Apple Bloom, but ah think her parents are going to want her to move back, at least until Rarity returns,” She said look back at her friends.
“I haven’t seen Spike around lately, is he in the castle with Twilight?” Pinkie asked them.
“Spike is living with me at the moment,” Fluttershy said, looking at them, “When he found out that Rarity was missing, he blamed Twilight and ran away," She said looking down.
“Oh heck, it’s wasn’t her fault, I’ll go and try to knock some sense into him,” Applejack said and walked up to Fluttershy.
Richard heard Pearl giggling like a schoolgirl, as she hummed a tune that he didn’t recognize.
“What are up to?” Richard called downstairs wondering what the white pony was doing.
The TV downstairs was on, playing a children's show on PBS. Pearl was spending her time cooped up watching TV trying to learn more about this world and how to read English. She was feeling much better now that her leg was almost fully healed and she seemed to be enjoying herself with this new discovery she found in the basement.
“Oh Richard, I am just admiring your taste in clothing,” She said with a goofy grin.
“My clothing?” He said and put down the carrots he was cleaning into the kitchen sink.
Quickly he wiped his hands dry on a small towel and then slowly walked down the stairs into the basement. Richard is noticing that the boxes he had in storage were floating in the air. Some of the boxes had been already been opened and ladies underwear of different colors were floating.
“You got good taste, Richard,” She smirked, looking closely at a red teddy that was floated right in front of her.
“No, no, no, those are my ex’s put them back now,” Richard said pointing his finger at her.
“What is an ex?” She asked, still looking at the red teddy.
“My former wife,” He grabbed the red teddy and stuffed it into a box. “She left lots of her stuff here, after she ran away, with another man,” He said with anger, grabbing more floating lingerie and stuffed clothing back into a box.
“Why do you hold onto things, that cause you unhappiness?” The white pony asked him.
“Because, I haven’t got around to tossing them out!” Richard yelled out and kicked one box aside.
Her ears drooped down and she looked around at all the boxes and released her magic. Clothing and boxes dropped to the floor. He looked at her as she started to back away afraid. With a sigh, he sat down on the leather couch trying to cool off.
“I’m sorry, I should not have touched the boxes without asking,” She said, and walked slowly to the couch and then sat down keeping her distance.
“It’s alright, I should have cleaned this up a long time ago,” He said, breathing in deeply and then looked at the white pony sitting nearby.
“Richard, I really like clothing, I think, I use to design outfits for other ponies, It may be strange for you, but I am sure about this,” Pearl said looking at the clothing and then at him.
Richard sat in silence for a moment thinking, then he stood up, walked to one box marked magazines and opened it. He reached inside and grabbed a woman's fashion magazine. Richard sat back down and showed her pictures of woman wearing a variety of different clothing. She looked with her eyes wide open taking in every detail.
“I am not sure if this will help,” He said and waved at the boxes.“But if you want to look in the boxes, maybe you will find some inspiration,” Richard placed the magazine next to her.
“Richard that’s so generous, but what if your ex wants her clothing back?” Pearl said and then covered her mouth realizing what she said.
“Well then that is just too bad for her, I will just say something like, Sorry but I gave it all away to a magical pony,” He said and stood up.
She hopped off the couch and walking on her rear legs. To his surprise, she hugged him with her left leg and rubbed her muzzle against his arm before letting go dropping back onto her front legs.
“Thank you,” Pearl said, looking up at him.
“Dinner will be ready soon,” Richard said with a smile, feeling a bit weird.
“Richard?” She called out, stopping him half way up the stairs.
“Yes?” He asked, looking back down.
“Can I eat dinner with you upstairs?” The white pony asked looking up.
“I got a better idea Pearl, I will come back down and we can eat together,” He said quickly climbing up the stairs and then closed the door.
“Ok... “ She said as her smile faded, being stuck in this basement was starting to bother her a lot.
Minutes later Richard opened the door and started climbing down the steps holding large bowl that had a mix of hay, carrots, sliced apples, and lettuce.
“Dinner is ready!” He called out when he reached the bottom.
Looking around, he spotted the leg brace, but no pony.
“Pearl?” Richard called again and then put the bowl down on a coffee table.
Feeling a slight breeze he looked at the rear door when was partially open and noticing that the lock was removed. He quickly ran to the door and pulled it open and looked up to find that the cellar door was also open. Richard climbed up the cement steps out into the backyard. She wasn’t in the backyard, but he spotted hoof prints heading to the front of the house.
“Pearl!” He yelled out and ran to the front of the house and first looked to the right but the sidewalk was empty. Then he looked to the left and spotted her purple tail and white rear end as she kept on walking on the sidewalk passing houses. Richard ran fast to catch up to her and walked right in front of her with his arms spread out.
“Pearl where are you going? Quick, let's head back before someone sees you,” He said talking quickly, looking around to see if anyone was watching.
“I don’t care what ponies… People think, why are you, keeping me locked up in that Basement? Why won’t let me talk to your brother, I'm not an animal, I just want to be treated like everyone else,” The pony said looking angry as her horn glowed as she tried to push him aside.
“Hello there Richard!” An elderly man with gray hair said as he just sat down on a wooden chair on the front porch of his house.
“Aaa Ya, Mr. Taylor,” Richard said, sounding nervous as he walked to Pearl’s right side trying to hide her.
“For a moment there I thought you were having an argument with your wife, but then I remembered she left over a year ago, my mind must be playing tricks on me,” He said looking at Richard and then squinted his eyes trying to see what was standing behind him. “Is that a dog? Must be a great dane or one of those large white sheep dogs,” Mr. Taylor said checking his pockets looking for his glasses.
“Y..Yes, I am just taking her for a walk, she can be a bit stubborn at times,” Richard said and stroked her back.
The pony grumbled rolling her eyes and stepped on Richard’s foot with her right hoof.
“OUCH!” He yelled out, pulling his foot away.
“I left my glasses in the kitchen, can you stay right there,” Mr. Taylor said and slowly went back into his house.
“Please, I beg you come back home,” Richard said, holding his hands like he was praying.
“Promise to treat me like a person, not as a prisoner,” She said looking serious with her big blue eyes.
“Ok, ok, I promise, can we go now?” He said hearing Mr. Taylor slowly approaching the door.
“I want to live upstairs and have my own bedroom,” The pony said as her tail swished from side to side.
“You... f… fine!” Richard said in defeat.
Pearl did a happy dance and turning around walking back to Richard house. He looked down at his right foot which had a visible imprint of a hoof mark in his sock. Richard walked back following the white pony.
“Richard?” Mr. Taylor called out and noticed that he was walking back home.
“Sorry Mr. Taylor got to go now,” Richard said in a loud voice and waved back at him.
“Nice to meet you, Mr. Taylor!” Pearl called out as she went into the house.
Mr. Taylor pushed up on his thick glasses and cleaned his ears. Then slumped back into his chair, looking confused.
